SC Flooring is AWFUL! We had so many issues with their installation. To start with, the installers didn't speak any English so it was extremely difficult at best to communicate with them. The project manager Richard was rude and very condescending. He also didn't show up on time when he promised he would. Now two years after the terrible installation (that we had to pay another contractor to fix) the floor is shifting and pulling away from the stairs. By way of background, I have owned many properties over the years, and have completed countless successful projects. My nightmare began with a trip to Floor & Decor, where I found some hardwood flooring that would be perfect for my home. They strongly suggested that I get an installation quote from their business partner, Installations Made Easy. I contacted them and arranged for an estimate from SC Flooring. I checked out SC Flooring, and as you can see, somehow, most of the Yelp reviews are favorable. From the time that Ed estimated my job, to the conclusion of this nightmare project, FIVE MONTHS would pass! SC Flooring was the most unprofessional and dishonest business that I have ever dealt with. Janessa and Ed lied to me repeatedly and tried to breach our contract with hidden charges and price increases that were never even discussed or approved by me. Installations Made Easy had to police them and help me finally resolve the project. SC Flooring is the epitome of incompetence. We purchased our flooring at State College Distributors and contracted with SC Flooring to install our engineered hardwood. After a few years, dark spots began to appear on our flooring. Mold was growing under the flooring because the adhesive did not completely cover the wood planks as is specified in the installation process. This allowed moisture from the concrete slab to penetrate the wood and turn to mold. (See pictures below) When we recently had the floor removed, there was also asbestos under the flooring! SC Flooring didn't bother to remove it prior to installing the planks! To rectify this situation we had to hire a flooring/mold removal company, asbestos removal company plus pay for mold and asbestos inspections which are costly. Because Ed at SC Flooring and Ted Angelo, the owner, were in denial of their incompetence, WE TOOK OUR CASE TO ARBITRATION AND WERE AWARDED THE FULL AMOUNT POSSIBLE. The State Contractors Board were not fooled and recognized the unprofessionalism of this company. Unfortunately, that amount was not sufficient to cover our cost for replacement. Starting with the selection of inexperienced individuals who are subcontracted to the operations manager who was unpleasant and unwilling to be helpful or correct the damage that they had done. SC Flooring LLC made my project a nightmare that lasted 6 months due to their lack of professionalism. The amount of money paid for this project does NOT reflect in the quality of work expected. Our experience with SC started out good but things turned sour when we had to discuss payment. Their pricing is outrageous. They tried to charge $275 for a 2 foot transition piece they put in and tried to charge for material delivery and for installing baseboards when they did neither. They also "revised" our charges but literally didn't change any of the prices. We've been ready to pay but we won't pay for something we didn't have done. They lady on the phone fought tooth and nail to cheat and overcharge. Not to mention they left trash in our yard and cut the flooring on our front porch leaving a huge pile of shavings all over our plants and in front of the door. They got pissy on the phone when my brother started questioning the charges after thinking they were going to get away with it when talking to our mother. If I was rating the quality of the install job alone this could be 5 stars. They did a great job laying 1200 sq feet of engineered flooring. However, there are a few issues that are causing this to be downgraded to 3 stars. The biggest issue is that the manager, Ed, never followed up with me after the job for me to ask about the work. This is basic customer service here. In fact, they never even got my authorization for the final payment--just helped themselves to charging it to the same card that had been authorized for the initial payment. Had he taken the time to contact me to ask about the job, he would have been told some of the following: First, the mess. The crew had left crumbled fast food wrappers on the carpet and counters during the tile demo and subsequent install. After the job was done, there was a ton of dust and debris all over the carpet and walls. But the real kicker that makes me mad is after the last day of the crew laying the wood floor, we saw two unopened boxes of leftover wood. The following day was spent installing shoe base along all the walls. When the crew was wrapping up to leave, I asked about where they left the remaining wood. They said there was one box in the garage. I said I had thought there was two. He said no only one. I waited to confirm with my husband to make sure I was not mistaken. When I later asked him, he confirmed there had in fact been 2 sealed boxes of wood. I waited for Ed to call and ask how the job went and to ask for my final payment. I planned to let him know then about the missing box of wood. But that call never happened. When I checked my credit card statement, I saw they had charged the remaining balance without asking for an authorization. So here's where I'm mad. I texted him about the missing wood. I told him they can refund me the cost of the box of wood plus tax ($160) or ask the guys to return the box of wood. I got NO REPLY. But the next day, on my porch, was the box of wood. I sent a text saying thank you for returning my wood. And still, NO REPLY. Now, if I had been the manager, and a customer brought that up, I would say something like, "thank you; I'll look into it and get back to you" or something, but the whole silence and entire lack of customer service just really rubs me the wrong way. read more

