Betsy our elderly pup

Absolutely LOVE this vet clinic. Very sweet and knowledgeable workers here. During an extremely stressful time when my dog was bitten their treatment made us feel reassured and they are super through. Affordable compared to other vets we have been to. They go over prices before they do treatments and they don't judge you if you turn down any treatment. Our girl Betsy is all healed and back to her old self. We love Ajo vet and will continue to come here for our pets and always recommend our friends and family!!

I was in a huge dilemma. Needed to get my puppies Rabies shots and paperwork for our flight back home to California that afternoon. I called Ajo Vet's and they were able to squeeze me in that same morning! I had tried a couple of other vets in the area but due to covid everything was by appt only. I was so pressed for time & they were not only sweet and informative but they got everything done promptly. The cost was reasonable I think. paid $75. I'm a first time pet owner so I wasn't sure if that was a lot or if it was on the more affordable side but it seemed fair to me! :) Needless to say, were able to make it to the airport on time & got home safely. I even received a follow up email of the team checking up on my widdle baby! :) Thank you Ajo Vets!

We adopted Maxx from the Pima Animal Shelter and he came with a free check up to a vet of our choice from the list provided--I went down to the Ajo Clinic due to it's location. I was really happy with the staff-each and every person there was helpful and genuinely interested in Maxx. Some clinics I've been to in the past treat the animals like patients. Here I felt like we were family- everyone played with Maxx and gave him lots of attention, and even those in the waiting room were chatting and friendly with the animals. Good vibes and and good location for me- I'll continue to use them in the future.

He's now long retired and we needed someone to look at our cat. The once great place is great no more. There are signs all over the office warming you of penalty fees. Actually, you get your first warnings through texts reminding you of your appointment. I showed up, waited a long time, and the vet was professional. Annoyingly, though, my next visit started with a check-in during which they told me I was there for "x" operation and when I corrected them, they said, "Oops, that's right." Always a concern on operation day! The surgery was very expensive. After dropping off kitty I got a call trying to upsell me on a more complicated surgery and I stood firm. One week later I get a call. "unfortunately he has cancer." Well, my cat is female. Could the vet at least get that right? Before hanging up, it would have been nice to get an iota of sympathy, too. Dr. Shorr certainly would have said kind words. In a nutshell, I find this clinic very corporate now, impersonal despite the perky hello when you come through the door. It's probably a good place for people who have endless money and don't mind the cool treatment. I'll never go back.

We had been going to Dr Boyer for years and she was great, Dr. Mychajlonk is the direct opposite. I had not had a reason to visit Speedway Veterinary until last June when I was concerned about my dog. I called to set up an appointment and was told the best that could be done was to drop my dog off at 7:30 in the morning and Dr. Mychajlonk would exam him when she could and give me a call. Since I was concerned about Hugger (my dog) I agreed. I had not met Dr. Mychajlonk so I didn't know what to expect. When I brought Hugger in, I was presented with a bill of just under $1,000 that I was asked to approve (Dr. Mychajlonk had never seen Hugger before and at this point still hadn't) I declined but then the staff told me to leave Hugger anyway and the doctor would examine him and call me. I agreed to do that. When the doctor called there was a bad connection and I couldn't understand what the doctor was saying. When I told the doctor that she said that if I would pick up Hugger at 3 that afternoon she would talk with me then. When I showed up at 3 the nurse, not Dr. Mychajlonk met me and I was told that Hugger needed more tests and the cost would still be the figure I was given that morning. I've had animals for most of my life, I'm 85, and this is the first time I've ever had a vet give me a diagnosis for a pet BEFORE ever seeing the animal and have the exact same diagnosis after the exam. Final warning...look at the review's and you'll see that the vast majority are when Dr Boyer had the practice. Consider yourself warned.

I've had two very different experiences here. My initial…read moreexperience was great, however it was a few years ago. A different veterinary Dr. Recently, my senior dog had a bit of a health emergency. The young vet was brazenly arrogant, and my entire body felt anxious when dealing with her. She made a threat to report me and have him taken from me if I did not vaccinate him, prior to first checking to make sure he was ok. It was maddening. His immune system was already taxed and he's been rapidly going down hill since. She actually refused to give me any vaccine information and I believe in my soul she actually misled me to the type of vaccine he received. He nearly died a few days later. He was not a candidate. He needed care and attention, and instead was received coldly and cruelly. It was an absolutely disconnected and strange experience. It left my friend and I horrified. This place is a money hustle and their new young vet lacked kindness and empathy. It was a dark experience. We have since found a lovely vet to assist with his recovery, who is cordial and kind... and most of all puts us all at ease. Encanto, you may want to make sure your Vets actually like animals or can at least pretend to care about each animal without bias or judgement: I'd give this place a 0 for medical care, however, the front desk staff has always been kind and accommodating. Suggestion: perhaps don't make threats to a loving pet owner with a senior dog they love with their whole soul, in a crisis. Just start there. Integrity, transparency and decency go a long way in life and business.
