We decided to stop for lunch in this little lakeside town on our way to Buffalo recently. Jack's Drive-In was cozy inside with very friendly service and a nice selection of lunch items. The cheeseburger was delicious and the coconut cream pie was a nice treat, both very reasonably priced. My partner enjoyed the meatball sub which was a little more expensive. The location was great, across the street from a beach, with lots of old boats to admire, and close to a historic lighthouse. Great place to stop.

Omelets were ok, could of been better. Toast was close to the burnt side. Daughter's steak and eggs were good. No great drink options..... very basic to be as pricey as they are. However, it is right on the lake.....

Located just yards away from the Lake Erie shore, Jack's Barcelona Drive-In is a very casual family restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, dine-in or takeout. The dining room is cozy and comfortable with counter seating and table seating and plenty of pictures on the walls. There's also outside patio seating, perfect on nice weather days with a good view of Lake Erie. After enjoying the nice breeze blowing off the Lake, I walked over to "Jack's" for a quick "snack" (this rhymes!) I strolled inside and was warmly greeted by the staff. I looked over the menu offerings, which sounded pretty good and included appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, steaks, chicken, Italian dinners, and desserts at reasonable prices. They also offer free Concord grape juice with your meal. Now I wished I hadn't eaten lunch just an hour earlier. I needed something sweet and refreshing and decided on a cup of Vanilla Ice Cream topped with fresh Concord Grape Sauce (just under $2 with tax). The vanilla ice cream was a bit frozen and hard (alright!), but the Concord Grape Sauce was a fantastic topping with a nice zingy (slightly tart) taste, a very refreshing treat on a nice summer day. That hit the spot! Next time I'm in the area, I'll have to order a full meal with a glass of Concord grape juice. WEBSITE: http://www.jacksbarcelonadrivein.com

It was like a main entree steak and we are very much steak snubs! The cinnamon roll pancakes were amazing and my sandwich delicious. Third time we have been here and definitely a charm! And they were massive and I genuinely could only finish one of them at the time. I don't know if the picture does it justice to jshow how large it really was! since I got a combo, it came with eggs as well as choice of breakfast meat, which I got sausage. The side of homemade applesauce was actually for the regular style of pancake I got which I was just curious what that would taste like together as I've never had it before. I enjoyed it, but actually liked eating them both separately more. Everything came out of the kitchen quickly and I could tell this is definitely a popular morning spot with locals as the owner and other staff were very friendly and on a first name basis with many other patrons inside. Definitely my kind of spot. One thing to note is this place is cash only, so keep that in mind but I do believe there was an ATM on site as well.

Its history is written on the menu. And if you're from another country and want to experience authentic American food in an authentic American atmosphere, Meeder's is one place to do so. And I did. Half of the tables were taken up with locals catching up on the latest happenings - or maybe complaining about how New York City is still bleeding them dry, with the support of the morons in Albany. You never know. It appears to be a mom-and-pop operation, with a businesslike Mom handling the money and an excitable Pop waiting the tables. A Norman Rockwell picture come to life. I had the quarter pound burger, with chips and a pickle on the side. The patty was pretty good, done medium well. And not much else. Unlike a chicken sandwich, which does not need extra stuff to make it taste good, burgers do need extras like lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, bacon, roasted garlic, pico de gallo, and others to add to the taste. And this burger simply did not have enough. A little pricey. On the other hand, remember what I wrote about NYC bleeding Upstate and Western NY dry? Smart people are moving out of the state, if they can sell their houses. There is not much money to go around here. Meeder's pricing their food $1 higher than other places is how they stay in business. Meeder's Restaurant. Go for the living history, and take the food for what it is. America, Bless God.

A husband, wife, and their son run the place with the husband doing the cooking and the wife and son doing everything else including bussing, serving, dishes, and seating. They were really hustling. Unfortunately, the latte I ordered was not the most flavorful start to our morning, and we couldn't figure out why it was so weak. Their brewed coffee was much better. I had the western omelet and my better half ordered a California bagel egg and bacon sandwich with avocado and cheese. My omelet was overdone, maybe cooked at too high of a temperature, but tasted okay (a second longer and it would have been burnt). The bagel sandwich was good but had a similar issue with the bacon being almost burnt. Maybe that's how they make stuff here? We were starving so we ate every morsel. We loved the ambiance and the history of the place. It's worth a try if you're in Mayville.
