The food is really good. Call and get a reservation, my wife and I wanted to eat here and were so determined we sat at the bar for our dinner and sat next to a chain smoking couple for the first 20 minutes (very friendly people though). I'm unsure if the restaurant is smoking/non-smoking. The service must have had an off night. The bar area was packed and the one bartender did her best to provide great service, the service fell short though. We did not get the appetizers we ordered, our entrees were terrific when they came. My wife was deligthed with the filet she ordered. She said it was the best one she ever had. I had the perch which my chain smoking friends told me about prior to their departure. It was delicious but when I got home later that night I was sick for over an hour. We would go back if we had reservations. Gorgeous views of Lake Michigan from the dining area. read more

The seafood tower is an absolute must. Very nice views and excellent service in this wonderful place. The steaks are all delicious and the sides are plentiful for 4. Everything is a la carte, so it does get a bit pricey, but the food is certainly worth it. They have an excellent selection of wine and a nice little cigar humidor with your choice of just about every nice cigar imaginable. My personal favorite steak is the tomahawk which admittedly is pricey, but totally worth it. There is a mixture of people in there as many receive comps from gambling, so while many are dressed very formally, there are others who are more casual. This place has quickly become a personal favorite in just three visits. read more

This is a very nice and elegant spot to have dinner. Great customer service. I ordered a rib-eye it was cooked perfectly. Beautiful lake scenery. read more

I've lived in Northwest Indiana for over 30 years, and no restaurant in the "Region" can compare to Jack Binions. They serve Chicago quality cuts of beef with awesome service and an incredible view. Sure it's a bit expensive if you don't have a comp, but it's priced no higher than the finer steakhouses in the city. The view of Lake Michigan is incredible. Service is very attentive from the bussers to the servers. The bar pours generous drinks and the wine list is outstanding. Try the new Vintage 51 wine. One of the nicest Cabernet's you ever taste at a give away price. They serve a 21 menu from 4-6 Monday to Thursday. It includes a salad, entee' side and dessert for $21. It's an outstanding value if you like to dine early. Manager Dan has has great team who will make your dining experience memorable. read more

This is the 2nd time we've stopped here, the 1st time during restaurant week when they have special prix fixe meals and then again last night because we had some certificates to use. There weren't many patrons but it was Good Friday and it's a steakhouse and it was a little early for the gambling crowd. The complimentary bread was delicious. We started off with fried calamari ($10), the portion size generous and very well cooked. I ordered the prime rib, an enormouse 16 oz cut ($26). Steaks are served a la carte so be sure to order sides if you want them, we got the garlic, rosemary fries ($6). We didn't read our $50 certificates carefully, only food was covered so we were actually $26 under our total when the bill came so we called the waitress back over and got three desserts to go ($9). The desserts were good but a little skimpy for $9, at least the key lime pie was. The cheesecake was a good size portion for two but nothing extraordinary. Cocktails at $10 were reasonable considering you pay a lot more in Chicago for the same or smaller drink. The view is great if you get a window table overlooking the marina. One view is of the refineries, I think if you are seated on the other side you should be able to see the Chicago skyline. Service was attentive. For those of us in Northwest Indiana this is a great alternative to going downtown, paying to park, giving the tollway $7 for the privilege of using the Skyway and having to drive 55 because of the speed traps, not to mention paying higher prices downtown. I can't remember the last time I got out of Morton's, Joe's etc with a food tab of less than $100. read more

Old school steakhouse with old school policies. A gentleman can actually light a cigar in the main dinning room (yes smoking section in main dinning room) or bar at this establishment.................state of the art ventilation system...............you see people smoking, but, its not offensive. Never have been disappointed at Binion's steakhouse. Great food, great service..........top notch bar tenders. Class joint! OH, most importantly...........no children. 21+ only. read more

We had reservations at 7 for two on a Friday night before a concert. They were able to seat us early which we thought was great! We then managed to sit for 15 minutes until our waiter even said hello to us. 30 minutes before we got our drinks. We also made it very clear we were there to see a show at 8 so needed to be out in time. After an hour and ten minutes we still didn't have our dinner. We had to cancel our food and leave without dinner! I asked to see a manager and the manager didn't even come it our table. I was completely disgusted with the level of service we received. It was disrespectful and just awful. I have never been to a restaurant where I actually had to cancel my order after so long because nothing came out. Would NOT recommend this place. Unfortunately the food options at the Horseshoe are quite awful. read more

