Rob took the time to show us what was wrong with the dryer, showed us where the old heating element was broken, and how it differed from the replacement part. He couldn't have been more professional and kind. The booking, estimate, and payment were all handled by text message. While that's certainly convenient, it also made the whole experience feel a bit impersonal. I'm not old, but I still value some human contact and connection with the company I'm hiring. The tipping prompt felt inappropriate. When I went to pay the invoice, there was an option to add a tip for the repair tech on top of the quoted price. I really dislike this practice. Restaurant servers depend on tips as part of their income; repair technicians should be paid an adequate salary by the company, without the customer being nudged to subsidize their pay. After a thorough inspection, we decided that after 5 years of cleaning and maintenance on the Dyson vacuums, it was prudent to purchase a new German-made Sebo vacuum because it came with a 7-year warranty (that was extended by this store to 10 years because they stand by their products, service, and customers) and it was built to last like the vacuums of yesteryear. The Dysons are made to last 2-3 years with built-in obsolescence, so you'll find yourself dropping $350-400 plus annual maintenance. After making the decision to purchase, the gentleman assembled the new vacuum for us, thoroughly demonstrated how to use it and the features/attachments, and gave us extra canister bags for free. He also offered to clean our old Dyson (that worked somewhat intermittently that we will use as a "spare" in the basement) for free since we made the purchase of a new vacuum. When I returned to the store two weeks later to pick up the cleaned Dyson, he remembered me and asked how my boys were doing, and he showed me how he discovered a crack in the hose and just went ahead and replaced it with a part from another Dyson vacuum someone discarded. Again, for free! I've come to this store for cleaning/repair/maintenance on my vacuums for many years now, and they have always been fair and honest and service has been impeccable.
