However, they have consistently cared for my pets at the same level of care from the beginning. The staff are always willing to help me with any questions that I have. Dr Bob! Dr. Boooooooooooob! I am SO excited to have found this wonderful veterinarian!! AND to find that he has an equally amazing staff now?!?! I couldn't be happier! I've read a few crappy reviews on this app but please discount their words. Really read between those lines. Some chick was mad they called her to get the $25 fee in advance of her appointment. Oh come on. Getting bent for that tells me she was likely going to be a no-show anyway. In fact, all of the bad reviews I could find were about money. This isn't a charity. They have to keep the lights on, just like any other business. But let me tell you, their prices are WAY less than most other Vets in Tucson but still, the service and care they give our furbabies is FAR and away better. What do you want?! Worst experience from the front office staff to the cigarette stinking Vet Tech and Vet Dr Bob. My do was taken there for a large lump on his leg. He was examined and diagnosed with an infection. I was told and I quote the leg looked to angry and he did not want to further irritate it. I am sorry I thought he was a vet and it was his job to diagnosis and treat properly. I was told I could bring him back and they would try to aspirate it at a later time. It was an abscess that ruptured 4 days later and they told me I could bring him in 4 hours after the fact. It appears that we are finally on the road to almost complete recovery at this time its only taken 3 1/2 weeks due in part to the lack of care during the initial visit. I am filing a complaint with the Veterinary Association. I am not sure it this is a teaching facility or just simply an establishment that does not give a darn. So, I setup an appt to have my 1 year-old Pitbull spayed. I had to bring her in March 7th because Pet Doctor requires dogs to be vaccinated with Leptospirosis which costs about $60 per shot and two are required. They said she would get the 2nd shot on the day of her being spayed which was set for March 27th. I also had to put down 50% of the cost before they would even schedule surgery which I did. I never received any email or phone call which I thought was strange since it was 1 day before the procedure. I called them to make sure everything was still a go and I was placed on hold for 10 minutes just to find out that the doctor that does these procedures doesn't do them on dogs over 35 lbs which was strange because my do Sasha was 55 lbs during our first vaccination appt but was still scheduled for procedure. In any case, I would have shown up to drop off my dog at 7am tomorrow just to find out she would have been canceled despite absolutely no phone call or text or email informing me. I was furious because I had to ask for this day off from work 3 weeks in advance. I told them to refund my card for the deposit I had placed and that I would be seeking a new Veterinary Clinic because they were too incompetent. I called around to other Vets and found Dr. Kelly's Vet off of Broadway that managed to fit me in for the procedure tomorrow and they did not require Leptospirosis vaccination and neither did Marana Vet Clinic when I called them. Pet Doctor requires this vaccination not because the pet needs it, but because they obtain more money for this fraudulent service/claim.Pet Doctor used to be decent and reputable over 5 years ago. Unfortunately, some big corporation bought them out and now they are charging for the most ridiculous things like a fee for disposal of the needle used for vaccinations. If your pet needs to get fixed, please call Dr. Kelly's Clinic on Broadway in Tucson. They charge $202.00 for having my 55 lb Pitbull spayed instead of the over $300 that Pet Doctor charges for the same exact weight. Revising last post - it was Dr. Bowers. Never take your cat to Dr. Bowers. If a cat isn't eating you should check her gums, not just the lower part. My cat Lilly wasn't eating much so I brought her in April 19, 2024. $95 prepay turns into %500 after you go for the bait. $500 for bloodwork, x-rays, and another $18 for Hills prescription. Dr. Bowers said she had early kidney failure and prescribed Hills Diet. A no-brainer for a 15 year old cat. But it was a cyst on her gum. She got weaker over the next 8 months but did not want to pay another $500. I put her down January 29. She was so miserable, hiding, stopped eating the last 2 days. I found a vet to make the house call. After he left I discovered she had a cyst on her gum. All she needed was for that cyst to be lanced. She was up in years so easy to say early stages of kidney failure and think you have done your job, Dr. Bowers? The last few months of her life she was in pain. She should have been chasing balls instead of enduring pain every time she tried to eat. read more