The food was mediocre for the high prices they charge you they mess my steak up twice service was lacking. It took me over 3 hours to leave from the service to the time they had to keep sending my steak back read more

Went here on a nice night out and it definitely fit the bill. The menu had whatever I would expect at a steakhouse. This is a really great looking place, and the service was top notch. There was a minor mistake forgetting the GF's side dish but that was quickly corrected. We started our order with the Lobster bisque, which was the best I've had so far ,great, but I have only had it a handful of times. The Tuna tartare was very good, with hints of spicy mayo really adding to the dish. The blue point oysters were great, some of the best oysters I've eaten. As my entree I ordered the prime rib, a personal favorite, and I found it very good and among the best I've tried so far. My date ordered the perch, which I thought was good but fairly ordinary. The asparagus on the side was perfect, great. Sadly, I couldn't do desert because I couldn't fit in another morsel of food with a crowbar. I would readily come back here for a special occasion or whenever I had the bucks to afford a fancy ass night out. read more

Made reservations. Went in. Ate good! Nice place! Great view of Lake Michigan! Actually realized that this is the exact same quality served at Vegas hotels at the same prices. Kinda like an overlooked indulgence that only those into fine dining would appreciate. read more

My wife and I visited Jack Binion's Steak house during our visit to the Horseshoe Casino last night. The friendly hostess, Melissa, led us to a wonderful table overlooking Lake Michigan. This was not our first time dining here, but we saw quickly that their menu had changed. Our server Carmen was quick to take our order. My wife ordered her usual filet mignon, and decided to try the new pork belly Mac n' cheese. I was intrigued, so I chose the Hot Honey Fried Chicken. I am not in a habit of ordering chicken in a nice restaurant, and would think it almost absurd to ask for it at a steakhouse, yet here we are. We opted not to order appetizers or drinks, so we nursed our waters until our order arrived. My wife's steak looked wonderful and was cooked perfectly. The pork belly mac' n cheese was a nice departure from the lobster version seen everywhere these days. My plate was set in front of me. It did not look like any fried chicken I have seen. As my fork pierced the skin it made an appealing CRUNCH. This chicken was very crispy on the outside yet insanely moist. I do not think it had any breading, so I was surprised at the beautiful crunchy skin. The chicken was served with chile-infused honey on the side, which after tasting, poured it all over my entre. It also came with smoked blue cheese mashed potatoes and fresh cut corn, which paired wonderfully with the chicken. I informed our server Carmen, that this had to be one of the best meals I had ever eaten. She must have told the chef, because Chef Patrick came out to our table within minutes. He was very gracious and thanked us for our compliments. I now will be more open to other menu options at a steak house, but when I return to Jack Binion's, I already have my order ready!! read more

Loved it here gorgeous dining area with beautiful view of Lake Michigan. Started the meal with a nice bread basket with assorted rolls cheese and butter. Had the best crab cake I've ever eating in my freaking life as the appetizer, and the main course was a tender steak that sliced like butter and a baked potato. read more

Really not sure how such a high standard steakhouse can get away with telling you to wait an hour for a table and then when you go back decide they can't seat your party. This was supposed to bey daughters birthday meal and we were told they couldn't seat us . They had our number and could of called . I'm never going back to a place that can't seat me because I'm not a card holder. read more

When I was planning my 30th birthday dinner I just knew I needed to go here to celebrate. Upon our arrival, our group was placed in the private chefs room and there were menus printed up specially for me. Within moments of arriving our server Diane greeted us and was nothing but friendly and professional. The food was excellent! I'm a little bit of a steak snob and my filet was perfectly cooked medium rare. Portion wise: you definitely get your money's worth. After our meal I had the opportunity to speak with Chef Mike and tell him what a wonderful job the kitchen did. He was also very friendly and personable! I will definitely be coming back soon! read more

Great service, wonderful view and the food is amazing. The portions are huge; we ordered the Artichoke app and it could have feed 4-6 people. The sides are also large and easily share between two or more. Great wine list. read more

