Our first visit: Possibly our last visit.... My travel rule is to enjoy Regional Cuisine, and Hilton Head has Much to offer. No burgers, wings, pizza.... NOT a date night for us, and I would not consider asking my wife. Small parking lot for this strip mall was filled upon our departure from lunch. Perhaps, a $15.00 lunch on Hilton Head is a good value -- Not for us. There is no Thai or Japanese on the lunch buffet. Zero ambience, and nearly zero service.... Lots of construction workers and a line of carry out. Lots of chicken, and it all "tasted" alike. Shrimp merits a shout out, and it soon disappeared from buffet. We do NOT recommend; just not up to our many, many Hilton Head experiences. read more

I just had about the worse dining experience of my life (I'm 88). The menu pictured a whole cooked duck and listed it as - "Peking Duck": Whole duck $50 / Half Duck $29. Being a lover of duck, I ordered the Half Duck. What the waiter brought out was about 5 or 6 ounces of duck pieces, and proceeded to wrap it up in flour tortilla shells. I told him I had ordered a Half Duck; he continued making duck tortillas and said "Yes. This is Half Duck." I insisted he stop, and I proceeded to take the pieces out of the tortillas and put it over some rice. It gets worse. When the bill arrived, sure enough it said Half Peking Duck - $29. I explained to the waiter that what I got was not a half of a Peking Duck. He said, that is what they serve as Peking Duck. I asked to talk to the Manager; she just repeated what the waiter said. I asked her to discount the price to match what I had received. She left, and sent the cashier over to repeat the same line, and left. I got the impression this was not the first time they had been confronted on this. I proceeded to the cashier's station with my money in my hand. The cashier said the owner told her to give me a $6 discount. I handed her the money. Now it was time to confront the waiter (the only bright spot of the evening) and explained to him that his tip was being shorted because I just paid too much for something I never got. Our waitress recommended a Japanese soda for Whitaker (6yo) and he happily tried the grape! Opened with a loud pop, and it was different than any other soda we have ever seen. We had two types of dumplings and both were delicious. The pan fried gyoza were smaller and lightly crispy, while the steamed potstickers were larger and doughy in the best way. Entrees were the chicken and snow peas, eggplant in garlic sauce (we added shrimp), and house lo mein. Everything was delicious! The service here is so pleasant! This restaurant does lots of carryout, but the diners sitting down inside are getting the best treat, because it really is a hidden gem. Looking forward to going back! read more

This was a hidden gem. Waitress was so attentive and personable. Food was amazing. Started with Gyoza (Japanese dumplings). Delish. Best I have ever had. The hubs and kids had California Rolls and Spicy Tina. They stared they were delish; ginger and wasabi was super fresh. I had the chicken Holy Basil a Thai dish. Sooo good. The rest of the family had Orange chicken, general tao chicken, and Mongolian beef. They all raved about there dishes. The portion size was decent so we have delicious left overs for lunch tomorrow. Rarely, are you able to get good pad Thai at an Asian fusion or Chinese restaurant. This pad Thai was very very good with the perfect balance of flavor, including the lime, the peanuts, the sesame. The chicken was some of the best done chicken in a pad Thai that chopped into smaller pieces, and clearly freshly made. The pan fried dumplings were slightly above average with taste and texture, but a little small. We had a takeout order, so our service was limited to the reception, and it was on time, and the reception/hostess was very friendly. Look forward to returning to what appeared to be a modern and comfortable dining room. read more

Sit down food is spot on, service is spectacular because of Jack and the ambiance is comfortable. You're going to enjoy the variety of cuisine, Chinese, Japanese and Thai. Now I have a linking for egg foo young. I've tried 3 places and this place makes a good set of three with dark gravy. I tried sunny China (which is a take out) and they make a set of three Pattie's with light brown sauce. I called express wok and they hung up on me. As I peruse the restaurants I'll let you know what I find. Preference is light gravy but Sunny stopped answering their phone when I called their new number which I used before to get my first order. So I default to Asian bistro which my spouse prefers with dark gravy. Oh well. Cravings have their way don't they? read more

