I called "Jacques Cabaret" to ask a quick question - That is literally what I said to the man or woman whom answered the phone. They rudely said, "okay? Make it quick!" Then they proceeded to not listen to what I was saying. "Jacques Cabaret," first impressions matter - And you did not make a good one. You never know who you are speaking too, or looking down on. I work with some of the most influential make up artists in the country, and it's safe to say that none of them act unprofessional like this. I will no be recommending this place to anyone. "Jacques Cabaret," if one of your staff members acts messy, you are all messy. read more

I went to Jacques with my girlfriends to celebrate my 30th birthday on March 8,2014 I had an amazing time that is until the lights came on and another patron attending the same show started with one of my friends the fight was broken up just as quick as it started and we left the venue. Upon getting outside we realized that one of my other friends had forgotten her jacket downstairs so her and another friend went down the stairs to retrieve it upon going downstairs she was confronted with the girl from earlier that had started the fight and got her coat and left mean while my other friend that had gone with her didn't realize she had already retrieved her coat ( due to crowding ) and went to look for her downstairs upon her coming up the stairs she was faced with a member of Jacques security staff who was swearing at her saying why are you here and get the fuck out of here. All she was was trying to do was look for our friend !!! He then proceeded to grab her upper right arm and as he grabbed it he twisted it a little bit and walked her all the way to the door during all this time my friend was not combative or rude she was not yelling or swearing at him she just was looking for our friend. Once he had pushed her outside almost immediately she felt a burning sensation on her arm where the man had grabbed her she pulled up her sleeve to find a bruise already starting to show. When seeing that she had been badly bruised she was visibly upset and went to talk to management . Management did nothing and was more concerned about if she had her belonging rather then what their staff had done to one of their customers !!!!! We were basically told to leave the premises! They did not file an accident report or take any names ...... Since that night my friend has seen a dr because her bruise has become more pronounced and swollen the dr said that she has sever deep tissue damage but will be ok we also went to the local police department seeking professional advice. I am saddened that I have to say that a fun night on the town turned into my friend being pretty much assaulted by someone who is supposed to be professional and deals with the public on a daily basis .... If it wasn't for this horrible thing happening to my best friend I would have spread the word about the amazing time I had ,but now I have to tell people about the nightmare that my friend endured...... read more

This place is a gross filthy dive. Especially the downstairs. Staff are rude, drinks are in plastic cups and they've a terrible drinks selection. The Queen is not funny at all- made everyone in our group of 12 totally cringe. Everything has to paid for in cash, yet the ATM machine doesn't work if someone is on the landline. WTF year is this? Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

WOW This place was great!! We brought our office staff for our holiday party and boy was that a good choice. We had so much fun!!! I can not believe that I have lived in the Boston area and never heard of this place. Really really funny!! read more

Went out as a group of eight of us for a night in Boston - a friend had been very disappointed not to go to Jacques for her bachelorette, so I figured we might as well look into it. We had an absolute blast. We were here the night after Christmas, so there weren't too many people there. The performers were hysterical, the company was good, the waitress kept our drinks filled... All in all, we'll be back again this spring for another reunion and night out! read more

I went last weekend for my annual birthday trip to Jacques, and I was seated in their new 'downstairs' portion of the club. I love Jacques, which is why I come back every year to celebrate--this time, I was really disappointed. The queens downstairs were definitely second string, they kept making disparaging remarks about being downstairs. They even started collecting money before they had even begun to perform. One of the queens refused to smile for most of her numbers. The whole night there were maybe 2 top 40 songs, the rest were awful (really, they were awful. I love 80s and 90s music, and remixes, but these were just painful.) 90s techno remixes to songs from the 80s and 90s. Oy. There were two poles blocking the lackluster stage, which was impossible to see if you weren't in the front row. Unlike the upstairs, the downstairs 'stage' (I use the term loosely) isn't in the middle of the seating, which means if you're in the back, you're out of luck. It was $10 ill spent. There was a bouncer on the stairs who prevented anyone from going upstairs to see the actual show, he even kept my friend from going to the bathroom (the one downstairs had an enormous line). I was very disappointed, and when I brought it up to management, they played dumb. It was a very uncharacteristic experience because I usually have a great time at Jacques. If Jacques is going to put people downstairs, they should at least mention that when you call and make a reservations. Do better, Jacques! read more

