This review is long overdue! Dr. Hariri quite literally changed my life. When I first came to her several years ago, I was living in constant pain. Walking, moving, let alone exercising, felt impossible. She met me with compassion and expertise, and together we started with less invasive strategies--gel injections, cortisone injections, and physical therapy. These helped tremendously. When my insurance stopped covering the injections, Dr. Hariri went above and beyond, even providing them to me at cost. Who does that? Eventually, the injections no longer worked, which coincided with advancements in total knee replacement technology. Dr. Hariri guided me through every step of the surgery process, literally and figuratively holding my hand. (And she gives great hugs!) She advocated for me with insurance so I could spend a night in the hospital under her care, arranged for at-home nurse and PT visits during the first month, and even got me a CPM machine and an ice machine for my recovery. When I later started PT at a clinic, I realized just how exceptional her care was--other patients hadn't been given these same supports and were struggling because of it. Dr. Hariri made it clear that great outcomes require hard work, and I took her advice seriously. I committed to PT twice a week, daily home exercises, stretching, and regular stationary bike rides. Now, two years post-surgery, I am almost completely pain-free. As Dr. Hariri likes to say, "Your new knee was not made by God or Nature!"--but thanks to her, it feels pretty close. I've regained my mobility, returned to exercise, and even reached a healthy weight simply by being able to move properly again. Dr. Hariri is trusted by professional athletes, and I first heard about her through a friend in the medical field--and I can see why! OVER-DELIVERED. I had a consultation with Dr Hariri after she received my MRI on my right shoulder. She explained that my shoulder was in the worst 2% of cases she sees in a year. Basically my right shoulder was completely shredded. She said that my recovery would take a minimum of 6 months and that she thought she could do a successful rotator cuff surgery that would hopefully get back to 85-90% of normal. Today is my one year anniversary of that surgery. I am at 100% recovery back to normal. I met with her, and she said that my recovery should not have gone as well as did. She was delighted with my results. I will say that I was a very good patient and did not miss a single physical therapy appointment, knowing my prognosis was not great. I am a highly critical person about shoddy medical care. But in this case, Dr. Hariri is the best Orthopedic surgeon in Santa Clara county, hands down. She recently did a full knee replacement for a (family member, HIPPA) and she is healing nicely. Dr. Hariri was caring, attentive and stayed close to us during the healing process. Knee replacement is no joke and can be very stressful for both patient and Doctor. The patient dues to the pain during healing and the Doctor having to push the patient to do necessary things that cause the healing process to proceed. Dr Hariri did a total knee replacement in November 2019. I woke up with my foot numb! And to this day my foot is numb. She kept telling me to wait a year it will heal and it's still numb in 2025. and of course, I saw an attorney but he said we only have a year after the surgery to do anything about it. Having given my opinion, I would like to mention my experience. I traveled 200 miles round trip in a rainstorm to be told she would not treat me for a knee replacement. Her reason was vague. I was referred to Dr. Hariri because of what I suspected was a torn meniscus, right knee. By far this was the best referral I ever received. Dr. Hariri is so patient oriented. She scheduled X-Rays and MRI which confirmed that I needed surgery. Her staff is very pleasant and efficient as Dr. Hariri. My surgery was scheduled and I cannot say how impressed I was of her surgical skills. I was operated on a Monday and scheduled for Physical Therapy on Friday. My 6 week follow up appointment Dr. Hariri spent as much time as needed to show me the pictures of the surgery of the tear and the repair. My first visit with Dr Hariri was one i was incredibly reluctant to make. I brought to her my X-rays of both of my excruciatingly painful knees. Of course i wanted a miracle. Her kind and careful counsel was the news i didn't want to hear: my only choice to eliminate the constant pain was total knee replacement and follow-up physical therapy. There are injections that can provide some relief, but at age 77 Dr Hariri cautioned eventually total replacement would be the only fix available. Surgery as i