And Drew did an excellent job to explain to me some of the jargons I am not familiar with, and made modifications to address my requests. We have 2 rental houses in the hill country that got hail damage a couple of years ago from a terrible hail storm in the area. I live in Houston and really didn't know who to call to have new roofs put on . so I just started googling roofing co's in the Austin area . normally I look at reviews but for some reason I didn't this time. so, anyway I called about 5 companies and they all came out and gave me a quote. the quotes were all over he place as far as price . it was really strange how, big the difference was between the 5 companies. so I listened to what each one was going to do. none of them knew it but I did roofing for years so I know a little about roofing. Ja- Mar wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive but reasonable as were a couple others. but there salesman was not as pushy as a couple of the others and it just sounded to me like this was the co. to use. He explained everything really good including what brands they used, warranty etc. and how they were going to go about installing the new roofs. So, I picked them. set up a day and time. I was not able to be there while. they did the work but they sent pictures and explanations. I had a friend who is a home builder go by and take a look when they were finished. He called and told me they did a really good job and cleaned up the site perfectly. I went there about a week later to see for myself and I was extremely happy at the job they did and the price like I said wasn't the cheapest but wasn't the highest. it's been a couple of years now and even after several bad storms with high winds both roofs are holding up great.! This company completed my roofing and I've had nothing but problems since. I had to call company several times for leakage. I was told that it had nothing to to with the roofing but everything was fine before the job was done. They do not take accountability for anything and never fixed the problem. The signs were there initially when the roofers through shingles off the roof on to my plant, light, and camera which they did reimburse me for those items. The way they advertise their metal roof is that this will be "your forever roof", so I hope they are right. And if they are, it means we won't need their services, but if I were to need a roofer they would still be one of the first places I would call. Some of the reviews point to some minor issues (i.e. cleaning the premises, communication and coordination), and they may well be right as inherent with any contracting job. Overall, I would recommend a potential customer to look at the end product and quality, not at tangential aspects. After a recent storm, my roof developed a leak. I reached out to Ja-Mar roofing based on a referral. My error not getting more referrals. First red flag should have been when the sales person was touting Ja-Mar reputation on the number of years it has been in business and the inferior work the competitors preform (compared to Ja-Mar). The second red flag was that they told me they were coming out to do the repairs on a certain date and didn't show up until 3 days after that. The sales person was to also provide a quote for replacing additional shingles. He never did. On the day the repairs were preformed I got home just after the roofers were finished. I called the sales person and he told me they were done and he would be by in 30 minutes to go over everything. After waiting 3 hours and the sales person never showing up I took it upon myself to go inspect the work. They missed several spots of caulking, threw an empty caulking tube in my tree and left shingles on my driveway. Unfortunately the salesperson decided to put me on the back-burner and go on vacation and didn't return for 3 days. When the sales person came to my house the following week he went up to my roof and finished the job that Ja-Mar charged me a premium for. The sales person even told me his guys preformed a half assed job and was embarrassed by the work. However, even after all the sloppy work, poor communication and wasting my time, the salesman offered no discount for this poor experience. read more

In this case, Ja-Mar claimed that they would come out and assess the size and scope of the job during the week, but said that they would only do it contingent upon my availability to "give them a full 45 minutes to an hour" to go over the final bid with me. I rearrange my schedule to accommodate them. The scheduled day arrives and the guy shows up an hour and a half late - no phone call, and immediately says, "Geez, we're so busy that we never had a chance to look at the roof this week and I'm really hungry and I need to go get something to eat." So far so good at the bidding stage... The roof on one of my rental properties suffered hail damage and needed to be replaced. Maybe I should have gone with the property managements first pick but I asked for another bid and was impressed by Denny's thorough email and pictures of the roof etc... His bid was good and included drywall replacement for the interior where there had been leakage inside. I emailed him about ETA when I had not heard past the time i thought it might be done but there was no reply. My management company followed up and cc'd me the email. The relationship with my tenants means a lot to me and i treat them like I would want to be. Here is the email from my tenants that sparked my email to ask about the progress: The shingles were delivered last week (presumably Tuesday the 12th) and have been sitting on the roof since then. No one has come to assess the interior damage, nor to begin work on the roof itself...despite us giving several dates we could be available, as needed, to access the inside of the house. We haven't heard anything from the roofing company either. Can you please find out what is going on and let us know when we can expect the roof to be completed & repairs to be made? Thanks. An email came from Denny 8 days ago saying that the roof is done but the sheet-rock repair as not done because his sheet-rock guy got injured and will be out for 6 months... I called him about this and left a voicemail and no return call or email.. funny how communication changes after payment has been made compared to before the bid was accepted. Denny, you cant call me and discuss other sheet-rock people or try to line another one up? Is your business so small that you tell someone the only person that could have done this was this one person? BTW my management company got in touch with a sheet-rock person and the bid was $300 lower on the sheet-rock and includes more since they said that the floor had damage which the Ja Mar quote never mentioned. Bottom line is the roof work might be awesome ( I am not there to have a walk through) but the fact that there was no email or phone call follow up to my concerns is not good. I live in a house that has a new roof repair from them. The roof is only about 3 1/2 years old. After a big rain the roof is leaking. It is ONLY 3 1/2 years old. Some workmanship if it only lasted that long. Also it was about a $10,000 job. And it's not even transferrable. You would think that warranty is warranty. It's only a five year workmanship warranty. Why can't they transfer? It's not like I'm asking them to increase the 5 years or anything. My roof is only leaking in one area. So if you plan on fixing your roof with them before you sell DON'T EVEN BOTHER. Go to someone who will transfer their warranty. I have a standing-seam steel roof. Unfortunately I chose a mocha color and have Live Oak trees surrounding it. The pollen and dust had just obliterated the beauty of the roof.
