Dr. Lindsey Smogor is an excellent equine veterinarian and I cannot recommend her enough! We have owned horses in Tucson for over 10 years and have experiences with multiple equine vets in the area but once we found Dr. Smogor and her team at Jackpot Veterinary we knew we had found the best! She has helped us through our most happy, sad, and frightening experiences with our horses. She approaches the most difficult and vulnerable situations with compassion and dignity. She provides the most thorough aftercare and ensures we are always on the right path to healing. We are so fortunate to have found Dr. Smogor and we feel so much security knowing she is in our corner! Dr. Smogor is our go to veterinarian and everyone we have ever recommended to Jackpot sticks with Jackpot!

The Jackpot Veterinary Team is wonderful and absolutely worth the drive across town (we are on the far East side of Tucson)! They are excellent at accommodating busy schedules and work hard to fit you in for last minute appointments. I highly recommend all of the Jackpot Equine Veterinarians, but our regular vet is Dr. Lindsey Smogor. Dr. Smogor takes care of our horses like they are her own! She provides us with the best preventative, diagnostic, and emergency medical care. Dr. Smogor is incredible as she asks for a detailed history and takes owner insights into account when working on a diagnosis for your horse. Her openness to owner feedback and amazing intuition led to the correct diagnosis of our horse with early onset PPID. She has helped us with foaling, castration, surgery, lameness, degloving, diagnosis, euthanasia, and everything in between. Dr. Smogor is equally as kind, compassionate, and professional whether you need her for normal appointment hours or on a late night emergency. We have used many Equine Veterinarians in Southern Arizona, but we are most impressed with Dr. Smogor, she is absolutely our go to equine veterinarian! I highly recommend the Jackpot Team for all your animal needs! They are hands down the BEST veterinarians in Tucson!

Just transferred my pet care to their clinic due to moving, and was experiencing an emergency with my Maine Coon cat, Rhaegar. I had already spent a lot of money at the emergency vet and Rhae's issues were still not resolved. I called Jackpot on Sunday am (yes, they are open on Sunday) and they were able to fit him into their schedule that day. Their vets and techs communicate their concerns and procedures in advance. After 2 days, Rhae's issue was resolved! The ongoing construction is a nuisance, but they work around it well.

Jackson wishes all at Jackpot a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I called VEG from another local emergency vet service (a national urgent care vet service located in Oro Valley) that was simply geographically closer but I'd been waiting at for 45 minutes without being seen. VEG said ok we'll see her on entry, and when you get here, let them know you already have a chart on file. As soon as I brought my dog through the door, they greeted her with a team of physicians and support staff. They were RIGHT on the situation IMMEDIATELY! With empathy, knowledge, and skill. No joke - start to finish, probably 15 minutes total from my entry to the diagnosis, treatment, and release. I was thinking this will take easily 2-3 hours here, but not at all. Yep, I got an initial diagnosis within one minute saying 99% sure it's not bloat this time but would recommend an x-ray to be certain; and more diagnostics if you want after that. Not that it's about the amount of time it takes, but that aspect wildly exceeded my expectations! But the QUALITY of care, the treatment of both my dog and me by the staff, my comfort level with the facility, they were all absolutely outstanding! So then they did the x-rays, officially ruled out bloat, and I even got a bonus look at the heart and lungs as well from that x-ray and found no issues and that's great for a 12.5 year old dog! That was a BONUS diagnosis when the sole goal of the visit was to simply rule out bloat. All done with skill and empathy! I used VEG for the bloat surgery for this same dog and I've used them in between then and now for other dogs as well. So I can say the level of service is consistently excellent. That surgery changed our dog's life and ours. She's lived her best life in the year and a half since then and it's had a positive impact on our entire pet household. Let's just say VEG was QUITE the opposite experience from the other emergency vet. I've never felt so valued and appreciated as a client. VEG stands on its own for superior customer experience but when you contrast it with the experience I had just a few minutes earlier, it stands head and shoulders above any other emergency vet.

