June 2023 menu

We were traveling and stopped for lunch recently in June 2023. We ordered boudin balls, Delicious and meaty. The Red Beans with rice bowl was my favorite; the beans had little pieces of sausage, with a side of baked potato casserole was really, really good. The cracklins were really good too. I wanted to get some spicy ones but didn't see any. The frozen section had alligator, and deer which was surprising to me. The Sweet tea was the perfect drink to order. We had a very good time.

Randomly saw this place while on my way somewhere else and decided to stop. Pleasantly surprised! I didn't get photos of the star of the show..the smoked meats!! Delicious. Very well seasoned ..I liked the chicken cracklins and the pepper jack egg roll boudin wraps were pretty good too.

Only half of a half of chicken, no leg or thigh

Let me start by saying it's better than Cou-yons cajun bbq. I had the half chicken Wednesday special and one of the ribeye wraps. First the food had good flavor but my half chicken was missing its leg and thigh and the ribeye wrap was itty bitty. Wrap wasn't worth $3.00 for such a small portion, maybe 2" long. I really enjoyed everything even the beans and potato salad which usually leaves me disappointed at most restaurants but not here.

Fantastic! When you walk in to the restaurant do not expect to be seated, walk up to the counter to your left and the menu is on the wall. It's quite extensive with a variety of yummy options. The two girls at the front were just as nice as they could be. Azalea offered me a taste of the crawfish étouffée before purchase and came out to check on us and get to know us while we were eating. One of the cooks also came out to chat. So friendly! 10% off for carrying your gun which we definitely took advantage of. I had the crawfish étouffée which came with a little salad topped with a creamy Italian dressing, potato salad and a roll for $9.49. They package it in a styrofoam to go container. The ambiance is nothing fancy, much like a cafe or diner but don't let it deter you. The food is fantastic and the people are amazing! :)

Do not let the plain humble exterior fool you: this is a serious place! Specializing in "Cajun" meats you can get THE. BEST. CRACKLINS. here. They also have a wide selection of homemade sausages including a dynamite green onion sausage. Sausages, pork of all types (hocks, ribs, Tasso), casseroles, crazy good crawfish pistolettes, and spices, salsas, quail eggs, you name it they have it! In addition to being able to purchase items from the case to eat now - they have a fantastic row of freezers full of things to take home and cook later. For those of you who may hunt - they dress deer as well. Newly added in the last year is a restaurant next door which we have not tried.

That didn't bother me though because that meant our food came out faster and not a loud atmosphere. We both got lemon pepper & sweet heat wings with loaded fries. It gave everything I needed them to! Def the wing fix I needed. We also had a cocktail/ cant beat $6 cocktails regular price! I had a BNasty (rum, mango, pineapple & grenadine) it was GOOD & gave me the little buzz I was looking for.

Honeyyy, the college students were out and it was what I would deem a very successful karaoke night. Service wasn't slower than usual while the young people partied it up! My bartender wore the coolest multi-shaped glasses and DESERVES A RAISE! He didn't have a drink menu ready for me but still was able to cater to my want for a Gin Sour. He called it a Gin Honey Bee, I think ... We had such a good time and enjoyed the food so much because as you ordered your chicken, they were dropping it in the grease. Nothing was old or cold! I loved that for me and the guest I was with. The meal wasn't overpriced, it wasn't over seasoned and it wasn't undercooked! What more could I ask you

The service was great (S/o to Macy and the man at the front counter who I'm assuming is the owner). When I asked for more information on certain flavors and how good they were, the server was extremely honest especially when it came to the valley bread. The owner also gave us free samples of the valley bread (first picture below) which is a fresh garlic and Parmesan bread. The vibes were definitely there. Back to the Future and Jurassic Park were playing on the tv, and the writing on the walls gave a unique touch. It kept us entertained by reading different names and sayings. NOW TO THE FOOD!! The pink lemonade was good. It wasn't overly sweet which I love. The kool-aid (not pictured),on the other hand, could have used more sugar personally. There was also blue raspberry lemonade which we didn't try. I appreciated that these drinks were additional options besides the traditional coke products that they do have. The death valley meal was a 12 wing combo w/ fries and a drink. My friend decided on garlic parmesan and the valley sauce as her two flavors. The valley sauce was a light, sticky bbq sauce. It was amazing compared to traditional bbq sauced wings. The sauce wasn't over powering like traditional bbq sauce making the eating experience way better. Now that garlic parmesan?!!! Nothing like wingstop for sure. It's hard to explain but it taste exactly like garlic and parmesan. It doesn't taste fake like other garlic parmesan flavors. One thing I really appreciate about this business is their use of fresh garlic because it's not hard to miss. It adds an extra spark to their dishes. My 10 piece combo with half lemon pepper and honey hot was equally amazing. That flavor was unexplainable!! Usually when I get honey hot (or hot honey) it's always too sweet with no kick. Valley Wings honey hot was a perfect mix of both. The "kick" really got my friend, but for a regular spice consumer this would be great for you. The lemon pepper in my option lacked. I don't know if they didn't put enough season on it or my taste buds were off from the other previous flavors, but I barely tasted any lemon pepper. It was still good chicken but the flavor wasn't present. The regular and Cajun fries had a nice crunch to them but nothing special. They do offer a lot of loaded fry options that looked and sound amazing like chicken Alfredo, Cajun shrimp Alfredo, etc. Definitely another BR go-to restaurants on my list. Pink lemonade: 8/10 Garlic Parmesan: 9.5/10 Valley sauce: 8.5/10 Lemon pepper: 5/10 Honey hot: 9/10 Cajun fries: 5/10

They have been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive In's, and Dives" and have the pictures with Guy Fieri prominently displayed to prove it. The interior is eclectic, which is comforting. While BBQ is the main emphasis here, there are a number of other things on the menu. One of these that's really popular is the seafood stuffed potatoes. These are gigantic baked potatoes that come with shrimp or catfish, with our without crawfish étouffée. Seafood is a definite option here, and one can have it on Friday or any other day. But let's discuss the BBQ. They have smoked turkey that's never dry, and this is great in a sandwich or plate. The smoked wings are another favorite of mine. Then there is the smoked meatloaf, which is great in po-boy form. The ribs and brisket are also very worthy options. I think a two meat plate is a good way to enjoy the BBQ as it allows variety in tasting! Then one has to be pleased by the wide selection of sides. Variety is always great, especially when it includes uncommonly great options like fried green beans, red beans and rice, and Cajun Dirty Rice. One can always get coleslaw and beans if you are a fan of the classics. They even have desserts, if one has any room left for them. I rarely do...
