food was good, very slow and poor service, the waitress ignored us for most of our stay, and we had to remind her 2 times for the check after sitting for 20+ minutes. she also seemed to have nearly chased us after we left because we didn't give a tip she did NOT deserve read more

Good burgers, onion rings were fabulous. Staff was attentive and friendly. There were multiple items on the menu that sounded delicious. My husband and I will have to go back for sure. read more

JackJack's Diner - American Near Me - Moscow, Idaho

My wife and I have eaten here twice while on business in Moscow, both times for lunch and both times the food and service were spot on. They were very busy today but had enough staff to handle the rush. We will be back again! BTW if you like a good pastrami sandwich, this is your place!!! read more

Had a great dining experience! Cool atmosphere with an old but shiny throw back feel! Very clean, staff were amazing, menu great, food was very good! Hamburgers are like ones you make from home and they come with all kinds of different things like caramelized onions, thousand island, and yummo stuff! Onion rings and fries are great! There's a good kids menu. Milk shakes, Malts, and soft drinks served in the old style glasses and make the experience that much more fun! Music takes you back too! Great fun! Well done Varsity Diner and welcome to Moscow! read more

Food isn't bad, but it's over priced. Pies are runny, no real substance. Walk in to see managers and staff sitting. Food under booths. Saw manager with beard making milkshakes without gloves. Gross. Do the cooks wear gloves or do they touch everything without gloves too? Corner booth hubby and I sat in smelled like throw up. read more

This was such a great place to eat for Moms weekend. Service was impeccable, fun atmosphere and delicious food. The breakfast biscuit sandwich is served all day and simply ... amazing!! Dana was our server. She was friendly, well versed in food and desserts and excellent service. This will become a new staple when we come to Pullman read more

Plain Jane. Boring food. It tastes like it comes from a bag. I've eaten here on three separate occasions and each time I ordered something different. It's expensive for the quality of food. Save your stomach and your money, eat somewhere else! read more

I did not care for the food here. The sunny side up eggs were completely runny with the clear part of the egg totally uncooked on top. The service was not great either and we weren't taken care of for 15 mins after sitting down. read more

If you want a good honest review from a foodie please read: DISAPPOINTING!! I've came here before and did not have a good experience but gave it another try because I understand that it might of just been a one time thing. 4 of us went for late breakfast/lunch and was sat down right away. Was given the breakfast menu (super simple, not many options) and I wanted lunch so I asked for it and my server Lindsey tells me that I cannot order lunch. Remind you it's 5 minutes before lunch time. So I waited and asked another server for a lunch menu. Lindsey did not greet us or make us feel welcomed at all. I had to ask a different server for some more napkins. Then I had to flag down another server to ask if our food is coming out soon because at this point we've waited 30 minutes and watched two tables get sat after us and finish their food. Our server did not bother to check in on us not once or ask how we were doing. We were given our check halfway throughout our meal and felt like we were being rushed to get out. Lindsey was constantly looking around the corner to see if we were ready to pay. The food is not great it's just OK. Definitely not worth the money or another visit. If you're visiting the area and looking for a place to eat with your family, go somewhere else even if there is a wait because it will be worth it. Varsity Diner is my absolute last resort when dining out. read more

I come here often as it is within walking distance of my house. I usually choose non-peak hours so I can be seated quickly. My daughter enjoys getting the milkshakes and they also have a salad that is what you would expect to be served from a diner. The prices are a bit high; however, most restaurants in Moscow are on the expensive side. read more

Stopped in here for Breakfast last week. Worst coffee I've ever had! Granted i can handle strong coffee once creamer is added but bitter coffee after creamer is added is disappointing. I pointed out to the waitress I didn't care for the coffee. So she gets me another cup of the horrible stuff! On top of that i found a hair on my plate and stopped eating. The waitress turned from fairly nice to down right rude by rolling her eyes and saying. "Oh you didn't like that either". I do not recommend this place as the services stinks. There are other places to eat in this small college town. Maybe this place is just use to drunk college kids!!!! read more

We just found Varsity Diner & wow are we thrilled!! Wonderful food, all made in house. The Turkey dinner is incredibly tasty & enough for 2! My husband is crazy for the egg salad & fries! The manager George is personable, knowledgeable & the the entire staff friendly! Spotlessly clean. Thank you! Burl & Nealia read more

This is the third time I've eaten at this restaurant. I have to say it it might be my last. The service is very slow but the atmosphere is very nice. Food is mediocre. My iced tea tasted old and the soda we ordered was flat. read more