During an incredibly difficult time, they were so helpful and comforting. We were able to move right to a room to share our last moments with Cody. This week, my dog had eaten something and could not keep anything down. I hoped it would pass, but she could not settle down when it was time for bed. In the middle of the night, I drove across town. They saw and triaged my pup as soon as I went in. It took a while, but all of the staff were loving on my pup and explained everything they were going to do. Thankfully, the X-rays did not show any blockage (she had surgery the previous year because of something she had eaten and could not pass). They gave her a shot to calm her nausea. She relaxed immediately and slept through the night, or what was left of it. The next day, she was back to her normal self.

We spent nearly 4 hours at the clinic until around 1 AM, yet we left without any real clarity, guidance, or sense of urgency from the staff. The veterinarian on site seemed inexperienced as there was no clear explanation about the situation or about test results. Communication was unclear throughout the visit, with a lot of stuttering, stumbling over explanations, and difficulty giving us concise answers about what was going on with our dog. Between each interaction with the vet, we waited close to an hour at a time with very little communication or reassurance. The vet techs also appeared careless and unprofessional. Their appearance was very unkempt, and overall the environment felt disorganized and inattentive. Considering this is an urgent care facility, we expected a much higher level of professionalism, attentiveness, and compassion. Because we weren't getting clear answers or confidence in the care being provided, we decided to take our dog home and reevaluate in the morning. Tragically, later that morning our dog passed away after we brought her to another veterinary clinic. The second clinic was much more compassionate, knowledgeable, clear, and comforting during such a devastating situation. It's heartbreaking and frustrating because we chose UrgentVet believing it would be a reliable and experienced emergency facility close to home. Unfortunately, our experience left us feeling dismissed, unsupported, and deeply disappointed during one of the worst moments of our lives.

This is a LONG review but if you are questioning whether you should go here i highly suggest you…read moreread it; I brought my 6 year old Chihuahua in on 01/05, first off they contacted us first to ask if we would like to take advantage of the free first exam coupon and got us an appointment literally for 1 hour later. The timing was impeccable. Second, once we got to VCA Valley we were greeted by very welcoming receptionists who got us checked in immediately, we were seen within 10/15 minutes of getting there by a vet tech named Alex, and brought to an exam room. he was amazing and went through all the notes the call center employee noted, we explained Daisy's full history, he checked her vitals and was so gentle with her as she was very nervous. Then we were shortly seen by Dr Zatlow (spelling may be wrong but i know they refer to her as Dr Z!) and she was very compassionate, she listened attentively, she gave us a thorough explanation and examined Daisy accordingly all with us present in the exam room. She stated all her concerns and then laid out a treatment plan for us that fit within our budget (as we were facing some financial difficulties at this time) Alex did a phenomenal job of explaining CareClub to us and the advantage of using that plan to minimise the up front cost for Daisy to have blood work done. They also refilled her prescription for her valley fever medication and seizure medication AND sent us home with a steroid for her autoimmune disorder. The next day i contacted them again to schedule her blood draw and i expressed to them i wanted to keep her appointments with Dr Z and her team and they fitted me in with a blood draw for the following day at 11AM So 01/07 we went and got her blood drawn, they again greeted us very welcoming, they got us into an exam room within 15 mins, they checked her vitals again and took her back for the draw which took no longer than 15/20 mins. We spoke with Dr Z again and she spoke to us further about what our focus is and what our next steps will be. They informed us that the blood samples would be sent out that night and we would get the results by the weekend, this visit again was very informative and we left very satisfied with the care Daisy was given. The unfortunate part of all this, was that my dogs health took a pretty rapid decline, this was no ones fault other than the relapse in her condition was working rapidly and she was showing very bad signs, we contacted VCA valley that same night (01/07 around 9pm) and we were told we would receive a call from the emergency techs who would triage her via phone to tell us if we needed to bring her in or not (and this triage call is of no cost to us, it is not considered an exam so there is no fee). This visit was the longest of all of them, Daisy was taken back immediately and in the back for about an hour before we got taken into an exam room. after Megan spoke with the Doctor the Doctor then came to us (i do not remember this Dr's name but she was also very kind, compassionate and thorough in all her explanations) she outlined the severity of Daisy's symptoms and the extent of the care that she would need and the risks involved, and after a lot of discussion with my partner we decided it was ABSOLUTELY in Daisy's best interest to let her sleep peacefully. And although this was such an unexpected decision and it absolutely broke me to do it, i NEVER felt pressured to do this, Megan the vet tech and the Doctor did not force me to do this, they gave me every option possible. They got her comfortable, They brought her to me and gave me and my partner time to say goodbye, i had decided i didnt want to be present while they put her to sleep as it was just too hard for me. Megan the tech stayed with me in the lobby while i waited for my boyfriend to come out the exam room. She was sleeping eternally at 3am on 01/08 The paperwork was easy, i signed and picked out the urn for my baby, due to our financial situation we signed a "promise to pay" for me to pay over the next week so i could get her ashes back. It was all very simple and affordable and they are working with a timeline that fits my pay schedule. I just have to end this very long winded review that the specific drs and techs that we saw were absolutely amazing, i would recommend trying to get appointments with Dr Z and her team if you can, Im happy that they even gave my baby a chance to try and treat her condition, her health just declined so rapidly and that was no ones fault. Thank you VCA for giving my girl a chance, it gave me a few extra days to love on her before letting her rest with dignity and peace.