closed in on my eighties would become riskier. So i consented to bilateral knee replacements. First one Feb 2, 2023. She has a fabulous team of nurses, therapists, anesthetists, and whoever else might be required to deliver the best patient care. Second knee done June 14, 2023. Perfect! What needs to be said here is that the follow-up to knee replacement is many weeks of physical therapy during which one must be participating 100%. Knee therapy is hard work. IT IS PAINFUL. However, the truth is that if it isn't hurting you are not working hard enough! It is the very opposite of our mom's teachings to not do some thing or other because it might hurt. Toughing through the pain and working hard, really hard, in therapy will result in a well-working knee that doesn't hurt when you walk, climb stairs, or stand for long periods!! Dr Hariri WILL prescribe pain meds. She is not one of those docs who is reluctant. She understand s that excessive pain can delay healing and cause a patient to be less likely to participate in active PT. Dr Hariri is the most responsive MD i have ever known. If you call with a question, SHE returns your call...by the end of that day! in the meantime, dealing with her office staff is pleasant. They are kind, and considerate. Honestly a physician couldn't be any stranger. There is something wrong with her. Last visit she was bouncing off the walls saying wierd things that made no sense to me (they would not to any medical doctor). pushing me toward trying to get to to "get an injection" for my knee pain, which did not exist all. It was totally strange. Totally. Also she seemed to want to get in line for a total knee which I may have later but its not time yet. Dr. Hariri was so strange I got back to her with basically .... WTF is up with you? She tried to pass her incredibly strange conduct and things she said off as "art of medicine". Said she couldn't explain it in an email. Total BS. I've been around senior physicians since day one, my pop was a prominent doc, public health officer, founded a large medical center in the bay area. As an adult I was luckily around top people in the field of psychology, psychotherapy, communication skills, prior to getting a medical degree where I was focussed on psychiatry and neurology. Huge good luck always. All through my medical training I had great relationships with senior physicians and lecturers. No good physician would ever act so kookoo as she did. In addition quite honestly I commented to another orthopedic surgeon for whom have high respect ... that with Dr. Hariri Im not 100% certain she isn't a life like robot. Ie lacking a humanity. I'm 71 years of age now, never saw anything like it, never this strange. For folks who are impressed by fancy diplomas ... they do not always mean what you may think. What I witnessed while employed by Stanford school of medicine after finishing my medical degree would shock lot of people, including me, even after a lifetime in that neighborhood, of being aware of the bad odor, low level of good things (altruism, kindness,) other than money and prestige. There are some great docs at Stanford no doubt, I've known some. One who was head of Dept. of general surgery for 30+ years. The guy was a saint, Stanford treated him like shit when he retired. I am a 75 year old male 5'10, 250 lbs. After 75 active years, my right knee wore out and needed replacement. My primary care physician referred me to Dr. Hariri. I was somewhat apprehensive because I have friends who have had knee replacements with long and painful recoveries. I am now 6 weeks post-op and I am off pain meds, pain free, walking without assistance, climbing and descending stairs without difficulty. Everything from pre-op through surgery, through 3 weeks of home health care and now 3 weeks of physical therapy went without a hitch. I believe I owe my success to Dr. Hariri. I'd like to tell you some of the things that have made my surgery and recovery successful: 1. I chose a great surgeon and doctor. Dr. Hariri is caring, compassionate, and very competent. 2. Dr. Hariri explained to me in advance and in detail what would happen with my surgery and recovery. She also gave me written a writeup of everything she said. This written material was helpful because I could refer to it repeatedly and my recovery progressed. 3. Dr. Hariri arranged for everything I needed: pain meds, walker, ice machine, range of motion machine, home health care 3 times per week for 3 weeks, and 6 weeks of physical therapy (of which I have now completed 3). 