I've seen Dr Huffer several times for my hip and shoulder. His office is great. I saw dr Bruce a week ago for my shoulder surgery. He advised me to get another MRI. He said his staff will put request for MRI. It has been a week now, nobody has put any request. This doctor signed my death sentence. He review my case from a workers comp injury and stated that I would not continue to decline. 5 years later and every MRI every year shows a decline. Had this been a NEUROSURGEON, they may have been more educated to make this outcome. Now I'm 43 and continuing to decline. Bruce Huffer did ankle surgery at O'Connor Hospital ( San Jose ) of my wife, and we're quite sad to see how unprofessionally the surgery was performed, as we contacted 3 other doctors so far and did multiple X-ray's. From all other doctor's view & based on X-ray's - 1. The implants ( plates & screws ) the doctor placed were placed very wrongly, as they are not placed very stable. 2. Two screws are outside of bone, and are very long which otherwise should have not been used; rather short screws should have been used. This causes issue for my wife as she can feel the pain so will likely need to get another surgery ( ofcourse from another doctor than Bruce Huffer) 3. Bruce Huffer always told us that she does not need physiotherapy, but all other doctors recommended us; so we started with physiotherapy and seeing better results. 4. There are loose bones as confirmed in CT scan. Wish could give zero stars on the review. read more

Dr. Bruce is a nice guy. However, the office experience was really bad. My mom's care giver brought my mom to see Dr. Bruce. He prescribed some medicine to my mom. The receptionist said that my mom would get the medicine the same day. We did not get the prescription after a few days. I called his office many time but no one answered the calls. One time, the receptionist picked up the phone and said the she has sent the prescription to my mom's pharmacy and then asked me to hold. I waited for one hour and then the line was cut. I kept on calling and no one picked up the phone. When I left a voice mail, no one called me back. Then, after 2 months, I received a billing which charged us with the reasoning of "No show for the appointment". It is not true. I was really upset because the truth is that we did show up for the appointment but never received any prescription that they claimed that they sent. Then, recently, I have received another billing which removed the line of "No show for the appointment" but charging us without explaining the reason. I called the office again and again. No one picked up the phone and no one returned my calls even though I left a voice mail. Originally, I don't want to write a bad review. However, this is the only way that I can catch their attention if they care about their business. read more

My husband had a shoulder injury and we visited Dr. Huffer three times over a 6-month period. He never warned my husband of the possibility of a frozen shoulder after injury nor advised us to do a shoulder manipulation after my husband suffered from a frozen shoulder. We visited another orthopedic doctor who performed a very successful shoulder manipulation for my husband which immediately fixed his issue. We regretted seeing Dr. Huffer - my husband wouldn't need to suffer as much if he would have got better advice from other doctors. read more

I was seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time and the doctor was a pleasant guy. He asked me detailed questions about my injury and how it had occurred and performed a diagnosis. Later, he explained, with a model, what had happened and he went into great detail. He also informed me of various possible methods of treatment even though my injury was minor. Back in 2013, I had broken my left elbow. We chose Dr. Huffer and we were glad we did. He thoroughly discussed what was going to happen and the recovery time for healing. I only saw Dr. Huffer once before he referred me to another specialist, but I really feel like he went above and beyond for me. I had a cut on my foot that hurt my tendon. My MRI report said my tendon was fine. However, I still couldn't move my big toe. Dr. Huffer actually took the trouble to go over my MRI with two additional radiologists (who think that my tendon IS damaged) and then phone me personally to tell me he was referring me to a specialist in this area who would take good care of me. Everyone at his office was so nice and it was just a pleasant experience, not the norm with most doctor offices. read more

Very bad experience - AVOID Dr. Huffer! I had total knee replacement with him. He didn't check to make sure that I wasn't allergic to any of the drugs. Unfortunately, I was and HUGE BLISTERS developed around the surgery area for about a week after the surgery. This was the most important time period for recovery and my immune system was also compromised. I was scared that each time the blisters pop, bacterias would get into my knees. It has been more than 6 MONTHS and I still have PAIN in my knee and lower leg....even worse, my lower leg has become SWOLLEN. I shared this with him and all that he could say was that each person's recovery progress is different....well, sure differe, but definitely not worse and worse each day! read more

Dr. Huffer did a total replacement. He struggled with my knee. Wife said it took twice as long as her father's bilateral knee replacement. My nurse had said she had never seen such bad bruising on any knee and entire leg from my toes to my hip area she had ever seen. I would never recommend this doctor to anybody. In fact I am seeing a new specialist at Stanford Orthopaedic because of the poor job Dr. Huffer did on my knee. We had jokingly gave him the nickname Dr. comb over. I also want to point out that I only saw him once at the hospital. Absolutely no follow up. Worst doctor I have ever seen. read more

Never again Twice he wasn't at his office for scheduled appointments. I wasn't the only unhappy patient in his office today. I've been in severe pain with a blown out knee and a ruptured tendon waiting on him since the 1st. Totally unacceptable to leave a patient in this kind of pain for over a week. The receptionist at Dr. Huffer's office was the worst that I ever met, I really feel sorry for hi. Dr. Huffer is a nice doctor and he treated my mom's leg problem well at her first visit. So we made a follow up appointment with the receptionist. Today I went there, she told me my appointment was last Friday. There's no way last Friday, coz I have meeting all day so I will never pick that time. She asked me for the appointment card, I thought that card just a reminder, so I didn't bring it and but I guess that's the only thing to proof myself right in that office. I was in a bad bike crash in 2010. I had a head injury and a broken femur in a few places. I was airlifted from Hollister to Regional Medical Center. I didn't get to choose Dr Huffer but I'm glad I got him. On a Sunday night, same day as the accident he did the surgery. It took a few years to really feel better but now my hip and thigh are just about as good as new. I hear many people talk about how after a broken leg they have problems with one leg shorter than the other or their leg pointing the wrong way or other complications. I had no complications at all.
