My daughter was recommended this vet by a friend and she was inpressed when she took her dog there. She's an experienced doggy Mom. She Said the doc and staff were perfect and the place felt like a spa. She could stay there a lot longer. That's a huge compliment to any veterinary practice. read more

Four Paws was our vet since 2001 when we rented on the east side of Tucson. Around 2014 we switched vets to St Mary's Pet Clinic because it was closer. Dr Fender was our vet until Covid changed everything. Dr Fender sold his business during Covid then the new owners changed their hours making it impossible to make appointments on Saturdays. So I switched back to Dr Mary at Four Paws a few years ago because they are still open on Saturdays. Yesterday I took my dog, Feebee for her physical and while we're waiting I heard Dr Fenders voice and sure enough... he recently bought the business from Dr Mary and is our vet once again. This is great for us because he was Feebee's first vet and now he is once again. I really want to mention Dr Fenders is a joint specialist so if your pets suffer from joint pain he is the vet you want to see. read more

Very kind staff. Great listeners and flexible I. How they manage your animals based on what you know about them.

I went in to get my cats vaccinated and the lady vet refused to vaccinate them without a test prior. I knew they had been tested before and were negative. Other vets do not require a test for annuals as well. They charged me $124 for the office visit without giving me vaccines. Waste of money and time. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Dr. Allison Haydt was wonderful, we met her today for the first time when we brought our frenchie in for issues with her back legs. Dr. Haydt was very compassionate and knowledgable, exactly the type of vet we were hoping to find. Our dog is already feeling better, so we're very relieved. We have two other dogs and will definitely bring them all to this clinic under her care. read more

One would think that the staff would let you know that your vet had retired and a completely new one had taken their place prior to booking an appointment, but that is not the case. Upon arrival, I was told that my pet had to have a an exam in addition to the Parvo shot and nail trim I had scheduled. I never saw a Vet. Only a very chatty tech who kept us in the room for nearly half an hour before administering the Parvo shot. Had I been able to actually meet the Vet I would probably have felt more comfortable, but since he made no effort to even introduce himself, I won't be going back. read more

This is gonna be long. But it is the story of how we met and why we deeply appreciate Dr. Mary. We first met her when we found a stray cat in our yard about 15 years ago. Half its skin was missing on one side. You could see raw flesh. It was a super sweet cat and we asked friends for recommendations on where to take it. Dr. Mary was recommended as someone who is concerned for strays. We took the cat in and she only charges us $35. She took it in to monitor and clean his wounds and give him meds. He also had a high fever. She paid for everything to care for it until we could find an organization to take over and pay for its extensive surgery. My young children wrote her a thank you, and we would see it in her office for some time. Later on when we adopted pets again, we knew she would be our vet because of her past kindness. Another story. Our one year old cat start yowling in pain in the middle of the night. We took it to Pima Emergency (do not recommend). They did x-rays and lots of tests. $600 later they said they couldn't figure out what was wrong and wanted us to do $2000 more in tests. We waited for Four Paws to open and they took him in immediately and had x-rays transferred. Our cat had a heart defect that he would not be able to live through. Dr. Mary could easily see it on the x-ray, while Pima couldn't. We ended up having to euthanize our cat, and Dr. Mary and staff were so comforting and kind. Wrapping him in a beautiful blanket. I will never forget their kindness that day. Oh wait! Another story. Dr. May also named our dog. We found him on the street after a monsoon. He needed a name for a rabies shot. We were calling out different names and Dr. Mary said he was definitely a Neville (Longbottom, from Harry Potter). Nobody noticed him at first, but then he rose up to become a hero! read more

I took my dog to see Dr. Mary and she is, no longer, there. (No letter, email or phone call letting us know). When I called to say my dog was throwing up blood, they said they didn't have anything until the next week! I said, "Surely, you allow for emergency appointments for established patients." I was put on hold and they came back and had an appointment that afternoon. My husband took the dog in and came back with two prescriptions. I asked him what was wrong with the dog and he said he didn't know. I asked him how he could give prescriptions for something that he didn't know what was wrong with the dog. On Saturday, she started pooping blood. I called, again, to see if I could bring her back for a x-ray of her belly to see if she had a bowel blockage. She said she would go to the vet and call me right back within five minutes. I never heard from anyone. I'm saying this to say, fo not take your beloved family members to this place....they do not give a crap! If I could give this place a zero, I would! read more

