This review is regarding my purchase of something from their online store. I bought a pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans, received them without much fanfare--which is fine. Try them on, they do not fit. Again, shouldn't be a problem, Zoe's website says to email them to receive a "return authorization #" in order to return something within *14 days*. Great, it is only 3 days after I put in the order AND the same day I receive the order--so I should be good. Girl, when I tell you. I have at this point written them 3 emails and DMed their instagram account. All within the 14 day deadline that they give. Just to get a random number to return these pants I have never worn. Ignored everywhere, not even a 'i'm looking into it' email. Judging from the other reviews of this place, I'm not alone in receiving less than the bare minimum of customer service. It never ceases to amaze me when I walk into a store and customer service is terrible. I went into Zoe's yesterday with the intention of purchasing at least one of the items I came to favor from window displays over the past few weeks. Upon entering, the saleswomen looked at me without a word, and continued talking to one another. I browsed a bit, because I generally don't need help shopping. If I see something I like, I try it on. If I have questions, I'll ask. But as I browsed toward the back, one of the saleswomen deliberately followed me, watching closely as if I would steal the entire rack of clothes and stuff them in my fitted bomber jacket. She saw me spot her and I literally said, "it amazes me that I'm watched so closely..." She then, reluctantly with an attitude, asked if I needed help. It was so dry and unwelcoming. I responded just as dry as she was to me--"No." The sweater I was eyeing, I put it back. There was another older woman in the shop and she, too, stared at me the entire time she browsed. I made eye contact with her several times because she couldn't keep her eyes off of me. It was because I was a young Black woman in their store with my Black mate. The women, including the shopper were white. They treated us as if we were going to lift the entire store, including the building--like we didn't belong there. I felt like I time traveled to the 1930s dixie south. This is not a shopping experience I'd like to have nor can I give my money in support of a well-established, racist store. If you are Black or support equality, don't even waste your time. It's disgusting that we still have to deal with racist people. It's utterly disgusting and exhausting. read more

The store is very cute and exactly my style. I was greeted super nicely by the store owner (I think she was at least!) I am latina by the way and didnt experience any form of racism (which does exist in other stores in Princeton, including the Dinky and my mom herself has experienced it-- right next door at Warby Parker!) I purchased a significant amount of work attire (e.g. a Burberry wool coat, suits, blouses, and designer handbags, etc.) at Zoe's while tolerating the snobbish sales support staff, including the self-professed owner (who happened to be there a few times). I opted to ignore the attitude because I opted for convenience. Not any longer. The convenience ended when Zoe's refused to honor the refund/replacement guarantee (which is stated on their own receipt) for a Miu Miu bag that I had purchased for $950.00. Long story short, (after having Zoe's send it out for repair and the bag falling apart all over again), I learned that Zoe's does not honor their refund/replacement guarantee. This applies to all of the designer labels they carry, which I learned the hard way. I ended up with a Miu Miu bag that was unusable because I didn't purchase it from a registered retailer (see below). I called the Miu Miu NYC store and was advised that had I purchased the handbag from them, they would have happily replaced and/or refunded me, whichever I preferred. The moral of my review: LADIES (and GENTS): IF you want to purchase a designer bag, DO NOT purchase it at Zoe's. Buy it at Nordstrom, SAKS, Bloomingdales, or at the Designer store itself, either on-line or take the train to NYC to a flagship store. Only then will you get your faulty item refunded or replaced without a blink. xo read more

Been here a few times when I was living in the area. This store has impressed me with their wide selection of designer clothing for Princeton. However, their prices aren't as great compared to online prices and even NY retailers. I saw the same bag at Barneys marked down 30% off, while Zoe was selling it for full price. They are pretty slow with their markdowns. As for sales associates, yes they are snotty and rude at times-depending how much money you are willing to pour into their store. They just want to feel high end too haha read more

This place is a joke-- it's obviously meant to be a high-end place but its service is everything but. I used to do sales at a comprably high end boutique in NYC. I always always greeted people-- every single person that walks in if I can help it. Why? Because it's a reflection of the shop. Even if it doesn't seem like the person could afford the items, you always want to put a good representation forward. Perhaps that person will tell another person. Perhaps, when that person gets their next paycheck, they'll remember the good service. There's no real excuse to NOT be welcoming to an incomer. Girls here are pretty cold...no smiles... gee whiz. What a beautiful shop of Chloe and Isabel marant must-haves and every boho, floral, simply basic but oh-so cool understated designer brand in between are here. The stylists are discerning- there are great pieces here. I didn't find too much air as other reviewers seem to. I didn't feel judged nor bothered but I wasn't offered too much help as I wasn't looking to buy either. read more

