9-2-2024 We all had another late night heading back home and always to our surprise, MOST places are closed by 9! This place stays open til 10! Thank God! It was 5 of us, got there around 9:20pm. Our waitress was Maddie. What a beautiful and pleasant young lady!! Very attentive too! I will request her next time we stop by! We ALL love the atmosphere at this restaurant! The food??? wow! Exceptional!! Everything is just superb! Even though we got there late, close to closing, we are never pressured to eat and leave so they can close! That means a lot! We truly enjoyed it and we will return when we are out of town again! Thank you all from our waitress to the cooks! Excellent job!! Kudos!

STEAK MAUI with asparagus

J Alexander's was exactly what I needed today! My server, Jamie was heaven sent and the absolute best. I always enjoy the welcoming atmosphere. But tonight it was truly the service and food that made our day. My hubby ordered the prime rib. I didn't even have to chew it and it was so flavorful. This is coming from someone who likes their steak "cooked." I ordered the Steak Maui and the taste was impeccable. It was perfectly prepared. I can't forget the horseradish cream sauce. I could drink it!!!! So glad we decided to come out and dine. We will be back.

My family and I came on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated immediately. Our waiter was super friendly but kept forgetting our drinks. We ordered the Mac and Cheese but the waiter brought fries. When we addressed this, he brought us the Mac and cheese but still charged us for the fries. The prime rib is always good- I've been here a few times. It's very soft and tender and is good on its own. No sauce or salt is needed. The crab dip was very rich, cheesy and had huge chucks on crab meat! There's plenty of parking. The ambience is very classy, though most were dressed casually. This is located next to the mall, so convenient after a day of shopping.

A great option near the mall - I was generally pleased with everything I tried on my first visit to J Alexander's. Service was really excellent with an elegant restaurant interior.

Another great meal here! I ordered the Mr. Jack's Chicken Fingers from the starter menu and it was the perfect portion for a meal. The chicken was fried to perfection and seasoned just right. The fries were fantastic as they always are here. I love that they're shoe-string style. Both the mustard and BBQ dipping sauces for the chicken tenders were excellent. I would definitely order this again!

As soon as Ii walked in, I loved it. The smell of the firewood they use fills the entire restaurant. Speaking of which, it's upscale contemporary.... Like what you would expect to find at a nice steak focused restaurant. It's a bit dark and I suggest you wear something nice but they will accept your money no matter what you have on. The prices are on par with food of this quality but I don't think it's over-priced. I enjoyed one of the specials: Montreal ribeye. Dry aged with Montreal seasoning (whatever that is) and a side of loaded mashed potatoes. Excellent. I also managed to sample the same cut off the regular menu which is marinated. It was very good as well. I'm not sure which I liked better. Either way... You can't lose. Oh. And the wait staff was excellent as well. I'll definitely be back.

I had the marinated ribeye. It was a different flavor and delicious! Kind of a citrus teriyaki taste. Excellent service too.

Do they serve prime rib for lunch?

Yes 8oz (prime rib sandwich), 12oz and 16oz. Also can add additional ounces for 2.50 per ounce. So theoretically you can order any size prime rib 8oz and up at any time of the day