Jack is the MVP at Asian Bistro!!! He was our server for dinner when we visited in May 2024. He was prompt, delightful, and personable. The food itself was fantastic. My family shared three dishes: crab rangoon, a roll, and orange chicken. We were kind of basic with our choices, but it was all delicious. The saketinis in particular were noteworthy! Hilton Head Island doesn't have a lot of Asian food choices. While all food I've had on the island has been delicious, this place stands out as far as cuisine and quality. The dumplings were excellent and the rice and fortune cookies were fine but the sweet and sour shrimp was absolutely awful. One of the worst meals ever and so we go back to our original opinion to never eat there again. our first clue should have been when I attempted to order sweet and sour pork. We went in expecting to let our kids try some sushi and the buffet seemed like a good option. When we heard kids are $7.95 we agreed to the buffet. No one told us the age was up to age 9 and I had to pay for my 10 and 12 year old as adults, my 10 year old picked at some noodles and ate jello for the most part. So I really can't complain here. I came for the lunch buffet and it's an incredible amount of food for an incredibly reasonable price. The buffet has a good assortment of different options, from crab rangoons, to a variety of chicken dishes, to soups, to sushi. I had a bit of a tummy ache after coming here, but if you're careful you'll be fine. The restaurant inside is pretty swanky, and the staff was friendly and helpful. For context we had our food delivered via Doordash. It was a good experience overall. The menu sports a variety of items, allowing everyone the ability to get what they are craving. I got myself a delicious hot and sour soup abs enjoyed it very much. We shared a variety of special sushi rolls and every single one of them was exquisitely prepared. I would absolutely re-order each item. I recommend kinuta spicy tuna roll for anyone that's watching their weight. If you like mango and spice, the Mango Lobster Roll is very unique and delicious. The yummy California roll is a great take on the classic. The only downside of the whole experience was that they did not give us enough utensils and soy sauce which is an issue specific to delivery. read more

The buffet had some really good items (like their general tso chicken or green beans), but it also had a lot of plain/ok food items. Nothing really impressive at the buffet, but the food wasn't bad. Service was good (refills and collecting finished plates) and they had gloves for the buffet (mostly everyone used gloves) along with hand sanitizer. It was pretty busy and a good amount of people were there, so the buffet was constantly being refilled (because a lot of food was being eated). Interior was clean and had take-out option for their food. The buffet was about $11 per person which was not bad price. If you are hungey and just want some american style chinese food then this is the place to go. (Though I would rate this place a 3.5 Stars if yelp had the option.) read more

Had an excellent dinner with my wife tonight and the service was impeccable. Ordered the massaman curry chicken and Thai cashew shrimp, ice cream for dessert, with a couple of Mai Thais. Again, the waitress Bing was very knowledgeable, engaging, timely and personable. Definitely will be back upon our return to the Hilton Head area for another 1 week vacation. The place was practicing table social distancing, was very clean, actively disinfected & sanitized often and also has UV-c lighting installed for further germ disinfecting. We were looking for a quick takeout dinner and everyone agreed on Chinese food. Let me start by saying the only way to set their menu through their website is to pretend you are actually placing an online order. Since we had to go through the online tool anyway, we added the items we desired to our cart. Upon check out it gave us some crazy message about dealing with our order "in time". No mention of how long the order would take before we could pick it up. When my husband went to pickup the food, which had already been charged to our credit card, he noticed that half the items were not in the bag. They were adamant that everything we ordered was there. My husband told them to add up the cost of the items in the bag so they could see the discrepancy between what they charged us for and what they prepared. Apparently the items we ordered showed up on 2 separate slips of paper and they had only seen one, so my husband had to wait for the rest of the food we ordered. On to the food - Egg rolls aren't great, beef and broccoli was fine. House fried rice was good as was my daughter's egg drop soup. However the vegetable lo mein smelled sour and my daughter did not enjoy it. My husband enjoyed the beef on a stick and his beef fried rice. Just passing through Hilton Head on a family vacation and decided to stop in for dinner. We ordered the General Tso's chicken, Kung Pao chicken, Pad Thai, and spicy tuna roll. The flavors and quality were fantastic, no complaints! It was really nice to be able to try 3 different culinary styles in one night -- loved the variety! But what really made the night for us was the outstanding table service provided by Jack! He is an amazing, friendly, and accommodating waiter, who is truly focused on providing the best possible experience for customers. I've scarcely met a more friendly waiter than Jack. Warning! Check your receipt before leaving a tip! Upon reviewing my receipt a few days after we had dinner at the Asian Bistro I noticed a $11.99 "service charge". When I called to ask about it I was told it was the gratuity. My husband didn't expect it since we were only a party of four, so when he paid the bill he added a tip. So the server, who wasn't that great got a 38% tip. The gentleman at the counter offered us the buffet to go and was very friendly and nice to us so we decided to give it a try. The buffet was very small and only had a few items on it and a lot of what they had was not refilled much including only 2 wontons in the soup.
