Jacks is my go to, I love trying new drinks and trying what people recommend. Lately however, the drinks haven't been that good. Same with the food, it's stale or it just isn't that great either. I keep telling myself the next time will taste better but it just isn't. I recently got the strawberry lemonade, one of my fav drinks but it was literally all foam like they blended the lemonade or something I'm not sure but it 3/4 of it was foam. The one barista that has colored lash extensions is very nice, I never get her name but the other baristas arent that pleasant. read more

I bought a "regular" large coffee but they also have all of the typical coffee drinks that you would expect. I am not a professional coffee taster so I can't tell you if it had hints of whatever exotic fruit you like but it was extremely tasty and not overly roasted (aka burnt) that some of the chain coffees taste like to me. A hidden gem in Salinas! Love the Spanish latte!! Service is always great! Wish there was another location somewhere in North Salinas.

After 1 1/2 years of patronizing this coffee stand more frequently than I like to admit, it still reigns my favorite! The quality, freshness and competence of the staff makes it so far superior to the big chain competitor that I have a hard time drinking coffee that's NOT from Jacks. During Covid my husband and I integrated daily walks up to get a coffee from Jacks. It became a treasured ritual and now that I'm moving to DC I'm feeling super sad to let my favorite coffee stand go! The staff even gave me a little present on my last visit. I just love this stand. I love Jacks coffee-it's a small little drive through coffee shop that I discovered recently. So far I have tried their Iced white Mochas and a mint frappe and I have not been disappointed! It's delicious and helps out the smaller Buisness owners which i prefer to do. Exactly 12:01 there was a sign saying they'd be closing at 12 due to the weather, regardless of me waiting in line prior to that they didn't care to open the window and apologize. No "Hi sorry unfortunately we're closed" they just ignored me at the window. Truly annoying and a waste of time to be waiting in the line just for the paper to be at the ordering window, should have been somewhere visible to those waiting in line. Came by today 1:45, they don't close until 2 and they told me they had already shut their espresso machine down for the day so I could only get cold brew or tea. For a small little drive up coffee Shack, Jack's coffee turned out to be a big surprise. Not only are the prices small, much like the menu, the quality you get what you pay is far greater than everywhere else. My first time there, I ordered a large mocha. I asked for an additional shot, because I was looking forward to that bitterness to help contrast the sweetness of the steamed milk. When I got my drink and it was less than $5 including tip and I was very shocked having realized how used to Starbucks and the other big Market coffee companies prices I was. When I took a sip of my mocha, I was startled... it tasted nothing like what I was used to. For a brief second I nearly spit it out, having thought that something was wrong with it. The taste I had in my mouth was the flavor of very good coffee, brewed perfectly. If you've ever been to a real coffee house that knows how to masterfully blend and roast its coffees and can make an espresso with a perfect Crema you'll know what I'm talking about. Good expresso...with a good creama...is not bitter. It'e got an sweetness, creaminess and complexity that Starbucks has trained right out of the American coffee flavor palate. When I took my next sip...it was amazing. This was good...and made me regret getting a mocha and wish I'd simply ordered an espresso. I won't make that mistake next time. Give it a try...just be warned...it won't taste anything like your Starbucks quad shot venti mocha with that burnt roast coffee bitterness. You'll be tasting really good coffee. But then again...what do I know...I kinda like that bitterness... BTW...the girls attending this place...super sweet, very efficient...very friendly...tip em well! read more

Jack's is CONSISTENT! I always get a good cup of coffee there. The staff is friendly. Some days they even notice me waiting for my turn and have my latte ready before I pull up. It's one of the best coffee places in Salinas (that I've tried), and the fact that it's a drive-thru makes it that much better. I get iced lattes and blended drinks, so I can't speak for their drip or hot drinks. Its not the best coffee you'll ever have (I've lived in Seattle, so I'm a tad bias :), but it's infinitely better than Starbucks (which seriously Salinas, could you have any more Starbucks in this town? Geezus.) The baristas are wonderful ladies and I've not had a single bad encounter with any of them. This is my second review and I have a Question- why did Jack's do away with the coffee stamp card? I truly miss that, it was a real motivator for stopping in. You don't mind paying that 5+ dollars for a coffee when you have a free One coming along at some point. A free cup of coffee on a chilly day can be most enjoyable.