Can't believe I've never stopped in here before, considering I've walked around Princeton countless amount of times. Was walking around with my boyfriend and realized that I'd never been inside. Much to his dismay (aww poor baby) I was enthralled by the massive selection they had on display. The salespeople saw that I was with the boyfriend so they didn't hound me like some other shops will do, and were very helpful when I asked about online purchases. Overall, a nice little shop that any woman who's looking for some new nice clothing would enjoy. Slightly pricey, but hey, you get what you pay for. I'll be back soon WITHOUT the bf. I recently moved to Princeton and stumbled upon this store on Thursday night. No other store in this area are open this late. So I came in with my husband just to check the store out. As i walked in, i was immediately greeted with a smile by this guy. It's a friendly atmosphere in there, a little quiet, but very friendly. I love how the sales people are not aggressive, but they are still very helpful and friendly. There's no rush was intended when I was just looking around, but as soon as I needed help, they are very quickly came to help. I tried on a few dresses, and the guy who was helping me was amazing! He's very honest yet polite. Not only that, he showed me how the dress can be styled differently. He took his time to look for options for me and showed some dresses that I would never thought of trying. He has good eyes and personality. I ended up getting 2 dresses and a pair of shoes. The girl in with red hair was also very friendly. I just thought these people are so good to work with. As I walked out of the store, they thanked me and smiled. My husband who was with me the whole time was so impressed with the service we got. It's too bad that they don't carry menswear, my husband would love to shop here. read more

My friend is a fan of Zoe. After she mentioned that they were having a sale on shoes, I visited the store for the first time today. My friend bought a pair of Proenza Schouler wedges (and put a pink Miu Miu bow bag on layaway, I think), while I bought a pair of black studded patent Miu Miu sandals. It took a lot of self-control not to buy a Miu Miu belt, Margiela-esque black avant garde structured toggle coat on sale (Calvin Klein, surprisingly), and Rick Owens puffy jacket. I may go back... if they had further substantial cuts on their sale prices, I would have purchased all of those pieces. I hope they have more Rick Owens in stock soon--I can't believe a store in Princeton has Rick Owens in stock. During my first visit, the staff members were extremely friendly--all four of the women went out of their way to be friendly and helpful to me, even though I'd never been there before. My friend then invited me to a VIP event, where the experience was less immediately positive--I didn't think the dress that one of the customers was trying on looked good at all, but two of the staff girls gushed about how great she looked. I felt instantly suspicious and distrusting, since I've had experiences before where staff would try to sell to me even if the item wasn't a knock-out "must-have" in terms of how it flattered my body. The fashion show itself was nice, and we sat near a staff girl who was very friendly and kind throughout lunch. I'd walked past Zoe before but felt no desire to go in because the window displays aren't very attractive or edgy to me. However, it turns out that the store merchandise had a pretty good selection for young, edgy fashion enthusiasts who would prefer buying in-store than online. If you live in Princeton, give it a try! I usually shop pretty intensely in New York City and online, but I think I will visit Zoe again after my first experience there! read more

Designer boutique in town, Zoe. My friend Brandon is a shopaholic. He convinced me that the prices were reasonable for nice sophisticated brands. I thought I would trust his opinion. We walk in, and none of the sales people even acknowledged us. We walked around the store, and I thought everything was over priced. The sale stuff looked like it was a few seasons old, and around 20% off their retail does not really satisfy me. I get a bigger discount at Bloomingdales for the same inventory. I did not even really see anything I liked. I guess it was worth a try for them. If I lived in Princeton, and that was the only place to shop, I'd probably buy a ton of things from there. I grew up in Princeton, and started shopping at Zoe in the late 90's when it first opened. My mom, my sister and I got on great with the owner and the ladies who worked there at the time, and regularly shopped at Zoe as our "go-to" store in town. They were always super helpful and sweet, and there were a ton of brands to choose from that were otherwise very uncommon in Princeton. I was excited when they expanded to NYC and online, but as I have moved out of state I have not shopped there in recent years. I was so saddened and disappointed when I returned home this year for Christmas to peak in and see what was there. The selection, while still beautiful, was much more limited than I remember. I don't know if this is the impact of the economy or post-holiday season. What was most disheartening though, was the staff. I had no less than THREE sales people walk past my mother and I without a glance or "how can I help you". Finally, I asked one of the women if they had a dress in stock I had seen online. The response: "No. You can buy it online." Um, ok. I have known a lot of the staff over the years, and I have never seen a bunch more disinterested in their jobs and their customers. I took my business across the street to Rouge where the had a better selection, and much more personable staff. I know that Princeton can be a difficult place to work, but being a "high-end" boutique doesn't mean you have to treat customers with an attitude. They have APC. Not much, but some. There is nothing more to say. The other brands are a mixed bag, some great (Philip Lim), some sucking (Juicy "Couture" coming soon!!!!). Expensive, but there are sales. The shopgirls are nice. Just wear your clothes from Zoe when you go to Zoe. If you don't have clothes from Zoe, well, wear black. They'll help you. woahhh princeton stores get THIS NICE? it reminded me of scoop but not as trendy. The prices were pretty insane in here with their herve leger dresses (nice but all the more expensive ones 1.5k ones). The sales are decent since they are 70% off. The women here were super nice in general and helpful. It amazes me they have enough busines to stay open since its a pretty big place and they have lots of not to dressy but not college yuppie girl clothes. hrm... read more

