Unprofessional
(This is a LONG review, so bear with me.)
Needed some body repair done on my front frame of my vehicle after my vehicle slid into a snowbank.
The repair was going to be covered by my Safeco insurance. Keep note that this is the only body shop in town that is directly networked with Safeco. Went in, got the estimate done. The shop let me know that if I chose to go with them they weren't going to be able to start working on my car till almost a month later.
A month is a long time to not have a car. Despite that I went ahead and arranged my appointment. I did this for two reasons. 1) I didn't mind the wait since my insurance covered me for a car rental for that time period. 2) My insurance works and is networked directly with this shop, because of this I believed that if my insurance(a large business corporation) decides to partner up with them, they trust that it is a good and reliable shop. Also I wouldn't have to worry about payment and dealing with adjusters.
This the part where they screwed me over. Come a month, I take in my vehicle in for my appointment. Only to find out that I don't have an appointment because the body shop canceled it. They tell me they canceled it because they ASSUMED I chose another shop. Listen up closely what I am going to tell you folks, they assumed this because I got a car rental. A freakin car rental. THAT'S WHAT THEY TOLD ME. At this point I am very upset and angry. I ask them to explain why this happened.
First let me explain this. When they did my estimate they deemed my car drivable. Yes, the car is drivable. I drove it from my house to the shop. But I didn't want to continue driving it regularly for two big reasons. 1) When the car hit the snow bank, the front grill had sunken in. This damaged two fans, the radiator and who knows what else. I didn't want to risk driving it without first getting it fully inspected and repaired. 2) The car's turn signal and front license plate had fell off therefore deeming it illegal to drive.
Despite this they still deemed it as drivable, just because it could get from point A to point B. Not taking into consideration that it could potentially have some mechanical defects. I'm saying this because they didn't inspect it or run tests on it. Their definition of inspection is looking at it and making and estimate of how much the repair is going to cost, this is from just from what they could see. Ignoring the potential mechanical defects on top of ignoring that it's not legal to drive.
For the listed reasons above I choose to get a car rental and not risk getting cited or worse messing up my car. Bringing it back to the reason why my appointment got canceled. They canceled it because they deemed my car drivable and Safeco doesn't not issue a car rental unless the car is not drivable or it's being repaired at a body shop. And since it was labeled by them as drivable and it wasn't being repaired at their shop, this is where they assumed I went to another shop.
What a dumb assumption to make. They couldn't even spare the courtesy to call me to confirm if this was the case. When I asked why they didn't call, they said they were too busy to call. Too busy to spend two minutes of their time to let me know they were going to cancel my appointment. Because they couldn't spare two minutes of their time, they wasted a whole month of my time.
The worst part is waiting patiently for your turn, eager for the day that you will once again be able to drive your baby. But instead you wait for nothing and it feels as if you waited an eternity, and in return you get nothing. Just disappointment and anger.
And I mean disappointment and anger, because the company didn't acknowledge what they did wrong nonetheless do anything to make it right. All they told me was that if I wanted my car to get fixed by them I had to get in the back of the line and wait another two months.
There you have it Yelp, this concludes my review. Of course, I choose to take my business elsewhere. I choose Mel's intercity collision, which is right down the street from Jack's. I've heard good things about them from family and friends. I got an appointment with them the following Monday. After I get my car repaired I'll post a review of their service and I'll post an update here. Thanks for taking the time to read this. read more