If i could give 15 stars I would. Janessa and Ed literally saved our house remodel. The hubs and I spent 3-4 months picking out the perfect engineered wood for our home. We wanted something zero/low VOC so we chose Kahrs and were super happy with the wood when it came in. We're crazy picky on how our floor would be laid- we were there when the SC Flooring team laid our floor and we're super happy with how it turned out- and we're picky. Thats where things took a turn. We wanted wood steps with white risers in our stairwell. The stair nose that Kahrs sent us looked beyond AWFUL. It didnt match- not even close and looked super pink. Janessa and Ed worked with their vendor to get us more stair nose and that looked even worse. So what did they do? They CUSTOM made us new stair nose that legit matches PERFECTLY with our flooring. I almost cried when I saw how it turned out. They went well above and beyond to make sure that we were happy-- they not only custom matched the stair nose, but they also made it in a square edge which looks so much nicer and did it all within DAYS. Seriously thank you so so much Janessa and Ed for saving our remodel. We also wanted to say thank you to Luis and his brother for a flawless job in laying all of our tile. They laid cement looking tile in our guest bath and laundry room, marble tile for our kitchen backsplash and in our master bath they did our master shower along with herringbone wood tile for our master bath flooring with absolutely ZERO lippage. Again we are very picky and they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. They were clean, respectful of our space, always on time and truly the easiest contractors to work with. Wow! The customer service we received from Janessa was above and beyond. We walked into the store in search for a specific LVT flooring as we are in the midst of a bathroom remodel and need to replace a few planks and a transition piece. Janessa called the manufacturer directly to locate the material but was told it was back-ordered until next year. Rather than giving-up, she proceeded to call numerous suppliers in search for someone who could potentially have it stock-piled. 24 hours later, we have EXACTLY what we need. We are so thankful for her helpfulness and willingness to accommodate-- she even arranged for a driver to pick-up the material for us. Mind you, this was all for a small $100 sale (which says a lot about them). We truly felt valued. When the time comes for us to install new flooring, we will definitely be back. read more

This is very upsetting as they came to see job , saw it was their fault and we spent lots of money having a good quality flooring installed throughout our home. If I would have known how HORRIBLE this company was I wouldn't have used them. There have been so many issues with this company from day 1. When the project manager Bill came over to get an estimate I explained how the banisters for my stairs needed to be removed he told me OK no problem. When he came over the first day of the job I talked to him again about the banisters being removed & again I was told no problem. Yeah that was a lie. I talked to his guys about the banister being removed & was told that the banisters were staying. When I called Bill I was shocked at the rudeness in which he talked to me. During our conversation he told me in so many words that he's doing things his way no matter what & that the banisters are staying. I had to call the office manager to get this resolved. On the 2nd day he asked to remove the stair railing & I agreed since I assumed it would be put back. I was wrong. I'm 9 months pregnant & having to walk down stairs without a railing to help keep my balance. Talk about a safety hazard. I had to call Bill again since I noticed the baseboards I was told per the company to purchase was 5 inches when the rest of the baseboards in my house are 3 inches. He reassured me that his team new how to install them where it would look good. That was another lie. I have to pay another contractor to come out & redo the job I had this company do. I was introduce to SC Flooring when I purchase my tiles from State Distributer. Ted was our estimator who came by our new home to give us a price and how much tiles should be order. I would have gave them 3 stars but they were nice and professional when handling our concerns. Okay our issues with SC flooring was that they claim their guys are professional and " CLEAN". There were so much dust on my kitchen, bathroom, and laundry cabinets i was sneezing so much while dusting and vaccuming