Great diner! My family was so excited to go to the new diner in town and the food did not disappoint. We were promptly seated by a very friendly hostess. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. The food was served pretty quick and it was delish. I had the western burger and fries with a strawberry shake on the side. The burger was juicy and fresh. The fries were fresh cut and amazing. I will definitely eat here again and I highly recommend it. read more

JackJack's Diner - Burger, shake and fry - American Near Me - Moscow, Idaho

Went in for breakfast and as one of my guests was stirring creamer into her coffee and pulled the spoon out of the cup, it had a long black hair wrapped around it. Her coffee cup was replaced and filled with fresh coffee. Then, after we were served our food my guest (the same one) pulled a long black hair out of the gravy that had been poured over her biscuits. Pointing it out to the staff she was offered a new breakfast item and her food comped. There were four of us at the table. Two other people had gravy on their entrees. I'm thinking the entire table could have been comped for the meal since the experience was pretty gross. Food wasn't bad, but all it takes is an experience like this to keep me from returning as well as sharing our experience with others by this review and word of mouth. read more

This is a very nice, clean, and friendly diner. I went in earlier tonight with my girlfriend for my birthday dinner. Since I grew up in Omaha I got the Rueben Sandwich. And I have to say that I have had a LOT of great Rueben sandwiches in my years , and this one wasn't terrible, but after a few bites all I couldn't think/say was, 'This is not a Rueben sandwich." It was more like just a corned beef sandwich with very little sauce and even smaller amount of sauerkraut. But the waiter was very nice and I enjoyed the atmosphere of this diner. I just think that next time I go to Varsity Diner I will order something else off of the menu. I would just recommend that the cook try something different with his Rueben sandwiches . read more

While this restaurant has a cool atmosphere and design, their food is subpar. I came here with friends and each of us ordered different things and all agreed that the food was below average. There was nothing spectacular about it, just your average, slightly bland food. The milkshakes however were great, and we did enjoy the restaurant theme! read more

Great food, good service. Classic diner experience with classic food and milkshakes. Definitely recommend going here!

Pretty good, not fantastic. The grilled cheese was fancy with the cheese but then it's on plain ol white bread. No big slices either. Fries were fresh but too thin and nothing to them. Pie however? This is why you come to this place. Don't mess around with the food. Get the PIE. Had the triple berry had huge fresh blackberries, blueberries and strawberries. Had mine cold, but they can heat and add real scooped ice cream if you like. Packed, noisy and small. Sit at the diner if you are alone for best service read more

Great burgers and fish and chips. I have not eaten much else. I really enjoy their bacon burgers, fries, and fish. They have good milkshakes and floats as well. The staff is friendly. It can be slow at times but I rather it slow with fresh cooked food than fast with food that has sat for hours. This is definitely better than McDonald's or some garbage like that and you pay only a few dollars more per person per meal. read more

Best food in town SCRATCH KITCHEN! Feel good food(food coma in a good way food!) the chefs are the best and the waitstaff never disappoints! You will NOT leave hungry! read more

I went here with my family for a classic American meal and was disappointed by the food poisoning that we all seemed to get afterwards. We didn't even all order the same food, but still all felt nauseous and were throwing up. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend...unless I hated them. read more

Good experience, first time here. The wait staff was attentive and on point. Food was really good and restaurant was clean. If I had one suggestion it would be don't skimp on the sauce. They put sauces to sandwiches on top but once you take that first bite your left with a toasted hoagie bun and meat but no sauce or flavor. I think if they spread a little on the bun for a taste with each bite it would be perfect. That being said the food was still great. I will return. read more

My daughter and I had been eyeing this place for a while and finally went in to dine. It was awesome. We had the Gobbler and The Club. I'm a club sandwich lover and this was one of the best I've ever tasted. The Gobbler was great too. The turkey is roasted in-house and it makes all the difference.y only regret is not getting a piece of pie to go. Def will be back. I've dined at most places around here and this place ranks among the best. read more

To be fair, they had just opened a week when we went. So I'm willing to try this place again if I start hearing good things about it. I'm not one to post bad reviews but I thought this place was pretty horrible even for soft opening. Fish was frozen and greasy. Burger wasn't that great either. Fries old. Service was lacking. No napkins or forks. Milkshakes took forever. For a diner, I expected the shakes to be better. And worst of all, they took down our name to be seated in 20 minutes and proceeded to seat someone else without even calling our name. We weren't the only ones that didn't get seated appropriately either. All other things I can forgive but the seating and napkin thing is restaurant management 101. Sad. Hopefully they get better!!! read more

The female server was sticking food in her mouth while she took our order.

