I'd rate Veterinary Specialty Center/Tucson a 100 if that was possible. Dr. Robert Moore and his team (Rocky and Barbara) were phenomenal when assessing and then treating my critically ill kitten. They exhibited kindness, compassion, honestly and sincere concern. Dr. Moore, a surgeon, reviewed the history and prior reports thoroughly and actually saved the kitten from a risky and expensive surgery, opting for a less invasive procedure. I truly could not have asked for any better and will be sincerely grateful forever!

If I could leave zero stars I would. My dogs eye was extremely damaged. I realized that this was an emergency so I went to what I thought was an urgent care. There is nothing urgent about this place. I checked in at 12:09. I was put into a room within a few minutes. They took his temperature and that was it. A veterinarian never came into our room to assess the eye or look at our dog. I came out and asked at 2 PM when we would be seen and they said that the vet was busy with other patients and would be with us shortly. I tried to be patient and understanding, but my dog was in extreme pain, and the fact that he was not even evaluated was starting to become very frustrating. By 3 PM We still were not seen. I have been sitting in a room for three hours with no communication. I came out and I spoke with the receptionist again and she was very rude and said that it was standard that the wait was 2 to 4 hours. I told her that this is something that they should communicate when you check in and she said well it is standard once again and I said that may be standard for you but not for everybody else in this world, they should relay that information to you when you check in so that way you're not just sitting around wondering how long it's gonna take not only that but people have other things going on in their lives, I have a child that was in school that needed to be picked up. And then when I told her that she asked me if I wanted to leave and said that there were signs posted with how long the wait was, and when I pointed out to her that there were no signs and asked her to show them to me. She laughed in my face. We ended up leaving going to another vet, which told me he needed emergency surgery to have his eye removed, then we had to find another emergency vet clinic! His Globe had ruptured and the lens was falling out. We ended going to VEG they are amazing I highly highly recommend them they actually care about animals there! I will never recommend VSCOT. They should have more concern for their patients and their customers with knowing how expensive veterinary care is going to be. They lost out on $4000. But they wasted my time and let my dog sit in agony for hours with no remorse. Not assessing a patients that come into an urgent care is insane! And malpractice.

Thank you VSCOT team for providing excellent care for my Dimmer Doo. The team is very supportive and fast acting. Doctors were very thorough in active diagnosis as well as uncovering a hidden illness and now my sweet girl has a chance to beat Valley Fever before it gets to progressive.

I took my dog to the hospital because he was attacked and has been bleeding the first place I took him was closed. When I called the SECOND place I mentioned I don't have money rn for anything if there is anything they can do. They told me about a pet credit something about some kind of scratch and pay something along those lines. I WAS NEVER TOLD I HAD TO PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT!!! They tell me to bring my dog in and we can fill out the forms. When I got there they take my dog back and give us forms to fill out. Well two minutes goes by the same lady I was on the phone with comes in and tells us it's 800$ upfront and we are like what do you mean. She says 800$ upfront or we have to bring your dog out. We of course get upset because how can we call and you reassure us and we bring him and it's the complete opposite!! It's very unexpected and I'm not sure what to do now. They called the police because we started arguing with them over a price they gave us!! Denying they ever said what was said in the beginning!!

    Tank's 13th birthday

Today my dog, Tank, celebrated his 13th birthday and it is in large part due to the great care he received at the veterinary specialty center. A special thanks to Dr Klaus and Bailey

    Corneal ulcer

I took my dog to Veterinary Emergency Group, and they were amazing they found out she has corneal ulcers on her eyes. Her eyes seemed perfectly fine before Veterinary Specialty Center did they're eye tests on her and even if they weren't fine prior they did a lousy job because they didn't pick up the corneal ulcers where as VEG saw them without even having to do a stain! Thank You Veterinary Emergency Group:) I am beyond disappointed in Veterinary Specialty Center.

I called VEG from another local emergency vet service (a national urgent care vet service located in Oro Valley) that was simply geographically closer but I'd been waiting at for 45 minutes without being seen. VEG said ok we'll see her on entry, and when you get here, let them know you already have a chart on file. As soon as I brought my dog through the door, they greeted her with a team of physicians and support staff. They were RIGHT on the situation IMMEDIATELY! With empathy, knowledge, and skill. No joke - start to finish, probably 15 minutes total from my entry to the diagnosis, treatment, and release. I was thinking this will take easily 2-3 hours here, but not at all. Yep, I got an initial diagnosis within one minute saying 99% sure it's not bloat this time but would recommend an x-ray to be certain; and more diagnostics if you want after that. Not that it's about the amount of time it takes, but that aspect wildly exceeded my expectations! But the QUALITY of care, the treatment of both my dog and me by the staff, my comfort level with the facility, they were all absolutely outstanding! So then they did the x-rays, officially ruled out bloat, and I even got a bonus look at the heart and lungs as well from that x-ray and found no issues and that's great for a 12.5 year old dog! That was a BONUS diagnosis when the sole goal of the visit was to simply rule out bloat. All done with skill and empathy! I used VEG for the bloat surgery for this same dog and I've used them in between then and now for other dogs as well. So I can say the level of service is consistently excellent. That surgery changed our dog's life and ours. She's lived her best life in the year and a half since then and it's had a positive impact on our entire pet household. Let's just say VEG was QUITE the opposite experience from the other emergency vet. I've never felt so valued and appreciated as a client. VEG stands on its own for superior customer experience but when you contrast it with the experience I had just a few minutes earlier, it stands head and shoulders above any other emergency vet.

