Stale everything pretty much. I don't know if this is an outlet or day old shop but the few times I tried it were letdowns.

My husband loves the sweet cherry pies and kuchens. You have to order them if you want them, because they are sold out by late morning. My favorite is the white cake with lemon curd and buttercream frosting. It reminds of the old-time cake the Main Street Sibley's used to have. These people are up baking all night long and everything is fresh, fresh, fresh! They maintain their incredibly reasonable prices because they don't refurbish their bakery ( it looks the way it did when I was a kid,) and they don't have a web site. They don't need one. I try to stay away from everything there, but trust me, it's hard. read more

LOVE. My husband's family has been coming here for years, and for good reason. Literally everything is delicious!!! The staff is one of the friendliest and most helpful I've ever experienced, and the prices can't be beat. We recently ordered a 10" cake and picked up three cookies while in the store. Our total? About $16. Seriously. I went with my two little ones, and one of the ladies carried the cake to the car for us! The whole experience was sweet ;) read more

Best kuchen in the metro area. Apple, cherry, cheese, the list goes on. And grab a giant ho-ho cake for desert. Super unique.

The wife and I were craving something sweet at 545 pm so we decided to try Jackson's bakery. We have always been say we need to try there sometime. Well we did and we absolutely love it!! I got a cannoli and an eclair the wife got a slice of carrot cake and a cannoli all were great. Now that we know how good the desserts are here we will be coming back. read more

Jackson's has the best pumpkin pie in Rochester. This little store is a throwback to the past and love it. Pretty good Danish's as well. The owner is always a pleasure and they have waited for me to pick up orders even after they had closed. Remember they are cash only! read more

I love going to an old school bakery that's not afraid to keep traditions and good ethics. The German Chocolate Cake is amazing- that is if you get there in time to get one! Delicious cakes, breads and other bakery items. Cash only. Nice staff. Great place to get a great cake! read more

How have I lived in Rochester for 10 years and not heard about Jackson's until last week? To think of all the amazing desserts I could have been eating over the years! In one word, Jackson's is: AMAZING. It reminds me of the bakery my grandma would take me to after church in North Buffalo in the early 80's. They have several touches of nostalgia that are leftover probably from when they opened, including some kind of contraption that hangs from the ceiling and dispenses the twine they use to tie around the bakery boxes. Adorable! I've gone twice in the past week and both trips were a success. I was excited to see that the selection varied quite a bit both times. On my first trip I bought three of their famous smile cookies, a piece of chocolate cake, a piece of vanilla cake and a neopolitan cake and it came to only $9! WHA?! On the second trip I got three smile cookies, a butter danish and a chocolate cupcake and only paid $4! They have a great selection of cakes and pies ready for purchase - ones that you don't see too often like pineapple cream pie. I'll definitely be making Jackson's a regular stop on my Saturday errand list! read more

I ordered pumpkin pies and dinner rolls and they were both delicious! Whenever I stop in a randomly grab a cookie or two with whatever I am there for and they're always so good! The customer service is always on point too. read more

Oh my gosh these cakes!!! This is my moms favorite place to get a German chocolate cake and now I know why. The cake is so amazing

Small, unpretentious, but very good quality family style bakery...we have gotten a few b-day cakes here and all have been really delicious...moist cake, not overly sweet frosting, nicely decorated. The assorted pastries and breads here are also superb. If you were not looking for it, you could easily drive right by and miss this bakery..so keep your eyes peeled. Go early ( or order ahead) because there are slim pickings by the afternoon! Very reasonably priced as well---you would pay more and get much less at the grocery store! read more

Great hometown bakery. Always get thier rolls for family dinners. Their chocolate fudge cake is delicious.... Order early for holidays

I've grown up with Jackson's cakes my entire life. This place is amazing. The chocolate tort is my favorite cake in the world, I get it for all of my birthdays. Jackson's is old school, bring cash! Inexpensive and DELICIOUS, cannot recommend more. read more

I recently visited Jackson's for the first time in many, many years and was still impressed by their prices and quality. I got a ho-ho cake (aka chocolate roll) and carrot cake bars. Both were incredibly delicious...I think my son had 4 pieces of the cake! They are tucked away in a little plaza on Stone Rd in Greece and do not take checks or credit cards, so bring your cash! read more

Grandma says this place is the best! Went here a few times and it has never disappointed, the delicacies are scrumptious and there's always variety to choose from. Try them out the only thing that may not like it is your scale, but we won't mention that. read more