For what it is, a drag show pandering to bachelorette parties, Jacques deserves 5-stars. For what it claims to be, the best drag in Boston, it deserves 1-star. The ladies are Jacques are fierce in their attire and attitudes, but the dancing and lip-syncing underwhelmed. Any drag show--queens or kings--that I've seen in Pittsburgh was infinitely better. In fact, the ladies at Jacques barely dance and spend most of the time pretending to violate those audience members in veils and plastic tiaras. However, the majority of the crowd seemed to love it. I was there with a bachelorette party, and only the two of us with enough gay friends to start a hockey team knew any better: this was not good drag. That said, I overall enjoyed the music choices (loved the Whitney in particular) and still had a fun time dancing with my group. I can't say enough good things about the bartenders, who took very good care of our group with strong pours and by directing queens across the room to us. They were easily bought off so our bride could get a lot of attention. Also, I had stopped with the bride at an ATM on the way while everyone else went in and when the bride went in front of me, it looked like she was all alone in her ridiculous bachelorette get-up, so the queen at the door let her in for free. If you are looking for true drag on a Saturday night, you will be disappointed. But if you are looking to take a bunch of ladies out for a bachelorette party, Jacques is your place. Make a reservation weeks in advance if you want guaranteed seats. Also note that everything there is cash only. read more

By far one of my favorite places to wind down a night (particularly those of holidays) with friends. It's wonderfully tragic and fantastic at the same time. Performance range from stellar to scary. If you haven't gone and love a good (or bad) drag show and getting accosted in the audience (beware of Mr. Lady) then this is the place for you. It's fun and the drinks are cheap. Go early to get a table. read more

This is a dive bar. DIVE. I'm pretty sure I got tetanus just by walking in. The space is in pretty rough shape and I thoughtfully mapped out all of the exits, in case the building collapsed. However, the staff is friendly and polite - so refreshing from your typical gay centered bar in the Boston area. I went here for the drag show...one of the best I've seen in a while. ..original, daring and hysterical. A star for your friendly staff, 3 stars for Katya. read more

My friend and I went the day after New Year's and we had a lot of fun it was empty that night except one other couple but it was still fun nonetheless. I would highly recommend that you bring singles or money to tip them. They don't take card anywhere except maybe the entry fee. read more

The problem isn't with the performers, they are fabulous. The problem is the place has become a destination for bachelorette parties, so the place is mobbed with young drunk girls... Destiny is amazing and fabulous, but the crowd.. they get pretty annoying. It used to be better before it was wall to wall bachelorettes. read more

Oh boy, another review from a heterosexual woman who happened to be a member of a bachelorette party... *yawn* This place had plenty of them, but there were not only straight women there, despite what some other reviews said. There were plenty of gay men and women. The patrons were very nice and the bartender was friendly. We tried to make a reservation months in advance but were told to call back closer to the date. Two weeks prior, tried again and were told they were booked and that we should've called a week sooner. Standing room only. I don't know what to expect as I have never seen a drag show before, but it was a little of what I expected and a little of what I didn't. I DID expect fantastic performers putting on a fun and exciting show. What I didn't expect was for one of said performers to shove our bride's face in some guy's crotch. Or to try to stick a penis straw up her crotch. Or to walk around up ending drunk women in skirts, spreading their legs and peeking in all the while singing "show me your Pussy." Besides the obvious semi violating incidents, the show was great. The atmosphere was fun and we had a great drunk time! The waitress was a little rude, but like I said, a lot of drunk people so she probably had had enough. Would I go again? Yes. I would just be sure to wear pants and watch, not participate. read more

I came here twice and I had a great time. drinks aren't too expensive and some of the acts are really entertaining.