This establishment is under new management so disregard old reviews! Dr. Fender is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This clinic is affordable, friendly, and no unnecessary testing or pushy sales. Very grateful that we found Four Paws, highly recommend! read more

We were traveling when my dog develop a UTI (blood in the urine). Our plans called for us to drive the next several days to rural areas and small towns. My pooch needed attention today. I called around and, though I explained our situation and that I do not live in Tucson, none of the other vets could offer me even a quick exam. Four Paws was the exception. They scheduled an appointment that day, spent quality time examining my dog, and quickly diagnosed the problem. They were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about how to deal with excitable dogs like mine. Four Paws staff saved our trip and had my dog feeling comfortable again in no time. read more

I'm surprised at the negative reviews here. Have taken my dogs to Dr Mary for years, and always had a good experience. She is knowledgeable, staff is welcoming, and prices are fair. I have no qualms recommending 4Paws. read more

I have been a repeat customer for over 9 years. Their service has downgraded since 2020. I have had issues such as rudeness, mis prescribing medication, being given a lower dosage of medicine being charged for the higher dose, not calling in prescriptions, not contacting me as soon as they have test results and working with assistant on phone being told to call back because they are getting too busy even though I am a paying client, being told that a pharmacy doesn't have medicine when I called pharmacy they said they have medicine in stock and 4 paws never even called them first before telling me they were out of medicine, the costs have increased dramatically since 2020, they used to work with people like me that save pets from Tucson streets and offer a sliding scale, they no longer do even though they have many more customers than when I first came here. Cost for antibiotics for two dogs and Valley Fever testing, $420.00. I no longer recommend Dr. Mary or her staff a 4 paws. Nothing special anymore just. I definitely no longer recommend this business. read more

Will NOT be going back here. Wow. Just wow. I thought this place was great, but it has the WORsE customer service. I called to get my pup in for an appointment and the FO couldn't find my account as if I was dumb( that's how she treated me, which was extremely unprofessional) it is not my fault they spelled my name wrong but she treated me so poorly and making snide comments. I had been a few times and never had trouble like this before. But apparently then she couldn't get me in for a week because it was TOO much trouble to find my account. I will do anything for my dog, but I will not let someone degrade me or treat me poorly.. NOPE. Don't go unless you want someone to talk down to you FOR no reason. read more

I've rarely had such a negative experience with a veterinary clinic, and the vet in particular ~ as an animal lover and former foster parent of more than 50 cats/dogs, I don't say that lightly. This vet could hardly be bothered to lay her hands on my beautiful senior German Shepherd, basically saying of my dog, old age "is her new normal". It took nearly 3 weeks for a signature on a Chewy.com prescription, despite repeated attempts by dedicated Chewy staff. When I called about it, I got a lot of "attitude" from front desk staff. Absolutely DONE with this place. read more

We adopted our long time foster dog so we took her in for a check up. Everyone is required to wear masks to make sure staff and pet parents are safe. The vet tech and Dr Mary handled my extremely nervous dog well. They promptly called the pharmacy to refill serval meds. They even remember we have a cat and asked if they get along. How thoughtful! The visit was complementary since we adopted her from a rescue. Thank you Four Paws! read more

Well if you wanna set fire to $300 and not get a single thing accomplished this is your vet. They barely inspect your dog you bring them in you ask for an x-ray for my dog that has a limp and the vet says it's not necessary you leave with no new answers and no solutions and God for bid you have to call and speak to the vet you will never talk to her again you'll get meddled by the front desk girl that doesn't know the first thing about nothing terrible!!!!!!!!!! read more