The Midwest does steak well! We were seated at a window table, and the sun was just beginning to go down. We had a fantastic view of the Chicago skyline. The entire staff was very nice and friendly. Scott was our waiter, and he was great. Once we got settled, we were brought a basket of assorted breads and spreads. The wine-chedder spread was especially tasty. We started with the wagyu sliders and the squash soup. Both excellent. The sliders were very tasty!! We also ordered a seasonal plate that had foie gras and lobster. It was a strange combo and preparation, but it was still pretty delicious. The entree steaks were grilled to perfection. And we complemented with the rosemary fries. We were honestly too full for dessert but managed to share and finish a slice of carrot cake. All in all, a fantastic meal! read more

A friend and I came to this cozy steakhouse and were seated by the window with a view of the marina and Chicago's beautiful skyline. We were served a variety of warm bread that was delicious. Our entrees were huge so we probably didn't need the scrumptious side of Brussels sprouts. The steak was tender and juicy and my salmon filet was a double portion. We couldn't help but finish all of it. I'll be back in less then a week and I can't wait. Our server was polite as well as all of the staff. read more

I meant to write this review quite awhile ago so it will be short and I promise to update on a return visit. We occasionally visit Horseshoe Casino when we are in between Vegas visits and need a little casino fix. We ALWAYS dine at the finer restaurants in these type of casinos and I will say that Jack Binion's was one of the better choices. We had steak and lobster and it was pretty darn close to perfection. I remember the salads and sides were comparable to Ruth Chris, Morton's, etc. - good but not remarkable. The service was extremely nice and the wine selection exceeded my expectations. The star here is the steak and the lobster was also very, very nice. We will be dining here again on our next visit to Horseshoe. read more

This experience was like having your head in the oven and your feet in the freezer: on average, you're ok. It started with reservations made weeks prior for the evening of the Jeff Dunham show (9/24/2011). We came right on-time but were told 5 more minutes. Then it was 15 more. Then another 15. *40* minutes later we were seated, with a bit over an hour before the show. We saw that we couldn't order appetizers and just ordered our meals. The food was probably ok, but that's because we couldn't taste as fast as we were wolfing it down! Our waitress was nice, but she is neither the front of the house nor a chef; she did her best. The free desserts we couldn't finish didn't make-up for the all the lost time!!! read more

The reason why I gave it a 2 was because the service was very good and the view is fun! The wine list rests on its old Wine Spectator review laurels, which didn't even list bottle sizes or years with wines priced almost four times retail in some cases. The crab cake was nice, as well as the French onion soup but the bread basket had to have been recycled from yesterday. As for the steaks , they had a grey hue and were sub par, you are going to get a better steak at Outback. read more

For what you pay...... Better luck in casino. Medium filet with charcoal crust. Service was good though. More like Jack Bunion's.

I had the pleasure of eating at Jack Binion's for my 21st birthday and the service was spectacular!!! Our server Ellen was very nice and polite and I would highly recommend requesting her to serve you, if you were to dine there. A GREAT STEAK HOUSE! read more

We went to the Horseshoe Casino for a show and decided to eat at the steakhouse since there aren't really too many options for a nice meal in Hammond. We had a reservation for 6:00 but arrived by 5:30 and were seated promptly. The restaurant has a nice, old men's club sort of feel to it. It's somewhat dark, but light enough to read the menus (if you need that like I do), with a lot of dark wood on the walls and ceiling. The chairs are very comfortable but a little low for the table - this is important to a person who's 5'4", but my 5'10" boyfriend also felt a bit short. I was surprised at the selection of wines. There was more than enough options by the glass, so I didn't feel like I was settling. We both started with a house salad. I had the blue cheese dressing and my boyfriend had thousand island. We both felt that the dressings were lacking any real flavor. I order blue cheese dressing because I like blue cheese and I expect to taste it in the dressing. For my entree, I ordered the special - blackened grouper with sauteed spinach and sun-dried tomatoes. Although the grouper was tasty, there was nothing about it that I would call blackened. The color was brown, not black, and the intense flavor of the blackening spices wasn't there. Again, it was good, but tasted more like a pan sauteed grouper rather than a blackened grouper. The spinach was excellent. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib, end cut. He really enjoyed his entree. However, the lighting was such that it was difficult to see what he was eating. Prime rib is a fatty cut of meat and, unless you like the taste and texture of fat, you need to be able to see what you're about to put into your mouth. The steaks are ala carte, and he didn't order a side. Why do restaurants always make the ala carte side dishes so large? He didn't want to eat a serving of veg. that was intended for 2, so he didn't order anything. All in all, I would eat there again. The total bill for 2 house salads, 2 entrees, and 3 glasses of wine was $104. (As a side note, when we left the restaurant around 7:00, the place was packed and there were about 20 people waiting for a seat. Definitely make a reservation if you plan to eat before a show.) read more

