I was paying$200 on my bill and it said there was an error so I redid it and it actually took $400 out of my account when I called them I asked them if they could reverse $200 they said yes then they called me back and said it would only let them reverse $160. We changed our propane service from Kamps to JS West and have been very happy with their service and pricing ever since. We chose to be on 'auto route' where they come out to make sure our tank is kept full. They also gave me 25 free gallons on my account when I referred my neighbor (who was using Amerigas) to JS West! BONUS!!! I thought that was a pretty nice way to say thank you. I would have referred them regardless, but it was nice! :) read more

This company will shut off your propane if you owe them 75.00 dollars. Even if 200$ of the propane in the tank is yours. Not to mention they will steal your property to do it. Then when they f'd up the payment they already, they will ignore you and make your family wait days to return the property they stole from you that makes it impossible to have heat and hot water. Worst experience I've ever had. This is after being a customer for 17 years. Not locally owned either, just another lie. Will be changing service ASAP. read more

El Dorado county office is terrible! Twice I was stranded at my new house without heat on a winter weekend because of office communication and paperwork errors. They don't care. Expensive extra charges and loopholes to jump if you need help. Go somewhere else. read more

I don't use J west for propane, but apparently the j west propane trucks from placerville think my driveway is a turn about when all they have to do is drive a little further & do a I turn at the next cross street. FYI: Propane trucks are to heavy & can break my concrete (which has happened in the past by another propane truck). Just know you're on camera! Doubt you want to pay for a new driveway. Was able to schedule a tank installation within a few days and had the propane tank filled right away the next morning. The two gentlemen that did the installation were very kind and professional. The cost of the propane was very reasonable and affordable. read more

This company doesn't care for customers AT ALL. Long time customer on auto pay and auto deliver. During last storm we ran out of propane. Should have been delivered automatically but I called and they said it would be soon. Well one month later and every excuse in the book they told me that they had hundreds of customers in front of me. Great service and very rude dispatcher. I mean very rude. BEWARE!! You've been warned! Completely Incompetent company! If I could give 0 stars or less, I would! Purchased a new home & JS West tank was already installed. Called & set up an account. We were told we had 30%, but our meter said 10%! Still were told we were on the schedule for them to come out. Ok, but that was over two weeks ago & now we are snowed in, have no electricity & zero propane (which is our only source of heat). We have been calling them several times a day for status updates on delivery (they now say they show us at 10%, which we have zero) & continue to be told we are on the delivery schedule, at the top of the list, which we've been being told for three days now! Told they don't have 4 wheel drive trucks & limited trucks with chains. What? You've been in business in our area for how long? We've been on the "schedule" for over two weeks, even had a break in the snow yesterday when the roads were clear/plowed clean. Yet, they still didn't come to our home for delivery, now we're completely out of propane & have no heat!! This company has multiple issues wrong. Either just not giving a flip about their customers or being completely incompetent (both really)! Get your scheduling together! It's not difficult people! Invest in the vehicles that serve your company so they can service your customers in a timely manner. Ya, sure, they have good prices, but what good does that do if you can't get them to deliver?! My 83 & 86 yr old parents live in Pollock Pines, CA. My Mom has COPD requiring an electric Nebulizer for her medication. Due to a snow storm their area lost power on 12/27/2021. My parents initially had had power due to their purchase of a whole house generator, which requires Propane. As soon as they began to run low on Propane, my Sister called their propane company, JS WEST to get their tank filled because of my Mother's medical condition.  my sister was told they would not make any urgent efforts to assist my parents, only that they will put my parents "on the list"...JS West NO SHOWED.  The next day my Dad called them and was told, "we will be out there by 2pm today"  My parents waited all day and again they NO SHOWED.  The 3rd day, they ran completely out of Propane, when my Dad called them he was told, "we don't see you on the list."  We urgently attempted to get another Propane company to come fill their tank and were told that because my parents lease their tank from JS West, by contract NO OTHER COMPANY CAN FILL THEIR TANK except JS West.  But JS West will NOT show up!!!  They are holding my parents captive by not allowing any other company to help them, even in this decalred State of Emergency. It is now 1/2/2022 and they have still NOT received any Propane from JS West. This is a LIFE SAFETY MATTER.  People will die if no action is taken. read more