Wow, I can't believe how rude and unprofessional the receptionist was. I showed up at 8am when they first opened up with a dog that was clearly in some distress (broken paw). The receptionist first took a phone call as we stood in front of the front desk waiting to be welcomed (we walked in, she saw us, then the phone rang and she answered it). When she was finally done I showed her the issue and kind of expected a response in line with "what's wrong", "what happened" or "how can I help"? Instead she asked if I had an appointment. When I let her know that I didn't have an appointment but needed some help, her response: "what do you want me to do, I'm not the vet"? I'm stunned at the lack of compassion or professionalism, and can't believe that anyone has had a positive experience at this place. Dr. Mary might be great but I'd never know, her receptionist made sure of that. read more

My sister and I took a puppy here for a quick exam and to give him a DAPP shot, which he needed yesterday. Long story short, on the way to the clinic he had an accident in his crate and had some poop on his paws when we got him out of the crate. An embarrassing accident, but the vet tech really made it a huge issue. She kept telling him that he was a gross, dirty, nasty puppy. Even suggested that my sister name him "Nasty." Look -- he was a scared puppy and had an accident. How about you just give us some paper towels and tell us to clean up his feet before the examination?? Examination was sparse. Didn't weigh him. Vet barely looked at him. They just kept emphasizing that he was a day late on his DAPP shot. Yes, we're aware of that, our bad. But being one day late is not the worst thing in the world. After all, we've brought the puppy in to get the shot, so how about you don't make us feel like we're terrible people? Just mention it once, but don't keep beating a dead horse with the same stick. When it was time for the shot, the vet didn't even want to touch the dog because he had poop on his feet. I get it. That's nothing anyone wants. But again, you're a vet clinic. How about you let us wipe his feet down with some paper towels or something? Maybe spend five minutes and go put his feet in the sink? I get it --you want to rush people in and out. But it was unprofessional not to want to care for the dog carefully while giving him a shot. And she kept tapping him on the nose while giving him the shot like he was misbehaving or something, but he was just sitting there. Didn't like the way they treated him. DAPP shot was $32 (overpriced!). I would be happy to pay this if I felt like the overall experience was worth it. But it wasn't. Also, this place decided that they were going to trash talk the Humane Society (where this puppy has been adopted from) in front of the people that adopted him! No "thanks for adopting" or anything like that. Just a lot of bad things to say about the Humane Society. I get it -- they aren't my favorite place in the world either and have issues -- but should you really start bashing them to someone that just adopted a puppy from them?! How about you work with the Humane Society, not against them. For that alone, I'd be willing not to come back here. I really wanted to like this place. I see a lot of older reviews that show maybe this is not their normal behavior, or wasn't in the past. But just because of this experience and the unprofessional nature of the vet tech and staff I encountered today, I don't think I will be back. A tip to this business: Teach your staff not to bash places where caring people are trying to adopt and rescue dogs. And if a puppy has an accident, don't act like dogs don't have accidents when they're scared, in a crate, and at a new place. It makes it seem like you've never seen a dog shit before -- and you're vets, so hopefully you have! read more

So I never thought I'd review a vet clinic on Yelp, but I've had such good experiences here, and what with my cat's recent slew of visits.... I'm feeling the need to voice my appreciation. I am a relatively new cat owner, but said new cat happens to be an extremely bony old grandpa cat, which means that for the past few years, I have been neurotic borderline unreasonable when it comes to watching over his health. And every time I come to this clinic, I leave happy with the visit. 1. The staff are SUPER welcoming, compassionate, and respectful. They always treat me and the kitty with warmth and kindness, and I can't think of a time I wasn't able to get a same-day appointment. 2. Dr. Mary is extremely intelligent -- as indicated by both her practice and the degree in veterinary medicine from Cornell!!!!! -- and always lays out suggestions and options when it comes to treatments. She doesn't push unnecessary procedures, medications, or appointments, and has helped my poor little dude with a variety of issues, from dental to respiratory to allergic to skin-lump related. 3. On top of it all, the office is neat and clean, and with all the windows and natural sunlight, it makes what might be a scary place for pets feel homey, comfortable, and inviting. I am completely satisfied with my experience at this clinic and will continue to be a patron when it comes to my current and future pets. read more