People in my family rave about Jackson's, so I've been getting some cakes and pies from them to see if it's as good as they say. Yes, it is. I've had some desserts from there in the past, but I'll comment on some recent purchases I made. Everything was very good (the cheesecake was EXCELLENT), and though there were some leftovers after our party, they were quickly eaten. Everything was very good. I think you can get good baked goods anywhere, especially places like Wegmans, but these people have a little better quality with a (surprisingly) much lower price. You can get an 8" cheesecake, which is excellent, for about half or a third of the price of other places, and the cake at Jackson's is just as good or better. I'll definitely be coming here more often! The only two criticisms I can give this place is that they have bad hours (they close early every day, especially Saturday, and aren't open Sunday or Monday), and they don't yet have a website. It won't hurt my star rating, but I know a lot of people want last minute baked goods on the weekend, and since this place is closed, they usually just fall back on Wegmans (which can give you a cake at any hour of the day or night) or something nearby. I highly recommend you check out Jackson's! read more

Could I not get a better pastries any where else in the city. I love this place, the cougans are the best in Rochester

Love this bakery! My family has been going here for years! Their signature chocolate torte cake is to die for along with their smiley face cookies! Must have! read more

I came in looking for something to bring to dinner at a friend's house. The service was prompt and friendly. I ended up getting some cannolis and a rhubarb pie. Both were excellent. The cannolis were not quite as heavy as normal. They may have whipped the filling. However they did it, the cannolis were very well received! The prices were also great. This place is a perfect small bakery. read more

Jackson's has been my favorite bakery since I moved to Rochester in 1985, so of course I wanted to see if they could do my wedding cake. Turns out they could do our wedding cake, with a little creativity. They can do two-tiered cakes, so I had them do a version of their wonderful chocolate torte cake (as my husband and I both love chocolate) and then we did a large sheet cake to make sure we had enough for everyone. It was much more important to me how the cake tasted than how it looked but Jackson scored 100% on both. We didn't bother saving our top. We just get a chocolate torte cake every anniversary and enjoy! read more

If it's birthdays hangouts or any party I believe that Jackson's really delivers.you know it's good when half the time you go their there almost sold out just because of how good they are! read more

Delicious! Earns every one of five stars. Was seeking out a bakery option in the Rochester area and the Yelp reviews pointed me to Jacksons, I was not led astray. I had something called a radio, moist chocolate cake, white buttercream and fudge.... wowwwww and one of their miniature chocolate cakes, both were thick, decadent and super tasty. At just a bit over $2 each I think the price was especially reasonable. I would have purchased more but I had $5 and they are cash only(there is an ATM close by but not in store so come prepared). I would also suggest getting there early I arrived around 4 in the afternoon and it looked like several items had already left the shelves. I will definitely need to return first thing in the morning with at least a $20 :) a must tast read more

Honestly, there's nothing better than Jackson's! I'll admit that I grew up on Jackson's sweets, so my opinion might have been a little bit biased at first, but after years and years of living in other states and trying bakery after bakery... I can confirm that Jackson's truly is the best bakery out there! The treats are all so delicious and priced astonishingly low! On my latest visit back to Greece, my sister and I stopped in to pick up the smiley face cookies we both needed for our annual dose of nostalgia, but of course, we ended up placing an order for kuchen, pies, AND more than one dozen cookies... They were ready the next day and the total ended up being WAY lower than I'd imagined (and honestly way lower than Jackson's should rightly be selling their treats for... but they're busy enough to afford low prices, I guess). If you're a fan of that classic family-owned, old-timey local hotspot, you need to get on over to Jackson's. Aside from having excellent quality and prices from the 1940s (when Jackson's first opened!), you'll love watching your sweets be boxed up and wrapped with string just like they always used to be! The place used to do the whole grab-a-ticket-and-wait-for-your-number-to-be-called thing, too, but it looks like that might not be the case anymore (or maybe they were just out of tickets when I last stopped in). The good news is they now take cards! It used to be cash only back in the day. Other than that, though, nothing ever seems to change in this magical place. Pro tip: Jackson's only makes a limited number of each of their deserts on most days; they're known to sell out of favorites by midday. So if there's something specific you want to get, just order it and pick it up then! They do orders for any day they're open, and you can just call them to place an order if you're not in the area to drop in. Or, you know, you could just drop in and try something new -- I guarantee you won't be disappointed by anything you try in the place -- and you might just find a cool new holiday-themed treat you didn't know existed! read more

Best bakery! Awesome cakes, breads, pies, cakes and reasonably priced!! Highly recommended!!

still my favorite bakery in rochester. every year i cant wait for the easter bread especially

Honestly, I have been a loyal customer of this bakery for a while now. I was somehow reluctant to write a review; I just wanted to keep this gem a secret close to my heart! But then again I thought "not fair"! I am more of a savory type of person, Don't have a sweet tooth or so much as a sweet bone! in my body! But Jackson's Bakery changed all the equations for me. A very small bakery far from our apartment, closing at 4 everyday, closed on Sundays and Mondays and cash only could be enough reasons not to like this place. Having said all that, I can't wait for the next time I find myself at Jackson's. This place is an epitome of what a bakery should be. They have the most amazing "custard cakes" which is only baked on the weekends. So delicious and just melts in your mouth. The chocolate cake is exquisite and the eclairs and cannolis are so luscious! I just have to stay away from this heaven as much as I can or I will just devour the whole store. read more