I really like Zoe. While I have definitely been ignored while shopping there, I have never felt it to be done in a hostile way. Honestly I prefer just being left alone to browse by myself. I have never felt like the staff there has been hawkishly watching my every move, like at other luxury boutiques. Zoe has an incredible selection - everything from Jil Sander and Chloe to casual basics like Cheap Monday and James Perse. I love driving up from Philadelphia to check out Zoe, Blue Mercury, and Kitchen Kapers, which are all next to each other. Keep it up, Zoe! P.S. If you go into this place expecting the sales girls to be snobs, they will be. So lighten up and enjoy the best part of this wonderful store in Palmer Square - fashions you can't find anywhere else in the area and great prices during sale periods like in between seasons. Every great dress I've ever worn has been purchased from this place and the sales people are always happy to help - and to be honest about how you look. Sign up for their mailing list - they don't bug you with junk mail and they send coupons a few times a year that are well worth it. Bottom line - It is pricey, but not unexpectedly. Worst store in Princeton ever! My friends and I went into the store yesterday at around 3 and the salespeople were the worst salespeople I have ever come across. The first time we were there, they totally ignored us and did not help up at all. I asked one of them if they had a shirt in my size and they said look online! About an hour later we meet up with another friend and she was african american. The moment we walked into the store 2 saleswomen started following us around, both of them were 50 year old white women. I thought it was that their service had improved but then this very rude sales lady came up to us and told us that we had to leave the store! Although we were a bunch of 15 year olds, and we probably would not have bought anything there, that is no reason to embarrass someone and kick them out of your store. We had not caused any trouble and none of the other customers complained about us. So there was only one explanation that she didn't follow us around or kick us out the first time but did the second time, my friend that joined us the second time was black. The lady was racist and extremely rude. Please NEVER go to the store unless you like being disrespected and looked down on. read more

I have shopped here for many years, since the merchandise is really lovely. However, the customer service definitely is NOT. After putting up with the haughty attitudes of the owner and employees for who knows how many years, I have decided that I will not be returning anymore. The straw that broke the camel's back was a recent experience I had when I was shopping for jeans. I found that for every single style that I was interested in, they were out of stock of size 27 (my usual size). When I inquired about this, the employee explained that she was also a size 27, and she bought most of them, and no, they would not order that size for me. She proceeded to pressure me into buying a pair in size 26, telling me how tiny and skinny I was. When I got home, I realized that these jeans REALLY were not my size and she had just been trying to cover her own ass. I tried to return them a few days later, but surprise surprise, Zoe does not take returns. Overall, the merchandise is gorgeous but they do not have a lot of stock, and the employees are obnoxious. read more

The service online is just as horrible as the service in the store apparently. I ordered a pair of Repetto's in 9. When I was sitting on the site, the size was there. I ordered it and didn't think twice. Their people fat fingered the address and sent it to the wrong address. Thank goodness I caught it time and when I finally tried the shoes, I realized they were the wrong size. When the store finally returned my call, the lady refused to return or exchange the shoes and essentially told me it was now my problem! Are you kidding me?! You stick it to your customers because the website ran outta sizes, completed the order, and you made your money so screw you? Don't shop in the store or online! read more

Terrible customer servicer and advice - they just want to make a sale. Though the shop is high end, the buyer must beware. After telling the manager of the store that I was searching for an everyday bag, I ended up buying a designer laptop bag/clutch. After just 2 uses, it faded and though they said it was repaired, I have doubts. The manager claims this 450$ bag's fading after 2 uses was "normal wear and tear - that it was not defective. I have no recourse as they refused to offer a store credit. I wish i would have gone to Nordstrom. UGH - read more

I ordered the DVF Zarita dress online Wednesday afternoon, and the dress arrived to my house in Vancouver, Canada by Friday. Amazingly fast service. The dress was nicely wrapped up in a garment bag and lined with tissue paper. Will definitely shop online with Zoe again. read more