I went there for a bachelorette party and it was the best night! The performers are hysterical and really interactive with the audience. We called ahead and reserved a table and landed the table right at the front of the stage. They bring people up to the stage if its your birthdays or bachelorette party. It is one of those places you walk into and ask yourself "how did we end up here???" but by the end of the show it was worth every penny. read more

My friends and I planned on coming here for a bachelorette party. We were told over the phone that there were no available tables, but as long as we got in line at 9pm for the 10:15pm show, we would be able to get in and hang out at the bar. We followed these instructions, but unfortunately, waited in line for 45 minutes in the cold only to be told that if we did not have a reservation, we could not get in!! One of the people I spoke to after the fact told me they also had a bad experience. Although they had made a reservation for a bachelorette party, they were almost denied at the door. The maid of honor who planned the event got into an argument with one of the doormen and had to go as far as talk to the manager in order to convince then to honor their reservation. Word to the wise: this is clearly a popular place and they do not care about getting your business. read more

Jacques was recommended to me by a couple of friends to celebrate my birthday weekend. I called weeks in advance to reserve a table. But, there was no availability for the date I chose. I asked the gentlemen if their was capacity requirements he said " as long as you show up everyone will get in Noone gets left out! " Wrong!! I showed up with a couple of my friends which was four of us. They stopped us at the door asked if we had a table reserved and the name. I said No. Then she looked at a gentleman which had the # clicker and she told him "we only have room for 3" and there was 4 of us. He looked at his clicker confused and agreed with what she said. And the place was not packed there's was empty sits by the bar and very few people. I feel it was a race card pulled! Never going here and won't recommend to anyone. I give it -5 stars! Owners need better door people! read more

Went on a Sunday night with a group of 5, mostly ladies. First, it's near the theatre district, really close to the Blue Man Group building, but just far enough off that it's sort of in a poorly lit residential alley-like place. Sorta creepy. When you walk in the door, it doesn't get better. The bar/builidng itself is a dive. The bathroom smelled like homeless people. All that said, their beer prices were quite affordable. BUT! We were not there for that. We were there for the (drag) ladies. There were 4 dancers, one of whom was performing for the first time. They were great. Great make-up, cool outfits, and between the 4 of them (each dancing 3 times I think) they had a good mix of music and dance style. It was relatively empty in there, with two 5-person groups and three couples. Also, one random strange guy that was NOT quite right in the head. But having less ppl meant that we had a great seat right up front and had plenty of opportunities to give away dollar bills, y'all. It was quite a fun night. read more

Who wouldn't be stumped about what to do for a two-bride lesbian bachelorette party? I certainly was, but I was more than determined to show my sister and her bride-to-be a good time. Jacques didn't disappoint. I can't think of a better way to please a mixed group of lesbians and straight girls than to watch the show at Jacques...everyone was happy! That Destiny is hotter than almost any girl I've seen, and Misery can do a jump-to-split that would impress Mary Lou Retton. Jacques is a good time any way you slice it. Just bring lots of ones and make sure you've got a friend to help you out the door after the mind-bogglingly-strong drinks. read more

I decide to go to Jacque's as the lone male wolf with four other gals. People are telling me I'm a good sport, preparing me for the worst. Well the fears were unfounded. I had a great time, how can you not. You have your choice of fire water in small plastic cups. You can hang out in the front bar area for some interesting people watching. Then you have the show, boy what a show! Every drag queen was entertaining, with dollar bills flying left and right, but the most impressive from a "I can't believe my eyes but that's a man!?" was Destiny. She must make the others jealous. I smiled and I laughed. I'm looking forward to catching the Asian night show. read more

Had a lot of fun for my birthday. The queens are all very beautiful downstairs and great entertainers.

had my lovely surprise bday here! from the outside, it looks like a skeevy, dirty place. one of those grungy, hole in the wall type of place, where STDs could have legs and walk all over you. after some pushing and shoving by my bf, i walked in and i was welcomed by glittery tassles and a small stage. i did not know what to expect until i saw the drag queens. the performance was fabulously funny and vulgar. they sing current pop songs and replace the lyrics with words such as anal, penis, vagina, you wish you had some, etc. it's a great place to have a girls night out, parties, etc. drinks are horrible but beer is cheap. just go, no need for hesitation. * secure, confident males only to be attended- the drags will rub whatever they got all over his face, just cuz* read more

Jacques is definitely unique... nowhere else in Boston will you find a place like this. I had been saying for ages that I would visit, but now that I live down the street, and found out they had a Russian-themed evening on the first Monday of every month, I really had no excuse. I popped my drag show cherry when I came here for lovely Katya's Perestroika show. You won't get lonely on a Monday night here but you won't have to push through crowds to get a drink and a good seat. It was so much fun and laughs and entertainment! I had a ball! read more

