Jack Allen's is a restaurant you always get delicious food! There are always specials and if you don't see anything on the menu that fancies your cravings, there is always soup of the day. The service is usually exceptional, however there are times when it is a little slower but understand that is the exception. The restaurant always looks clean and organized. It breathes farm fresh.

Took the family to Jack Allens Kitchen in Hutto, one of my favorite places to dine. Very nice restaurant with convenient parking in the garage next door. It is located in Hutto just off of Highway 79 by the silo. We arrived at 5:30 for an early dinner and although the restaurant was not busy, we had to wait for a table. We were then seated in a booth and greeted by our waiter, who provided menus and took our drink orders. I ordered my favorite, which is the sweet chili shrimp asian noodle salad. It includes sautéed shrimp, spinach, cold, Asian noodles, shaved, red, onions, cherry tomatoes, avocado, toasted almonds, with a creamy sweet chili dressing. It is delicious. Highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a nice seafood salad. Service was not up to standard this visit. My grandson asked for a water to go with his Coke and buttermilk dressing for his burger, but we had to request them twice before the waiter brought them. Jack Allen's kitchen is the best restaurant in the Round Rock/Hutto area. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out on a fine dining experience.

I went with a large group And the staff was so kind and patient. We went on a Friday night so you can imagine how busy it was, but they made it feel like we were the most important. We ordered appetizers, drinks, and entrees. The jalapeño cornbread was delicious and a great shareable! The chips and guacamole are also a good option, especially for a large group. The mocktails were pretty good as well. For dinner I had the blacken shrimp enchiladas and it did not disappoint. It is so filling and if you want you could take a good portion home. I had a really great experience and would definitely return. Get there early because it a local favorite

Jack Allen's is always great. They have unique recipes and they have always been delicious each time I have visited. The service is always great. This is a great pick for a date night or family dinner. They do have a kids menu. I like the twisted cobb salad. You really can't go wrong with this place. You might want to make a reservation because they do get busy in the evenings.

I have been a fan of Jack. Allen's restaurants since the beginning. I've truly never had better, more consistent service anywhere else I have ever gone. These folks really know how to do service exceptionally well. For our anniversary, the staff even signed a card for us and had a gift waiting as well! Food is also so very delicious. Consistently. I've tried so many different things on the menu. Their pimento cheese is hands-down my favorite and really the only that I eat. Their chicken fried chicken with that delicious gravy is definitely worth a go. My longtime favorite has always been there chorizo stuffed medallions. Holy moly. I love the farm to table concept and how it supports communities near ours. I always feel good about being a patron at this restaurant and it's easy to do with such great service and amazing food.

You just can't go wrong coming here. We came in here from work, my entire department and enjoyed great food, laughs, and delicious deserts. The service is always great! And the oracle itself is inviting and great for intimate gatherings or group ones like ours. Some of the people never had been to this location as they came from Dallas. They all want to come back next time. I'm glad we have locations close by and we're able to enjoy some good outtings. For happy hours there's always a special and their drinks are great!

I've lived in the Austin metro area for many years but had yet to try Jack Allen's Kitchen. I was surprised by how fresh and affordable everything was. The ambiance felt very warm and inviting. Our server (can't remember his name unfortunately) was very helpful in recommending items on the menu. Things we had: Jalapeño Crab dip: So good!! We shared one order between 3 people and wish we had more, so something to consider if you're a larger party. Pimiento Cheese: it was our first time so our waiter brought us a sample of this and I really liked it! It was creamy and flavorful. 13 spiced chicken pasta: overall, this dish was okay. The sauce was absolutely delicious and the chicken was grilled to perfection. However, their noodles (red pepper and spinach linguine) kind of had an odd taste. I will say it got better as I ate more (maybe my taste buds were adjusting?) but I would likely not get this again unless they offered regular linguine as a substitute. Fried pork chop: my husband really enjoyed this meal. I stole a few of his sweet potato fries and those might have been the best sweet potato fries I've ever had! We also tried their frozen margarita (as apart of their all day happy hour on Mondays) - they were really good and strong! I would definitely come back and likely try some other items I had my eye on.

Is it possible to post too many reviews of the same place? Nah. We love bringing out of town guests to our favorite local spot. Always enjoy our favorites and sampling a little bit of everyone's dishes to see what else we need to add to the rotation. Service is always impeccable, clean, lively environment, fabulous food with Texas flare!

On our way to South Padre, decided to stop in Round Rock to visit Jack Allens Kitchen for lunch. I ordered the Killer Cheeseburger which was a half pound monster of meat and cheese which was delicious. The side of sweet potatoes was also generous and very good. Service was outstanding and the interior was warm and inviting. Would definitely stop by again if I was in the area!

Went for my birthday, but have returned a few times since then. The spinach ravioli is my go to, but their hamburgers and chicken sandwhich are also good options. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming and they give you free dessert on your birthday. The dessert did not disappoint! The bread was probably the best part of the meal, I would go back just for the bread. Overall great restaurant and usually they are able to get you seated fast, food also comes out quickly!