This review is late as we started bringing our doggos here a year and a half ago. We found an American bulldog on the streets with her two 8 week old puppies and brought them here to get checked out. First of all, the STAFF!!! Amazing!! I literally have never felt more secure in a place with staff that seems to GENUINELY enjoy their job. That hardly happens in any industry. When we came in we were in a tough financial spot, but had to get the pups looked at. The doctor we saw made sure he educated us in care for the puppies and their momma who was extremely malnourished and going blind in one eye from an unknown trauma. He didn't upsell us on anything and in fact, suggested another vet for some potential surgeries wed need down the line that would be more affordable. AND he did all of that without being condescending or making us feel any sort of way for our financial woes at the time. We've brought them back a few times and each time has been an exceptional experience. I recommend them any time someone needs a vet! read more

We used this vet practice with a Humane Society dog adoption. Our previous vet is gradually closing down his practice so we were looking for a new vet home. The Pet Doctor vets were acceptable for routine care. The vet techs were the best thing about the practice. Each time we saw a different vet. Vet turnover appears to be a problem which should have been my first red flag. Our young dog is highly social. She loves everyone. She had a sudden deterioration in her condition. Lethargic, wouldn't eat, shortness of breath at rest from a dog who walks four miles a day. Super high energy and loves food- all food. Pet Doctor couldn't work us in as an established patient for four days. So when our dog didn't improve the next day we called back and they still couldn't find us an appt in a timely manner. So we went to UrgentVet in Oro Valley. (I can't say enough good things about that place). Our dog had contracted Valley Fever. Confirmed by blood test but she needed more labs drawn by Pet Doctor. UrgentVet can confirm the Valley Fever diagnosis but they don't do titres. So back to Pet Doctor we went for follow up care. At our appt and yes another new vet to see our dog. This one was more concerned about our dog's weight. A lecture that should have been postponed for a routine visit. I almost mentioned the vet's own weight problem but I behaved myself. I had previously discussed with the last Pet Doctor vet about having a rattlesnake venom vaccine. I called to check before our Pet Doctor visit and was told they didn't have any vaccine it was a licensing issue and Pet Doctor couldn't obtain any more doses. So I called our previous vet and they had vaccine doses available. They would be happy to administer the shot just call them when the time was best for our dog's condition. So in the visit I mentioned the rattlesnake venom asking the vet who had all the labs available when would be best to get our dog a rattlesnake vaccine shot (from our old vet)? I wasn't asking for her permission but she totally missed that point. She insisted on sending the vet tech off to check out the details. Which of course was confirmed they didn't have the vaccine dose available. Dr I Know Everything was unhappy. I knew at that very moment we would never be stepping foot inside their door again. So a vet practice never seeing the same vet twice is not ideal. The fact that when a sudden change in condition occurs they can't find an appt in a reasonable amount of time (for an established client) was problematic. The attitude and behavior of the female vet was the final straw. It cost them the client. It's a chain and if your pet is healthy and only sees them for routine visits it's workable. Surprisingly their prices are as high as a private vet practice so it's not economically advantageous to use this company. You're paying full price for the equivalent of a Big Box Vet service. If your pet has health problems find a private vet practice. read more

I'm so disappointed in Pet Doctor for selling out to a large corporation. It absolutely ruined this practice. We had no idea when we made an appointment for an annual checkup and vaccinations for our two dogs that the business was completely different. We first had to pay a $25 deposit for each dog when we made the appointment. Weird but ok. Our bill for checkups and vaccines was a total of $351 for both dogs, which is much higher than it used to be. We skipped nail trimming because the price went from $10 to $56 and we also skipped anal gland expression because the price tripled. We were planning to make an appointment for our male dog to get neutered but they quoted us a price of almost $500. No thanks. We will be going elsewhere for that and all our other veterinary needs from here on. They couldn't even manage to get the age of one of our dogs right, even though we had been bringing him there since he was a pup. They had him listed as 15 months instead of 6 1/2 years old. Even his original owner brought him there, so he's always been in their system. I will say that the vet was extraordinarily kind but the assistant wasn't helpful with our dogs AT ALL and the front desk staff seemed indifferent. If I could give this place 1,000 stars I would. They saved my cat's life! Dealing with foreign object obstruction with my kitten was a nightmare, PetDoctor always made me feel like I had someone there. I called Pet Doctor as an entirely new customer and luckily they were able to see me the same day. My 5 month old kitten had a fistful of foreign objects in her stomach and very quickly they helped me understand the situation. Dr.Garner, Dr.Bob and the whole team took such incredible care of my (very fiesty) kitten through X-Rays and surgery. Additionally, I had Covid during the entire ordeal and they took the proper precautions as well as consistently made me feel included and part of the process (even though I was stranded outside in my car.) I am also a college student and they always made sure to include me on the pricing and helped me find the most affordable options possible. Dr.Bob especially helped me out with this. I am so entirely grateful for them, their patience and expertise. You saved us! My matcha is happy, healthy and so am I. I owe it to the wonderful staff. I came to Pet Doctor to look into a possible teeth cleaning/removal for my senior pit bull, Zoey, but upon asking some additional questions about some of her behaviors, Dr. McWaters encouraged me to allow her to grab some blood work and run some tests. It turns out that Zoey's kidneys were acting up. Dr. McWaters sent us home with some antibiotics and a recommended diet change and has us come back in two weeks. Zoey perked up and gained several pounds by that visit, but her kidneys remained the same. We tried to antibiotics for two more weeks along with some supplements to see if there's be any change. Unfortunately, Zoey was unable to improve and her health began declining. We had to make the decision to say goodbye to her on 5/4/2023. Dr. McWaters was there once again to go through the process of euthanasia with us as well as a fabulous tech. Although Zoey has passed on, I am thankful to the Vet and staff of this location for giving me just a few more weeks with my beloved girl. Thank you all for everything that you do read more

