If i could give 15 stars I would. Janessa and Ed literally saved our house remodel. The hubs and I…read morespent 3-4 months picking out the perfect engineered wood for our home. We wanted something zero/low VOC so we chose Kahrs and were super happy with the wood when it came in. We're crazy picky on how our floor would be laid- we were there when the SC Flooring team laid our floor and we're super happy with how it turned out- and we're picky. Thats where things took a turn. We wanted wood steps with white risers in our stairwell. The stair nose that Kahrs sent us looked beyond AWFUL. It didnt match- not even close and looked super pink. Janessa and Ed worked with their vendor to get us more stair nose and that looked even worse. So what did they do? They CUSTOM made us new stair nose that legit matches PERFECTLY with our flooring. I almost cried when I saw how it turned out. They went well above and beyond to make sure that we were happy-- they not only custom matched the stair nose, but they also made it in a square edge which looks so much nicer and did it all within DAYS. Seriously thank you so so much Janessa and Ed for saving our remodel. We also wanted to say thank you to Luis and his brother for a flawless job in laying all of our tile. They laid cement looking tile in our guest bath and laundry room, marble tile for our kitchen backsplash and in our master bath they did our master shower along with herringbone wood tile for our master bath flooring with absolutely ZERO lippage. Again we are very picky and they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. They were clean, respectful of our space, always on time and truly the easiest contractors to work with. THANK YOU!!

This is our first Yelp review and we are glad we are able to give 5 STARS!…read moreWe wanted to build a Television "hutch" or "frame" in our California room. I had an idea, but needed someone to design and build them. I contacted JMI Carpentry and spoke with Jose. He came out and looked at the space and he devoted about an hour discussing the design and how it should be build, materials and etc... He offered to help us pick-up the TV from local Best Buy and wall mount the TV as well. He was on time meeting us at Best Buy and he came back the next day with Ricky and hung the TV. He measured everything carefully checking with me on the size of the hutch and explained to me exactly how it'd look. Jose accommodated our schedule and came on Sunday to install the hutch. Jose and Ricky did a fantastic job installing the hutch. I had little change of mind with wiring and Jose had no problem accommodating my suggestions. He cleaned, vaccummed the surrounding area and they were very professional. We plan to hire JMI Carpentry for other outstanding projects around the house for us. I want to address "being on time" complaint by other reviewer. Jose was late couple of times with us as well, but he texted us to let us know he was running late. We didn't have problem, LA traffic, little lateness is expected with service vendors. I can't wait for Jose to start on my next project!

He is very nice and friendly and did a great job with the quality of the cabinets he built. Here's why I'm disappointed: 1) he and his son (who he sends to do different jobs) are consistently late...like 2 hours late. Every single. time. Furthermore, they never call or text to let you know they're late. We felt like we were always hunting them down. 2) when his son came to paint our kitchen, he decided to have some friends come to our house and hung out with them in our driveway. We are very private people and with the type of work my husband does, we don't want anyone inviting people to our house. 3) we asked Jose to extend our island. His son came and built and painted it; it looked horrible. You could totally see where the old part ended and the extension began. There were also pieces of the plaster chipped out. I don't think it was smoothed out. We had Jose come back out to fix it and it turns out they didn't measure it right so our stove and wine cooler wouldn't fit. I was told that it was pretty much my husband's fault bc he gave the measurements but shouldn't it be the person doing the work that measures it for accuracy? Anywho, Jose rebuilt it but needed his son to come back to finish up. He was scheduled to come on a Saturday at 9...which of course didn't happen. My husband once again had to find out where he was and he said his son was supposed to be there..so he texted him. His son claimed he didn't know anything about it. He got to our house after 10:30...didn't paint like he was supposed to, the wall is also rigid and needs to be smoothed out. He said he didn't have the equipment to paint and told my husband he would leave the paint and he (my husband) could paint it himself. Of course he was livid. We paid for the job to be done and it wasn't complete. Save yourself time and stress and go with another company. Now we get to find someone else to finish the job. 4) our house was always left a mess. Dried up plaster was left on a plate on the floor, drywall was left in our driveway, and paint was splattered on our bathroom floor because the son used the sink to wash the paint brush and shook off the brush in the bathroom. 5) the paint job looked horrible the first time. The quality was like I did it myself. Paint that belonged on the walls ended up on the ceiling so it had to be touched up. It still doesn't look great and we will have to hire a painting company to redo it. This experience has been a total headache and like the saying goes, the cheap comes out expensive. Next time I'll pay more for a more reputable company.
