We did as much as we could until we hit a wall and realized we needed to call in a pro, and a pro is who we found with Tim at Sonoma Coast Construction. Tim was so helpful and responsive to my requests to get quote for rescuing us from ourselves. He was friendly, knowledgeable and got over to our place right away. As you may imagine, our project ended up being more complicated than any of us anticipated, but Tim and his helper were able to problem solve on the spot, and smoothed out all the wrinkles we had made before they got there. Our project was completed super fast, and we are delighted with the results. The quality of the work was excellent, we felt confident in Tim's skills, and our bathroom was back up and running that very evening. I love finding local folks with such high quality talent, and I absolutely recommend Tim and his team. Would love to do work with them again in the future, when inevitably we need to be saved from ourselves.

Chris, you did come out and you told me the window wasn't leaking. I tried to talk to your guy that was doing the roof over the bay window and he argued with me to. The window wasn't used. It came from the window company because the other one had failed, but this was just put in improperly and or not sealed correctly, so don't tell me I didn't try and call you to come out here and make it right. You basically blew me off.

We can't believe this is our house! We've had a couple of friends hire him now to do their projects! Travis walked into our patched-together 50 year old house and understood our vision for opening up the floor plan and letting more light in. He worked within our budget to draw up a quote that met our vision, while also recommending items that could easily be isolated and saved for a later project date without having to re-do any of this initial work (like refacing the fireplace, re-doing the back patio). He was patient and helpful through the architect and permitting phase and had great recommendations for local cabinet, tile and plumbing stores that allowed us to get great quality finishes within our budget. Every sub-contractor that he brought in for specialized pieces like our master shower tile, shower glass, flooring and insulation were friendly and did absolutely top of the line work. He is also very clever at figuring out solutions to curveballs that our house threw and could take our crazy Pinterest pictures and piece them together to build custom solutions like the bench in the master shower. Overall our project included a major overhaul and upgrade to our electrical panel / electrical service to the street, major plumbing upgrades, new windows, a master bathroom addition and a complete interior paint/flooring refresh and remodel including a complete kitchen remodel (with removing load bearing walls to create an open concept) and hall bath remodel. Our house of 16 years is now a sturdy, safe home we can spend the next 50 years in - Travis didn't cut any corners and understood that this needs to be our dream home that will last "generations" as he put it. He's an honest guy with old fashioned values and you just won't find a better team to take on your project.

When you are embarking on a full remodel of your new home and it is your first remodel experience,…read morethere is plenty of anxiety about the process. We had heard many horror stories about remodel experiences. When we met Adam from AJD Builders we felt an immediate sense that he genuinely cared about not only accomplishing a successful remodel but also that it be a pleasant and respectful experience....and it was. The most important thing he did was to give us a lot of guidance up front before we began so that our expectations matched the reality. We talked a lot about the details. Adam's bid was the most competitive and, while we didn't end up on budget, this was because of decisions we made along the way. We are very satisfied with what we spent and what we got. Once the permits came through Adam and his crew went to work. Dan, the foreman, is a true professional, always kind and willing to explain what was happening. Every member of their crew were consistently kind and professional as well. Tillman kept them in line. Our remodel was completed on time (which in itself is unheard of) and the end product is spectacular. The quality of workmanship is of the highest standard and Adam has always made himself available after the fact if we have questions or issues. AJD Builders will always be our first choice for future construction projects and we highly recommend Adam and his team to anyone in the Marin area who is looking for a truly professional contractor.
