Been a client for several years. They do a LOT of things really well and have effectively saved at least one of my pet's lives (dog with an obstruction, Dr. Campbell). But Dr. Horton, all of the veterinarians, and all of the technicians and front desk staff are consistently excellent and I wish I could remember all their names!. Facility is great and I'll get to one very important detail about the facility in a minute, but it's spacious, plenty of room for customers and their pets, plenty of exam rooms, and a nice restroom, plus the pet-themed artwork is great. I really like the online presence, with automated scheduling, conversing with staff, and even the ability to specify technician or specific veterinarian. Now, based on my most recent experience, I wanted to call attention to the comfort room. Unfortunately I had to euthanize one of my cats last week, and not only did they get me in quickly - which should not go unrecognized - but that entire comfort room experience is about as good as it gets. The room itself is incredibly well thought out, with nice calming music, plenty of tissues, comfortable seating, the right low lighting (don't overlook that, it's part of the transitional euthanasia experience), and pleasant decorations. I don't mind one bit that there's some display of (forgive me if this isn't the right term) remembrance artifcacts depending on your method of handling the remains, I actually thought that was a nice touch. They planned this room out really well when building the facility, you can drive right up to it's dedicated entrance, so you don't have to walk through the main area crying your eyes out. But that's all about the facility, let's not forget how compassionate and sympathetic the staff who handle that experience are. And not fake sympathy either, legitimate care and concern. And great attention to detail. Whether it's routine care, purchasing supplies, or euthanasia, Dove Mountain Veterinary handles all of it deftly. And reasonably priced, too. read more

I used to go to the Pet Doctor but they aren't open on weekends so I decided to try Dove Mountain Veterinary. My 2 year-old Rottweiler hurt her right hind leg and barely put any weight on it. The first time I went, the Vet examined and speculated she may have torn her ACL. She prescribed Carprofen and rest which I did for 3 weeks but nothing really changed. I went back to Vet to have X-rays just to give me peace of mind it wasn't a fracture, dislocation, or a tumor. They wanted to sedate my Rottweiler just to take x-rays which is absurd to say the least. Not to mention, anesthesia is dangerous. I'm a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and I can honestly say there has never been any MD, DO, NP, or PA that has ever sedated their patient just to take x-rays. Besides the dangers of anesthesia, Dove Mountain also charges about $200 more just for the propofol anesthetic which has an extremely short half-life of about 10-15 minutes. They want to sedate every animal for x-rays, teeth cleaning, sutures, nail removal..etc because that's how they make their money. While I was in the lobby with my Rottweiler, a "Ken & Karen" came in the front door with their two big poodle looking dogs without securing their leashes tight. Karen slipped/tripped (I believe she had a few drinks) and her big poodle came dangerously close to my Rottweiler's teeth. I told her to control her dog for fear my Rottweiler would tear it open. Both her and Ken decided to get loud and mouthy which I returned. Long story short, my bill would have been just under $400 for x-rays and Carprofen refill. If I used sedation, my bill would have been almost $600. They had my Rottweiler back in the radiology room for almost 30 minutes and then came out and said they could only do 1 view because my dog was shaking too much ‍. Here's an idea, instead of convincing customers to sedate their beloved pets, have them next to their pet during x-rays to calm them down I will be looking for a new Veterinary Clinic after this ordeal. read more

Been going here for several years the staff is always pleasant the doctors are kind and take their time. Luckily my visits have only been for regular check ups and vaccinations. They always call me the next day to check on my dogs. They send me reminders for vaccinations which is a great help since I am busy with work and kids. read more

The vet took our new puppy, and as a new patient in right from the beginning, noticed a few different things we need to check out. Not only was she phenomenal and also very observant of but also kind and very nice. We would appreciate any further would take care of our dog just like family. I'm new at this place, still the prices are sometimes fair, other times not. One time I prepaid for test results, then they tried to charge me when I told them I had already paid. It took them a few people and a few minutes to realize I had already paid, not so impressed with that. Vet seems good, although I wound up with a different one the second time, I feel it is a personal thing, and they shouldn't switch vets on you, unless you ask. Too soon to give an absolute opinion on how I really feel, but certainly will update as I find out. read more

Was a bit hesitant to try this place after some of the reviews but we needed to get our newest cat a checkup and most of the other places had a long wait to get an appointment. Others have said the front desk staff were cold but we didn't get that at all. They got us into a room quickly and the tech took all our information as well as checked Pickles temp then the doc came in. After treatment they went over the bill very thoroughly explaining what we didn't understand. The overall price was very reasonable and nothing was added that we didn't get. We have an appointment to get our dog his rabies shot in about a week so I'll update how that goes but so far we're happy with them. read more