I'm very thankful to have found Four Paws. The staff are friendly and caring. They really took the time to listen and collect as much information as possible to help our kitty. Everyone that helped me--Cindy, Pam, Samantha and Dr. Mary--was so kind, gentle, understanding and knowledgeable. The calm environment helped me relax amidst the stress of having a fur baby not feeling well. We moved here from Florida 5 years ago, the base Davis Monthan recommended Dr.Mary. We adopted a Malti-poo from a rescue and he had Kennel cough very bad within a day... Dr. Mary literally saved his life. He went down to 4 lbs. I just new he would pass. Well I'm happy to say he is a HEALTHY 18 lb. baby boy : ) She is not only a wonderful Veternarian, she really cares. We drive almost an hour to see her with all 3 of our dogs. Yes, we could go to a dozen places a lot closer to home, but the best is worth it and Dr.Mary certainly is . I could go on and on. Thank you Dr. Mary for all your great care of our babies. This is a great little pet clinic. I needed to get my pups up to date on their shots and what not for travel. It's been a challenge finding a place my pitbull mix feels comfortable with. The staff had no problem handling them. This is where I'll take them from now on. read more

Although the prognosis for kitty was not as good as we had hoped, I was very satisfied with the experience at this clinic. The staff is professional and friendly, and also kind in recognizing how awesome my cat is. I was able to get a convenient next day appointment, twice. The office is small, and I didn't have to wait at all on my first visit; we went right into the examining room. On the second visit, I only had to wait a minute. Dr. Mary is knowledgeable and seemed to care very much for the health of my cat. We were not charged for our follow-up visit, and Dr. Mary even suggested that we would not have to bring him in if his condition worsened in the future, that she could just phone in a prescription if we needed. read more

Incredible place with people who really care about what they are doing. Extremely affordable, clean, friendly and professional.

I stopped to get medicine for my dog. I spent 50 plus dollars. As a customer I asked if I could use the restroom which happened to be well within visual sight of where I was standing. Though I was obviously in distress the lady said I'd have to go to the grocery store across the street. If I'm going to spend that much money in any business the least they could do is show a little compassion and let the customer use the restroom. I would NOT recommend this business to anybody for any reason. If I could give it less than one star I would. read more

Absolutely amazing veterinary staff. They know what they are doing and truly care about the health and care of your pet. I would recommend them to anyone. I have been taking my fur babies to Dr. Mary and her staff for about 6 years now. Everyone is always very pleasant, gentle with our babies, and extremely helpful. Dr. Mary always errs on the side of caution as far as recommending costly surgeries or medications, and always has alternatives to offer/try. Last year, we had to make the hard decision to put our old girl (3 months shy of her "sweet 16") to sleep when her kidneys failed. Dr Mary was so understanding and supportive. She even called me back a couple days later, when I was having a moment of doubt and "what ifs", to reassure me that we did the right thing for Tori. They also sent a sympathy card, and along with Tori's ashes, gave us a beautiful print of the Rainbow Bridge Poem. As long as we are living in Tucson, we will be taking our babies to Dr. Mary! read more

We really like 4 Paws. We have 4 cats and 2 dogs and have never had a problem getting in for an appointment and once there we are treated extremely well and are always happy with the pricing. We went to another vet in town for over 20 years and as the practice lost more and more of our regular vets they were replaced by some terribly uncaring, its all about the money and not how much your pet is suffering, female vets. The last time we went to get routine rabies shots the cost was over $50.00 for the shot and over $100 for the visit in which the vet didn't even speak to us and lasted maybe 2 minutes. Dr. Mary always asks great questions regarding our animals and always gives us the opportunity to ask questions. She always gives us a price before doing anything and our pets adore her. The staff is always professional, conscientious and friendly. Anyone who comes away from a visit to see Dr. Mary and is unhappy was unhappy when they went in. read more