The overall experience was great! We were attending a show afterwards so there was a time issue. Was seated an hour after our reservation so we were a bit late for the show. But..I have to say the food and service once we got in the dining room was worth it! This wasn't our first time so we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed! read more

Fabulous views of Lake Michigan greet you as well as a very cheerful staff. Clubby look with wood all around seems perfect for a steak house. The wine selections were limited this night as the list was being turned over. They didn't have the wine we wanted but offered us a greatly reduced price on an expensive bottle. A nice touch. Assorted breads were brought to the table, all very good. French onion soup wasweld presented but salty. Downtown prices i would say. I got a perfectly prepared 8 oz. petite filet for $32. Cocktails are $14/16 but generous. Crispy not greasy fried calamari came with some fried pepper rings. Good. Ala carte menu runs up the bill quickly, but, all portions are large. Smoking and non-smoking sections available...this is, after all, Indiana. read more

Okay, so I am in Chicago on business but live in Houston, TX. This weekend, my wife and I were looking for something to do and wound up at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond. While there, we signed up for a player rewards card and by doing this we were able to swipe the card for a prize. To our good fortune my wife won a steak dinner for two from the steakhouse worth $120. When we first went up we were informed that they were full and the earliest they could seat us would be 9pm. This was about 1 1/2 hours from the time we arrived. I think this had less to do with being full and more to do with them wanting us to gamble longer in the casino before getting a free meal but for this review let's assume they were full. The initial contact between us and the restaurant staff was cold and a little arrogant on their part but once seated our waitress was very good and provided excellent service. We started with a crab cake that was fantastic! Chunks of delicious crab meat and very little filler - very light and a great starter. For our entree's we both decided to go with a 12 oz. filet mignon aged 27 days. The beef was cooked to perfection with a beautiful pink center and it melted in your mouth. The cut was as good as the flavor measuring about 5 inches thick. I went with the baked potato which was huge and served with sides of shredded cheese, butter, sour cream, and freshly cooked bacon pieces. The portions were huge and we decided to take some home with us to allow room for desert. We finished our meal with a piece of cheese cake topped with fresh raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. We decided to share a piece because of how full we already were. When it arrived our waitress had already split the piece and if I didn't know better I would swear it was a full piece for each. All-in-all I would give this steakhouse a 4 out of 5 stars for atmosphere and friendliness and a 5 out of 5 for food quality. I would definitely recommend you give it a try if you love a good steak and find yourself in Hammond. Thanks to our gift certificate our entire meal for two came to a whopping $7 before gratuity. I hope this review helped any of you who are considering a visit to The Horseshoe! read more

Went last Sunday after a profitable trip in the casino :-) Had the 32oz Porterhouse along with a baked potato and button mushrooms. The sides were really good and big enough to share with someone else. The steak for $60 was a little overpriced for what you got but was still tasty. Service was excellent and I'm sure the view would have been nice had it not been a cloudy day/night. Being able to use Total Rewards credits at "one for one" is a big plus, looking forward to going back. read more

Service was terrible. Paper overlay covers on the tables (really), waiter who could not be heard or understood, had to ask for refill on water, where's the coffee?, menu print in miniature, desserts were simple and tasteless. They actually served a cake on a stick (like the ones I got for Christmas 2 years ago) which added additional insult to injury. High priced menu for poor dining experience. Steak was tender but flavorless with a pad of butter on top. Yuck. Simplistic and obscene casino buffet mentality-load on the fat and salt to push the booze and gambling. read more

Hello, FOOD SNOB HERE. This is a hard one to critique. When walking in you think you were in a elegant downtown Chicago restaurant. It is elegant, the two male matrides at the front are very welcoming. The view of Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago were romantic. The foie gras appetizer was a little over priced at $18. Yes foie gras is expensive but I mean it was two bites on toast. I had the fried calamri that was OK but not as good as an Italian place. The soup was FANTASTIC. French Onion with cheese melting over the top. Lobster Bisque tasted so fresh. I just had one problem with the side dishes. They are TOO BIG. They shoud lower the price and give you less because nobody can finish. Also the asparugus side was bland and not fully cooked and not trimmed as should be. The lobster macaroni and cheese was a little to rich for me. This all seemed more like comfort food. I give this 4 stars because of the atmosphere, and all the steaks are top of the line even though a little more expensive then they should be. read more