Sad situation. Our 22 year old cat, Brooklyn, was exhibiting signs of a UTI. Given her age we wanted to just treat it, wait for our daughter to come home from college in a week and then make a decision to euthanize her. We did not want her to be in any pain and knew that if her conditioned worsened, we would take the most caring action. They were gracious enough to give us an antibiotic without the need to see her -- for that we were grateful! Fast forward a few hours later....she started to urinate more blood. We immediately called them (at 5:20pm) to bring her to be euthanized. They put me on hold for a few minutes, came back on the line and informed me that the doctors were gone for the day. They recommended we take her to an emergency clinic some 20 additional minutes away. We went there, and paid, I am sure double the money. I assumed the Dove Mtn clinic was closed only to find out their hours are until 7pm. What clinic would do that? I am crying as I write this review. It's shameful. I have made 3 separate/different occasions, attempts to get my sick and injured small dog in to be evaluated and treated and all 3 times I was told there were no available Urgent care appointments even though I called early morning. Even though I expressed my dogs illness, dehydration and constant vomiting, I was turned away. As I do understand being booked, but with a severe illness or emergency, accommodations should be made at all costs. Luckily my dog pulled through but not without treatment and a recovery period. Her illness could've killed her. My thoughts are that DMV is a great place for regular pet exams and vaccines, but in urgent matters, it hard to get in.... But they do provide information on Urgent Care facilities. Please note that the DMV boarding has been fabulous. read more

I started bringing my pup here when we moved into a house just a couple minutes away, so about three years now. I have been really happy with the staff and services. I've brought my dog for annual exams, vaccines, teeth cleaning, and a couple one-off issues. Everything has gone quite smoothly. I find the prices reasonable, but I admit I've only gone to one other vet prior. I thought the teeth cleaning would be astronomical, but it was only $400 for the anesthesia and everything. I guess I was expecting more based on what I've heard from fellow dog owners. Their new COVID protocol is curbside service. So you pull up in your car and call the desk, and a staff member will come get your pet, take them inside for whatever treatment they need, and then return them and take payment with a handheld credit card reader. It's actually really convenient, and I appreciate them doing that to prevent spread of COVID. But my dog doesn't prefer it! He usually is quite calm coming to the vet when I am with him, but he was very nervous going in without me. The tech was very sweet to him though. She called me and let me know he was very nervous but doing well, and she went really slow and "talked him through the process, letting him know what she was doing." I thought that was very endearing! My pup has some pretty severe confinement anxiety and I sought out a vet's advice for some medication while he is crated. Dr. Campbell seemed reluctant to prescribe anything but did suggest CBD (although it was off the record). I didn't agree with that, because that isn't regulated and there is no way of telling what's in that. She prescribed Clomicalm, which did nothing. That is really the only time I wasn't satisfied with the service/treatment here. Every other time I have brought my dog in, we have received great care. read more

Follow-up to my previous review: I am a long-time grooming client of Dove Mountain Veterinary and my standard poodle had a grooming appointment at Dove Mountain Vet. at 3:30 pm on Friday, February 16. I have never had any issues with the grooming or service I have received in the past. However, at 5:30 pm that Friday, I received a phone call from your office stating that Anton had two broken nails on his rear left paw, and one nail was bleeding. There was a vague explanation that it must have happened when he was taken out of his crate. When I picked up my dog, no one apologized or gave me further information as to what had happened. I was offered a 20% discount on the grooming. I refused to pay anything for the grooming, given the fact that my dog's paw had been injured, and asked to see a veterinarian to find out what issues might occur as a result of the broken nails and if any treatment would be required. She suggested I keep a close watch on the paw and that she would prescribe antibiotics, if I wished. On February 18 I emailed you to inform you that the nail was still weeping blood intermittently which was curtailing his ability to go to his dog camp and go on walks. Your doctor on duty that day recommended sending pictures of the wound which I supplied and she subsequently recommended a course of antibiotics and pain medication which I picked up and commenced that day. On February 27 and on March 1 (two weeks later), not only had my dog's broken nail wound not healed, in spite of the medication, it had opened up and was bleeding. I called your office manager on March 1 to request an appointment with a vet and was told that she could not do so until she spoke to her lawyers. As my dog's nail was still bleeding and it was apparent he needed immediate attention, I called another Veterinary Center who saw him within the hour. The Vet explained that his nails needed to be removed down to the quick in order for them to heal properly. She sedated my dog, performed the procedure, prescribed a course of antibiotics and pain killers and stated that he needed to be at home for two weeks with an e-collar to prevent him from licking his wounds and inactive - so no walks or dog camp. Furthermore, we had vacation plans for the following week which we have had to cancel so that we can take care of my dog at home. Dove Mountain Veterinary's response to the initial injury, appropriate service, follow-up treatment, and handling of this situation is not only totally unprofessional but completely unacceptable and unconscionable. I entrust the grooming, safety and care of my dog to Dove Mountain Veterinary. I should be assured that if something does go wrong, he will be well taken care of in a timely and professional manner. This has certainly not been the case. I am waiting for their reply. read more

