The fries and pork rinds were fantastic ! The staff is extremely friendly and the service is top notch! I love the idea of eating in the butcher shop! Iverstine is a great lunch spot in Baton Rouge…read more I am always on the lookout for new lunch spots. We often hit up the safe few and it's hard to get the team to venture out. I saw Iverstines in a YouTube clip and it looked intriguing. Apparently it's intriguing to lots of people because it was packed when we went. Despite the crowd, the wait was brief and the staff was friendly and keeping people moving. On our first visit we got sandwiches. The Cuban was a great choice. It was everything a Cuban should be. I would've liked more mustard but it was the best Cuban I've had in BR. Next trip we did a plate lunch. At the recommendation of a dude in line, I got the Tri tip. Solid choice. The green beans on the side were very good. In addition to the lunches, Iverstine is a full butcher. I will report back when I try some of their pre packed stuff. PS. They sell a hat with a piece of bacon on it that says Thiccccc. If anyone wants to get me that as a Christmas gift, I promise to change my profile photo to me in that hat.

The blue cheese chips are a must order, even if you don't like blue cheese. Really can't go wrong here. The vodka freeze is also a great frozen drink to try. Try it at their great happy hour, M-F 3-6! Inside is snazzy and a good place to take family. Service is always helpful and great. There is a parking lot in the back with a good amount of spots.

An hour before closing. We were seated quickly, but felt forgotten. Finally placed our order at 20 minutes later. Our food was a little hit and miss. Boudin Benedict, was room temperature. I had the Honey Poulette pancakes, this is where we were disappointed. The pancakes were over done, black around the edges and lacked any flavor. The chicken was the best thing from our brunch. Husband had coffee, he got one cup and asked for more. His second cup was only half and told it was the last of the coffee in house. From what I could tell we were not the last people there.

The parking is sometimes packed, but you can always park at the adjacent businesses around the corner (I think all of them are closed currently.) It is a bit chaotic inside, but just part of the George's experience! Order at the counter first - I recommend going and grabbing a ticket from the stack they keep at the front and just writing your own order. Saves time from the line as it can sometimes get long. You can't go wrong with your order. On Fridays, get the thin-cut catfish. The classic hamburger and onion rings are delicious. I usually go for the chicken finger plate with fries to keep it simple! Once you sit, they call out names on the orders for when you go back up to pay & pick it up. Sometimes the seating is limited, but you can always find rogue chairs and pull tables together. Go back up to the bar for refills, the girls that work up there are AWESOME and have it running very efficiently back there. Like I said, George's is a true bar food experience. There's always a sports game on, and there's an arcade for the kids to play in (with some tables in it too)! Some of my favorite memories as a kid is playing in the arcade while waiting for our food to come out. I love George's and you can catch me there at least once every month!

After becoming a household name from their uber famous Metairie location, I was delighted when…read moreDrago's finally made its way to Baton Rouge. Any place that is known for their oysters will always get my vote, even when they opened during the height of COVID. They still managed to push along and became one of the city's most well-known seafood destinations. Fast forward to 2025 and it's now closed. While I'm disappointed, I can't say I'm surprised. The place went from being the new kid in town to looking dated in a short handful of years. The staff was always a mixed bag, with subpar service outpacing the occasional outstanding experiences. It was always so spacious in here but rarely full, that I never understood the need for the hostess to give my large groups of people a hard time about not making reservations. (#1) The oysters are and will always be the star of the show. I love a good raw oyster and they seemed to have a decent batch each time, however the charbroiled ones were the ones to get. They were buttery, a little messy, and heavily seasoned with lots of salty parmesan on top. It was sometimes the only worth ordering given how inconsistent the rest of the menu was. Some other go-tos were the seafood pasta, lobster mac, and even the occasional gator tacos but even those dishes had their bad days. I was actually pretty impressed with their ribeye, but was quite disappointed with the boudin balls, gumbo, and some of their fried shrimp. In addition to service snafus and inconsistent food, the prices were always a tough pill to swallow. I'm aware seafood will forever carry a premium price tag, but when other seafood places charge a lot less for better quality output, then it becomes a point of contention. While I do hope they find a reason to re-open in Baton Rouge, I think I'll stick to their original location in Metairie.
