After visiting the CA Poppy Reserve, we navigated to this quiet, unassuming roadside restaurant for a late lunch. Plenty of parking in their dirt lot and the charm of the place is both exterior and interior. BOY! When I walked in I immediately pinned this place as one that juuuust might have a good dessert. I'm always happy to be right. We were seated immediately and friendly service took drink orders and got us settled in. While the pizza looked good, the hand formed 5150 house-ground chuck burger is what I was interested in. Added some curly fries as an upgrade to my side and waited in eager anti-anti-antici-pa-pa-pation for our food. The burger was ok, lacked a bit of seasoning within the patty, but I'm starting to notice places not seasoning their patties. Maybe people are more sensitive to sodium in their diets, but I like a bit of garlic and herb in my burgers. The pretzel bun it was served on was much softer than I imagined it would be and was very good. The curly fries ween't worth the upsell, and even Hubs fries, like mine, had way too many tiny, crispy pieces to be thoroughly enjoyed. BUT...I was right about the dessert! COBBLER! I chose mixed berry and was treated to an amazing, hot-out-of-the-oven delight I had to wait to enjoy because it was SO FRESH and piping hot. The taste was a perfect tart, not too sweet, and the crumble top was perfect! It was served in an adorable cast iron skillet - the same it cooked in - on a plate and TWO spoons! lol Hubs was not having ANY of it. This bad boy was all mine! I would highly recommend their cobbler dessert! Next time, we might get there early enough for breakfast, or maybe try their pizza that looked so good. Great place to relax! Definitely a no rush environment, I loved the outside area so refreshing. The service was decent slow but everything was perfect. We had coffee, orange juice, and apple juice- the orange juice was fresh. We ate jack attack, chorizo skillet, avocado toast, and kids mega breakfast. The avocado toast for me was refreshing needed a lil salt/ pepper for my liking 10/10, the chorizo skillet was tasty a definite must try 10/10, the jack attack is a go to can get a lot of food if your Hungary that's a plate to have 10/10. Great place for brunch! We came here after a hike and were seated promptly. Very friendly service. Ample portions, frequent coffee refills, and tasty food. My omelette was really good and the coffee was fresh. This seems to be a very popular place with the locals and has a typical coffee shop/diner vibe. Huge parking lot with free parking. Came here to grab a little late breakfast on vacation. Unlike other American diners I loved that Jack's Place serves breakfast until 2PM, so you can sleep in and still get your French toast fix! Outdoor seating was lovely. I brought my dog and in addition to being nice and shaded, they had fly fans on each table that were a nice touch. They have a little cornhole area right outside. The menu offers a lot of variety but I had a bit of a time finding something I could eat. It seemed like every other item included bacon or ham. The lunch menu had some more flexibility, but I really just wanted breakfast. I tried the French toast which was great, not too heavy or oily. It was stuffed with custard that was really good. The prices were fair IMO and I left happy. My only issue was the slow service. The place wasn't packed but I had a lot of trouble flagging my server down, which was a little annoying because I had places I needed to get to. I wasn't able to get a water refill either. read more

Found this place on Yelp. Wanted to take my Dad somewhere new. Staff were very friendly, food came out fast and was actually surprised by quantities. She had short blond hair and was really knowledgeable of the menu. It seems they change up their menu a bit here and there since I noticed the current menu looked different from the ones already posted on Yelp. I got the southwest turkey melt. It had a little kick and it was good, but for me had too much turkey. I think they could thin it down a little. It would even out the flavor overall. I was going to go with 4 stars since I thought my melt was good but not great. But I thought about it more and I have to say the excellent service had to bump the rating up. The fries were great. Jack's is a staple in our family. We've been dining at this place for years--even before it was Jack's. We've watched it change restaurants and ownership over time. I've been away for a few years, but now I'm back home visiting, and our family still dines here often. My dad loves the spicy fried chicken sandwich! Walking back into this place was a gem. The staff are incredibly kind, and their hospitality is a gift. For Easter, we picked up their famous peanut butter pie and flourless chocolate cake--both were excellent and exactly what our Easter brunch needed! I had dinner here last night. I've been several times before and Jack's Place has become a favorite for me and my friends. Tonight I finally tried the pizza. It was great! I ordered the bbq chicken pizza and the crust was perfect! I really enjoyed it! I highly recommend the fish and chips, their soups of the day, and any of their daily specials. Every year we go cherry picking in Leona Valley and finally after passing by this place for many times we decided to stop by for lunch. Indoor seating was ideal for us because it was a hot day but they also have tables outside. As a foodie from Lo Angeles that has over 1500 Yelp reviews I wasn't too sure if the food would be good here but I agreed to give it a try. To my surprise the burgers were amazing and the Reuben was one of the best I ever had. The only thing we didn't like was the fries. Very dry and overcooked no taste. Maybe it was a bad batch. The service stated slow and unfriendly but it got better once our waiter acknowledged us and took our order. He was friendly and attentive. This kind of service is expected from small town restaurants so I won't take any stars away from my review. The food was good, the ambiance was good and they serve great local beer from Lucky Luke Brewing... They had apple and peach options as well, and would have blended if we had wished it. I get a Corned Beef Reuben whenever or wherever I go for lunch. I consider myself a pro. Jack's was recommended and a friend and I went there for lunch. It was the best I have ever had. There weren't that many people in the restaurant, so we had plenty of time to look over all of the delicious options on the menu. My blushing bride had an omelette with Jack's potato's and toast. She raved about it all, declaring it the best breakfast I've ever bought her. All these years of trying... I finally succeeded! I had the country-fried steak, hash browns, eggs over easy, and they come with biscuit and gravy. A lot of food! Let me air a gripe first: my steak was cut up for me. It was either like being fed as a child or eating leftovers. Now let me sing praises: the steak was great, as were all of the other tasty delights. This is the real deal, not anything like what other places serve. This was real steak, pounded thin, breaded in a tasty breading and not overly salty. It tasted like steak that was country fried.