My husband and I recently lost our super sweet Boxer, and Dr. Layton and her staff at Dove Mountain Vet were extremely caring and attentive. Our boy had a condition that wasn't going to improve, and Dr. Layton made sure he wasn't in any pain in the months before he passed away. We felt absolutely comfortable with her diagnosis and treatment plan. In an emergency yes, otherwise no. I'm extremely disappointed in my visit yesterday. They did amazing with social distancing and also were very kind. My problem is with pricing. I have a dog that needed a dental and three teeth looked pretty bad on the top front. I agreed to a blood draw and was given a quote of $518-$948.80 for a teeth cleaning (minus the $90.25 for the blood draw.). The thought of possibly paying almost a $1,000 for a teeth cleaning is truly amazing. I just could stomach the "what if," that's the bill tomorrow when I go to pick him up? Yes three teeth needed to be extracted, the vet said "they are already loose." I called another vets office (got us in today), $316 for the cleaning (mind you I would have paid for the blood work but had a copy from this vet). Zero charge for the teeth extraction because the were so loose. Even if the bill was the low end at Dove Mountain, I saved myself money today looking at reviews and making a phone call. And didn't show up to a possible $1,000 bill. I won't be back. read more

The vet clinic at Dove Mountain is by far the best place to go. Hands down. I've been going to the Pet Doctor for a long time now, but recently had an incident that left us disappointed in our experience and still needing immediate help with our pet FAST. After some pretty extensive searching for a place that didn't have horrible reviews like some had (especially the affordable ones), we eventually found Dove Mountain Veterinary We were blown away It was so different in contrast to all the other places we had ever gone to previously but not too different than most in pricing, maybe even cheaper than some (??).. and we had better care for our pets than anywhere else I had ever gone to before. Such kind staff and doctors that really took time to talk and explain things, and we really felt the facility was a clean and more relaxing environment than most vets, which was a first. Not to mention they're open on the weekends. If you go anywhere, go here. It isn't as cheap as some, and they don't however allow payments, unfortunately, but so so worth it And the care and attention that goes into your animal, by far outruns them all.. it's seriously is the best place for your pet. I love the Vet, but the service is horrible. I am shocked and shaking after the day with the front office. My dog is older and has hip issues and we sent a request last night to get a prescription for Gabepentine in addition to his daily Galiprant. After 3 email and phone conversations with the front desk, she said she cannot promise to get this done, its a 24-28 hour return time on prescriptions, which I asked, "even for a dog in pain, a non-routine prescription? Doesn't the Vet have an "expedited or elevated" process for these situations? She said NO. She was "too busy" earlier to help us and get this done. Asked for someone who CAN do this for me, she said her manager wasn't in. I find this absolutely unacceptable for a vet who we go to for every issue with our dog for the last year. A simple prescription to call in for a dog whimpering and in pain. I wish I could give this a 5 star, I do not like to write bad reviews, give the benefit of the doubt, but I am so upset and find their standard practices so out of touch with what pet and pet owners need I had to write this. I would give 5* for the care with our Dr there, but if we cannot get our pet a simple prescription without the front desk blocking any "emergency" I cannot imagine continuing to go to this Vet. Also, BTW, they want you to schedule emergency vet appointments. I ask, how in the world do you schedule an emergency? read more

Dove Mountain Vet has no interest in keeping your pet healthy. They have absolutely no compassion and will refuse to make the slightest accommodation to make sure your pet stays healthy. They have demonstrated their lack of concern for my dogs well-being twice now and by their demeanor could care less. We will never go here again. read more

