Today we had 2 combos the same with the exception of one being regular the other large extra pickles on both orders. 1 chicken sandwich had extra pickles. Well first of all what isn't there not to like. The people are super friendly. The food is delicious. The only thing that was amiss was they forgot my salad dressing. Nobody is perfect, I been left worse. The grits are the best we had anywhere. They actually were seasoned well with salt. The smoked sausage on a biscuit was super delicious. We stopped in on our way to Nashville and received Excellent service! Very friendly! We loved the food and service so much we caMe back on our way back home from Nashville! The biscuits are fresh and so good (ask for extra butter and you will be hooked). The chicken tenders were fresh and not full of breading. The burger was delicious! There was an older blonde lady with glasses both times we went and I wish I had gotten her name because she was exceptional and was constantly updating us on our order status because we had to wait on the tenders to cook! There's just something so convenient about pulling up to a Drive-Thru. With their framed plexiglass menus & a speaker to relay my order to the window server. It's always favorable for me on road trips to pull off for fast food as it's quick and easy. For this leg of my road trip I decided to stop over at Jacks. I notice their menu has all the wonderful food items I've been accustomed to ordering from competitors like Wendy's & KFC. I've always dreamed of those 2 being under the same roof and that dream came true the day I discovered Jacks. I was promptly greeted with clarity as I was looking over the menu deciding on whether I wanted a burger & fry combo or a chicken meal. Being I was starvin like Marvin I decided on going with a Double Big Jack combo. I was pleased with the attitude of my window server and the fact that my food was served to me fast, hot and fresh. Compared to McDonalds shriveled up dried patties I found my double jack appealing in appearance & taste as it was moist juicy & the amount of toppings and condiments were placed on my burger proportionally as there's no need to mask the quality of this fast food delight. I found my fries to be enjoyable as they were perfected with the right amount of crisp seasoning prepped at the right temperature. For what it is, cheap fast food, it was not bad at all. The restaurant is clean, the fireplace and tv were a nice touch in the dining area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Big Jack is a standard double cheeseburger, but for $3, you can't go wrong. Well topped with lettuce, pickles, onion, ketchup and mustard. The chicken tenders were just okay, although the 'Comeback' sauce did well to make them good. The fries were pretty good, crinkle cut and soft with just a smidge of hardness in the corners. Tried Jack's for the first time coming home from a road trip and it really hit the spot. I especially enjoyed the sauce on my burger and was surprised I ate the whole thing and was wanting more. I thought their fries were alright but both of ours had an uneven amount of seasoning that made some fries completely covered and others left without any. A couple of weeks ago while in Tiftonia, a friend asked if I could meet him at Jack's for lunch. I said no, but if he'd come downtown I'd treat him at Uncle Larry's for the best-fried fish in Chattanooga. He agreed and we ate great fish! I'd never heard of anyone who ever ate at Jack's and that fast-food joints need to be way better-than-average to get my attention. Too many serve too many food-service items. It's Heat-n-Eat straight from the truck. Perhaps it was my spidey sense, but two weeks later I read the Tennessee Health Inspection of Jack's. It was a 74 out of 100. Not good. Here's part of the inspection: 'Reasons including active managerial control over foodborne illness risk factors not provided at time of inspection. Observed employee not adequately washing hands.Severely dented canned good noted in dry storage area. Bulk dry breading in dry storage area not of sound condition. Adequate cleaning/sanitizing frequency not provided for food and non-food contact surfaces. Build-up of food debris noted on kitchen equipment throughout establishment. Flies noted inside establishment. Clean dishes stacked wet." So my intuition was correct, mixed with a lifetime of eating out, and being behind the scene in many places. I won't eat at any place anymore without checking the 'current' Health Department Scores. I even check places I do eat at to see if it's a least a 92 or better. Below 92, something's amiss and I don't go. Below 82, there's something seriously wrong and below 80, I make sure to have all my shots before driving by. Follow-up scores, meaning the place was given time to bring up the score up, are in most cases, done to not look like a potential mortuary, and not because better practices have been put in place. If scores are consistently low let that be a warning. I don't like follow-up scores. Let the first score stand. With a high score (90+ consistently) a faux-pas on inspection day can have consequences. Make sure the store is at least operating with good standard practices much of the time, rather than flopping to the lowest common passing denominator to not be shut down. ALWAYS, check the health department scores. It's easier than ever to do so. INSIST on high scores by spending your money on places that regularly meet good safety practices with consistent high scores (92+) What goes on in the back is more than cooking; it's where troubles can start that make their way into your stomach. Whether you're sickened by bad meat or bad sanitary practices doesn't make any difference. Both can lead to the toilet at best and the ER at worst. But it's your responsibility to make your own informed or uninformed decisions for yourself and family. Good luck and get your shots. read more

I stopped by just to try this place for breakfast on my way back to Atlanta and maaannnn... their biscuits are AMAZING! Soft, buttery, moist... definitely a contender for grandma's homemade biscuits! Now I see why the dive thru was wrapped around the building and the parking lot near full capacity. I can't speak on their lunch or dinner items, but you won't be disappointed in the breakfast. Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) ate dinner here while visiting Chattanooga over Fall Break. We all throughly enjoyed our meal (the adults had chicken tenders, our older child had the kid's burger, and our younger child had the mac n cheese). We even had ice cream and shakes for dessert! The women's bathroom had toilet paper all over the floor, one stall out of order, and urine on the seats, as well as all the trash cans full and overflowing. Our meal was not correct either! Somehow pride and workmanship has come to Lookout Valley in this establishment. First time trying Jacks and it was good. The menu had everything from fried chicken to pancakes. My girlfriend got the pancakes and bacon while I opted for the chicken tenders. The pancakes were lights and fluffy and the bacon was crispy. My chicken tenders were crispy, but a little dry. They were room temperature when I got them, but the fries where fresh and delicious. Jacks has a special sauce called comeback sauce that reminds me of Zak sauce with a kick. If you're in this area I recommend Jacks if you want cheap, fast, good food. read more

Jack's is just barely ok. They are a burger and chicken joint, but don't do either very well. Quite possibly the best thing on the menu is the green beans. On top of the mediocrity, they blast Fox News on a single big-screen. The conspicuous single large television constantly on Fox smacks of furthering some sort of political agenda, because the employees are certainly not watching it. I'm not politically inclined, but it seems unnecessary to force every patron to watch talking heads. I work close by, and the options are limited or I wouldn't go back.
