The food was outstanding! My husband and I shared the five-meat platter. He chose the baked beans as his side, while I ordered the smoked cabbage--and do not overlook that cabbage! It was absolutely delicious. We didn't get to try the quarter chicken cause they were out of it but they gave us extra ribs for a substitute so I wasn't mad at it. The brisket was juicy and tender, the ribs were perfectly cooked with a beautiful bark, and the sausage was incredibly flavorful. The turkey was slightly dry, but everything else was exceptional. Overall, we had a wonderful meal and would definitely recommend Smoke Bayou! Can't wait to go for wing night on Wednesday sometime soon. My only concern is that their catering business may be putting some strain on the brick-and-mortar side of the restaurant. We tried to eat there for a second time last Sunday (9/20/26), and there were several people waiting on to-go orders who said they had already been waiting for over an hour. Unfortunately, we ended up deciding not to stay. That being said, based on the meal we did have, the food and service absolutely earned five stars. Had been hearing a lot about this place and finally went this past weekend. As a 370 pound man, I don't say this lightly. Best BBQ I've ever had in my life, hands down. TLDR: Decent BBQ and good service in a eclectic decor. Nothing to complain about. They have jerk chicken on the menu and, being a huge Caribbean foodie and skeptic, I asked to sample the sauce. It was NOT Caribbean jerk flavor at all. Instead, we opted for the chicken combo platter and the brisket tacos... Brisket. Tacos. Did I mention I am a skeptic? The brisket taco came with brisket and cheese on a soft tortilla. The brisket was decently seasoned and the portions were adequate. It was served with chips and salsa which, on top of being really salty, had competing flavor profiles for me so I didn't eat them. Everytime I eat smoke bayou it hits the spot. I usually go for the 4 meat combo which comes with 1/2 lb of brisket, half smoked sausage link, 4 ribs, quarter smoked chicken, and 2 of the pint sides (I like the baked beans personally, and add some rice to make it a meal if it's own). The service is friendly, even when there's a wait at times because they're a popular BBQ place. They have good Louisiana decor inside that makes it feel like a hometown spot. Okay so I have a couple gripes, but this little BBQ joint is pretty solid, all things considered. This place was recommended by someone from the area on Facebook so decided to stop in for lunch while passing through Baton Rouge. It was consistently busy the whole time I was there, which is always a good sign. The inside is pretty small so most tables were taken up but we were able to snag one. Many people seemed to be getting their orders to-go. This place has the option to dine-in but you go to the counter to order, which I don't typically prefer, but it's fine. Everything is packaged to-go so they don't ask if you're dining in. I got the 1/2 brisket entree which came with two sides. I knew I wanted the mac and cheese, but none of the other sides were appealing to me, except the potato salad but my boyfriend already ordered that as his side. There was a chalk board behind the girl at the cash register advertising a burger and fries. I asked her if I could get fries as my other side and she said no, fries are only for people getting the burger. Big disappointment. There needs to be a regular potato option besides potato salad. Other sides include baked beans, collard greens, and yams, and I don't like any of these. Nonetheless, I wasn't going to make a big stink about it so I just got a second order of mac and cheese. We waited a bit for our food but that was to be expected with all the people there. The lady who brought out our food was very nice and gave us their BBQ sauce. I'm picky about BBQ sauce. I really liked this one- luckily, because it's the only one they have so if you don't like it, you have to eat your meat dry. My brisket was good but soooo fatty. I'm lucky if I got to eat half of my 1/2 pound order. I hate when this happens because I'm paying for a 1/2 pound of meat but can't eat a good portion of it. The Mac and cheese was good. We rarely sit down in a restaurant since covid. We've had Smoke Bayou a number of times and it always comes through to satisfy when we want bbq and we don't want to fire up the pit ourselves. Service was attentive. The brisket was the best I've had in quite a long time maybe ever? I did ask for the leaner cut & well done portion. Lean but not dry or tough. Tender and with great flavor. The baked beans had ground beef and were so good. I finished every bite. I did bring home leftovers of brisket and potato salad and the potato salad was quite delicious too. I sat outside because the inside music was loud and if you're up for that, I'm sure that's a great atmosphere, but I enjoyed the outdoor patio and the quiet. The chicken was soooo tender and well seasoned. It was juicy and hot! The brisket was pretty good. It was seasoned well, but the fat wasn't rendered enough for me, and it wasn't really hot. It was lukewarm. 2. The Bayou juice. Omg. I had a cup and a half and had a sugar rush for the rest of the day. I had to drink a ton of water to flush my system, but it was absolutely worth it!!! It's not sweet like kool aid sweet. It's more like a pineapple juice mixed with grenadine type of sweet. 3. The ambiance. It was cute in there and smelled good. It's a very humble setup, but the food quality makes it perfect. 4. Simple and straightforward menu. There isn't a lot of room to be confused with their menu. I appreciated that. I do wish they offered combos where you can pick your own meats instead of the meats being designated based on the number of meats you pick. So, in short (lol), we would definitely be back. We ate off of the meat, maybe 3 times or so. The total came up to $51. It was well worth it. I'm not sure if they are smoking the meat on site, but we definitely will be back!!!!! read more

Service was good we seated ourselves to a nice booth like table. The wait wasn't to shabby. Our drinks arrived first. Let me say it was so good my wife love it. The food came out and it was sooo delicious. The beans and Mac and cheese lawwwdddd have MERCY was sooo good. The smoke meat was tender. Great food and service. I don't remember exactly what we got but it was definitely a combo big enough for 2. Being from Texas this reminded me of home. I really enjoyed it. They were patient and answered our questions. The baked beans however, tasted like a can of Bush baked beans. My only complaint was that the food could've been served a little warmer. The price is comparable with today's economy. The restaurant was decorated with sports memorabilia , two large TV , animal heads and pig pictures. I learned it is a Black family owned business.