We have three doggos and have been to Paws, VCA, and Pet Doctor. We will stay with Dove Mountain Vet because the doctor's hours are seven days a week and they're available up until 9pm. They understand that people work for a living and can't wait in line at a vet office on a weekday for 2-3 hours on a walk-in basis for vaccines. Dove Mountain also doesn't nickel and dime us for simple things like a Bordetella Vaccine visit. In addition, we recently had to take our old chihuahua in for a torn tendon and they didn't recommend him for an expensive/pointless X-Ray like other inexperienced vets would have done. He's already had knee surgery on his other hind leg, so we know. Anyway, awesome staff and reliable hours! read more

We are so appreciative of Dr. horton and the staff at Dove Mountain Veterinary. We were camping this past week at a state park and one of our dogs hurt his shoulder. Dr. Horton agreed to see our dog as an urgent care patient. This was the only clinic in the area that made time to work our little guy into their very busy schedule. She and her staff provided excellent care. We wish she would move to our town in northern Arizona as we would definitely want her for our permanent vet. I had a slight emergency called at 7:30 am on a Saturday and they were able to take our pup in at 12:30 same day. Needed to get sutures and sedated for a cut. What I appreciated was they told me appx what the cost would be when I called.( which others would t even dare give me a estimate) as well my regular vet was not open on a Saturday . I truly appreciate the awesome service and great customer service. As well didn't mind having to pay what I thought was reasonable pricing for the great same day service. Do NOT take your Pet here. They cannot be trusted. They head nod and say no worries - no worries. Sure, absolutely. Should we worry if - it's our second time there and we have to leave our emergency and contact information AGAIN ? DMV - Yeah sorry bout that but seems our file isn't complete. No worries - guess the first time they had no file on us after completing. DMV - No worries and we got it now. We leave our dog for 3 days after calling in twice (speaking to same - front desk) about grooming being important due to visiting holiday guests and allergies etc. DMV - Sure we got it, no worries. We call a second time to assure they have the grooming - DMV - We have it down and no worries. We pick up our dog and she looks a mess. We ask is she was groomed, shampooed, combed out as we purposely called twice on. DMV - Let us check that it happened DMV come out with paperwork not mentioning it, then tells us no she wasn't combed out nor groomed as requested and says "no worries" Yeah it seems it wasn't noted and the groomers not here. No worries though....we could taker her home and call back the groomer later. Then I guess bring dog back in later Dove Mountain Vet - You have broken processes and people that simply don't care about the business and simple walk around saying sure and no worries. No worries ? Now we look at dog and think Did she actually get her shots? Did she actually get glands taken care of? No worries ? Are you kidding me. DO NOT TRUST THIS VET Update : Looked at bill and seems we were charged $10 for late pick up. I guess we complained to long in the parking lot the morning we were scheduled to pick her up. Took my 1 year old fur baby because he was limping. After Dr Gamez looked and did xrays it was determined he needed a brace as he had two fractures and acl tare. The look of the X-ray showed it was fresh and just happened The next day they call me to tell me the X-ray was read by the tech and it was not a fresh break but old and it was no acl tare. And they didn't think the brace was going to help any. Suggested I see the surgeon to see if he needed pins for the fractures and tares. 400 dollars later. A week goes by and I don't want to go to the surgeon as it was healing and no tare. I take off his brace and he has been rubbed raw and blood on the gauze he has been snapping at my other dogs. He is blistered on his foot as it's wrapped like a ballerina. He won't put his foot down to walk on it. I call and let them know it's not acceptable and they offer me to have him checked for infection. I decline as i don't trust them. They offer for me to have him checked at their sister location in Twin Peaks. No thanks I requested a refund for the splint and for it being so tight and hurting my pet. Nope they offered me a service and don't feel they need to do anything. I didn't want to discuss the events over and over as we were in tears from our findings. read more

We usually go to Twin Peaks Vet, which is owned by the same as DMV. First time get our 7 month old Golden-doodle puppy groomed. Price was excellent and she was groomed well. Found a few spots of untrimmed hair on head and tail, which is probably a challenge itself, so no big deal. Was exactly what we were hoping for, couldn't be cuter. We will definitely be back. We brought our poor pup who had been hit by a car while we were on vacation in. The entire staff is so kind and you can tell that they care immensely about your pets. The doctor is absolutely wonderful and made sure to show us how to treat his wounds confidently. She cared so much about how he felt and made sure that we were comfortable as well.
