I was recommended to see Dr. Rice by my brother after my dog, Boomie was diagnosed with a special condition. This entire clinic was very welcoming and very professional which is not a common thing these days. Dr. Rice was very gentle and patient with my dog who gets very anxious when at the vet. . He was also very patient with my million and one questions about this condition, that I don't know much about! It's been a long, stressful month with the new routine we have for my dog, who now requires special care. It was a breath of fresh air to find a vet that cares and doesn't try to run every unnecessary test possible, as a money grab. Even after I mentioned a couple of possible things, any other place would have immediately grabbed onto, just for the money. I have a 116 pound pit bull who is lets just say not to in love with strangers. He had been having some trouble with his leg and i was worried his hip was failing. The staff was compassionate and caring for a dude who just does not abide. They dis not hard sell any tests or food ar other crap that many vets will push on you they just provided great care. The poor guy needed to be sedated for his blood draw and x-rays and the staff took great care of him risking both life and limb ( or at least finger). It ABSOLUTELY shocks me that this location only has 2 stars!!!!! Either they got new staff or some peoples standards are ridiculously high. We originally went to an animal 'hospital' which was wonderful, but they wanted to charge an enormous amount to pull a tooth... so we called many many veterinarians, all weeks to months out for an appointment, even other ABC clinics. We called ABC CLINIC on Old Vail road and they were immediately kind, caring & concerned for my dog! They basically got me in within the week. I arrived at 7:30AM, staff was very cheerful & approachable. They explained everything we'd need to know, took our dog back and we left. Rachel called around 11:30AM letting us know that our fur baby is out of surgery which went great and she was in recovery. We picked her up around 3:30PM. (pick up time was between 3-4) They, again, explained what went on and what we need to do and watch for over the next few days. Dr. Rice stepped out and chatted with us for a few moments. It's extremely disappointing when you call and explain the situation and what your needs are for your pet and get reassured that they are willing and able to help you with what you were trying to accomplish just for them to do the exact opposite of what they said they would when you get there. I spoke to an employee there who said they understood and were able to assist and that if I had any problems I could talk to them but that person was not there and or nobody honored what was said I absolutely do not recommend this location and or the other location on Broadway for the simple fact that They both don't honor what they say if you were in the business of pet care you should really pay attention to the care part if I could give zero stars I would. read more

Dr. Rice and all the staff at the Vail location couldn't be better. I had four dogs, two of which needed routine bloodwork, monitoring and medication. And three cats. Recently, our big dog got valley fever. Dr. Rice was amazing with her. Unfortunately we lost her a month ago. During my cats dental work visit, the doctor discovered bone cancer in her jaw. He and I both being pragmatists, were able to have a frank discussion about her continued care. ABC has saved me thousands of dollars. I adopt things that otherwise wouldn't have homes. I'm so glad I found a vets office. I can't say enough about the clinic staff. They know my dogs personalities and my pups are always excited to see them. The staff working at the old Vail location is not very nice & the vet tech in the back would NOT cover my dog's head with a towel after I repeatatly told her that was the Only way it would work for my dog ... due to EXTREME anxiety ! Unfortunately she crapped all over her!! I'm a retired nurse , so I know a little about working with patients (dogs ) , she was too adamant about doing things her way, she got what she deserved if you ask me ! I called last minute hoping to get my dog Ginger on as she just wasn't feeling herself. I think they could tell I was in distress because at first I was told that they were booked but after hearing about how I had tried so many other places they said they would work me in. They Dont seem to be very compassionate here a procedure was done on our dog on a Wednesday later afternoon to take out foxtails he was sent home without medication and the next day he seemed worse than when we took him in we called early afternoon on Friday about 12 and asked if there was something that could be done for pain and antibiotics to avoid infection they said the vet was held up they would ask and We ended up calling again at 3:30 hopeful we would hear back before closing for the weekend at 5 and they said the vet was still busy well we never got a call back and now they are closed for the weekend and I am left with a dog in pain and now having to take him to the emergency room because the injury had since worsened and it looks so much worse and our dog wont even move Update: we have just finished with the ER vet and ABC pet Care left one of the foxtails behind in our dogs paw it began to abscess and travel which could have been lethal!!!!! our dog had to be sedated to be able to reach it and remove it and now will require more care than was needed before purely due to the negligence of this place I am requesting to speak with who ever is in charge of this facility this is not okay! This is an update to a previous review I would personally like to thank Tammy And Liz both ladies were wonderful and so apologetic and attentive about our situation even the owners did all they could to make it right we understand mistakes happen and just wanted to say thank you all so much for being kind and helpful and mending the situation for us! read more