During an incredibly difficult time, they were so helpful and comforting. We were able to move right to a room to share our last moments with Cody. They saw and triaged my pup as soon as I went in. It took a while, but all of the staff were loving on my pup and explained everything they were going to do. Thankfully, the X-rays did not show any blockage (she had surgery the previous year because of something she had eaten and could not pass). They gave her a shot to calm her nausea. She relaxed immediately and slept through the night, or what was left of it. The next day, she was back to her normal self.

The timing was impeccable. Second, once we got to VCA Valley we were greeted by very welcoming receptionists who got us checked in immediately, we were seen within 10/15 minutes of getting there by a vet tech named Alex, and brought to an exam room. he was amazing and went through all the notes the call center employee noted, we explained Daisy's full history, he checked her vitals and was so gentle with her as she was very nervous. Then we were shortly seen by Dr Zatlow (spelling may be wrong but i know they refer to her as Dr Z!) and she was very compassionate, she listened attentively, she gave us a thorough explanation and examined Daisy accordingly all with us present in the exam room. She stated all her concerns and then laid out a treatment plan for us that fit within our budget (as we were facing some financial difficulties at this time) Alex did a phenomenal job of explaining CareClub to us and the advantage of using that plan to minimise the up front cost for Daisy to have blood work done. They also refilled her prescription for her valley fever medication and seizure medication AND sent us home with a steroid for her autoimmune disorder. The next day i contacted them again to schedule her blood draw and i expressed to them i wanted to keep her appointments with Dr Z and her team and they fitted me in with a blood draw for the following day at 11AM So 01/07 we went and got her blood drawn, they again greeted us very welcoming, they got us into an exam room within 15 mins, they checked her vitals again and took her back for the draw which took no longer than 15/20 mins. We spoke with Dr Z again and she spoke to us further about what our focus is and what our next steps will be. They informed us that the blood samples would be sent out that night and we would get the results by the weekend, this visit again was very informative and we left very satisfied with the care Daisy was given. The unfortunate part of all this, was that my dogs health took a pretty rapid decline, this was no ones fault other than the relapse in her condition was working rapidly and she was showing very bad signs, we contacted VCA valley that same night (01/07 around 9pm) and we were told we would receive a call from the emergency techs who would triage her via phone to tell us if we needed to bring her in or not (and this triage call is of no cost to us, it is not considered an exam so there is no fee). This visit was the longest of all of them, Daisy was taken back immediately and in the back for about an hour before we got taken into an exam room. after Megan spoke with the Doctor the Doctor then came to us (i do not remember this Dr's name but she was also very kind, compassionate and thorough in all her explanations) she outlined the severity of Daisy's symptoms and the extent of the care that she would need and the risks involved, and after a lot of discussion with my partner we decided it was ABSOLUTELY in Daisy's best interest to let her sleep peacefully. And although this was such an unexpected decision and it absolutely broke me to do it, i NEVER felt pressured to do this, Megan the vet tech and the Doctor did not force me to do this, they gave me every option possible. They got her comfortable, They brought her to me and gave me and my partner time to say goodbye, i had decided i didnt want to be present while they put her to sleep as it was just too hard for me. Megan the tech stayed with me in the lobby while i waited for my boyfriend to come out the exam room. She was sleeping eternally at 3am on 01/08 The paperwork was easy, i signed and picked out the urn for my baby, due to our financial situation we signed a "promise to pay" for me to pay over the next week so i could get her ashes back. It was all very simple and affordable and they are working with a timeline that fits my pay schedule. I just have to end this very long winded review that the specific drs and techs that we saw were absolutely amazing, i would recommend trying to get appointments with Dr Z and her team if you can, Im happy that they even gave my baby a chance to try and treat her condition, her health just declined so rapidly and that was no ones fault. Thank you VCA for giving my girl a chance, it gave me a few extra days to love on her before letting her rest with dignity and peace.

Since we had been to this emergency vet before, and they are open 24 hours a day (thank heavens!), I left my daughter at home and drove our poor failing kitty down to them for euthanasia. From the moment I walked in the door, the wonderful staff took charge immediately and were extremely compassionate and kind to me. My dog sitter ended up taking my dog here one night while we were out of town to deal with her chronic vomiting. The vet caring for her that evening spoke with me directly over the phone to go over treatment options. I thoroughly appreciated her honesty. I ended up having to take my dog back here one night a few weeks later due to the vomiting starting up again and her primary vet also suggested what she's going through needs to be handled at an actual animal hospital. This second visit was just as efficient and also they were kind enough to waive certain fees due to us returning back to them in such a short amount of time. I also like the fact that we're able to use payment plan options via Affirm. That was extremely helpful for me during this previous emotionally tumultuous season. Nothing could have changed the outcome of the day but I am so grateful that at every moment the VEG staff was working to save my dog and caring so much for all of our comfort. They immediately got several large beds and a blanket for him to lie down and offered me a cushion. They handled him with love and checked on us in so many ways. And they tried. At one point we had something like 6 people working to stabilize him and everyone was focused and on task. I felt they worked on him not like a job but as if he was their own. I know its hard to work on a holiday and I know his death was emotional for everyone. But thank you all because at least I was with him to the very end and he knew he was being cared for. Being able to be with your dog throughout care is such a meaningful difference in the veterinary industry and in both owners and pets experience with vet care, and I feel like VEG always has such caring people.
