AJD Builders built a new deck for us during this winter and spring. It is a very exceptional deck in many ways.
The decking material used was Ipe hard wood, also called Iron Wood, an extremely hard, dense and expensive wood from South America. The plans were unusually complicated, in that there were many intricate angles and patterns planned, which made this project more complicated to build than any deck I have seen before.
I want to express my unlimited compliments to Adam, for the way he managed this project from beginning to end. He and his workers were very timely, kept their appointments and worked with all my Change Orders to my total satisfaction. The jobsite was kept clean and orderly, the final cleanup was excellent.
The final cost exceeded my original expectations, but the reasons were my own many Change Orders, to which I agreed each time, and which improved the end result tremendously. The Change Orders were handled fairly, reasonably and honestly. For the cost I have received a better value than I would have expected from other builders. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, from the foundations to the deck finish and hand rails.
Adam always kept me informed during the construction. He was always accessible for me and available with his advice. The financial dealings were handled with transparency, fairness, honesty, and a general generosity. The subcontractors he hired were the best craftsmen I could hope for. Adam and his workers were always friendly, courteous, polite, and accommodating to our wishes.
Overall I want to express that I feel very lucky to have such a superb contractor. I could not have wished for a better builder. The result is simply outstanding. This is evidenced by AJD Builders receiving the first prize for my deck, in a nationwide competition by the largest importer of exotic hardwoods, Advantage Lumber Company. I congratulate Adam and his crew for this accomplishment.
Finally, I would like to recommend AJD Builders without any limitations to anyone wishing for a satisfactory completion of their plans, no matter how difficult. He is not just a good builder, but also a great person.