Came here with family for a quick bite. My daughter is graduating at WSU tomorrow and recommended it. We ordered bacon cheeseburgers, Reuben sandwich BLT, and burger with fried egg. Also had onion rings. The onion rings were great. The sandwiches were all great except my Reuben had no dressing on it so it was s little dry. Service was excellent. Place was packed but we got seated right away and got our food quickly. Nice little place. read more

Had breakfast here. Food was good and larger portions. Service was good just a little eww slow. Will eat here again in the future

My husband and I tried the new diner tonight and it was well worth it! Even for a couple of vegetarians there were plenty of options! We each had chocolate shakes - yum! I had an egg salad sandwich and onion rings. The onion rings were the absolute, hands down best I've ever had! Sweet, soft onions on the inside, crispy deliciousness on the outside. So good I ate them plain! The egg salad tasted just like homemade. Hubby's grilled cheese was delicious and the fries were excellent! The ranch dressing tasted really fresh - must be made from scratch. We shared a piece of chocolate cream pie. As a pie maker myself, I'm really picky about pies. There's been no place in town I would buy a pie until now! I couldn't find a fault with it and can't wait to try all the other kinds! Hubby also got the Caesar salad. It was amazing! The lettuce was extremely fresh and the dressing was delicious! For all that food, (we had to take some home), the bill was only $35 before tip. We sat at the counter and enjoyed chatting with the servers. We got there just after 5:00 and there was no wait for the counter. This is a great, new place and we'll definitely be back!! read more

I love going to diners. And I really enjoyed trying out Varsity Diner. While visiting Moscow for a University visit my family and I decided to try dining at this wonderful place for a lunch break. I believe they serve breakfast up to 11am and we went at around 12:30pm. The waiter we had was awesome, he was very attentive and also had a wonderful sense of humor. The food was delicious as well. I had a a tuna melt, my sister had a salad, and my mum had an egg and cheese sandwich. I forgot to take pictures but they looked and tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes traditional diner foods such as sandwiches, burgers, salads, and shakes. I would love to go back again. read more

I don't know why their overall star rating is so low. This place was bomb. It was pretty busy all over town and their wait was far less than the other places that people recommended. The food was so good and the portions were twice the size I would have expected. I've been craving a good cinnamon roll for almost a year and none have met my standards. We shared one of their homemade cinnamon rolls and it was exactly what I was looking for. I would recommend ignoring the reviews and giving this place a try. read more

We went there today it is a good diner fast service it was a slow day but they do offer 20% discount to military which was awesome downside the prices are up there 10$ for a burger but it was nothing to rave about. My overall review high prices avg food but great discount and decent customer service read more

Had breakfast this morning. First time there. Last time there. Had Chicken-fried steak and eggs. Steak had country gravy with so much pepper that it burned the back of my throat. Ordered eggs over medium. Came over easy. Wife had bacon and eggs and the bacon was almost rubber. Breakfast cost $28. And that was with a 2.82 senior discount. Sent about 95% off the steak back. Wont ever be there again. read more

Plenty to eat with parking and staff that is willing to keep your coffee cup full! Easy to find because of its shinny outside!!

Eat here - it's great! Traveling through town on the way to somewhere else - we're from Seattle and admittedly fussy when it comes to food, but we love diners. This is the best type - new, clean, shiny and sans the tired 50's soundtrack. Sadly, so many diners these days are just coasting - and they're very dirty. Not the Varsity. The menu had a wide variety of choices, the prices are very reasonable, the service is attentive and friendly, and the food was fantastic. Be sure to try the onion rings - they're sweet and juicy. My tuna melt was just right and the BF raved about his buffalo chicken sandwich. read more

The only downside is the hours of business. Jan one of the waitresses is so friendly and kind to the customers, she really gives it a family vibe. Everytime we have visited the food and service has been great!!! read more

The food was awful! Our pancakes were completely raw in the middle, the gravy was from a can, and nothing tasted fresh. So bummed since it's really a cute restaurant. read more

The place obviously is pretty cool inside and out. The staff was friendly and I was taken care of very well. I'm not very into their menu though. It's typical food you'd expect at a diner like sandwiches, burgers, and shakes. The problem isn't with the type of food it's the quality of taste that doesn't stand out to me. Everything is very bland. read more

Our first visit found a friendly and speedy staff. The food was classic diner fare - open face hot meatloaf sandwich and the daily special Fried Pork Schnitzel. Served up hot and fast, savory and plentiful. It has an upbeat ambiance that has the waiter singing and dancing. Love!!! read more
