Went for girls day. Friendly staff. Nice clean environment. For what they charge I would expect every technician could produce results worthy of up close pictures of hands on a wedding day. My sister and niece got manicures that would be worthy. I did not. Cuticles not completely trimmed and polish was taken up to the cuticle. When this happens in a day when the nail grows out the polish line is jagged. You have to pay $10 more to have the polish that dries quicker. I wish they explained and gave us the tip envelopes before we started. I didnt know this was available. Otherwise I would have tipped my technician less. The pictures are within a couple hours of having my nails done. I wrote the business three days ago and haven't heard back. Overpriced for a non- guarantee to have perfect cuticle work or polish. Also my technician's massage of hands and feet were like a lotion application- no pressure. Yet my sister next to me applauded the gal she worked with on the pressure of her foot massage. read more

Traveled to Boulder for a girls day. We picked this salon for several reasons but mainly because they advertised on their website that you can bring a bottle of wine and they will take care of serving it. Well not the case. Second strike was the externally hard bench you sit on for your "natural" pedicure (I personally love the massaging chairs at other places) if the bench was softer it might have been ok. The technician was super nice and very professional. She actually included a foot rub which most places seem to forget these days. Over all the environment is shabby chic and very cute. I was excited to try this place out. It's supposedly clean, people are polite and speak English(extremely important). Yes it's super expensive(hipster Boulder) and I assume most of their strengths lie in the spa services(my brows were ok) bc nail services as I just experienced are absolute garbage... I have been getting gel french pedicures for 4 years now. This one was by far the worst and at the most ridiculous price. I researched it, so I was ready, but I was also ready for quality. Oh I get it I get it It's all natural "organic" la la la. Cool story girl. What's the point of it if it looks like crap? The massage, scrub, callus work was good. Cuticle work was not good at all. Now the polish...What's the point of charging 15 bucks extra for gel if your selection is minimal and your tech can't even do it, putting it and curing it on my skin and sh*t? And the French part? 7 bucks. Looks like a five year old painted it. I felt sorry for the tech, she was obviously inexperienced in that technique, she was trying and doing it super slowly, her hands were shaking. She apologized. She said she never does it. I told her it wasn't her fault. This salon is obviously not bothered to deliver on promised services. If I want gel french please schedule me for a tech who can do gel french. If you don't know which techs you've hired are skilled enough to perform services you advertise then take it off your website. Problem solved. Say: we are great at putting some basic polish on your nails(you can do it too but ours is organic and thus it's 50 bucks), we can Barely put gel polish on your nails.... aaaand that's it. I mean god damn ladies, being trendy and organic is not gonna cut it. I had way better manis/pedis at Vietnamese chop shops. For half the price. And I mean waaaaaay better. read more

This was my first and last visit to J Lounge. I went in for a pedicure, paid for the top end option ($90 with tax and a VERY reluctant tip). Polish colors are extremely limited. At the onset, I mentioned I wanted my nails buffed very smooth (this request was absolutely not met), and she clipped one nail to the quick (very painful, I let her know immediately), she did the bare minimum for cuticle prep and didn't trim around the nails at all. For the foot and leg massage, she told me to let her know if the pressure hurts me. She barely used any pressure at all, so her statement made no sense whatsoever. I repeatedly stated that I'd prefer more pressure, and she made no change in pressure. I won't go back, and recommend you find another salon for your nail services. That would buy me a shellac mani that lasts for weeks from Contempo Nails. No walk-ins, appointment only. Did I mention expensive?? The Service: Great service, it is nice to have a conversation instead of feeling gossiped about. Mani was great, most places don't bother to do a stellar job when you don't want polish. She buffed my nails so they're smooth & shiny without polish! Overall: Too expensive to become a regular...its nice they offer the service of "naked mani"...but for a pedicure, I'd rather go get an affordable one from Contempo. I made my appointment online and got an appointment the same day which was great. My appointment was at 11:45 and when I arrived i was given a sheet to fill out asking medical questions (guessing incase I want to get a massage/facial in the future). About 15 minutes later my 80 minute appointment began (late). I scheduled a mani/pedi at $80 total (I did upgrade to Vinylux for an extra $5). My appointment began with Helda who seemed very nice and not too chatty which I love, bc I want to enjoy and take it in, especially at $85. To my surprise no one offered me any of the wonderful Teatulia they had or anything else. The woman next to me (first timer like myself) was offered a warm neck towel and I wasn't. She was also offered tea or water and I wasn't. I would think at $85 I would have been offered a small split of champagne or something but nothing, not even water. The technician next to me with the first time client was educating her client about the Vinylux which I inquired about while my technician was cleaning up and to my surprise I was sold. I have tried shellac and the process of removal is just too much of a hassle. The other technician upsold me on it and I may have tried other upsells would I have been given the opportunity. The absolute most important part was the mani/pedi and to my wonderful surprise they came out FANTASTIC. Helda knows how to work it, massage and polish wise, both looked and felt terrific. However once I added in tip (over $100 total for mani/pedi) I will more than likely continue at my Asian salon bc of the price. When I feel like treating myself I will go back to Helda but for weekly maintenance, NO WAY. Would I have been offered the hospitality like the client next to me than I would probably become a regular client. Consistency and hospitality is key in this town it was a bummer I didn't enjoy the overall experience but did enjoy Helda's mani/pedi. Thanks for great looking nails Helda! read more

Their prices are fairly reasonable for a higher-end nail salon, but I was less than impressed with the receptionist after calling to try to book an appointment today. First I was hung up on. I called back and she just did not seem to be trying to help me find a time. Totally fine. I'll go elsewhere. I used to come here all of the time for brow waxes, brow tints, gel manis and pedis. When the service started to go downhill, I switched to another 'Studio' here in Boulder. I've tried nearly every single nail salon in Boulder! It's hard to consistently get good service, anywhere. That was fine, but when I got there for their earlier, re-scheduled time my technician was still with another guest. I waited around for 20 minutes until my appointment began. The guest before me was talking LOUDLY on her cell phone about very personal matters. No one asked her to step outside. This same guest interrupted my appointment several times. None of the employees objected. How RUDE! After that ordeal, the owners decided to have a meeting in the lobby, which ruined my relaxing environment. They were loud and inconsiderate of their guests. When I picked out a polish, many of the colors were "out". I settled for different one that I really hate. I took off the polish as soon as I got home because it was so horrid. Fantastic place for nails, waxing and facials. Jen gives the most amazing facials (I have taken a few friends and my mom to see her and all say it's the best they've ever had). Very relaxing for a pedicure and I love the layout for talking to friends while getting your nails done or even just minding your own business and relaxing if you don't feel like being social. I love that they have the natural makeup there; I have tried it and love it....will be switching to that once I finish up my current batch of foundation, especially since it's a local company and not tested on animals. CLEAN!!! LIGHT!!! FRIENDLY!! My first visit and I went for the "more pedi" and it was "more" than I'd hoped for. I am susceptible to staph infections and have been putting off a pedi because I always get scraped and cut and the tubs are usually questionably clean at many of the local salons. Not one cut or scrape. Lauren was superb and took time and put in effort to assure that my experience was outstanding. Not everyone can afford a $60 pedicure so I feel very blessed that, while I'm by no means wealthy, I don't have to settle for the $25 walk in that leaves me walking OUT with open cuts on fingers or toes! The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxing yet vibrant all at once! The cherry, marzipan tea is excellent. I hope to return for a nice facial and when my fingernails recover from too many gel polishes (they are ridged and peeling!!) I will try their mani/pedi combo! Marie G. read more
