We ordered Beef and Broccoli, Chicken Chow Mien, Roast Pork Lo Mein, and two containers of Wonton Soup. Let me say this again and I cannot shout it loud enough, WELCOME BACK JADE PALACE YOU ARE WELL WORTH THE PRICE. Thanks again for not charging a fee for using a card which so many other places are doing. The place is clean, and the people at the counter have always been friendly. We have interacted with the grandfather, mother, father, and child (which we watched grow up from an infant.) This has been and hopefully will continue to be a family business. Jade Palace is a typical Chinese fast food restaurant - nothing great, nothing terrible. The place is clean, the woman at the counter is friendly and the food is OK. I come here about every two weeks or so for dinner for the past twenty plus years. Updating my review as I noticed some recent reviews I felt were either BS or just totally off the mark and lack reasonable evidence to back them up. This is a neighborhood Chinese togo establishment run by a family where everybody in the family works there. If you had been going there for twenty years as some state you would know that. You would have observed kids doing homework after school and then working there and the same kids growing up and heading off to college. It is the same people working in the kitchen because you can see right in there. The portion sizes have remained pretty much the same and the food is as consistent as you will get anywhere similar. If you really want inconsistent when there were other Chinese restaurants in the village of Rhinebeck you could play food roulette but those places are all long gone. In the current supply chain environment where no food provider has had a stable supply chain or pricing I think this place has been just as good as any other provider if not better. As far as prices go they have ben going up the same as every other food provider in Rhinebeck. For the record food providers in Rhinebeck have been higher forever. A dinner portion as a togo Chinese establishment during the summer of 2022 going to be in the $15-$19 range. So August 2022 I ordered Dinner portions of Chicken and Broccoli, Shrimp and Broccoli with Garlic Sauce, General Tso's Chicken Chefs Special and Fried Dumplings appetizer. I have been ordering this combination for years. It cost $65.25 take the tax out the tax and its $60. So three higher end entrees (not combo specials) and a higher end appetizer. Using math (the way we objectively understand the universe) would put that in the same price range as most places and in line with Rhinebeck pricing. The quality of the food was excellent. The quantity was more than an average American should be eating at a meal. (I am big eater and I always come away stuffed here.) I will say the fried dumplings recipe has changed since the pandemic and this opinion will vary by person but the dumplings are lighter and I think have more flavor than previous to the pandemic, the dumplings back then could be a bit heavy. So for the recent one star reviewers I think you need to figure out that you are in 2022 not some fantasy land and actually observe what is in front of you especially if you claim you have been going there for years. read more

Ordered lunch which was terrible and expensive. House special fried rice was tastless, few tiny shrimp, traces of breast pieces and pork.... very disappointing, flavorless and really no different than plain fried rice except for the price! Scallion pancakes were obviously reheated by frying and were burnt and crisp in places...used to be really good, no more, so forget this. Fried dumplings were fried just short of burnt, as if the were refried from leftovers, such a mess. Steer clear, there are better choices in Kingston, NY. read more

Jade Palace was always my go to restaurant last couple times I've been there seems things are going downhill only offer chicken sweet-and-sour ,,( Sweet sour Pork is a must) the crab cheese wontons/crab. This is my third time coming to get food Togo. I have always ordered the #61. moo goo gai pan Their prices for the food I personally believe are reasonable. Mind you I've ordered one item off the menu. I have ordered the special platter which comes with pork fried rice and a egg roll. I'm not much for egg rolls. White rice or pork fried rice have been good. My moo goo gai pan has always been wonderfully tasty. The customer service is goodish..... I feel like they really try to be nice. I was charged $30.50, they reluctantly gave me $2.01 back What the heck...that's the first of it... General Tso chicken was rock hard, sauce was non existent, 2 pieces of raw broccoli, too sweet, not at all spicey... Fried dumplings; dumplings were rancid as was the accompanied sauce... Prices suck and are too much for the portion size Would not here ever again, better off going to Red Hook or Kingston for real good safe Chinese food..would not recommend this to even a worst enemy.. read more

This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. My part of the order consisted of sweet and sour chicken and special fried rice. The chicken was so over cooked and greasy that it crunched when you tried to eat it. The rice tasted so bad I threw it away. This was a total waste of money. Never again. read more