She had bad anxiety around people that she didn't know but trusted me completely. They insisted on taking her into the back room and doing a wellness check on her without me. We knew that death was close, but my daughter and I couldn't possibly cope with waiting even one more day and risk finding her dead, hidden away somewhere. Since my daughter was emotionally overwrought and unable to make any kind of decision, I did what mothers always do: I took charge. Since we had been to this emergency vet before, and they are open 24 hours a day (thank heavens!), I left my daughter at home and drove our poor failing kitty down to them for euthanasia. From the moment I walked in the door, the wonderful staff took charge immediately and were extremely compassionate and kind to me. After ushering kitty and me to their private 'family bereavement' room, they walked me through all the options available for when a beloved pet is being put to sleep, and they were very sensitive to my feelings...and my sobbing so hard, I could barely speak. Their kindness made this whole necessary event much more bearable for me. After it was mercifully over, I was able to go back home and give my daughter a good report and assure her that our much-loved kitty was treated very kindly at the end and didn't suffer one bit. I highly, highly recommend Southern Az. Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center for their skilled professionalism and compassion, AND especially for being available 24 hours a day, even on a Sunday! But Dr. Horton, all of the veterinarians, and all of the technicians and front desk staff are consistently excellent and I wish I could remember all their names!. Facility is great and I'll get to one very important detail about the facility in a minute, but it's spacious, plenty of room for customers and their pets, plenty of exam rooms, and a nice restroom, plus the pet-themed artwork is great. I really like the online presence, with automated scheduling, conversing with staff, and even the ability to specify technician or specific veterinarian. Now, based on my most recent experience, I wanted to call attention to the comfort room. Unfortunately I had to euthanize one of my cats last week, and not only did they get me in quickly - which should not go unrecognized - but that entire comfort room experience is about as good as it gets. The room itself is incredibly well thought out, with nice calming music, plenty of tissues, comfortable seating, the right low lighting (don't overlook that, it's part of the transitional euthanasia experience), and pleasant decorations. I don't mind one bit that there's some display of (forgive me if this isn't the right term) remembrance artifcacts depending on your method of handling the remains, I actually thought that was a nice touch. They planned this room out really well when building the facility, you can drive right up to it's dedicated entrance, so you don't have to walk through the main area crying your eyes out. But that's all about the facility, let's not forget how compassionate and sympathetic the staff who handle that experience are. And not fake sympathy either, legitimate care and concern. And great attention to detail. Whether it's routine care, purchasing supplies, or euthanasia, Dove Mountain Veterinary handles all of it deftly. And reasonably priced, too.
