Food was ok. Service at the bar was terrible. So bad they brought appetizers. They can do better.

It's been ages since I been to J. Alexander's but I was not disappointed! We stopped in for lunch today. The ambiance is always nice at J's always feel under dressed because the servers look well dressed. McKenna was our server very friendly service with a smile. Our food was very delicious! We ordered the steak with fries, glazed pork chop with mashed potatoes with broccoli, and the prime rib dip sandwich with fries. Each dish was flavorful and well seasoned. My wife said this has been one of the best prime rib sandwiches she has had in a while. We truly enjoyed our food. Will visit again soon. read more

Absolutely a 10/10 place! Everyone who works there from the servers to the host were SO kind and helpful. Also all the food is delicious there, genuinely there isn't anything on the menu that isn't good. Ambiance is also great with a mix of tables and comfy booths. J. Alexander's is new to Naples this season. Made reservations (highly recommended) and grateful to sit in Olivia's section. She was welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. The salads are a good size to share, and the in-house made Kiawah Island dressing was good enough to eat with a spoon!! Nummy! My salmon was hot (no heat lamps here), moist and tasty. Delicious in-house made remoulade on the side. The loaded baked potato was large and piping hot. Olivia helped us make the best choice for dessert: fresh, and refreshing, key lime pie. It was difficult to choose from the yummy dessert options. Overall, for us it was a 5 star experience. Give it a try..and ask for Olivia! read more

I'm shocked & hopefully this is a one time occurrence. We were a party of 4. Every order was delivered incorrectly. Food was cold. Wait staff seemed to be confused and ill prepared. Our waiter was kind and did offer us 1 free dessert for compensation. It will be a long time before I return. read more

We dined at J Alexanders in Naples tonight. First, they take reservations - bravo ! We were seated about 5 minutes after arrival. Service was a little confusing - between ordering drinks, ordering and getting our food and paying our bill we were serviced by 4 different staff members. Some were more attentive than others but it seemed to work. Having been eating fish for months this winter, I opted for the French Dip sandwich - thinly sliced roast beef served on a baguette with horse radish. The beef was plentiful and very tender. I paired my sandwich with a baked potato. My wife chose the Brasserie Chicken, a panko crusted pounded chicken breast topped with lemon butter and served with smashed red potato and broccoli. This too was a hit. I might have graded J Alexanders as a 5 star but the noise level in the restaurant made it difficult to carry on a conversation. All said, we return as there were other items on the menu I want to try. read more

Yesterday, 1/10/26, we had a 6:45 reservation. They sat us by a long table of screaming drunks. We ordered. After half hour, and no food, I asked for the manager and asked to move. He promised to move us to a booth and we would watch two booths that might be vacated soon. The booth was available and the manager was in the kitchen moving plates and our waiter tried to move us and he was argued with by someone and we lost the table. After 1 hour of nonsense and watching plates go by, we had no food. I got another manager and said my head hurts and we are leaving. She said I'll check your food. We were both absolutely worn out and I said we're leaving. She came back with a bag and said we won't charge. REALLY!! How did the food appear all of a sudden??? Never had such terrible service!! The noise was awful and screaming drunks is not a good place to be!!!! No excuse either for waiting over an hour for dinner!!! read more

I have always been a fan of the J Alexander's in Michigan. In fact, I like to call the J Alexander's French Dip (Double Au Jus, no cheese, no Horseradish) my execution meal - If I had one meal left on Earth, this is it. I was thrilled to see a J Alexander's open up 5 miles from my place in Florida. I went to this this recently opened establishment for my 57th birthday last week. Ricky, the bartender, took our drink and food order immediately. The food arrived quickly and this was the best J Alexander's meal my wife and I have ever had. Mind you, we've eaten here more than 50 times over the past 25 years. The food was exceptional. The atmosphere was exceptional. The service was exceptional. As we were gearing up to leave, Ricky heard it was my birthday and brought out a card and a piece of carrot cake. Also exceptional. read more

Have eaten at J Alexander's twice. I sat at the bar the first time and in a booth the second time. First on Saturday night and second at 2:00 on a Sunday - The food has been a soiid . Our waitress at the bar was attentive as was our waitress at the booth. I think it is unfortunate that their grand opening was chaotic with substandard acoustics and some untrained staff. Since opening the restaurant has added ceiling panels to absorb sound. read more