First they went from walk ins, to making appointments only, to cutting back their hoursso much that you couldn't get in, now to making deposit for holding an appointment. I took time off work for this appointment. The night before the appointment they cancelled it because I didn't leave a deposit. They left a voicemail mid day the day before to make deposit by 5pm. I called at 5:05 because I was busy at work, they told me sorry, it's been cancelled. Nice! Nothing when booking online, nothing on email confirmation about deposit. Time to find a new vet. We used to love Pet Doctor: reasonable prices, provides almost all services, super close to us. The vets are great and still are...if you can get in with them. Like other reviewers, we have the same problem. It is impossible to reach them over the phone. Nobody ever picks up. The only way I have been able to make an appointment is to show up in person which I have now had to do multiple times. Nobody returns your phone calls. Nobody returns your online inquiries. When you are lucky enough to get an appointment, it is months out. My dog was due for his rabies vaccine and I wasn't able to get to Pet Doctor in time to do it so I had to go elsewhere. Made a mistake in my schedule and tried to calling to reschedule and of course nobody answered. When I went in person to try to correct my mistake, I was met with rude front staff that told me they were closed which is why they weren't answering the phone. I have been going to Pet Dr since 2015 but now I must find another vet clinic. I was patient through covid and gave them every chance but...I have 2 dogs who for the most part need basic care. They WERE good vets at affordable prices but in past year service is awful..Pet Dr has lost its ability to care for its patients and give timely appts. You cant even get through on the phone. I made vaccine appt for Jack a month ago and they call me tonite and left message to call back. So when I did call to reschedule March 23 appt she says it will be April 13! So now I will be waiting 45 days??!! They act like no big deal and on the phone she says. " oh someone already resheduled for you...your husband??" I said "no I live alone". I have been going to Pet Doctor the last five years and yes, they definitely have had some growing pains but they are trying their hardest to squeeze new and existing clients in. I recently took one of my dogs in, she suffers from allergies and she gets the Cytopoint injection and they were nice enough to squeeze my other dog in and give her one as well and the vaccines that she needed. The staff and the doctors are extremely knowledgeable courteous and polite. My two Shih Tzu's don't get scared at all walking in to their office. Nope. Fully agree with the other negative reviews. They were good but no longer satisfied with the service and trust their recommendations for procedures. We went in with an injury for our pet; they told us we needed a 1500.00 procedure to "relieve the pain" even though the pet would never walk right again. We opted against the operation and within a week the pet was up and around and acting almost back to normal. The 1500.00 operation would have re-traumatized the pet without making the overall issue any better. read more

