Really Bad. I went here Friday night, none of the food was refilled, most were empty. The server only checked up on us once when getting our drinks and then giving us the check. I tried of of the sushi they had and it was cold, mushy, and unappetizing. There was not much of a selection with food. We stayed for 30 minutes and never saw any of the hibachi staff on the floor so we didn't bother grabbing the raw food to get it cooked. The beef entrees served there were low quality and tasted like nothing and horrible gummy chewy texture. The only good things were the pre-made and store bought desserts. Our total was around $40 for two people and one lemonade. The bathroom was horrible as well. The ceiling is growing black mold and none of the soap dispensers work. What a nice surprise! I want sure what to expect since at the time I went the rating average was 2.4. Normally I won''t even think about going into a place with a rating under. I placed my order on the phone and it was ready at the exact time they had told me to arrive. The restaurant is off the main road and unless you were looking for it and driving the back lots you would never find it. Note this is Bluffton and no business is really visible from the main road. The food was very good. We ordered Wonton Soup, Chicken Chow Mein, Pork Egg Foo Young, Steamed Chicken, Egg Rolls, and Shrimp Fried Rice. It's important to note that we have spent most of our lives in Long Island NY so we have set the bar fairly high for comparison. We enjoyed all dishes and the soup was particularly flavorful.. Note that Jade Garden also has a buffet that looked fresh and inviting. The food did not appear to be a dried out from sitting there all day. If you stop in on the fly they will give you a styrofoam box and you can load it up with whatever you choose. I believe the cost was $8.99 a pound. If you want to sit down and eat in the restaurant the atmosphere is very nice and clean. We were staying in the neighborhood for a week and we ordered food here two as additional evenings. For one I am not a buffet type person. I'm only giving it two stars for the unsweetened ice tea and for simply not wanting to be so rude. However I guess it being 730 pm might be a contributing factor. In my opinion if you are going to be open the trays should at least be full or semi full with hot food or at least warm, and at least be tasteful. These are not. I was in a hurry and hungry and have been craving Asian cuisine. I thought this buffet would offer the usual healthy choices and variety. NOT! I should have walked the buffet before accepting a seat and picking up a plate. I arrived about 5:00 p.m. The bar already looked stale, old, and some things were put on the line because they ran out of ideas - hence seafood spaghetti, pimiento sushi, and the list goes on. I can usually find lean protein, sautéed veggies (green beans, broccoli), Singapore noodles, etc, but struck out. I put a teriyaki chicken skewer on my plate and some yakisoba noodles. Chicken skewer was tough and the yakisoba noodles were flavorless and oily. I left without eating and paid the $16.99 because I felt obligated. My beverage was a water. 2.5 stars for Jade Garden sounds about right. This is your run-of-the-mill Chinese buffet so come with tempered expectations. It's only $10 for all-you-can-eat, so the value is there and it's the main reason why I'm bumping this place up to 3 stars. Surprisingly, there is a lot of variety for just 10 bucks, but you also get what you pay for. It shows in the food's poor to mediocre quality. Jade Garden is located near the Tanger Outlets on 278 (Fording Island Road). It's tucked away in a strip mall and hard to see from the road. Look for Saigon Cafe, another restaurant in the same shopping center, which is easier to find. The restaurants are on the same side of the road as the outlet malls. Our family has been coming here on and off for years. The inside is a little bit nicer than one would expect. Unlike typical Chinese "super" buffets, Jade Garden is more quiet. There are a few different dining rooms. The main dining room has privacy walls set up between sections, which is nice. The decor, floor to ceiling, isn't too shabby for a cheap Chinese buffet. I like the steamed clams. They're just so tiny. However, for the price, I'm not complaining. The fried flounder, when fresh, may be their best item. Quite crispy and delicious actually. Disappointments include the egg tarts (blech), the salt and pepper calimari (way too soggy and oily), cheese mussels (it could do without the heavy cheese), pork ribs (too fatty, excessively thick sauce), and several of the desserts. I'm sure many of the foods are prepackaged. For example, the peaches, Mandarin oranges, cookies, etc. could easily have come from a can or box. For low-end buffet sushi, the sushi rolls are not terrible. I like that they actually use tobiko (green and orange colored), real fish, and don't overload the rolls with too much rice which is typical of economic Asian/sushi buffets. One of the most memorable things about this restaurant for me has been the ice cream. There's a freezer in a back corner of the restaurant, near the other desserts, that contains boxes of "Wholesome Farms" single-cup ice cream. Many customers walk past the non-descript freezer and don't realize there's ice cream to be had in there. The ice cream cups remind me of the ones served at elementary schools. In fact, it may be the same because Wholesome Farms is a Sysco product. Service is fine. In addition to the buffet, you can call in orders for take-out. There is no delivery service. read more