For the two years since I've been in my place, she has cheerfully and patiently answered all my questions and helped me with any documentation I needed. They'd rather let children freeze than adjust their delivery schedule. When I started the service plan with them, I was told they would check the tank in 6 months. Long story short, 7 months goes by and I didn't hear anything, and we ran out of propane. I noticed it because I woke up and it was 48 degrees inside the house. I called customer service to get it refilled and was told that it could take up to 14 days to schedule delivery. I explained the situation, emphasizing the fact that my wife is 8 months pregnant and we have 4 children! I was told that they could possibly come out by Monday (this was on Thursday). On top of that it would cost $500 for 100 gallons and the service fee, which I had no choice but to pay because, even though they don't care, I dont want my wife and children to freeze to death. I called back today to ask if there's anyway to get someone out sooner and was told that Monday is actually the best case scenario. It might actually be Wednesday or later. It's clear that they don't care if a pregnant woman and 4 children go a week without heat or hot water, because they've already gotten their $500. Do yourself a favor and choose another company, I sure wish I had. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE company. Make zero effort to actually service in time of need and always answer the phone with such attitude when calling to ask why they are a week or more late delivering. They are never on time delivering in the supposed window of delivery they give you. After a major Blizzard, our roads were cleared and passable, the js west truck stopped middle of the road and when my husband asked if they were finally delivering to us a week late, driver told my husband to move because he was backing all the way out and won't go further. Called to ask why they won't drive cleared roads (we gave no attitude and asked politel), and the lady answering was Absolutely rude and said "We don't require our drivers to carry to chains. We will get there when we get there", yet you service so many people in the mountains and have so many customers down to nothing propane wise after/during a storm or this time a declared state of emergency. We called weekly asking if they were coming and it was always "we have been trying to service that area but cant" yet we had seen at least 3 other propane companies driving past our house even mid storm. An absolutely horrendous company. We've had JS West for years. My husband died a few weeks ago after a 5 year battle with Stage IV Cancer. I wanted to put the propane deliveries on Auto-Pay but they told me I can't because it's only in my husband of 30 years' name. They send me the big packet of papers to put it in my name. I'm 80% full so I attend to his final arrangements and organ donation ect and don't turn it in straight away. I get a call tonight saying they give people a week to get the name change turned in and that they will be sending someone out to lock our family out of our propane. Literally lock a family out of their paid-for propane in the winter? "Yep" she says. I turned in my name change paperwork tonight. How's that for a company we've had for years? Despicable behavior in my opinion! I would not recommend JS West to anyone. read more

This company cares nothing about their customers. After 3 years of constantly paying monthly payments they put my family on a "delivery hold". I'm a disabled veteran with small children in my home. They didn't send any letters or call me. Not even an email. After finally contacting them I was told "7-10 business days before delivery". Just moved into a rental home with a propane tank one month ago. Never had a tank before and have no experience with how this works. Tank was 65% when I moved in. Checked the meter after a month and was stunned to see it sitting at only 5%. Called JS West in a panick and about fell out of my chair when they nonchalantly told me it will be *two weeks* before they can fill my tank. Explained propane heats my home and fuels my hot water. Was told "yeah we're really busy.. they'd have to talk to their boss and call me back." Now I'm terrified at the prospect of not having heat or hot water for two weeks. Worse, they own the tank and I don't think I have any other options. The fact that leaving someone hanging for two weeks is even a *possibility* truly disturbs me. If you have too many customers to service them adequately, obviously you need to hire more people and/or get more equipment. We're not talking about a window washing service or something. This is an essential utility!!! Heating is literally life and death for a lot of people. It's hour and still no call back yet. Will update. *** Update *** They called back and really did me a solid. They refilled my tank on Tuesday morning, first thing. I appreciate they've handled this rather irritating situation promptly and respectfully. We needed a tank fill. They said they had to charge us $100 to do a safety inspection and light our pilot lights. I attempted to decline and they told me it was state mandated that ONLY they could do it and that they HAVE to do it. I said that just sounds like a scam and got hung up on. Well just as I thought the employee came, I watched him fill the tank and leave. He did not hook the tank up, inspect it or attempt to come light pilot lights. I feel bad since most people aren't home to catch their scams when they come. read more