So much fun. Beat place so far in Boston that we've been. The staff was super nice. We got there an hour earlier than the show to get a good bar seat. Tables did open up but they were given to other parties bc they were bigger. Our bar seats were actually the best seats. Would Def. Recommend this place. read more

Saw my first drag queen show a couple weeks ago at Jacques! It was a blast! It was so entertaining! Part stand up comedy, definitely raunchy, but oh so much fun! The seasoned bartender, Johnny was so fun to watch/listen to...yet he was just being himself and not trying to be funny! The queens were amazing, and we met so many fun people! I can't wait to go back! A great night is pretty much a guarantee! read more

This is the WORST place to celebrate a bachelorette party because the manager was very rude. Granted that we did not have a reservation, but there was no reason for her to be mean, cold and unprofessional. All we did was ask questions and she just shooed us [and kicked us out]. The place was not even packed! I did not understand why we were treated so badly. read more

I came to Boston......one of my favorite cities to visit....last Saturday on business. Not wanting to be a hotel room prisoner I went in search for some good old drag and fun gay crowd. Man did I pick the wrong spot ! I was glad that it was a short walk from my hotel and fairly easy to find. Then it went down hill from there.......there was a guy with a clipboard standing outside and asked if I had a reservation. ..when I said no he threw me some attitude and stuck his head in the door, then he opened the door and let me in.... I had to laugh .....I was the only one at the door and there were only a few inside. OMG you would've thought I was trying to get into 54 ! Then this pissy ass full of attitude asked me for ten dollars......I couldn't believe it. Now it felt like it was Radio City music hall to see the Rockettes. I paid and took a seat at the bar.......I should have known better because it was all loud women and no gay men......I love women....but gay men appreciate good fun drag. Then I ordered an old fashioned. .....the pissy rude bartender asked me what that was and was perturbed that I actually ordered a drink.....so I changed to a Captain and coke.......well.....here it came.....in a small......small....plastic cup and was 6.50.........seriously. This cup was like what you find at the office water cooler. It went down quick.....I sat there and thought no no no.....this is tragic. I went and got my ten back and left. Never did see the show so I can't comment on that.......I couldn't get past the rudeness of the place. Found another place....Club Cafe, no drag.......but I had a blast ! I also had really good drinks.....and in a nice glass.........and noooooooo cover and noooooooo pissy attitudes. read more

Maybe I'm biased living in SF, but I've seen much more talented and fun shows. We went for a bachelorette party- some of the queens were really fun one-on-one, but the show itself fell flat for us. They shoved us in the back- the "tables" were really rows of chairs and they wouldn't move us up because we were dancing. seriously? It's called having fun- other parties were inviting us over for drinks because we were having fun. Also- most of the queens weren't bitchy funny- they were just bitchy bitchy. We still had a blast dancing, but not because of what was on stage. sad. read more

The main host/queen was funny and performed songs with a twist to keep things interesting. Besides her, the other queens barely did anything but reach their hands out and grab dollar bills from people to songs straight from the radio. I knew tipping was expected, but I at least thought a performance should accompany the show... it was clear how much the performers were interested in collecting as much money as possible rather than putting on a good show. read more

The $20 in singles I stuff down fake cleavages and suspicious camel toes (wtf...?) at Jacque's drag show is the best use of dollar bills I've ever discovered. Seriously, it's why I think dollar bills were invented. I've never been to a show where I want to sleep with every single performer in all available gender & people configurations. But I do, 'cause they're so damn sexy. And deep down, probably 150% more woman than I am. Thank you Jacques for making at least one Monday a month the best Monday ever.... read more

i've never been to a drag show and i'm pretty sure i'll never be back. i'm all for individuals doin' the do to get the job did but i don't get this. i mean i get the men dressed as women, or the transexuals, and i kind of get the lip synching on a tiny cramped stage. what i didn't understand was why it turned into a chippendales scene with the drag queen pandering for dollar bills to be tucked in his/her boobs and i didn't get why there were so many bachelorette parties there. actually i don't get why there would be ANY bachelorette parties there. i was very confused. and the bartender ignored me for about 20 minutes so i felt lucky to get one beer. read more
