    a plate of sushi
    Bethany O.

This rating reflects food only, sushi specifically. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile (yes, in English) and seated right away. Inside, the decor is beautiful! The tables and floors were impeccable! The waitress explained the menu, brought our drinks and answered a couple of questions. She took our order and at this point it was definitely 5 stars. The soups and salads were delicious. But, the sushi, not so much. Don't get me wrong, it was good. But, just not the best I've had.

I am so annoyed with this place ! I placed a huge order for my work family and it wasn't up to par !!!!!!!! My co worker ordered a squid salad and they tried to tell us they would credit it the next time fee ordered... which is unacceptable ! They sent it fifteen minutes later ! My other co worker order sweet and sour chicken with white rice and they sent it with vegetable fried rice ! The shrimp tempura had brown avocado ! NEVER AGAIN we spent way too much money for things to be wrong and gross !

Food was good. But service was awful. Took forever to get soup. Then some were wrong. Hard to get even a glass of water.

Amanda was the first face to greet us, and she is so sweet and welcoming. The restaurant has such a great, friendly vibe. Bonus points for the spacious parking, which makes getting in and out completely stress-free. The food highlights: The Bread Basket: Not your average starter! It comes with bread, pita, and an amazing hummus that rivals my own mother's. Plus, fried dough that my daughter polished off instantly. Burrata Board: Super unique, fun presentation, and totally delicious. Main Courses & Kids: The kids sliders and fries were a massive hit with my daughter. My chicken and eggplant over pasta was phenomenal and tasted so fresh. Dessert: The chocolate lava cake was the perfect, rich ending to a great dinner. We left totally full, happy, and leftovers for tomorrow from the generous portions. It is a complete turnaround from how it used to be under the old owners. Five stars all the way, highly recommend!

Unfortunately, the pictures+reviews on Yelp are disappointing enough that I almost talked us out of coming here. Hubs still wanted to try it. We were pleasantly surprised. The Bowery D has two flrs. You can sit downstairs- which is used for mostly for events- but we were told most people head upstairs and that's what we did. The main dining rm is carpeted, spacious and has a decent-sized bar. The first thing we noticed was the nice seafood smell in the air. So why come here? Raw oysters for one. Also because hubs has had Lobster Newburgh on his mind lately and the closest thing these folks offer is a mixed seafood Newburgh. He went for it. Result? He liked it. My Swai fish was tasty, though I was expecting something a bit flashier than sweet potato fries. My Jamboozle cocktail didn't have any oomph so I stuck to water after that. Service was great and the food was good. A nice surprise for a spot that doesn't totally shine on Yelp.

They have a lot of seating and a good menu price range. My favorite thing about the menu is that they have duck fat fries! If you never had your French fries fried in duck fat then you are missing out!!! Now I wish I could give them 3.5 stars. I highly raved about this place but the last time I came it was such a disappointment. Our waitress though very friendly was not very attentive. We couldn't find her when we needed things and when we asked for things she didn't bring them. Now I'm sure she was busy and we never complained but that mixed with the fact that our food was just alright made me drop it a few stars. Also the cleanliness of the restaurant wasn't the best, including the glassware. Now to be fair every other time I have come the food was fantastic. I typically always get the general tso fried chicken sandwich and I love it. So maybe it was an off day we all have those. I will go back again and see if they redeem themselves! Also I just want to make mention the sandwiches do not come with duck fat fries you have to specifically ask for them to be the duck fat ones.

It's a huge space with a lot of room for regular and hibachi tables, with modern decor. Service is very friendly and consistent which is not always the case with these kinds of places. They had an issue with one of the vents while we were here, however they quickly fixed it. Just needed to leave the back door open for a bit. Drinks were on the sugary side which is typical; my mai thai was good however I couldn't do 2. Soup and salad were good. Chef was one of the better hibachi chefs I've gotten. Wish they flipped shrimp instead of veggies for an appetizer, but hey, recession. More importantly than the presentation and show (which was good), they did a really good job with the food. Steak was perfectly cool if a bit over seasoned. Scallops were seared better than I've had at a lot of fancier restaurants. Massive portions too when the veggies, noodles and rice were factored in too. Of course my food got switched at home, and I got a fuckton of chicken instead of my steak. I mourned this, however will survive to return again.