After being a customer for over 5 yrs we get a letter in the mail stating that in order to continue service with them we need to do one of 3 things... 1. Fill our 250 gallon tanks immediately AND use the minimum of 250 gallons a year 2. GIVE them $1.00 per tank size a year, so we have 2 250 gallon tanks (1 for each house), for a service charge, that would be $500.00 a year. 3. Schedule a time for them to come pick up the tanks. Are you for real? We do not use a lot of propane due to the main house uses the propane for cooking only and the second house is only a guest house for when family comes to visit and only uses the propane for the water heater. So now we are going to be penalized for not using a lot of propane. No thank you JS West, that is NOT how you keep customers, not even the ones who uses minimal propane. Shopping has begun! Then when I called, wow, the lady who answered was so nonchalant like oh well...LOL Horrible customer service.. read more

I am on a meter which is fed by a tank., LOL. I'm very happy with JS West. The drivers are pleasant, we have never had to call for a fuel delivery. They are always on schedule. If you have a billing issue make can't pay at that moment they are very understanding. read more

When you always, I mean ALWAYS (for 10 yrs) only order 150 gallons and all of a sudden you f*#kers fill up our tank and now it costs $800! then we call and say, "hey we didn't order a fill-up and we always buy 150 gal. at a time...we can't afford a sudden $800 propane bill", then some idiot from your office says; "you can go on our payment plan, we'll send you a payment coupon", then YOU FOLKS DON'T SEND anything, except for a threatening letter, saying that we owe you $800 NOW"!? I have been with JS West Placerville, CA for 6 years since arriving here to the mountains. They are wonderful. My first step in researching which company to go with was based on cost, alone. Yes, I did my research on reviews as well. I have found them accommodating and caring about my needs, mostly keeping me warm in winters as a priority (I heat with propane and wood but use gas heat daily). They even offer a military discount. Called when our tank was at 12% (per their directions). Was informed it would be two weeks before they could fill our tank. Well, it's been two weeks and we are out of gas - and it's Sunday. Called the office and was told by answering service that they were told by JS West not to contact them on the weekend. I have to wait until tomorrow for them to get the message and respond. Awesome. They refuse to knock on your door before entering the backyard of your home and Ben (Reed?)the manager of Placerville will not value nor acknowledge customers professionally. His arrogance and probably multiple complaints get the best of him perhaps. Yes, they do have a legal contract in which you sign to enter the property to locate the propane but a curtesy knock on the door or note on our porch door knob is the right thing to do. I'm sure they would agree if they had kids playing in their backyard or a dog without a leash on. The office staff lack customer service and tends to have an attitude every time we had called (granted we only call 2-3 year during delivery or if we have questions). We are on a route and driver is supposed to call the night before. The office manager wanted us to provide JS West with our gate code and had advised us that JS West NEEDS access to the propane tank AT ANYTIME. In the past couple of years, we have had different drivers each delivery and we will not provide our code to JS West. Per JS West site: Access to System and Equipment: Lessee/Landowner agrees to permit West or its authorized agent access to the System and Equipment at "all REASONABLE TIMES for PURPOSES of inspection, service, removal" of equipment. Nowhere on JS West website states that JS West needs 24x7 access to the equipment on our gated property. JS WEST (Placerville Office) - do your job and make the call the night before as per agreement when we signed up with your company. TRAIN your office staff to have better customer service. I hope your Director of Propane Operations, Jeff Price reads and address customer concerns. read more

My tenant smelled gas and JS West was on within 2 hours. Fixed the problem and even replaced a hose....no charge. Well done!

Terrible overpriced propane service. Liars. Do not use! They opened my gate by removing a cotter pin when they arrived before I noticed they were there. When I saw they were at my gate I tried to open it but then it offset my opening arms because they had removed a pin to let themselves in without permission. There is absolutely no other way a cotter pin would come out of my gate on its own. If you have a gate, you know this. I went to ask if they messed with it and I was lied to right to my face by the driver. They were defensive and rude when we called them. We adjusted our service to us requesting when to get propane rather than them coming when they want. We called for a refill at 25 percent, were told 7 to 10 days, and it has now been 2 weeks, and we are almost out of propane! I plan on having their tanks removed and replaced with my own tanks so we don't have to be gouged on prices along with receiving terrible service, and being lied to. It will be a financial burden on my family, but worth not risking us freezing in the winter or having some idiot let himself onto our property by manipulating my gate and then lying about it. Theyvare lucky my german shepherds were inside. Security cameras are up now, so we'll see how it goes next time. read more

I won't go into full detail on how terrible of an experience Ive had with these people, however I will tell you the customer service is very poor and they are not fair what so ever. making up new policies as they go along seems to be notorious for them.