I grew up getting desserts from Jackson's bakery, so when I recently travelled back to Rochester I wondered if the bakery would live up to my childhood nostalgia. Boy, it did! It's even better than I remember. This is one of the best bakeries I've ever been to, period. Even walking in the store and smelling everything was a treat. I highly recommend the glazed cookies, cakes (their frosting is to die for), and the frogs (we always had them as an Easter specialty). read more

Jackson's is my favorite bakery in the city! My family has gone there for years and it has never disappointed. I truly believe their carrot cake is the BEST I've ever had, and I am a bit of a snob when it comes to carrot cake. I request it at every birthday and special occasion (even for my baby shower!). As a bonus, it is super cheap and friendly, and they even wrap your box in old fashioned twine. Love! read more

Everything in this place is like heaven. The brownies and cup cakes are great when your having a bad day and need something sweet to make you smile. Its cash only. So be prepared. read more

I love getting breakfast pastries from here! It is very small, but the quality is awesome. I've been told you can order cakes and such, but I always just drop in after I go to the butcher next door. I can easily find a nice dessert for after dinner or a yummy treat for breakfast the next morning. I also love their smiley face cookies. My husband recommends the mini cakes as a nice treat when you have guests with a sweet tooth. read more

I do not have a single sweet tooth in my mouth.... HOWEVER... if you put the chocolate cake in front of me from Jacksons... with chocolate icing... I could eat the whole cake all by myself... and I might just get grouchy if you come anywhere near it. Amazing!!!!! I swear I gained the last 10 pounds of my pregnancy weight because of that cake!!! to die for!!!! Along with other amazing desserts.... my family loves this bakery! read more

Best Bakery in Rochester. This little place is great, they has tons of magnificent and delicious deserts here! I have been going to Jacksons for over 20 years now and the quality/taste is still the same! The prices are my favorite part! Most bakery's in Rochester are a bit pricey but this place is very affordable. I highly reccomend Jacksons Bakery! But bring cash, they do not accept credit card! read more

It is not what it used to be. We stopped today and bought a chocolate log and a small white square. The frosting on the white square was almost nonexistent, the chocolate logs frosting was almost runny. It has gone down over the years. Quit being stingy with the frosting. That includes your torte cakes also. read more

Phenomenal little bakery.......we've ordered cakes from every single bakery in Rochester and have been surprised at how mediocre they all were. So when someone recommended I try Jacksons I said to myself, yea sure....it's going to be dry cake with crappy (either way too sweet or too much like whipped cream) frosting just like the rest. Until we went there.......and the ladies were SO sweet....gave us a sample of their White Mountain Dinner rolls, which have us addicted. Have to order three dozen of those bad boys for every holiday now. We ordered a birthday cake for a family Xmas birthday and it was DELICIOUS......the buttercream is spot on. Cake was nice, dense and moist. The birthday boy loved it said it was the best cake he's had of the Rochester bakeries.....I highly recommend. read more

Jackson's Bakery is one of the few local bakeries left. They only take cash, and they offer a wide variety of regular and seasonal confections. Jackson's has a lot of 'regulars' who go there for for their specialties...custom made cakes, seasonal baked rolls, and baked goods...and many 'regulars' rely on Jackson's to supply them with holiday and special-occasion treasures. That said, I've gone there only a few times myself. Their prices are very reasonable, and it's so great to know that I'm getting quality baked goods that are hand made locally. My only, and rather major objection (for me) is that they are very heavy handed on the sugar in all the baked goods I have tried. They could cut the sugar by half and still charge the same price, and I would be overjoyed. I just tried a taste of their 'radio bar', which is one of their specialties. It's an individual chocolate cake, with butter-cream on top, coated with fudge. So delicious...but far too much sugar! As I said, they could cut the sugar by half,, and it would still be a delicious confection. Since they do special orders, you might want to ask them to cut back on the sugar, and I am certain you will still love whatever you request. It's great to have a local bakery like Jackson's! read more

A single word to describe Jackson's... Can't find just 1! Think old school bakery. No frills or pretentiousness, just AMAZING desserts and reasonable prices. From their creamy buttercrrsm frosting to their "ho-ho" cakes to their chocolate torte cakes, everything is delicious and makes you want to come back for more! Being the desserts are their rolls, best I've ever had. And their kuchrns & pastries are a great way to start any day. Can't wait to go back! read more

I grew up with this bakery, my grandma, Mary Agostinelli, treated us to the best birthday cakes with the sprinkles on the side and the jelly dollops on top! If you haven't had you haven't lived. She also bought her Italian Cookies here (that is saying a lot for an Italian) and the danishes on Sunday. I've lived in Boston, Manhattan, London and LA and haven't found a bakery as delicious and true to who it's alway been as Jackson's. I miss it so much! It's my birthday on Halloween and I wish they shipped! The BEST bakery ever. read more