Any place that is known for their oysters will always get my vote, even when they opened during the height of COVID. They still managed to push along and became one of the city's most well-known seafood destinations. Fast forward to 2025 and it's now closed. While I'm disappointed, I can't say I'm surprised. The place went from being the new kid in town to looking dated in a short handful of years. The staff was always a mixed bag, with subpar service outpacing the occasional outstanding experiences. It was always so spacious in here but rarely full, that I never understood the need for the hostess to give my large groups of people a hard time about not making reservations. (#1) The oysters are and will always be the star of the show. I love a good raw oyster and they seemed to have a decent batch each time, however the charbroiled ones were the ones to get. They were buttery, a little messy, and heavily seasoned with lots of salty parmesan on top. It was sometimes the only worth ordering given how inconsistent the rest of the menu was. Some other go-tos were the seafood pasta, lobster mac, and even the occasional gator tacos but even those dishes had their bad days. I was actually pretty impressed with their ribeye, but was quite disappointed with the boudin balls, gumbo, and some of their fried shrimp. In addition to service snafus and inconsistent food, the prices were always a tough pill to swallow. I'm aware seafood will forever carry a premium price tag, but when other seafood places charge a lot less for better quality output, then it becomes a point of contention. While I do hope they find a reason to re-open in Baton Rouge, I think I'll stick to their original location in Metairie. Great atmosphere but quickly turned. My menu was dirty and in fact half of it was illegible I mean bad. When waiter, Jon, finally came he agreed an out the menu and said he'd be right back with new one and trash the other which I said yep that shouldn't have gotten past the hostess. He never came back with another menu so I used my grandsons to figure out what I wanted. We ordered after waiting a good while for him to come back more than 15 minutes. And the place was not busy. I've waited tables, managed and trained waitstaff so I'm pretty aware of what is just neglect. This was. He was a bit older than other waitstaff and I would have figured more seasoned. So count this as 2 strikes. Food finally delivered by someone else which is fine and glad it go there because we were hungry. Pretty unremarkable although it looked good. I won't go into what we had but it was main dishes. And he recommended as well. Next my grandson was out of water and we kept looking for Jon so we could get more water. Strike 3. He never came by. Not even to see if our food was good or we needed anything. I did want to order a dozen order Traditional Oysters after going and getting another menu myself. When I did there were a stack of menus and no sh t the dirty unreadable menu I had was on top of all of them. So much for throwing it away. I had finished my meal at this point and I asked another waiter if he could get us some water and he said sure and disappeared. I water station was right behind our booth. He never returned. Frustrated I got up to go to the bar to get some water and a female waitress was right there and I asked her if she might get us some water. She immediately said no problem and got it right there. Thank you to her. Finally Jon came by and said hey another waiter said we needed water but saw we already had it. I told him my experience in restaurants and have eaten in many high end fine quality establishments and this was by far the worst experience I'd ever had and went Over in detail everything above. I would had asked for a manager but I wanted Jon to understand his shortcomings and disappointment in the experience we had. So no, I wouldn't say I'd never go back but it would be after I had tried lots of other places. Disappointed doesn't quite cover it and I sure wish I'd of been able to get the oysters as a fellow dinner said they were great.

I will say the decor of the place doesn't quite match the goodness of the food. It felt like the place was probably busy due to graduation weekend at LSU so I won't hold that against them. I will focus on the food, which was amazing. We had pretty much all the appetizers and they were all fantastic, especially the oysters. I ordered the catfish which was cooked to perfection. Seasoned well, not overly greasy and not overly hard. Perfection I tell ya. We also had the steak Oscar style, you will see in the photos how amazing that steak looked but it tasted even better. Lastly the sweet potatoes were so good. It was pretty much my dessert because they were so good but sweet. The server, I know he had to be tired since it was graduation weekend but he did really well, and kept up with us like a true pro. I hate I didn't get is name.

A True Hidden Gem - Lagniappe Steak & Seafood (Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA)…read more I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lagniappe Steak & Seafood on Bluebonnet, and it is without question one of Baton Rouge's best-kept restaurant secrets. On my first visit this past Wednesday, I ordered the fried shrimp and catfish lunch special, and immediately knew this place was different. The seafood was perfectly seasoned--not overly salted or heavily breaded, just a delicate, crisp coating that highlighted the freshness and natural flavor. The servers were exceptionally professional--friendly and attentive without being overly familiar, which I truly appreciate. What took the experience to the next level was when Anas, the manager or owner, personally came out to check on my meal. She was tall, poised, and stunning--truly looked like she could walk a high-fashion runway in Paris! Her elegance and hospitality added a touch of class you just don't see often anymore. I was so impressed that I returned two days later--the day after Thanksgiving--to try the grilled pork chop I've been hearing people rave about. Let me tell you... WOW. It was phenomenal. Juicy, tender, perfectly grilled with picture-perfect char marks--honestly felt like eating a premium steak. I give it a 10/10 without hesitation. On that visit, Jennifer was my server and she was fantastic--attentive, warm, and highly professional. Now here's the part that blows people's minds: these incredible meals were part of the lunch special, priced similarly to what most folks spend at a fast-food restaurant for a two-piece combo with fries and a drink. Same price--completely different level of dining. And for those who don't know: I've traveled all over the world and I am the ultimate foodie--something my followers know well. I live for great cuisine, authentic flavor, and memorable dining experiences. So when I tell you this place is worth your time, believe me. --- When in Baton Rouge, go to Lagniappe Steak & Seafood. You will not be disappointed by the ambience, service, or the quality of the food. A genuine 5-star dining experience and without a doubt one of the finest hidden gems in the city.
