Lilly 1 month before I took her to Dr Bowers

Revising last post - it was Dr. Bowers. Never take your cat to Dr. Bowers. If a cat isn't eating you should check her gums, not just the lower part. My cat Lilly wasn't eating much so I brought her in April 19, 2024. $95 prepay turns into %500 after you go for the bait. $500 for bloodwork, x-rays, and another $18 for Hills prescription. Dr. Bowers said she had early kidney failure and prescribed Hills Diet. A no-brainer for a 15 year old cat. But it was a cyst on her gum. She got weaker over the next 8 months but did not want to pay another $500. I put her down January 29. She was so miserable, hiding, stopped eating the last 2 days. I found a vet to make the house call. After he left I discovered she had a cyst on her gum. All she needed was for that cyst to be lanced. She was up in years so easy to say early stages of kidney failure and think you have done your job, Dr. Bowers? The last few months of her life she was in pain. She should have been chasing balls instead of enduring pain every time she tried to eat.

I'm so disappointed in Pet Doctor for selling out to a large corporation. It absolutely ruined this practice. We had no idea when we made an appointment for an annual checkup and vaccinations for our two dogs that the business was completely different. We first had to pay a $25 deposit for each dog when we made the appointment. Weird but ok. Our bill for checkups and vaccines was a total of $351 for both dogs, which is much higher than it used to be. We skipped nail trimming because the price went from $10 to $56 and we also skipped anal gland expression because the price tripled. We were planning to make an appointment for our male dog to get neutered but they quoted us a price of almost $500. No thanks. We will be going elsewhere for that and all our other veterinary needs from here on. They couldn't even manage to get the age of one of our dogs right, even though we had been bringing him there since he was a pup. They had him listed as 15 months instead of 6 1/2 years old. Even his original owner brought him there, so he's always been in their system. I will say that the vet was extraordinarily kind but the assistant wasn't helpful with our dogs AT ALL and the front desk staff seemed indifferent. I hope the vet goes to another practice because this one is now all about the money.

If I could give this place 1,000 stars I would. They saved my cat's life! Dealing with foreign object obstruction with my kitten was a nightmare, PetDoctor always made me feel like I had someone there. I called Pet Doctor as an entirely new customer and luckily they were able to see me the same day. My 5 month old kitten had a fistful of foreign objects in her stomach and very quickly they helped me understand the situation. Dr.Garner, Dr.Bob and the whole team took such incredible care of my (very fiesty) kitten through X-Rays and surgery. Additionally, I had Covid during the entire ordeal and they took the proper precautions as well as consistently made me feel included and part of the process (even though I was stranded outside in my car.) I am also a college student and they always made sure to include me on the pricing and helped me find the most affordable options possible. Dr.Bob especially helped me out with this. I am so entirely grateful for them, their patience and expertise. You saved us! My matcha is happy, healthy and so am I. I owe it to the wonderful staff. I plan to bring my pet here if I run into another issue, thank you!

I came to Pet Doctor to look into a possible teeth cleaning/removal for my senior pit bull, Zoey, but upon asking some additional questions about some of her behaviors, Dr. McWaters encouraged me to allow her to grab some blood work and run some tests. It turns out that Zoey's kidneys were acting up. Dr. McWaters sent us home with some antibiotics and a recommended diet change and has us come back in two weeks. Zoey perked up and gained several pounds by that visit, but her kidneys remained the same. We tried to antibiotics for two more weeks along with some supplements to see if there's be any change. Unfortunately, Zoey was unable to improve and her health began declining. We had to make the decision to say goodbye to her on 5/4/2023. Dr. McWaters was there once again to go through the process of euthanasia with us as well as a fabulous tech. Although Zoey has passed on, I am thankful to the Vet and staff of this location for giving me just a few more weeks with my beloved girl. Thank you all for everything that you do

    What a joke , ridiculous

I wish i could give them a zero Star, so i made an appointment for my fur baby for his vaccinations i kept getting called and messages saying i need to make a deposit to hold the appointment which used to be 20 and it got to 25! What a joke, anyway after two days of making the appointment my dog got sick so i added a sick visit as well little bit later i got a message saying my appointment was cancelled because i didn't make the deposit so I called to reschedule and make a deposit because i am so worried about my baby dog i called and they asked to make a deposit of $106, what!! Wasn't it 25 dollars? And i always took my dogs there ! But never again i told the front desk to cancel the appointment coz no way i am paying a 106 dollars to hold an appointment only even though i don't care about money at all when it comes to my baby but this so much and its about keeping your clients and their fur friends happy and satisfied but this is place is far a way from customer service all they care about is money happily i found a better hospital in the same day with much more nice and experienced doctors and didn't have to make any deposits even though they were honest about it when i asked and they said we don't do deposits for appointments you pay at the end and our prices are a little high but i don't care as long as they are honest and i know my baby will be in a safe hands. Never going back and i hope thy lose all their customers till they go back to how they were

