The selection at this J.Crew is a bit limited, but it's a clean and organized store with a friendly team, so lot's to love! Located right in Palmer Square, this two level store has a mens & womens selection and sometimes a decent sale section. Like I mentioned, there really isn't EVERYTHING you would want to find, so if you saw something you loved on the website, don't bank on finding it in shop, but they have most of the season's big hits! I've always been a big J.Crew fan for basics, flats, even bags. I found a dress for a wedding that I particularly LOVED this summer as well! Don't sleep on J.Crew! This is a lovely store which is always well maintained. The team working is helpful and friendly. They normally have a good selection of sizes but since it is a smaller store be mindful that you may sometimes not find the popular sizes. The staff will help to have it ordered and sent to your home if needed. I love finding something timeless when they are running a sale! Quality is still good in comparison to other similar brands. Sorry to hear about their bankruptcy filing. In the past few years there's been some slippage in quality as their outsourcing went deeper into Asia but the clothing remains reasonably sturdy and timeless (which can be construed as boring.) Thankfully, they've resisted the disposable, fast fashion trend meaning their products are meant to resist a stiff breeze and one time through the wash - it's no coincidence that GAP rhymes with crap. Shopping here is a pleasure as the store and inventory are well maintained by a better than average staff with a pulse. As with most specialty retailers, the smart move is to wait for a sale. read more

This is a great store staffed by pleasant people, but it makes me feel bad about myself. Twenty-plus years ago, this little corner of Palmer Square around the kiosk was the home to my social stomping grounds, a bunch of Doc Martens-wearing punks killing time between PJ's, Burger King, smoking a little weed or pounding a fifth in a random campus garden, and our next trip down 206 to City Gardens on Calhoun Street. Now I buy clothes here that look like they've been through the washer one too many times, and are probably a bit too young for me. I feel so dirty, but I do love the shop and the products. J. Crew is one of those brands like Brooks Brothers, where whatever you buy will last practically forever, and will look fine more or less no matter how long you persist in wearing it, or how ragged it gets. You can apply whatever labels you like to them, but the only accurate ones are timeless and durable, which equate to good value, regardless of how much or little you spend here. I still wear the oxblood Docs, by the way. I will never grow up. My wife is rightfully embarrassed on occasion. read more

I will always have a special place in my heart for this J. Crew. I used to come here once a week or so, for about three months (but for good reason-- I had a class in the same building, I swear). Heck, I still make an effort to stop by whenever I'm in town, but that's probably mainly because New Jersey does not have sales tax on clothing. Excellent selection, large store space, and friendly staff-- they tend to always keep things organized/not crowded. Downstairs-- women's new seasonal items. Upstairs-- men's items and all sale items. Plus, the dressing room corridor upstairs actually have windows that overlook Palmer Square-- natural light! Woohoo! read more

This is one of the best J Crew stores I've been to (and I've been to a lot of J Crew stores). The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful and they always have an up-to-date selection of clothes and a great sale rack. I was looking for a sweater that they didn't have in my size the other day and the staff went searching all over the place and even looking online for it. How nice. I also like that the Women's section is downstairs and the Men's section is upstairs, so that when I'm shopping the girls get distracted and stay downstairs, leaving me in peace while I shop. read more

My FAVORITE J.Crew evs. The staff is so friendly, professional, and never too in your face. This location is very convenient to me, but lately I have been good and not shopping, but it's time to get my fall wardrobing on so I took a peek and ended up getting three great items! The selection at this store (I hear they are going to make it a flagship?) is great- the SO can check out suits, since they carry them here, and the women's selection is so good, and they always have my size. They started carrying shoes and more jewelry and accessories, too. When I went about to make my purchases, I asked the one sales associate who helped me with my fitting room if she liked the sweater that I had paired with my tweed skirt (it's my new favorite skirt and i haven't even worn it yet) and she talked to me for a little bit without it feeling put on or whatever. Anyway, I've had to return items too and it's never a pain in the butt. I would avoid coming here on a busy saturday especially when the kids come back to town for school as it gets pretty crazy! read more

This is a well maintained store with a nice selection of women's and men's clothes. Their sale section is vast and you can find some impressive steals. Unlike other j crews, you can also find smaller sizes in the women's section which isn't always the case. However, I generally find their staff to be hit or miss. I have either been ignored or have been given one word answers when I was looking for specific items. As such, I have resigned myself to not expecting any help but to peruse at my own leisure. Maybe it's just my luck but it's happened on more than one occasion. I will still shop here as I enjoy their clothing. read more

It was the day before thanksgiving and I really wanted a new shirt. I was very excited to stop by j crew after work and raced to the store with excitement. I have been to this store many times with positive experiences and I know they close at 6 on Wednesday. Well I showed up at 530 and what do ya know, they are closed! Overall, not the best selection, but a total savior when I had forgotten my hat and scarf on my trip East in February! Impeccable personalized service paired with great selections! My husband and I go out of our way to only come to this JCrew location. Alex, Michelle, and Allie are a pleasure to shop with and always make the perfect suggestion! I called ahead as I'm about to travel and needed new outfits and showed up to a large dressing room set up by Allie with over 10 outfits chosen and styled just for me! The best part is that this store's staff pays so much attention to their customers and clothing that based upon the cut, Allie set out either a size 4 or 6 for me, and she was ALWAYS RIGHT!! I had a new wardrobe in under an hour and it was fun and stress-free. Plus, I picked up pieces I wouldn't normally consider. Although the staff is always helpful and friendly, the size of the location limits the inventory that the store can carry. I therefore do most of my shopping online; I often find that the store just does not carry most items. As well, the parking is a pain. This does not mean that I don't love the clothes; I do. Awful customer service- avoid if you can! Went in today to return a sweater that didn't fit right. It was a gift from my family in Seattle, which they sent to me about 2 weeks ago. Apparently the return policy is 30 days - which the buyer & I were not aware of. The sweater was purchased more than 30 days ago but was in my possession for less than 30 days, which seems like a fair reason to accept the exchange. I should note that I was excited to make the return, because I was excited to shop for something cute from J Crew. The first woman who helped me was short with me, rude & passed me off to her manager in a condescending tone. The manager, Allie was equally as contemptuous. I treated her with respect & gratefulness and she was nothing but cold. She eventually agreed to return the sweater, but told me I had to pick a new item immediately. I asked if I could get the money on a gift card (it was $30...not a fortune people). She said no. I explained I had 15 minutes before my meter would run out & that I was on my way to work. Begrudgingly she gave me the gift card - truly in the rudest way possible. And warned me to not do this again & that they wouldn't do this again for me. Well. I am a first time customer at that location & consider it my last. It does not make sense to be as impolite as she was when J crew is retaining the sale since the $ is on a gift card, and the sweater is barely a month past purchasing. Extremely unimpressed. Guess I'll shop online - definitely not as this location. read more
