I'm not sure how I stumbled across this place, but I had them bookmarked and then they'd recently got a good amount of social media buzz going on so I decided to drop by. They're an hour away from my home so that's another reason why it took me awhile to get up this way. Monday night about 830/9pm I stopped by not realizing they were take out only. Bummer! Anywho, I ordered a small sausage/pepperoni well done, and extra sauce. (Asked for dark cheese) We also ordered a small deep dish sausage well done pizza. The guy tells us 45mins to prepare the deep dish. Ok, fine. So we leave and return at 10pm. We open the pizza in the car and the cheese is NOT well done. They loss 2 stars right there. Its a simple request/instruction. Smh. The 2 pies were fresh/hot, but they weren't anything to write home about. Someone said Domino's was better. Ayooooo let me just start out by saying this place has one of the biggest pizzas I've ever seen! We ordered the 24 inch and that bad boy almost didn't fit in the car. I've heard great things about this place especially from my people up in Roger's Park. We ordered online and the pizza was ready at the time that they said. It's really just a take out spot so don't plan on dining in. They do have parking on the side which is nice and they're literally steps away from the Morse Red line stop. Okay, I haven't tried the pizza yet, I've only eaten the Italian Beef with melted provolone cheese which is pretty darn good. I come here because they're open late. The last time I went the line was out the door of this delivery/take out only spot. I was greeted by a couple of nice ladies behind the counter. I ordered the Italian Beef with provolone and a couple of au jus on the side. Since I had to travel with it, I don't won't an overly soggy sandwich. I forgot to get hot giardiniera but luckily I had some at home. I got home and it was still nice and warm. I added the au jus and dipped my sandwich. The meat was tender and flavorful. Easily top five best pizzas Chicago. Sort of expensive but you will be fully satisfied given the size of the slices or bigger pizzas. Great balance of flavor yet nothing is overpowering. Pizzas seem to be made to order & were piping hot. I wish they were closer to downtown though. Took me damn near a half hour to get here & damn near an hour to get home with a 20 min prep time in between. Menu was extensive to say the least, burgers, shrimp, pasta, wings. When I used to literally live right around the block from JB's I made myself a regular. Even set up my own routine...go in order my calamari, grab a slice of sausage while I wait and by the time I'm finished my order no of calamari is ready! Seriously great food! Pizza is obviously the highlight but don't sleep on their calamari, fried chicken or their rib tips. I am pleased to say JB Alberto's continues to provide an excellent product and service. I order their vegetarian deluxe thin crust with sausage, pepperoni and extra sauce, well done. Any time you order something with lots of extras and specific instructions there is a higher probability mistakes will be made. My pizza arrived cooked to perfection in exactly the time specified (45m). You can have the best recipes and freshest ingredients wasted if you don't have a good chef and quality control processes in place with a focus on service. While this is, sadly, quite a common problem in the hospitality industry today, JB Alberto's continues to excel. Kudos! read more

I was visiting Chicago and this was the pizza my brother ordered for delivery. I was thinking the deep dish would be like Giordano's or Lou Malnati's but it wasn't. It had a thick crust that was more like a pie, true, but was missing a good solid layer of sauce and just wasn't as hearty as the other deep dish brands I mentioned previously. At times this is really good pizza. That is my issue. I ordered a pizza with extra sauce. The extra sauce was on the pizza as requested however it taste like it was straight out the can. I spent over $30 on a pizza that it is difficult to eat. I don't know if the request for EXTRA created the problem? But it's the inability to serve good food on a consistent basis that enables me to take breaks that last a year or two. I believe it was 2023 the last time I had ordered from them.