I AM BAFFLED ON WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE GOOD NAME "pet doctor ". This used to be extremely financially inviting and friendly. Everyone knew it was a comforting place when we would have to take our animal companions whole being financially strapped. The drs had sincerity and empathy when taking care of our pet. THAT WAS THEN...... since then there has had HUGE changes and alot of staffing issues. Everyone knows that it is hard to work for a crooked company. This week I finally went in because after leaving 5 msgs and multiple calls the past two weeks still nothing from this newer company. My normal scheduled maintenance went from $19 (anal glan expressio) last year to over $110 today!!!!???? AND EACH and EVERY time you come in for ANYTHING there Is a $68 fee, across the board..... How sad!!!!! I'm heart broken. Who was once a go to place is now a HARD PASS place.

Would you recommend them for surgeries on dogs?

A while back I was thrilled to have found this place. it was affordable and I was treated alright while there. My dog has had surgeries there. But I am now changing because of their lack of availability to answer the phone! Somethings changed.

What time do they stop taking walk ins?

Never aware of walk-ins.... Might help if they would answer the darn phone.

This is a LONG review but if you are questioning whether you should go here i highly suggest you…read moreread it; I brought my 6 year old Chihuahua in on 01/05, first off they contacted us first to ask if we would like to take advantage of the free first exam coupon and got us an appointment literally for 1 hour later. The timing was impeccable. Second, once we got to VCA Valley we were greeted by very welcoming receptionists who got us checked in immediately, we were seen within 10/15 minutes of getting there by a vet tech named Alex, and brought to an exam room. he was amazing and went through all the notes the call center employee noted, we explained Daisy's full history, he checked her vitals and was so gentle with her as she was very nervous. Then we were shortly seen by Dr Zatlow (spelling may be wrong but i know they refer to her as Dr Z!) and she was very compassionate, she listened attentively, she gave us a thorough explanation and examined Daisy accordingly all with us present in the exam room. She stated all her concerns and then laid out a treatment plan for us that fit within our budget (as we were facing some financial difficulties at this time) Alex did a phenomenal job of explaining CareClub to us and the advantage of using that plan to minimise the up front cost for Daisy to have blood work done. They also refilled her prescription for her valley fever medication and seizure medication AND sent us home with a steroid for her autoimmune disorder. The next day i contacted them again to schedule her blood draw and i expressed to them i wanted to keep her appointments with Dr Z and her team and they fitted me in with a blood draw for the following day at 11AM So 01/07 we went and got her blood drawn, they again greeted us very welcoming, they got us into an exam room within 15 mins, they checked her vitals again and took her back for the draw which took no longer than 15/20 mins. We spoke with Dr Z again and she spoke to us further about what our focus is and what our next steps will be. They informed us that the blood samples would be sent out that night and we would get the results by the weekend, this visit again was very informative and we left very satisfied with the care Daisy was given. The unfortunate part of all this, was that my dogs health took a pretty rapid decline, this was no ones fault other than the relapse in her condition was working rapidly and she was showing very bad signs, we contacted VCA valley that same night (01/07 around 9pm) and we were told we would receive a call from the emergency techs who would triage her via phone to tell us if we needed to bring her in or not (and this triage call is of no cost to us, it is not considered an exam so there is no fee). This visit was the longest of all of them, Daisy was taken back immediately and in the back for about an hour before we got taken into an exam room. after Megan spoke with the Doctor the Doctor then came to us (i do not remember this Dr's name but she was also very kind, compassionate and thorough in all her explanations) she outlined the severity of Daisy's symptoms and the extent of the care that she would need and the risks involved, and after a lot of discussion with my partner we decided it was ABSOLUTELY in Daisy's best interest to let her sleep peacefully. And although this was such an unexpected decision and it absolutely broke me to do it, i NEVER felt pressured to do this, Megan the vet tech and the Doctor did not force me to do this, they gave me every option possible. They got her comfortable, They brought her to me and gave me and my partner time to say goodbye, i had decided i didnt want to be present while they put her to sleep as it was just too hard for me. Megan the tech stayed with me in the lobby while i waited for my boyfriend to come out the exam room. She was sleeping eternally at 3am on 01/08 The paperwork was easy, i signed and picked out the urn for my baby, due to our financial situation we signed a "promise to pay" for me to pay over the next week so i could get her ashes back. It was all very simple and affordable and they are working with a timeline that fits my pay schedule. I just have to end this very long winded review that the specific drs and techs that we saw were absolutely amazing, i would recommend trying to get appointments with Dr Z and her team if you can, Im happy that they even gave my baby a chance to try and treat her condition, her health just declined so rapidly and that was no ones fault. Thank you VCA for giving my girl a chance, it gave me a few extra days to love on her before letting her rest with dignity and peace.
