The 3 ladies at the check-in desk didn't communicate well - they were pretty inefficient at checking reservations and seating people. There was a line and people without a reservation got seated before people that were there for an anniversary, very chaotic. Once seated all went smoothly. We ordered salads with dinner as there were no a la carte vegetable options. Entrees are served with a vegetable medley of squash but they were very overcooked & mushy so I'm glad we had salad. The rolls were delicious as were our dinners. The art on the wall at our table had noticeable food splatters on it, not sure how long they have been there, but not appetizing to look at. This is a hard review for me to write, because I need to take everything into context. So, to put the Country Kitchen up against the restaurants I usually review in Rochester, Buffalo and along my travels, I'd probably likewise rate it pretty low. So with that being said, I am going to approach this in one of the following 3 contexts: 1.) I'm local to the area and my options around me around limited. 2.) I either spent the day or am about to enter Letchworth State Park or Silver Lake and need a hearty meal or 3.) I chose to venture out of a Day trip from the city. I cannot say I know what the competition is like. I know of a few good restaurants in Mount Morris, Avon, Geneseo, etc. I'll just say that we were in town for the Chalk Art festival and in hindsight, we should've gone with the Poutine food truck. Let's get to the experience... 5 of us went inside to dine, leaving the festival scene outside. The place is a large family style restaurant that is showing its age. It can definitely use a modern makeover. The dingy drop ceilings held up by gold framing would've been a wow factor... in 1985. The specials were on two white boards hanging on the far wall in small handwriting. Especially awkward was that they were hanging directly over occupied tables! So I walked up to the table, excused myself and said "Sorry, I'm reading the specials on the board above you." They looked understandably annoyed. The main menu is typical diner food, but something about how it looked like it was printed on Print Shop Pro, also from 1985, made it really hard on the eyes to figure it all out. We ordered an appetizer sampler platter and taco logs, both of which were a hit for the family. The entrees were good sized and tasted good, but the portions on the sides were small. It was OK for us because we gorged ourselves on appetizers. My wife did not eat any appetizers and felt shortchanged on her fries (which we paid extra for because they were not included in her meal. Overall, the food was GOOD, albeit plain. The service was good, no complaints there. The restrooms were scary. Like, I'd should've used the festival pot-a-potty outside scary. Restrooms need a total gut job. So if this was Greece, I'd give it 1 or 2 stars. Taking everything into context, especially location and competition and the fact that it was not entirely a horrible experience, I'll be generous and give it a 3. Probably not someplace we'd come back to until we've tried the competition first.

Between chewy and crispy, the bacon leaned chewier but still had a little crisp to it, no complaints from me. This super melt was super cheesy, delish! The cup of ranch on the side was an awesome touch - I drizzled a bit on top before each bite. And the side of french fries were excellent - Right out of the fryer hot and perfectly golden crispy, one of the better side of fries I've had in a long time. For around $13.00 (as of 05/2026), this quality and size of the melt with fries was excellent, I was perfectly full as we paid for our meal at the front counter.