This is a difficult review to write without tears. Last week, I went through the heartbreaking experience of saying goodbye to my beloved cat. Dr. Conley and the staff handled this so compassionately, sensitively, and thoughtfully. I SO appreciate what they did for us. I thought about having him euthanized at home. Called every home service in town and none were available until the next day (Saturday) and there would be no availability until Monday. They ranged from $225 - $400 a visit. That was out of my budget, especially since I had already spent $500+ for visits. I was just out of money. Pet Doctor charges $100 for euthanasia. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that my choice was to wait until Monday and have him suffer that long, if he would last until then, or have him put to sleep at a "cold" veterinarian's office--which was more cruel? So I arranged to have him put to sleep that afternoon here at Pet Doctor with Dr. Conley. Knowing that there there are no appointments and that you come in and sign up on the waiting list, and that the wait time would be around an hour at this point, I called and told them that my wife would come in to sign in and then I would bring in my cat because I did not want him to wait around in a cat carrier in the lobby the last hour of his life. The receptionist on the phone was very understanding and acknowledged my concerns and said that they were aware of the situation and that they would take him right in the first room that opened up without having to sign in on the wait list. We drove there and while I stayed in the car with my cat, my wife and daughter went in to tell them we were there. It was less than 5 minutes we had to wait and they brought us into a room. The technician first expressed her sincere condolences at our loss. She explained our options about cremation, etc. (We were going to bury him at home.) She then took our kitty into a different room to administer the catheter. This is a nice touch so that the owners do not have to watch this. She then brought him back in and told us that we could have as much time as we wanted with him and to knock on the door when we were ready. Another sensitive consideration. When the time came, Dr. Conley came in. Because of the way he was positioned, she asked us if we wanted to come around the table so that he could see us. Another sensitive consideration. She talked to him sweetly and then administered the injection through the catheter. I was shocked at how quickly he went to sleep, but very thankful. It was almost immediate. She cradled his head as he passed. Her entire treatment of the situation was sensitive and caring and she expressed her condolences at our loss. The technician came back in and asked if we wanted to take him home in a bag or a pee pee pad. Again, how considerate. We surmised that some people would want the bag because they or their children who might be present might think that a dead body was weird or difficult to deal with. We opted with the pad since we had the cat carrier with which to bring him home. The pad was to catch any bodily functions because death relaxes all the muscles. She then took his body and brought him back wrapped carefully in a pad. She also gave us a nice card stock with his paw prints on it. We know that they had to clean at least one of his paws and trim his claws to do that as he could no longer retract some of them. This was such a sweet thing to do. I found that this experience was as best as it could be for the situation. Our family is so thankful for Dr. Conley, the technician, and the receptionist at Pet Doctor for helping us to say goodbye to our Greybaby. They were kind, thoughtful, and sensitive every step of the way. read more

My pet has been a patient for several years, I was pleased with a quick response and appointment times. But I have to say, since January, I've been calling every other day. No one answers phone, I've left multiple voicemails, with no response. I had to choose another pet clinic, thankfully were accepting new pets. Sadly, we had to put her down, and guess what, that same day, Pet Doctor called! well it's too late, we had to put my pet down, cause her health was declining I'll never recommend the pet doctor to anyone. This is an update to my recent one star review. Last week (still under the care of Pet Doctor for bladder stones) I called the office first thing in the morning because I noticed my dog was having issues peeing and I could tell he was in pain. My vet was on vacation so I left a message to have one of the other vets to call me. The person that took this message was told that it's an emergency, I asked when she thought I would get a call back and she said after lunch. I asked her that if at all possible to have someone call ASAP because I was very worried that something was wrong. This receptionist has always been very rude and my last encounter with her I reported to the office manager Doreen and even told her that this front desk receptionist is a liability. The receptionist (Joana I believe is her name) never relaid the message as an emergency so almost a whole week has gone by and today the doctor called me in the evening. I'm actually grateful to Pet Doctors complete incompetence because that forced me to get multiple opinions and find another vet. My dogs breeder's vet (who lives abroad) reviewed the records and told me he does not see any stones and that the urinalysis contradicts the stone theory also. I also sent these same records to a family friend vet in Mexico City who echoed the same, that he didn't see any stones. I scheduled an urgent appointment with a vet that was recommended to me, they stayed after hours to do an ultrasound and their own evaluation, this vet confirmed that my dog does NOT have any stones and mentioned that surgery would NOT help, what he needs is to have his bladder flushed out because he has "sand" that hasn't turned into stones yet. We were able to schedule this procedure for the next day and now my dog is doing great. My vet will also be testing the sand to see what the cause is, so we can avoid any future issues. If this was a human this sort of care would be complete malpractice. I would not recommend anyone to take their pet here, I don't know how my dog was misdiagnosed unless it's the techs that are looking over all the lab results and x-rays. The office manager actually had the nerve to say that the special diet dissolved the 4 large stones that my dog was diagnosed with. In less than a month??? Maybe, except the fact that what the other three vets reviewed was the original records taken by pet doctor, so it was the same records that Dr. Ferrel used to diagnose the 4 large stones. And just to be certain I asked my new vet for an ultrasound, new x-Ray and a repeat of all lab work. Obviously this cost me a lot $$$ but now I have very detailed records and know that my dog is in excellent hands. read more