Horrible drink Moscow mule served with flat beer in it, calamari was texture of rubberband and Mac and cheese tasted microwaved and like it came out of a box from Aldi avoid this place no matter what unless you are hypoglycemic and you have to eat here in an emergency. i've been to a lot of the famous steakhouses in chicago and yet i think jack binion's is my favorite. now usually i love sides, jb's doesn't do a great job with sides. the truffle fries aren't that impressive. it's all about the steaks here. the bone in rib eye for 35 or 40 is to die for! i've tried the wagyu sampler and it was truly a different level of meat eating. morton's, joe's stone crab, smith and welensky all of those rib eyes are good, but kind of blend in my mind. the bone in rib eye here is simply out of this world. i've had the oysters here and i thought they were a rip off. i don't give out 5 stars easily, and this place doesn't knock it out of the park for everything, but the steak makes up for it. skip the sides. skip desert. just get more steak! read more

My hubby and I were pleasantly surprised by this place. We were seated right by the window. A perfect view of lake Michigan. It was our anniversary, this was a nice touch. We had a wonderful waitress. I think her name was Diane. She is just the kind of waitress you want in a fine dining rstaurant. Now keep in mind this is not a cheap restaurant so I do think customer service is just as important as the food itself. Some of you yelpers may agree it can be a deal breaker. Now onto the food. They start you off with this nice size platter of assorted breads, crackers, whipped butter and a cheese spread my husband loved. We ordered the fried calamari for an app. It was good, not the best I've ever had but still good. I will say the balsamic vinegrette on the salad was awesome. I ordered a salmon with a mustard sauce. It was so good. My hubby had the fillet ,he loved it. We each had a baked potato. These are perhaps the largest baked potatoes I have ever seen. They give you all the fixings on the side. This includes real bacon bits and cheddar cheese! We were stuffed. Our waitress then surprised us by bringing out a very large piece of their cheesecake, she even had them write happy anniversary in chocolate on the plate! We were already stuffed so we force fed ourselves a few bites each. It was sooo good! I'm not sure what the bill was, he wouldn't tell me but it was well worth it. This place is located inside the Horseshoe casino building. So if you're feeling lucky go do a little gambling while you're there. read more

Save your time and money and go somewhere else! My husband and I had a gift card for Jack Binions, so we thought we would try it; however, the service was terrible and couldn't save the somewhat decent meal. Our meal took a total of three hours from start to finish, and that was not on our part. From the moment we sat down our waitress seemed distracted and was rude. It took her fifteen minutes to deliver the wine menu and another fifteen to bring the bottle. The rest of the meal delivery continued on this slow pace. I ordered the shrimp cocktail to start. It was a large portion, and while it tasted okay, it smelled very "fishy". The filets were cooked perfectly, although my side of bernaise sauce was ice cold. When I told the waitress she was extremely rude and told me that was how all restaurants served it - not true - and would not correct the issue. Finally when it came time to pay, she ran the check incorrectly and had to go back and fix it after she had already delivered it to us. When I asked her about it, she was very rude and told me she had given me the wrong check to start and didn't apologize. Overall, I would say I'm extremely disappointed with this place! Save your money and try Mastros in the city. The food and service are impeccable, unlike this place. read more

If you happen to be stuck at the Horseshoe in Hammond Indiana, this is the best restaurant to go to. Since I was so close to New England, I had to get lobster bisque. This is one of my favorite soups. Theirs was about a 7 out of 10 on my lobster bisque scale (based on the bell curve so may vary compared to your tastes buds). I couldn't decide on steak so I got the signature steak tasting plate. It included Nebraska USDA Prime Grade Spinalis (its the top part of a pot roast and looks like skirt steak), American Wagyu "Eye" of Rib and Japanese "A-5" "Eye" of Rib (A-5 from what I've learned is the highest grade of Kobe beef). The American wagyu was my favorite. I always get my steak cooked medium well so it always comes burnt (the burnt parts are really unhealthy for you, like cancer causing unhealthy). So after I cut off all the black part there wasn't too much steak left. All the desserts were standard so I didn't get any. It was an alright dinner. www.anitaeat.com read more