    Steak and Eggs

Jack Allen's is one of my favorite places to dine. I have been to 3 different ones here in the greater Austin area and all are wonderful. The service is really good. Sometimes you may need to wait, however the time they tell you is pretty accurate. Today was really good. No waiting and our server was excellent. The interior is inviting and clean. I always look over the menu and order a few different items. If I can't decide I will get the soup and salad...it never disappoints. Today, I ordered the Steak and Eggs. Another excellent meal. There was plenty of flank steak spiced just right and covered with cheese. The Enchilada was easy to cut and the eggs were done as I asked. Usually, I never order dessert, but today it sounded good. I had a Berry Cobbler with ice cream. The Cobbler was still hot when it arrived and was done with perfection. It was quite large and I shared it with my dinner mate. So if I said it before, alI'll say it again...visit Jack Allen's in Round Rock, Cedar Park or North Austin and enjoy a very good meal!

That is frequently not the case in Bryan or College Station. My food was not great. I had a brisket queso. The dish was not well designed. The brisket was lovely - but it all stuck together in one piece. The chips were conspicuously too thin for even for salsa. I couldn't pick up my queso with my cheap superthin chips. Not being able to pick up one's food defeats the purpose of providing chips in the first place. Not that I was missing any kind of big treat. The queso itself didn't taste like much. On TV, two out of the three channels were Cotton Patch's own advertising-itself TV, The landscapes were all standard Texas Highway Department "Texas-Is-a-Lovely-Place-To-Visit-Right-Now". I think Chicken…read moreFried Steak is an item that has kept the people of the Southern United States together regardless of interests, jobs, intelligence, and opinions. It is a unifying meal of blue-collared and white-collared people alike. It is a food that unifies the vast cultures of the south. There is no debate when there is a Chicken Fried Steak. Soul food and southern food are so severely important to people who were raised in the south because the overall feeling of those cuisines is that it feels like their Grandma is cooking dinner. Now if you look at my Yelp profile picture for a fraction of a second and maybe stereotype a little, you can accurately assume that my Grandma's cooking would fit in the latter and you would maybe wonder if my grandmother knows what seasoning is. If you have had her chili, you would say no. The famous Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in Hutto is a classic Southern diner that is always a perfect pick-me-up meal and is a truest staple of the area. When I first visited Hutto before moving I looked for places to try, and the abundant and sheer quantity of reviews for Texan Cafe made it clear that I had to try it. That was just over a year ago, and I still remember parking my car in the lot across the street and walking into the cozy diner with wood chairs and booths, red tablecloths, and so much decor on the walls it might be a museum, and I felt right about moving to Hutto. I was seated immediately and almost instantly ordered the Chicken Fried Steak smothered with white gravy, of course, with sides of Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes. It was not long before the beautiful plate hit my table, and I destroyed everything on that plate. When I thought it was over, I was handed the dessert menu that was two full rows worth of pie and other options. I was mesmerized by the length of it and was overwhelmed by the options. I texted my parents to tell them and suddenly I was going back to San Antonio with slices on slices worth of pie for them to have. When my parents came up to help move me in, they wanted to go to the Texan. They were impressed with how great the meal was alongside the pies. Pies that they bought extra of to take back with them to San Antonio. When I started my job, the first meal they took us new hires to was the Texan. I tried their Blue Plate Special and found out that Chicken Fried Pork Chops exist and fell in love with that. When my brother came and visited meeting my parents and me in Hutto, we went to the Texan. We enjoyed their appetizers and everyone had to have a slice of pie. Options for everyone. When a friend came and visited, she took a solo trip to the Texan while I was at work then told me she took the best nap of her life after. My buddy and I decided to go randomly one day after work to try their Hot Pie with Brandy Sauce. That thing is a tank and is worth a visit to try alone. What a sweet creation. When my girlfriend visited me in Hutto, I took her to the Texan and she will randomly text me about how much she misses the pie. I try to get her a slice every time she comes and visits. It is her favorite thing. It is clear to see why it is a favorite to so many because everyone I have taken to the Texan has left a fan wanting to come back. I brought my grandparents home a full Blueberry pie from the Texan Cafe which my grandma told me "was the best I have even since I was a little girl. Not too sweet with a great crust. Just right. A blueberry pie is my favorite." I know this review is less of a review and more of a collection of vignettes of many stories built inside the walls of the Texan Cafe, but that is what is so beautiful about southern hospitality and southern diners. That is why there is so much decor about the extensive history of Texan Cafe and the culture of Hutto on the walls. I went back this afternoon for the first time in a short while, but I find myself continuously impressed by the quality of the food, the efficiency as a whole, and just how welcoming everyone is inside. Their pies are just truly next level. Today, I went for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop Blue Plate Special which is truly heaven sent, potato salad, fried okra, and a slice of their cherry pie. It is a meal you feel blessed to eat and a restaurant you love supporting because of it. Every pie I have had at the Texan is better than any other pie I have eaten. They could be a full time bakery and still be the monument of Hutto. It just happens they have food that warms your heart too. RIYL: Grandma's cooking if it was not dry