It saddens me to have write such a negative review. My dogs had been there since it first opened. However since Dr Nelson sold the business, I noticed how the place had changed. They don't answer the phone, and it has taken me several days of calling for someone to finally answer the phone. I had stayed because of the wonderful vet I did have there, but she left Pet Doctor rather recently. With 1 vet there they could not guarantee that my 15 year old dog (that has been there for years) when her time comes to cross the bridge they could be available. My dog had puppies there and trying to call to get any sort of answer is impossible. Leaving emails like the website says...no response. What's the point Of having a phone if you don't answer it ever or have it off. I have been taking my dogs to pet doctor for years. I recommended them to my friends because I always had a great experience. The past year I have been extremely disappointed with their staff. The 2 stars are for the veterinarians because they are nice. The front desk always says they are booked out for weeks and they are extremely rude about it, and in general. Earlier in the year my dog had an emergency during normal office hours and they said they were booked and they could not help me even though I've been taking him there for 5 years. They don't seem to care to lose a patient at all. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt but this is the 3rd time I found them to be careless. Maybe they have too much business but I will find elsewhere that cares. read more

Once upon a time this place used to be great! Those days are long gone- need an appointment? Good luck. Need them to answer the phone? Good luck. Need them to respond to an email? Good luck. Not to mention IF (huge if) you get someone to respond they are booked weeks out. We got a phone call canceling out appointment with the comment "sorry Dr. So and so is no longer a vet here and we are not accepting any more patients." Thanks for leaving us hanging. Do not recommend to bring your pet here !!!!! If I could give them negative 100 stars I would. My sister took out dog there , they got mad because they were in the room for a long time ( big red flag ) told my sister they would not help him till she paid. Which his toe was dangling from his paw !!! And they were gonna send him home like that !!! They put stitches in and that did nothing. Gave verry vague aftercare instructions after surgery. And were verry rude . Had to bring our dog to the amazing Pima animal clinic today to get paw looked at and for them to tell us he got bronchitis from this disgrace of a vet. Oh no...sad to write this review. On hold with them as I write this. 25 minutes and counting. This is my 5th phone call requesting Fluconazole, a valley fever prescription for my dog that was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and they have yet to call in the prescription per my request. WTF? I certainly can't call it in myself. The whole interaction this time was so bad from start to finish. The good side is that you can now take your pets inside and stay with them. The bad is that I don't think their counter people nor vet assistants have much of a longevity or knowledge. So bummed about this. 32 minutes now on hold...think I'll have to drive there. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE NEAR YOUR ANIMALS!! My sweet puppy girl Charlie went in for a routine spay here. When we picked her up that evening, we noticed her right eye was blood red in the corner. We didn't worry too much, thinking it was possibly from anesthesia. The next morning when she woke up, her entire eye had no white left and was completely blood red. I called Pet doctor and explained her symptoms and they asked for pictures. I sent them over by email and then called the office back. I was immediately put on hold for 15 minutes and was shocked to have the office manager answer my call and know exactly who I was. She very nonchalantly told me "oh yeah, Charlie hit her head and had a nose bleed during her intake because she couldn't be restrained" this information should have been given to us the second it happened and NEVER should an animal or human be put under anesthesia after a head injury. Charlie is 10 months old and the fact that a doctor of animals does not know how to handle a scared puppy is unacceptable. These people tried to hide this from us and it is inexcusable. I took Charlie immediately to Dove Mountain vet and they confirmed she had a severe head injury. I could have lost my puppy because I wasn't notified of her injury and made aware to watch for signs after a head injury that can be even more dangerous or deadly. This place only cares about the money and not your pet and what they did to my dog has forever traumatized me. They are the worst of mankind and don't deserve to care for even a rock. read more

I foster kittens with a local rescue so I'm here more than most. They are always busy but I like the first come, first serve policy. Appointments are required for surgeries which makes sense! Prices are quite reasonable and they do work with local rescue organizations to make sure that quality care is provided to those in need. read more
