I decide to write this because I think people should know about them: I desperately needed a chain repair and a very close friend of mine recommended John Sampieri to me. I called to let them know of the situation and was glad when they told me to come in right away. They greeted me with the warmest smiles and put me at ease when they told me it was a simple fix. After waiting for about 20 minutes the chain came back fully repair and charged $15. ( In another store I had brought it to, they were going to charge me $110 and I had to come back 1 week later to pickup). The chain was very sentimental to me and I was going on a trip the next day and didn't want to part with the chain. I was so ecstatic when John was able to repair the chain the same day. While I was waiting, we chatted for a little bit and he never tried to push jewelry on me...considering I was there for only a $15 repair; you would think he would want to make more money by selling jewelry to me. He had a huge selection of jewelry but at the time, I was really there to just fix my chain. John spoke to me like I was his friend already and love chatting about the neighborhood and what it has become. He made me feel at ease and I didn't have to buy jewelry to get the same attention as everyone else. But as I was waiting for my chain, you can see many of his customers coming in and greeting him like family. It's the connection he has with his customers that I felt comfortable knowing he will be my Jeweler. People feel comfortable talking to him and knowing he's a GIA Graduate Gemologist confirms my intuition he truly is knowledgeable about diamonds. Approximately 8 months after my first encounter with him, on my anniversary, my husband surprised me by telling me we were going to John Sampieri to pick out my gift. I was shocked that he remembered me when I walked in. We ended up picking a beautiful eternity anniversary band which I LOVE LOVE LOVE. There was also a pendant I loved and couldn't decide between the two so John told me he would put it aside for me for my next gift. They are such nice people; really down to earth. Not your typical jewelers, but just really, really nice people. You can't get better than them. If you ever need any repair, advise, consultation or just simply, jewelry, you can definitely rely on them. I wanted to wait for my final product to be done to write this Yelp review. I found J Sampieri from the reviews on Yelp and after visiting a couple of stores. I decided to work with John, Janet and Lora because of the comfort I felt with them. I have my engagement ring for the past 15 years and I've been meaning to change the setting for my anniversary. I've found so many designs online but I wanted to find a place that has a good selection for me to choose. I made an appointment with them ONLINE (it was nice that they made it convenient) for a Saturday morning. I showed up and the first thing they offered me was coffee or water. (they are so nice). Then I began my viewing selection with John. He was very patient with me the whole time and never rushed me thru with the whole process. As I narrowed down my selection, they call in Janet (she makes all the pieces for the company) for advice of each setting. She was very informative with the settings I choose. She went into the advantages and disadvantages of each setting due to the shape of my stone. At the end, we picked out a band that was suitable for the look I wanted and for my tough every day wear and customized a top for my stone to sit properly. It's been a wonderful experience working with them from start to end. I love the fact that they are not typically pushy jewelry that makes you spend more money when you don't have to. I had a budget and they were very nice with keeping that amount in mind. They also gave me options to spend less so I can save money. Overall, I'm impressed with the service they provide along with a big selection on engagement settings and jewelry customization. I'm usually very critical on a lot of services out there but I was the most impressed here. I would recommend them to anyone who's looking for great customer service and great selection on jewelry. I cannot say enough wonderful things about John and Janet. We live on Long Island and never mind making the trip into the city to work with them. My fiancé worked with John when picking out my engagement ring and he worked with him until he found the perfect stone. I found John Sampieri through a personal recommendation and, after some bad experience with another jeweler, am so glad I did. I have worked on two projects with John and Janet and aside from being genuinely nice people who always have time to chat, they have tremendous patience to work with you and ensure the finished article is exactly what you are looking for. My first project was to re-purpose the stone in my engagement ring. I had no idea what to do with it - I just knew I never wore the ring as it was - but after chatting with me for a while, Janet set the stone in a necklace I already owned, a very simple and unique design that suits me perfectly but something I would never have thought of. I love it and wear it frequently. The second project was adding small stones to a bracelet that had great sentimental value. Again, Janet worked with me to create something special and unique and to ensure it fit exactly right. Both times I have found the prices to be reasonable and always within my margin of expectation.
