Solid no frills lunch spot in a pretty barren area of downtown that's perfect for office workers and jurors nearby looking for a cheap quick bite to eat. Breakfast burritos are a really good value and I like their beef taco salad. It makes me feel nostalgic for taco salads from the 90s...sadly theirs just comes with chips and not a taco salad bowl like the ones in the 90s. My family and I visited from out of state and this place was the closest to our hotel. We got the breakfast croissant and added bacon or sausage and they were delicious. The prices are better than anything else around. There's a lot of regulars and the workers knows their orders by heart. I've visited the Turkey Place off and on for many, many years. They are a real institution. Affordable prices, quick and friendly service, and decent food quality for a regular lunch. I think that years ago, they called themselves "Coffee Bento Bistro" or something similar. But, the owner got into the habit of cooking a full turkey every day, and the regulars caught on that the best food items were based on that (bento over rice, wraps, salads, etc). My career has sort of revolved around the Turkey Place -- my first professional job (while in college at PSU) was at the Police Bureau adjacent; Nearly all of the MCSO and PPB staff visit Turkey Place regularly. Then I spent a few years working at Umpqua Bank (also adjacent), where I got into the habit of ordering a turkey caesar salad (I think the best thing on the menu). I no longer work in the neighborhood, but whenever I'm downtown I enjoy seeing that they are still open. I was able to stop by yesterday (serving jury duty, down the road), and the same owner continued to provide a great turkey caesar. read more

It has many of the sandwiches you would expect, what surprised me were some of the Korean options! Very clean space and very friendly staff. I was in the mood for a hot sandwich so I ordered a reuben. Flavor was definitely packed in the sandwich. I would have preferred a more special/different type of bread but it was regular sandwich loaf bread. Size of sandwich was also on the smaller size. I visited Portland and was tired of paying $20 for the tiny underwhelming omelette at the hotel so decided to give this independently owned and family run restaurant at the base of the parking garage across from the hotel a try. I'm glad I did! The omelette choice included fresh sautéed vegetables ($9), with the option for sausage or bacon or ham for just $1 more. Sadly, I was so hungry I failed to take a picture of it but can recommend it without reservation. in addition, the husband (who takes the order and runs the register) and the wife (who is sous chef) or delightful and very nice. If you're looking for a fresh, delicious breakfast option in the downtown Portland area I would strongly recommend this restaurant. I have not had the opportunity to try, but they offer turkey breast sandwiches - with or without stuffing to accompany the cranberry - but I understand they are knock out as well. read more

I'm so glad that I found Turkey Place as a result of craving Thanksgiving food after the holiday. While reviewers on here generally like Turkey Place, I was still a tad skeptical due to their name (let's be honest) and overall unassuming nature and location of the deli. I chose to get a turkey plate ($9.50 or so), which came with dark meat turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing with walnuts, cranberry sauce, and a warm dinner roll. I was so, so impressed. First off, the portion was quite good. I was starving and still had enough leftovers to bring home for a snack. The turkey was so moist. My gripe is that turkey on Thanksgiving is often dry and bland. However, this turkey was different. It was flavorful and tender. It also helped that there was a bunch of gravy poured over my plate. Turkey is such a holiday oriented food in my mind, and I'm ecstatic that I'll be able to get my turkey fix year round at a deli that roasts their own turkey in house, everyday. Unreal. It's also interesting that this is a deli with regular sandwiches, salads, soups, and even Korean and Japanese BBQ! I'm a huge advocate for Farmhouse Cafe in this area of downtown, but Turkey Place might take that #1 spot once I try out more of Turkey Place's menu. One thing to note - there is a credit card fee of 40-ish cents if you spend less than $10. I bought a bag of chips to have my money going to something I'll eat rather than the fee. read more

Pro tip: street parking around isn't readily available due to police-only marked area but you can park in the garage for free up to 15minutes-perfect when picking up a to-go order!