I had to bring my small pup to get her teeth cleaned as an emergency and the staff at ABC went above and beyond in taking care of us. I usually take her to the clinic on Craycroft (also a great place) but I couldn't get an appointment within my strict time frame. Major shout out to Tammy the Clinic Manager who was incredibly accommodating with my panic (and my dog's) and my tight schedule. My poor baby ended up having more issues that went beyond her hereditary bad teeth and I'm so incredibly grateful for the staff here. I want to commend these people on how they treated my husband and I and our beloved pet. I brought him in for euthanasia and it was a very emotional and difficult time for me. Everyone there from the receptionist to the assistant and the vet treated us very gently and with respect. They were professional, caring and very aware of our needs. I have had to have a few pets put down but this was by far the easiest experience. The rates were very reasonable and they allowed us to be with my dog while they administered the medication. They were kind to my sweet dog and considerate of all of our needs. I highly recommend these people if you find yourself in this awful predicament. read more

I called to get my cat in for an appointment. He was having a hard time breathing. They got me in within a few hours. This was my first time at this office. The office staff was very kind and helpful. I filed out the paperwork in the car. A few minutes before my appointment, I walked in. They processed my information and moved us into a room right away. The vet looked him over and suggested an X-ray so she could see what was going on. They called me back in to discuss the X-ray. It wasn't good news. They said he may be in heart failure. They were nice and delivered the news with kindness. They suggested we take our cat to the animal hospital to get him some immediate relief and run more tests. They checked me out quickly and gave me info on where to go. I was crying the whole time. The staff was so wonderful. They kept saying sorry and they gave me Kleenex for my tears. They truly cared for me and my cat. It was a beautiful thing to experience and so appreciated. read more

I've gone to two of the other ABC locations before but needed a prescription refill and they wanted to see my dog before writing the new prescription, this was the only location they could get me in that week. The employees were nice enough but did not seem to believe me on why my dog needed the prescription. They took her into a room without me and when she was brought back she was stressed out (fast and hard panting, bloodshot eyes, avoiding the vet tech). In the end they gave me the prescription but also tried to tell me to change her diet to pedigree. It just left a bad taste in my mouth that they gave me such a hard time over the prescription, took my dog out of my sight and tried to recommend a food made of fillers and meat meal. read more

I've been going to the ABC vaccine clinic and always got amazing care from the vet and staff. My poor Stretch got sick and after taking him to the hospital and following up with a vet I chose ABC. So nice to meet a vet so enthusiastic, very intelligent, and a love for her job. The staff was so professional and caring. Made the most difficult time in my life a bit easier to cope with. The support I felt from the staff, vet & the love they gave to my sweet boy was truly amazing. Thank you all so much! The staff is amazing. I called to get my sick pup in they had no appointment at the time she took the time to take down my info and said if we get an opening I'll call you. No other vet offered that they just said try another place. She called me later and got us in that day. They all were super nice. We found out my pup has parvo I was absolutely devastated. They explained to me there is a treatment plan and that we caught it in time that she should be ok as long as we follow the treatment plan. They took the time and made sure I understood how to give my pup the iv and all her meds and even showed me by giving her her first round of meds. Day 2 and she is feeling better I know we still have a few days but with the quick reaction from ABC and there great staff I'm very optimistic.