Went for dinner with a party of 8 and seated before all our guests arrived at 7:30. All of our dinners and appetizers were excellent. We were not rushed. She was SO kind, helpful, and made the best Pear Martini! We ordered, and the food was generous (seriously, we could have split a dinner). The food was one of the best dinners we have had in a while. The menu prices were on point for a Semi fine dining experience. From the ambiance to our bar staff - Sara, Brent, and Carlos... we enjoyed every bit! First visit to J Alexander's in Naples. Wanted to compare against Lexington Ky location. The food was excellent. Glad to see it was consistent regardless of location. My only ding is that we were seated in a table adjacent to the bar. The bar area is all ceramic tile and the noise level was very high. It would be helpful to have carpet under the tables across from the bar. I think that would help deaden the sound. We love J Alexander's and am happy we have one to go to when in Naples. read more

My trout almondine came out spicy with no almonds. No almondine sauce! They offered to take it back and add almonds! They don't know what almondine is! Everything was over salted including my sides! It was disappointing. I sent my trout back and got the cod special. . It was horrible too. But I will say the bartender and manager were extremely apologetic and compensated me with a drink. Ambiance: 10 stars for such a beautiful restaurant. It has a "WOW" factor. Cozy, warm, dark and romantic. Service hopefully will be improved. Had several servers in one sitting and some were great and some not so great. Would give an order for drinks or to replace table light and they would walk away and never return. 3 stars for food. Food: menu was exciting to me because it has several chicken breast dishes. Unfortunately the chicken quality is terrible. Its not chicken breast, its breaded processed chicken loaf patties possibly flash frozen or glazed. I was mortified that a restaurant I would have assumed is 5 stars would have such low quality and very poor tasting chicken. The sides were delicious. The lemon butter caper sauce- delicious. My husband said the salmon was delicious. Very much hoping they re-examine the chicken. Only 3 desserts to choose from. Carrot cake is warm which they don't tell you and should. Very disappointed in our most recent visits to J. Alexander's. This has always been a favorite spot for me and my husband. We've been to several of their locations across the country and have always enjoyed our meals and felt the quality of the food and the portion size were worth the price. Unfortunately things have changed. Our last visit was when we noticed the size of the French Dip sandwich was smaller than before. We didn't complain because everything else was fine and we were with friends. We had met the manager Luke on a previous visit so when we arrived last night we wanted to mention it to him. We asked our server if he was there and he said yes. We saw our server talk to him but he never came to the table. We both ordered the pork chop which we have ordered several times in the past and it was noticeably smaller. It used to be huge and we would easily get a second meal out of it which always justified the price. I asked the server how long he had worked there and he said 7 months. I asked him when did they cut the portion size down and he looked at ours and said they're usually bigger. It must be whoever cut the chops that morning. He left to talk to someone but when he came back he said something to the effect that's how they are. The manager never bothered to come to the table. That was really off putting. We asked for our check and left. Everything is getting smaller since they opened this location. Even the carrot cake used to be a bigger piece. The food is still good which is why I gave 3 stars but I doubt I will go back. There are many other choices in Naples. I hate when you expect one thing and get another. I'm not sure if it's just this location or if they're cutting portions across the board. I don't mind spending money if I feel it's worth it, but for me J. Alexander's is just overpriced for what you get. read more

My husband and I have had the extreme pleasure of dining at J Alexanders twice now. Each time, we were well taken care of, initially by Zach and most recently, Blake. Not only was service exceptional but the food was too. My only complaint is that after our first visit, I sent a handwritten note to the attention of management telling them about our experience and how Zach went above and beyond. Well, we went back and sat at the bar. I ordered the trout almandine. It was pretty dry, no brown butter, and no brócoli is like this restaurant can't get it together. My husband had the tuna and it was pretty good. The gentlemen next to us had the pork, and he had to call the manager because it was mushy. it was removed from his bill, but the manager told him they get it cooked and they just heat it. That is why is mushy. wow. At thise prices not what you want to hear. read more

Let's just start with the noise. It's loud. We've watched in anticipation as they've refurbished a Buca di Beppi. The continuous parade of wait staff makes you feel like you should be well attended. Nope. They keep parading but dont seem to be on top of things. If you've ever seen "Hello Dolly"it's like that-- nonstop. First I asked for a regular martini but was told they had run out of vermouth. So I asked for just vodka with some olive juice and regular olives. I got vodka on ice. Nothing more. My husband got a wedge salad-- delicious. But at the same time they brought everything else out. They did take it back and told us they remade our entrees. That was good. My trout almondine was delicious albeit a bit spicy. The accompanying couscous was mushy and overcooked but tasted good. My husband Southern chicken was disappointing. Chicken tenders. Fries look great but were way overseasoned. Prices were pretty normal for Naples --about $55 pp. No dessert for us. Portions are large. It's not their second week so hopefully they'll work out the kinks. read more