4. Dr. Hariri warned me that the first couple of weeks would be difficult. I was able to wean myself off opioid pain meds in 6 days and replaced them with 250 mg of Tylenol and 600 mg of Ibuprofen every 5 hours for another 2 weeks or so. After that I only used Ibuprofen occasionally. But I found that low level pain was preventing me from sleeping though the night. I called Dr. Hariri and she suggested Melatonin and Motrin PM before bed. That did the trick. 5. I used the ice machine on my knee 30 minutes on, 30 off and all night long for at least 2 weeks; after that I continued to ice as needed. Dr. Hariri explained to me that icing is essential to keeping the swelling and pain level down. 6. I learned from the home health care therapist and physical therapist what exercises I should be doing and followed their advice. 7. I purchased a $200 recumbent exercise bicycle from Amazon and started using it as soon as I felt able. The recumbent bike is an excellent way to build muscle and flexibility. 8. Once or twice I overdid the exercise and my knee became uncomfortable. When that happened, I just took the next day off to ice and rest. 9. Being retired, I set my own schedule. I find that when I am ill or in recovery from and operation, I need to sleep more -- that's how I heal. So I sleep in in the morning and have a nap in the afternoon. 10. I am very lucky that I have excellent medical insurance: Medicare and Medicare Supplement. Except for the exercise bike from Amazon and the over the counter pain meds, I have had no out of pocket expenses. And now, 6 weeks post-op I feel like a new man with a wonderful new knee. I am pain free and back to normal activity. I plan to begin riding my street bike tomorrow and I have 3 more weeks of PT all of which is necessary to build muscle and complete the healing process. I could no be more grateful to Dr. Hariri for her care and compassion. She has kept in touch with me through the whole process and given me excellent advice when I needed it. read more

She's got to be the best knee doc in the South Bay, if not the Bay Area. So knowledgeable - nothing surprises her. Other friends used her as well - and she diagnosed things for them that were misdiagnosed by other doctors. She is almost reticent (look it up) when it comes to doing surgery or not - she wants you to be comfortable and completely sure about the decision. In retrospect I wish I would've asked her "Ok, but what do you think - what does your gut say?" I would've opted for surgery sooner. Surgery - she is awesome. She completely fixed my problem with zero problems or complications. I highly recommend getting your knee drained if it's swollen - zero pain. I couldn't believe it - here she's putting a needle right into the middle of my knee and it did not hurt at all. Couldn't believe it. Dr. Hariri is a fantastic diagnostician! It was super easy to get an appointment. For some reason, it takes weeks, sometimes months, to get appointments with specialists. Not this one...it seems like she is quick and efficient. I also have to credit her staff that is great with scheduling...they called me and asked if I can come in the next day because they had a cancellation. I had an ACL reconstruction and a meniscus repair surgery done by a different doctor 3 years back. I had a very difficult recovery due to complications during the surgery. I did not want to see that surgeon again because of several reasons and after seeing a different orthopedic surgeon who I had a bad experience with, luckily I found Dr. Hariri. I went to her with recurring pain in my injured knee. She examined me thoroughly explaining what she was trying to learn at each step, studied my previous x-rays and MRIs, asked questions about my knee, listened to my concerns carefully (which the other doctor I saw didn't care to do) and ordered an MRI to learn more. I had a follow-up phone appointment with her to discuss the MRI results and she explained clearly what was going on and what measures to take to keep my knee from deteriorating further. She is the best in the business! I've had serious knee issues for over half of my life - starting in the 7th grade. I've had two knee realignments and two arthroscopic surgeries. For years, I've been in serious pain and have been searching for a doctor who could go through my history with me and recommend the right course of action. Dr. Hariri is that doctor! She is the first doctor I've had that went with a conservative and preventative approach while also "fixing" the issues. From her, I learned yes, I do have osteoarthritis and what I can actually do about it. It wan't more surgery thankfully but it was a holistic approach to my care. In 2020 I injured my knees and was referred to Dr Hariri through my podiatrist, Dr Robinson. She was super easy to talk to, professional, and I felt confident in her feedback and approach.