This place doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not, so judged by that metric, it's fine. And by that metric, I mean no-frills, no-ambiance, greasy spoon run-of-the-mill Chinese food. It's probably better to order out than eat in, unless you like disposable plates, plastic cutlery, and cafeteria style tables under fluorescent lights. The food itself is definitely what you'd expect from all of that. It will meet your craving for greasy, sugary Chinese food. If that's what you want, go for it. My daughter likes this place but I don't know why. Every time she persuades me to order here I regret it. The General Tso's chicken is like little strings of deep fried fat even when I order all white meat and not enough sauce. On our last order, I tried their sesame noodles which arrived with a glob, yes, glob of sesame sauce on top, no garnish no green onion no nothing just yuck. Also when placing the order which I hadn't ordered from them in quite some time and I for the life of me could not find a current menu online blindly ordered stuff thinking they would be comparable to most others in pricing. Just got a lunch special. Prices in this area run 6.95 to 7.50. This place almost 9 dollars. I'm the type of person that is always full after any lunch special some times I can't finish all of it. We went there at noon for two takeouts. Both had broccoli and the scant meat they put in, you hardly could find. We ordered boneless ribs as an appetizer and they were hard as a rock. If you hit the plate they sounded like little hammers. The worst part is we spent $55 for two dinners and the rock hard boneless ribs. That's a lot for Chinese especially with hardly any meat in the broccoli and beef, and the Happy family dinner. $55,00 for all broccoli and hard as a rock boneless ribs was a disappointment. For Americanized Chinese food, this is pretty good. Always fresh, always consistent, I'm never disappointed. The owners are very friendly, too. Since reopening during the pandemic they've made special adaptations for picking up food. I miss having more interaction with them. read more

BEYOND disappointed - waste of money. (Used to be pretty good, I don't believe they care now) ... We will NOT be returning. The prices have increased to restaurant sit-down service pricing. My food was of uneven temperature- so I believe it is just microwaved-one side of the bowl was hot while the other was absolutely COLD. I ordered Kung Pao Shrimp- turned out to be only diced blanched (raw) carrots and celery in a bowl of soy sauce with a few peanuts tossed on top; 4 shrimp and 2 (TWO) baby corn pieces, halved and 1 (ONE) water chestnut SLICE and a 3 larger than bite size green pepper "squares" thrown in for appearance ... it was not spicy as one would expect from this dish, and the only flavor was the salt from the soy sauce. (in fact it was so salty it was unpalatable- needless to say after a few bites it landed in the compost heap. The rice was crusty like it had been sitting out, and also unevenly heated. The Eggroll, refrigerator cold in the center and mushy like they thawed it out, but forget to fry it, My husband's was 1/2 crisp and hot- with only 1 shrimp in his shrimp roll, the other side was soggy, as if they forgot to stir it in the oil. and his Sesame chicken was a bowl of fatty gnarly tangled chewy grease that was supposed to be chicken; also overly salted but minimal sauce. 1 piece of barely blanched broccoli. Maybe they are closing and just getting rid of ingredients. Too Bad for them; I wish them luck; but will spend my $ elsewhere. read more

This place has gone way downhill as of late. We ordered two dishes; a shrimp and chicken dish that came with 2 shrimp. And a beef in Brown sauce that had gobs of gelatinous jelly stuck to everything even though it was still hot. The obvious drop in ingredient quality is unfortunate, and made for very very bland flavors. Rhinebeck needs a new Chinese restaurant, as this one has gotten lazy and complacent. read more

It's kind of in a weird place (a strange business complex), but it's worth the stop. Surprisingly clean considering it doesn't look like much on the outside. Got the lunch special shrimp with broccoli good but tasteless vegtables were crisp and different than most but no flavor. The other dish was pepper steak very little meat small portion. Love Chinese but this was a great disappointment and both still hungry could have at least added alittle more rice. Next time will travel farther and get a better lunch. read more

Although I tend not to go into many Chinese restaurants, I had exhausted the list of other foods, and decided to give this place a "second" try. I know that sounds strange, but when i tried this place the first time, not only did i not know of Yelp, but i also didn't have many words to describe the place back then. However, today was a different scoop. I didn't mind the taste of the food, but when they spiced my beef with snow pea dish with soy sauce (they didn't know this but I have a medical condition where I have stomach problems from soybean oils), I really didn't like the feeling of having stomach problems tonight. The other dishes for the others who came with me, were okay. There weren't many other customers, the only other people who showed up, were takeout orders only (during 5:30 pm rush weekend traffic). The only other problem I had that's been keeping me from going in more often are their prices. They are outrageous compared to comparative businesses nearby. There is some parking however, but its only available if you know where the buildings doors are. Tiny bathroom and a bathroom that has a slightly rusty seat, did not please me. Maybe if they changed their image and improved their restaurant with prices, maybe people would come more often and buy, but with all the stuff, ill have to look for other choices. Not many tables, and the tables they did have, were kind of tiny. And before i leave this review, at one point I even saw a boy in there answering phones. He looked no older than 13 years old. read more

Other than the spring rolls, our entire order was pretty awful. The garlic sauce was flavorless except for the fact that it tasted like smoke and was not spicy at all, the carrots were raw in the cooked dishes and the fried rice tasted like bland grease. Craving a Chinese meal after being in Northern Dutchess Hospital for a couple of days I thought I would try Jade Palace. First impressions was that it was an extremely basic place somewhat outside of the village of Rhinebeck. Prices however were not basic. I did decide to give it a go and got the combination plate of chicken lo mein, pork fried rice and a spring roll. The roll was very rubbery so immediately was discarded. The lo mein and the fried rice tasted the same. The rice was somewhat dry and had very little pork in it. The lo mein was cooked ok but was distinctly boring in flavour. It is a shame that it is the only Chinese place in the village. Definitely not a place to have on your refrigerator. read more
