In town for a few hours on business, & as usual, I researched a restaurant to try. Went at approx 3p on a weekday for a late lunch; ample, free parking lot newly resurfaced directly in front of of the establishment. Initial impressions: wow, this entire place is the color black, as in too black, floors, walls, ceilings, and, everyone is seated & being served in the front area. I clearly recall thinking to myself that my attendance will be lack luster; I elected a standard height booth, located only in the back area. Sometimes I do loathe to be right based on experience alone & this was no exception. A lovely female server verbally assured me that she'd attend to me in just a moment. Unfortunately, my experience was that she'd offer water/ drinks when she had fully attended to all of the patrons in the front area. By the time she did, it was clear that she felt relief to have settled the business, for the moment, of the front- dining customers, now able to address my visit. I've lived in Biloxi for a few years & felt confident that my expectations of Jacks were adjusted for the area. The wine offerings were equivalent to middle-bottom grocery store shelf; no thank you. I ordered the Jackimo & Bayou rolls; I like sushi. Given my druthers, I'd eat it for all three daily meals. Definitely agree wholeheartedly with the few other reviewers that these rolls are almost nothing but solid, not good quality sushi rice. One tiny crossection of a crawfish, cream cheese, and a shrimp, measuring 1/2 an inch in diameter, is the only part of my rice loaf that is not, well, rice. How dare you, Owner of Jacks, charge SO entirely much for the nearly non-existent "sushi centers"?! Shame on you for delivering the verbiage of the actual contents of these...loaves of rice, as bountiful flavor bombs. No amount of sauce drizzle will compensate for the utter lack of...ingredients other than rice. I do totally get why Pgoula patrons like the hodgepodge menu which lacks a clear identity, genuinely. 'Sushi rolls' are grossly overpriced; wine menu offers a poor & tiny selection. Not at mid-volume of diners, the poor server could not manage to help this first time customer feel definitively as the afterthought once the front room was pacified. I honestly think that this eatery meets the tone and vibe of Pgoula & locals clearly show their enjoyment of it with repeat business. It offers a great weekday sushi roll special, if you're into their versions. Try not to sit beyond the front dining, bartop tabletops & consider yourself warned of the very sticky floors. I'm glad the locals enjoy Jacks; it's begging to be an episode of Restaurant Impossible. I wish it the best. read more

We had a great time at Jack's by the Tracks! Although we did not go on a night with live music, we did go on a Tuesday, when the sushi is 2 for 1! We had delicious sushi, and more importantly, the service was fantastic! Loved visiting here. (The floors are sticky, but that was not a deterrent for me.) read more

Walking in, the vibe was awesome. The bartender was super welcoming and friendly. My food came out fairly quickly and was amazing. These were the BEST fried pickles I've ever had. I was only in town for a couple days but haven't stopped thinking about them since I left!! I would 100% recommend trying this place out! There was also live music, I didn't catch their name but it was a local lady and her husband who do folk/rock and they were the cutest couple and made great music which just added to the good energy there! read more

Definitely a laid back vibe on the afternoon I went to git a bite to eat. I sat outside the kitchen and I surmised that a bit of training was going on. I enjoy eating at a restaurant and leaving with a smile on my face. I with my crab cake sandwich and my guest with her chicken, we were very pleased with our fare. The waitress was very attentive, helpful and kind. Therefore, with the exception of having a long walk to the john, I find no reason to have a complaint with our visit to this restaurant. Overpriced as heck, Two-For Tuesday makes it reasonable. My usual sushi joint I go to with my friends is Samurai's in Gulfport (used to be Biloxi also, but we don't like that one anymore). They have good large rolls and same pricing as Jack's. Jack's rolls are "REGULAR" sized, so about an inch and a quarter in diameter, maybe inch and half, to Samurai's 2in and meat stuffed. I get the most expensive one, the Black Pearl I want to say its called, has 3 fishes in it and an amazing sauce drizzled over it. It's easily the best sushi place in Pascagoula. Went to the Japanese place and that sushi tastes like grocery store sushi. Ironic that the AMERICAN OWNED place has better sushi. My friend did note that Jack's Nigiri is more generous than Samurai's, so if Nigiri is your jam, there you go. You get one extra piece and the meat and rice are larger too. Overall, GREAT SUSHI, too expensive for amount, good atmosphere, apparently great deal on Nigiri, would recommend, but be prepared to drop at least $100 for two people. Tried out Jack's By The Tracks for the first time and I was favorably impressed! There's a large, free parking lot across the street (Krebs Street) with plenty of spaces. Anyone who has taken Biochemistry will remember the Kreb's Cycle! I had the Braveheart Roll (fried shrimp, cream cheese, cucumber, salmon, green onion, and spicy mayo) and 3 piece salmon nigiri and it was delicious and very filling! This place is a total hidden gem! The food was fantastic and the service was stellar! Started with a margarita and some appetizers - finished with some "pimped out" chicken fajitas tacos (pimped out means adding goat cheese, bacon and avocado). The mahi fish tacos were also great. I can't wait to go back for more! The perfect place to grab drinks and listen to music on the weekends too. Will definitely be back, this is my new favorite place. read more

