I really hate to leave a negative review, but this particular nail tech poses a danger to your health and safety! I only wish I had gotten her name.
Service was for a dip manicure redone and a gel pedicure redone. The pedicure was fine, the older lady gave me a normal pedicure and a younger one did the gel polish.
But the manicure, oh my Lord. First, the nail tech roughly used what looked like dog nail clippers to whack down my nails. Then she soaked my nails in HOT-- and I mean scalding--acetone. Hot, like I said "that's hot, it is hurting me." She just looked at me. I said, "really, it's hurting me, it's burning my hand." So she took that hand out and put the other hand in.
In the meantime, she was using a nail grinder to work at taking off the old dip polish on the hand not in the scalding acetone. Finally, she has some mercy on me, and she takes that bowl of scalding acetone and does something to it and comes back and says, "Try this. Better?" No, not really. But she is obviously not going to do anything about it.
So she continues on, grinding my nail bed for the dozenth time. When some of the dip adhesive doesn't want to come off--it looks like tacky glue--she takes something that looks like pliers and is trying to pull it off. I object. So she stops that.
After a little more of the same, she has gotten off all she is going to get off (not all of it), and pulls out the dip product to start applying the color.
I look at my nails, some of which still have little mountains of old sticky stuff but then I think of what she will do to me to get it off (think scalding acetone, nail grinders, and pliers) and also see that one of my nails has cracks --I mean, deep cracks, down to underneath my nail bed, to the exposed skin. So I ask her if she is going to put colored dip powder on that cracked nail, where it will reach my exposed (and now bleeding) skin.
Yes, she said. No, I said. I ask if she has some kind of nail treatment instead.
Suddenly, she doesn't speak English. I ask for the manager. She says the owner is not there. I say, OK, how about the manager. She calls the manager over, and I explain that I do not want the dip power put on my obviously damaged nails (it is now obvious that it is more than one nail). The manager says OK and comes back with a nail treatment bottle and the nail tech puts one coat--just one, no more, no less--on each nail.
Well, I don't know what started the damage on my nails, if it was the salon who put the dip powder on my nails the last time, or this salon who put my nails and hands in scalding hot acetone and then used a nail grinder for a huge number of minutes. But I sure have a feeling that it was the scalding acetone and the nail grinder that did my nails in. (By the way, since I left the place, more nails are broken off.)
Never again will I set foot in this place. It looks pretty, but if you value your own nails, I say stay away! read more
