My daughter and I showed up here at 8:50 pm and the owner was so nice and accommodating. He answered our questions kindly and we ordered the veggie and mixed plates. He said it would be about 15-20 minutes and offered us a free soda which we declined. We don't mind waiting for freshly prepared food. He gave us an order of falafel while we waited. Simply put, the food is delicious and the owner is very nice. I had the chicken shish kabob entree and my boyfriend had ground lamb and beef kabob. Including a lettuce salad and some hummus in the entree was a nice touch. We both enjoyed the dinners very much. I took some of mine home for lunch as the entree is quite generous. The rice is outstanding. We did not get dessert. I would like to see more variety of cold beverages that are not soda (maybe lemonade?). This is a good place for take out, although there are some tables. This is a fast food place, so the dining area is of that level of ambiance, and you will have to be patient and enjoy the smells for a few minutes. It is not hard to find at all! It's in the corner of an L-shaped strip mall at Army Trail and County Farm Rds, SW corner next to the tire center on the west end. The restaurant is "slightly" recessed, so you don't see the sign until you're closer to it, but it isn't between buildings. I waited a few weeks to try out J Beez and I was not disappointed. The food here is fantastic. I only had the time for carry but will certainly come back to dine in. The inside of the restaurant was spotless and the owner (who I presumed), greeted me very warmly. He was excited to talk about his food and asked if I had any questions about the menu. I ordered the Combo dinner and chicken tender sandwich. The meat in the combo tasted very fresh and was cooked perfectly. The rice, which was yellow, tasted very good and the salad was crisp and fresh. The chicken tender sandwich was about a foot long and had a good amount of chicken for the price. The chicken was again cooked to perfection and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. I had to try the falafel as this should be a given to be good and it was also cooked to a crisp perfection. The hot sauce was good & spicy and the tahini tasted homemade. I will definitely come here again and bring the whole family. If there was a rating available in the minus category, I would select that. This restaurant gives zabiha halal restaurants and any decent business an awful name. The owner swindled us! I don't like writing bad reviews at all, but unfortunately I am compelled since this restaurant basically took my money and gave me garbage food - literally, because I dumped their food in the bin that's how disgusting it was. It was like play-dough! I spent so much time on the phone with the owner trying to kindly request him to refund me my money as the food did not live up to the awesome ratings one sees online. He had a phony answer and lies for everything and kept arguing and would not budge. He kept twisting my words and his rationale for the bad food and service. The customer service along with the food was horrendous. I could make better food with a blindfold on - heck, I think a little kid could make better food. I have frequented halal and Mediterranean restaurants quite a bit and American restaurants too and I have to say this must be the worst restaurant I have experienced. My husband drove all the way to Carol Stream to try this food out since all the reviews and pics look amazing. Unfortunately, the food was not edible at all - the rice was extremely soft and flavorless, the meat was a weird mush of material, there was a crazy and sickening amount of salt in the food. Needless to say, all the food went in the trash - my kids were still hungry, my husband and I were annoyed and were 16 dollars and some change poorer lol. Also, they served salad when there was an e coli breakout in the news! Please save your finances - save for a night out at a classy restaurant - take care of your health and time - go anywhere but do not waste a second or a cent at this so called restaurant. I know this review won't make a difference to the owner who kept bragging about how people love the food and he has never got a complaint and that he would rather have me write a bad review than give me a refund (by the way, if your business is doing so well and you pride yourself on honesty in your business why can't you give a 16 bucks refund - how cheap and pathetic can a business be!? - how will you lose out by giving a customer their money back?! I would have had more respect for the owner if he would have owned up to his mistake and been kind enough to return me my money but forget about the food being gross - the fact that he has no problem taking peoples hard earned money like that is what would keep me from ever going back or recommending this place - other restaurants give customers their money back if the food is substandard ) but it makes me feel better to tell the truth on this platform and save others from the same disappointment. Please, if you are a restaurant owner take your job seriously and honestly, mistakes happen all the time and that is a part of life. My husband ordered the beef shish kabob entree. All meals are made fresh upon ordering and it really makes a difference. My husband who doesn't like hummus loved the hummus from here, it was creamy and had a nutty note to it, which was soooooo much better than the store bought stuff. GF and I had lunch this past Saturday. It was our 3rd time here. I like that they tell you up front that it will take 25 minutes or so for pick up. Everything is cooked fresh even the pita. We came here for the first time tonight for dinner and got the chicken kabobs and lamb/beef kabobs. The meat was very good and comes over a generous amount of rice, a side of hummus and small salad and pita bread. We ate inside the restaurant, very clean and owner was very nice. We followed that with the chicken, lamb, and beef shish kabobs. Very tasty and perfectly cooked. For a finishing touch we had the baklava. Yummy! The entire staff was friendly and welcoming.
