Best Pizza in Fairport, Perinton, Penfield... Rochester(?). Dough and sauce are great. We usually just go with sausage and pepperoni but all the other toppings are good too. They don't cheap out in the mozzarella cheese either. We get Chicken fingers and fries for our daughter, fries are brew style, really good. Chicken fingers are good not great. The wings are expensive, but good. The house wing sauce is a bit too thick and tomato-y. Get the buttered Buffalo style sauce or the garlic parm- instead, both good. The garbage plate is solid as well. Live this place. read more

My first time and I must admit I'm a fan! There are a lot of pizza joints out there and very few actually stand out, but this is one of them. Located in a small house-like building out in Perinton, the inside is a small but inviting little joint. Behind the counter is a large chalkboard menu of all their delightful options written in colorful chalk which really pops out at you---and let me tell you there are options galore! From various pizzas and calzones to fresh sandwiches and apps--this menu will NOT disappoint. Behind the counter leads to where all the magic happens--the kitchen--which appeared to be a very open area with windows which was kinda cool. We got our food to go, but started with an app of pizza logs which we were able to eat while we waited---only took about 5 minutes. They were light and fresh for pizza logs---which sounds counter intuitive, but you just have to try them---not greasy at all. We ordered the "Meatiest" pizza which had all my favorite pizza meats (pepperoni, sausage, bacon...) and made our own calzone with broccoli, pepperoni, and pineapple. The verdict? Stellah. Pizza was fairly light for a non-thin crust. It was very apparent that their ingredients were super fresh. The dough of the crust was a little chewy making it difficult to cut with a knife as I tried with a couple bites, but still quite good. The sauce a hint of sweetness but the overall amount of toppings to cheese to crust ratio was well balanced. The calzone was a different creature with an abundance of riccota spewing from its guts with every cut. I didn't mind. When I get calzones at other spots, I feel like there comes a point in the calzone where I'm basically just dipping bread into marinara. To my delight, almost every bite was met with at very least some kind of cheese if not also some "topping" making it less bland and less dry than other places. Overall I'm a huge fan of J & L's Pizza! All the items we ordered were great, served relatively quickly, tasted extremely fresh! My only complaint was that my stomach was not big enough to fit more deliciousness in. Staff was super friendly and they are outfitted with an Ipad checkout device which was quick, clean, and easy. The pizza was very good, chewy crust and fresh sauce and ingredients. We tried their wings with 2 sauces. First was the House Medium Buffalo Sauce, which was rich and tasted like it had BBQ sauce in it. The thickness of the sauce took away from the crisp of the wing. We also tried the Buttery Buffalo Sauce, which was more of a traditional sauce. This sauce kept the crisp of the Wing and also had a better heat to the sauce. read more

There bread toasted/grilled is awesome. If it's not toasted, the bread is too 'bready.' The BLT's were terrible. They put a pound of shredded lettuce, crumbled bacon and paper-thin tomatoes on it. Couldn't even tell there were tomatoes on it. read more

Wasn't really sure what to expect. Felt like pizza, So it was worth trying out, And we were in the area. We ordered a large thin crust pepperoni. We didn't want it cut into squares because we both like to have a little crust on each piece/slice. We asked if they could cut it into triangular pieces and make them larger slices if possible; They said they would do that. The pizza came out with really thin slices, Which wasn't a big deal. The crust was extremely wide, In areas almost exceeding a quarter of the pizza, But it still looked like a decent pie. The dough quality was decent, But the crust seemed maybe a bit under baked and too chewy. The cheese was fine, And they put the right amount on. The sauce was very interesting. I have never tasted a sauce anything like J & L's. It was actually pretty good. The sauce was thinner and had more of an orange appearance than a deep rich red, But it was vibrant and unique tasting. The price for a large pizza seemed fair priced, If not better than many other local pizza stores. Overall I thought it was okay. read more

I've found so many bad pizza places in this area. I was excited when I found J&Ls! This is the best pizza that I have found in Rochester. The food is good, and the prices are pretty comparable to most of the other places around. The staff has been incredibly welcoming each time that I have gone in as well. As far as pizzas go J&Ls has some of the best around right behind joes but in the sandwich department I would definitely take a pass . I ordered a buffalo sub with onions,peppers bacon and when I picked it up I opened the wrapper to a sloppy distorted sandwich looking thing which tasted abominable. The buffalo sauce is not buffalo at all but a spicy bbq at best . There was no bacon on it and the peppers and onions were raw not cooked . On top of that I asked for very light blue cheese as to much of it can ruin a sub and the decided to absolutely drench this thing to the point where the bread was falling apart in my hands so needless to say if your looking for a good sub go to wegmans down the street or if your looking for a buff chick sub I would surprisingly order from marks as I think it's the best thing on there menu read more

Ordered here for the first time after working in the area for years. I ordered the J&L sandwich. The menu says fried chicken tenders yet mine came with a rather old piece of grilled chicken. We shared onion rings which were good. My co worker ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. She said her sandwich was ok but her fries were amazing. I may try them one more time & request that they make my sandwich as it says on the menu read more

The pizza is greasy tasteless cardboard and the staff can be really rude. I live just down the street from this place and my kids used to order pizza or wings there from time to time. If I had just gotten the pizza and nothing else, it would have received a 5 star review. The pizza was wonderful and had a very tasty sauce and a generous portion of cheese. It also has those tiny pepperonis that curl up! However, I got some wings with it and was not impressed. I ordered some wings with medium buffalo sauce, and what I got was something that resembled a thick, mild-heat BBQ sauce. Not being a fan of BBQ flavor on my wings, I was let down. I took a look at their menu afterward and noticed the sauces they offer are mild, hot, atomic, and a buttered buffalo sauce. I'm assuming the buttered buffalo sauce is more of the traditional buffalo wing sauce than what I got. It's possible they could have given me the wrong order of wings, but I was so un satisfied with the wings to risk giving it another try. read more

We've tried a large number of their pizzas, eaten a few Subs and consumed copious Trash Plates. Their Pepperoni Pizza is the best I've ever had in the Rochester area, perhaps ever. We've tried the Mediterranean, the sausage and even our own creations of Spinach, Broccoli, Feta, Tomato and Chicken on a Garlic/White Pizza base. They are not as cheap as Domino's etc, but I won't eat anything other than J&L's. I have to drive almost 20 minutes to get there and it's worth the trip EVERY TIME. I am not a friend of anyone that works there, but every time I walk in, I'm treated like family. It's an awesome pizzeria, with great food and fantastic people working there. read more

So we were out doing last minute school shopping and the meltdown was minutes away. The clock was ticking , my daughter was going to flip out if I didn't feed her soon!!! We raced to subway, the credit card machine wasn't working!!!! I packed the kids into the car and we raced over to the deli down the road... NO PARKING!!!!!! I have only seconds to act, my mind is racing what do I do??? Suddenly I remember, we passed a pizza place on the way to the deli with the tiny parking lot. We pull into a parking spot and walk inside. We are greeted with a friendly hello and a smile. I order our food with some special requests for picky eaters, they are taken with a nod and a smile, no eye rolling or "no substitution" rules like other places. I get the kids and myself settled and set them up with drinks. Before I can breathe a sigh of relief our food has arrived!!!! Wonderful service, great food and great people!!!! This place has amazing pizza. Their pepperoni pizza is the way pizza should be. The sauce is is tasty, the crust is crisp, but the best part is the pepperoni. They use those tiny pepperoni's that form a little bowl and collect the grease and have a little spice to them. I love a good greasy pizza, that's the best type of pizza.
