I waited a couple weeks to write this review so I could be fair about my experience. The bottom…read moreline is that I would rate their food as a six, and my service a one after being blown off by not one, but two employees. The whole experience just was a major turn off. Had a rough start. Walked in to the side of the restaurant where you can't see that it's an order first, then sit down place. A staff member, who we later learned was the chef, waved his arm in the general direction of the restaurant and said "We'll get you a......" and then trailed off as he saw a friend, made a beeline over to him, gave the guy a big hug, and then proceeded to completely forget that we exist and have a lengthy conversation. So now we're standing partly in the restaurant with no idea as to where we should be. So awkward. I almost turned around and left, but finally a waiter directed us to a seat and said he'd bring menus by so we sat awkwardly until we realized we would have to go up and order. He never did return with those menus. Although the food was delicious, the whole experience left me with a terrible taste in my mouth. To be treated like an inconvenience by the chef himself is beyond insulting. He sat for the entirety of our meal at his special table, entertaining people and greeting those that came by to grace him. The whole thing just was elitist, awkward, and frankly, rude. The quality of the food is still not enough to bring me back based on that kind of experience.

It was comfortable with low lighting and the space didn't feel loud or crowded. The service was fantastic with several people visiting our table throughout the experience for various reasons, all incredibly friendly. The food itself for this particular event was Korean fried chicken, caviar, truffle fries and bubbles. Everything was great but the fried chicken was some of the best if not the best I've ever had. It came with the caviar and 3 other sauces (I'm a sauce guy!) which were all fantastic. We also ordered bread pudding for dessert which was not a part of the prefix and all agreed it was insanely yum! I want to go back for brunch and I will definitely keep an eye on their special events to go to more knowing how great they are! Only note is they are in a small strip mall and have a very small parking lot, so prepare for street parking nearby.

I know some…read morepeople can get really picky with their matcha and where it is sourced from and how it is prepared. I'm just not at that level. That said, this matcha was delicious. I got their double matcha latte, which is matcha topped with a foam. It came with oat milk by default which wouldn't typically be my choice, but it was great and I didn't really notice any difference. I loved the double matcha flavor. Staff and service were great. They were clearly very busy, as these drinks take a bit more preparation than a pour and go. It is really fun to watch them make the drinks. They went out of their way to check in with me on something which was very appreciated. The shop is located on NE 28th, a very happening part of town. They don't have big signs out front so it might be easy to miss. It's a small store with 3-4 tables and a small couch. I recommend taking your drink to-go and walking around the neighborhood or to Laurelhurst!

Their menu selection is small, but each drink is well curated and delicious. Yunomi offers a small work area with 3 tables and a countertop space, but if those tables are taken you are out of luck :(. So far, I have tried their banana hojicha, black sesame hojicha, double matcha, jasmine matcha, and oolong matcha. Of all the drinks, I recommend getting the double matcha- creamy, not too sweet, perfect taste of matcha in one drink. Yes, the cups are small, but for me the quality overrides the size (plus I am a sipper not a chugger so it works out). I'm not sure why Yunomi doesn't have the crowd or the rush as some other matcha places in the PDX area have, but I am not complaining because that means more delicious matcha and good street parking spots for me! Highly recommend visiting Yunomi for a sweet treat if you are in the area!

I am by no means a bagel connoisseur, but I think this spot might be a top contender for serving up delicious bagels in the PDX area. Yes, they are a bit on the pricier side for bagels and bagel sandwiches, but the bagel flavors and well curated and the fillings they offer are of great quality. I ordered the kimchi cheddar bagel with soufflé egg, green onion schmear, and pork roll fillings- and I was blown away! The texture and flavor of the bagel is something that you should come experience yourself. Combined with the fluffy egg and flavors from the pork and schmear, this bagel sandwich surpassed my expectations in terms of yumminess and texture. I am already thinking about coming back again to try other bagel flavors they offer! There are small circular tables lined up against the wall with a linear booth and some chairs, but the work space is quite small, so I am not sure if this would be a good work spot. They also offer some drinks that I would like to try out some other time!

As I placed my order the options were in front of me along with food options. I settled down and got a latte with hazelnut and a bagel with cream cheese. I had looked in the back area to sit but I realized it was subtle outdoor seating. Kinda cute but I'm from Hawaii so I was honestly too cold. I underestimated the table I sat on, I assumed my binder was going to take up the entire space, but I actually had space for my food, coffee, binder and my laptop. While doing my homework there were other people getting things done along side parents planning their kids spring break. A lot of customers that came in seemed familiar and happy going inside and chatting with the two gals handling the bar. It felt like I was watching an episode of some sort of show for a second sort of like "how I met your mother. " Great vibes, nice workers, good and affordable coffee with affordable food, like, seriously affordable. I've seen bagels cost $7 where I'm from and that's without cream cheese. Haha.