I was invited by a local friend who had a very positive experience over dinner here with live music earlier in 2023. However, our lunch visit was unfortunate as the amount of Salmon I had in my Phried Philly Roll was about 1 ounce? I literally picked apart every roll and could not believe what this Restaurant called 'Sushi'. Rice, Rice, Rice... The Spring Rolls were excellent. My partner's Black Pearl Roll was the opposite of mine and had normal Sushi Portions. Showed the Waitress, Megan, the Micro Salmon in my Philly Roll and she told Management who was to busy to talk with us. They did promise to 'Think about it IF I came back again...' Wow... Not a chance for $50 for Lunch for 2. Salmon is $10 a pound in Pensacola and I honestly believed I was entitled to at least 2-3 ounces for 10 rolls. I've been to Pascagoula for a annual kayaking event for the last 3 years in a row, and have eaten at Jack's 6 times--basically, every non-breakfast meal I've eaten in Pascagoula has been at Jacks. On my most recent trip, I had one of the best sushi rolls I've had in years, and some of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. My girlfriend had an amazing fish taco. I can't overstate this: the food is simply amazing. I'm not giving it extra points for "being a bar", or for being in a small town. If Jack's were in New Orleans, I'd be eating there all the time. It's that good. And, the bar and beer selection is awesome. On each of our last two trips, the owner walked around and checked on folks and we chatted a bit. read more

We visited during covid. This was a small town restaurant and you could tell. I would say more than half the employees and almost all of the guests were without masks.... not only was everyone maskless but there was no spacing between guests.... one lady told us we'd be seated soon. Another came along and gave us options, bar or behind the curtain. We took the latter. We were pleased with our seat location. We were pleased with the crab balls. For the portions, the prices seemed high. We got the crab cake po' boy and the grits (not a lot at all of the grits) and shrimp. They were good but nothing to rave about. Maybe we should have stuck with sushi. If they have enforced or attempted some social distancing I'd consider coming back but I won't considering. It's a local favorite that was recommended by colleagues in the area. Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, I'm spoiled with a plethora of great restaurants, so I wasn't blown away by it, nor was I unsatisfied. I had a mahi mahi taco, and a Korean Pork taco, both were pretty good, no complaints. Has a an old town, dive bar feel to it. Actually is a bar and restaurant. They have live music on some nights but not the night I was there. Sever was very friendly, classic southern hospitality. The menu is fairly small , but has a wide range of options from sushi rolls and grilled fresh "catch of the day", to steaks and (gourmet) tacos. The "crawfish balls" are incredible according to the other 8 people I dined with, but I don't touch shellfish. Very casual local feel with surprisingly good eats! read more

Hells yeah! Got a recommendation from our waiter at The White Pillars (very upscale) about Jack's. He told us the food is amazing. Being foodies we were intrigued. So today we did a lunch and bowling with our friends. We are retired so we can do this fun stuff during the day. Three words: duck breast taco! Heavenly, memorable, delicious......ok, I won't use every adjective I know, but you get the idea. And how do you complete a duck breast taco? You do it with a Korean pork taco! Equally awesome. If I could give a 0 star review I would! This is as short as I could explain my review while still being coherent. I'm a Pascagoula native who has come to Jacks since they have opened. I've had their drinks and just about every item on their food menu. Jacks was one of the very few restaurants in Pascagoula that I'd personally invite my friends and family to eat at! It was always a pleasurable experience for a real foodie. Where else could you get sushi, poboys, and tacos of such high quality all in one stop? The restaurant has always been know for longer than average wait times but I would gladly have sit over an hour just to eat the amazing cuisines near my home town. Well I have been away for the past 6 months and I come back to a completely different opinion about Jacks by the Tracks. The restaurant is being operated under new management and you can immediately tell that the new owner is cutting every corner possible to save on money. I ordered my absolute favorite dishs: 3 shrimp tacos, crawfish balls, and the shrimp and grits. Every single dish has been made into a cheap and low quality imitation of the past dish but the prices remain near the exact same. I am aware of the economic situation the restaurant is battling let alone the Covid pandemic. Sadly, I will NOT be eating here again until things change! read more