Even though I have always been skeeved to eat here starting with the wet cigarette butts floating in an ashtray right outside the front door. HISSS. I've been coming here for long time, and so far never had a bad experience. The food is always delicious. Not much of choices when it comes to sushi, but I love it. And it can be different at each visit. They have a hibachi grill as well, which I love. They recently quit doing shrimp on it, due to allergies some customers may have. Which I think is considerate really. Don't worry, they do have shrimp dishes in the buffet. They just don't do shrimp on the grill. The staff is friendly. Also I have read the past reviews and a lot of them are old. So even though they may be bad, beat to check the dates before you decide. It was "a'ight". I gave it a 4th star, because it had a haibachi side, which was rather exceptional. This is the ONLY decent buffet close enough to us. Up in Memphis, were I'm originally from, we've had Chinese restaurants off the Yin-Yang - pun intended. And, they were pretty competitive with one another. I do give credit where it's due. However, one minor complaint is the one waitress, who seemed like she wasn't enjoying her job much, speaking rather cross-like when a party left a mess on the table, or if she was walking behind someone who had a slower pace than she did. We came here on a Friday night for dinner. Buffet was alright. Majority of the selection looked like it's been out for a while. Dim sum especially the sticky rice, some sushi rolls, egg tarts, green beans, and mixed vegetables were okay. This was probably the best tasting options here. Cookies were hard and stale. Also, the price is only $10.00. So, even if your experience is below average, you won't feel like you got ripped off. The main reason the experience was poor was for the simple fact the food was not fresh. The chicken dishes I had were cold and the rice hard. Rice is not supposed to be hard to chew. There's was. I had some soup and that was on the cold side too. What's the point of coming here. I have to have decent rice with my Chinese dishes. This was a completely failed visit to a restaurant. I have eaten at this restaurant for years and it was always superb! Last week, however was a different story. This is a buffet and menu order establishment. Dad wanted buffet. Buffet steam tables were not "steaming" and all the food was luke warm at best. I told our server and followed her over to the steam table where she checked to see if it was hot. A gentleman came out from the kitchen and they started talking Asian to each other. Said gentleman opened up the bottom doors to where the steam tables were and had a perplexing look on his face and I saw him turn them on. That's great! However, instead of taking all the food out to get it up to temperature, they kept going over and stirring the food to I suppose blend in the heat from the bottom. Major fail in health department standards here. Warming food up from a cold state in a steam table makes bacteria grow like crazy. After seeing this, we left. Didn't eat there. Not sure if I will be back. Not worth getting sick over someone's laziness, and lack of health department standards. On our way to Java Burrito for the first time now. One star is a little much for the restaurant. This buffet has hours to be opened to 10pm. We walked in at 7:50 pm. The fried rice was stale. 80% of the food was gone and not replenished. After having half a plate I went up to possibly get more. As I was approaching the buffet area one of the employees was refilling the bottle for the orange sauce, usually used for sushi. she tried to fill it but a good amount of the sauce didn't make it inside the bottle. Instead of wiping it and maybe use a funnel instead, she used her finger to wipe the sauce and scraped it in from her figure using the top of the bottle. I understand it was late and they were starting to cleanup but if you have hours set for 10pm expect to give full service until then. Bad service and lost my appetite. Was not worth the money. Surprisingly, the food was decently good. I am originally from California (so I know good, authentic Chinese food) and I have yet to find a good Chinese restaurant in the Beaufort area. My husband and I settled for this place since we were hungry and the place we wanted to eat at was closed for the weekend. They have a decent selection of food. Dangerous experience tonight. My family and local living in-laws made another trip here. This time we asked for chocolate milk for our 2 and 5 year old boys. My 2 year old took a mouthful of boiling hot water and was burned. He screamed with pain as we comforted and aided him. The staff did it respond in any way and was unsupportive until we urged to see management. The very inexperienced and young manager and staff attempted to make amends after we explained what happened. We strongly suggest caution when visiting if you make the choice.