From 10/12/11 visit Arrived to find that the place was rather busy for a Wednesday night. I waited at the bar for 5 minutes before anyone took my drink order and handed me a menu. No suggestions on rolls were offered however. I feel that if you are new and looking to wow customers, you offer up the best that you have up front. Drink specials? If there were any I didn't know. Happy hour? Anything? Issue #1 I waited 27 minutes for the Ruby Ruby roll. Time confirmed from the moment I checked in on google+ until it arrived. Thankfully,my food landed in front of me after I asked for someone to check on my order. I was ready to pay for my beer and go to Edd's. I'm not one to complain to staff relentlessly. Issue#2 The presentation of the roll was ok. It looked like it had been sitting for a while as I suspected. The tuna (see photo) really did not have any flavor. The description on the menu stated spicy tuna, it wasn't spicy at all. In fact, the roll did not seem to match the description on the menu. Something seemed to be missing. I saw the shrimp tails, which is how I knew the shrimp was in the roll. The rice seemed dry. Half of the roll was not rolled tightly. The tempura shrimp was fried in breadcrumbs instead of tempura batter. There was no crunch to it. The shrimp was cold and tough, tasteless. Issue#3 I left smelling like the restaurant. To me this suggests ventilation issues. If you've ever eaten at Chef Scott's, you know what I am talking about. I've had sushi up and down the coast. I do not consider myself a 'sushi snob', but I've had better and more for the price. This place has specialty rolls, so do not expect smaller, more basic rolls that you'd find elsewhere. Prices for rolls range from $7 to 13 (tax included). They need to work on freshness, technique, and presentation. Just because it is a 'southern sushi juke joint', doesn't mean I should feel as if the food was thrown together. The winning aspect of Jack's is the atmosphere. I would give it a 3 for now until I see what it is like when a performer is in house. There is a large bar area and even larger separate, sit down dining area in the back. Blues and jazz were pipped through the speakers. A nice stage area up front. This place has potential. I would probably come back in a few months in hopes that the kinks are worked out. In the meantime, I will get my sushi fix elsewhere on the coast. However, I am very glad to see the downtown Pascagoula area growing and hope Jack's is a success. read more

The owner goes above and beyond to keep his menu fresh, drinks refreshing, and music tasty! Set in downtown Pascagoula a stones throw from the railroad tracks. It is located in a "shotgun shack" style building dripping with atmosphere. Jacks offers a variety of food from sushi, sandwiches, and salads. I've always found the staff to be friendly and attentive. For sushi, there are plenty of cooked and raw varieties to choose from. The Pascagoula Run is my favorite. The fish tacos are also very good and no meal is complete without a seaweed salad. Jacks offers plenty of beer, wine, and cocktails to choose from. I don't drink beer anymore but I do enjoy a glass of Moscato or a Bloody Mary now and then. Jacks finds a way to bring performing artists to Goula that no one else can. The owner does his part to keep music live in this quiet gulf side town. I give Jacks my best recommendation. read more

This place has a real "laidback" atmosphere. The staff are all super nice and friendly. You can really feel the "southern hospitality" here. One thing I really like about this place is smoking is NOT allowed indoors. For those smoking types, places to smoke is located DEEP in the back (outside the backdoor ) or right outside the front door. Both locations have benches to sit down and relax while smoking whatever you smoke Walking in, there's a pretty small stage and a pretty good size bar that seats up to a good 20 people. If the bar scene is not your forte, walk to the back and you get a nice dining area compete with waiting service. The restroom is located DEEP in the back of the place (where you have to walk out the backdoor) to, I believe, is the smoking area. The men's bathroom, in my opinion, does needs some work / attention. The drinks are really cheap during happy hour but when there's a live band going on, the prices can get pretty hefty. The food here is awesome! This is the ONLY place in downtown Pascagoula to get GREAT sushi within walking distance. My personal favorite is their "black pearl" roll. Their "edamame" makes an ideal bar snack...Oh, did I mention it's super cheap for the amount they give you? Haha All and all, this place is super awesome! Highly recommend this place for good food, friendly people, GREAT MUSIC & good clean fun. read more