it. I had discuss this issue with Janessa who said this was normal and it's inevitable but speaking with other family members who had flooring done in past and recently said it wasn't acceptable and installers should have tape up the cabinets with paper or plastic. Also i had light color carpet which they did put plastic covering and some painter cloth thing but they fail to replace it when it ripped ( ALOT) so i was like WTH. Another issue was how their installer was sloppy when adding the grout to our tiles. Some dried on our tiles ( we had purchase those polished wood-looked porcelain tiles) which we can see clearly and spilling out from cracks which didn't look nice at all. Be prepared to hire painters/touch up guys and dry wall person to patch up nicks on walls , scratches, and ALOT of dirt. Lastly and sadly our poor granite counters. I had my backsplash done with them too and notice huge gash on my granite while cleaning all the dust. I was shocked and disappointed when i saw it and came to conclusion the installer was using my beautiful counter to cut the backsplash tiles. Another WTH moment. Overall they were nice the people in SC Flooring and installers but the business itself was not so great as expected from all the reviews. They offer to pay for damages on my walls but luckily my builder handled it for free. Plus they gave us a discount on the project. Thus why i gave them 4 stars instead of 3 stars. Would i recommend them, I don't know. Maybe it was the installer( SC employee) and installer's employees ( not SC Flooring employee FYI) they choose to do our project. If it were possible for me to give TEN stars to SC Flooring, I would! We purchased our laminate and tile from Floor and Decor and used SC Flooring to install both. They started with our laminate install over the summer and did an excellent job from start to finish. The crew left the job site clean at the end of each day, which is something that many of the other subcontractors we hired did not do. They were punctual, friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the job itself, so they did not have a hundred questions for us upon arrival each day, which was also a bonus. Our bathrooms were another big job where I had a very specific design aesthetic in mind for each one. The lead tile installer, Luis, came out beforehand, spoke to me about exactly what I wanted in each bathroom and executed my ideas with perfection. Like, I am legit OBSESSED with my bathroom. I would sleep in there if I could. On that note, there were a couple minor issues during the tile installation process, and Janessa, the Operations Manager, is a Queen problem-solver! She is so great with customers. So much so, that I communicated exclusively with Janessa throughout because I knew that not only would she respond to my many, many questions in a timely manner, but she truly cares about customer satisfaction. My husband and I are beyond pleased with the work SC Flooring did to make our home look so beautiful. Special thanks to Janessa, who made working with this company SO easy. read more

Well, I would have liked to give a better review, but honestly can't! The crew that laid my vinyl wood like floor definitely knew how to lay flooring. But there's more to laying flooring than just slapping it down and leaving! First, on day one, two guys showed up to my home in Trabuco Canyon when I was told four guys would be there! After about two hours, one guy left and was gone over 3 hours! Not much work done! I cleaned up there leftover water and Gatorade bottles and swept up. Day two, a lot more work done but again I cleaned up the razor blades on the floor and just general stuff. The third day, I was not there. They finished laying the flooring, left a mess, and pushed all my heavy furniture into one room, leaving my wife standing there to deal with the mess and heavy furniture that we couldn't move! I had to get help from friends to put back my furniture! Then the next day, I got a call from SC Flooring stating they were going to charge me an additional fee for the crew having to move furniture! No communication from "Janessa" regarding my concerns during the job! They don't take pride in their work, it was get in and get out! Maybe it was just this crew, hard to say. If I had not been there two out of the three days, who knows! I see why they don't want the homeowners around! I don't think it's too much to ask to clean up after you work around someone's home or communicate with the homeowner when issues come up!! read more

I, also know this company as State College Distributors. I read the reviews about the customer service. This is not the place that will have someone follow you around, but when you need help, you just need to go and ask someone and they will help you. That is what we did and then we saw the same salesman, Gary for 6 weekends in a row and he never failed to help us or return a phone call. We removed existing wood floors, carpet and installed tile floors throughout a 1450 square foot home. We also removed and existing shower and had it re-tiled. It could not have gone more smoothly. We found tile at a different company and Gary, the sales person was able to get it cheaper. He then hooked us up with Ed who came out and gave us an estimate on installation. We were blown away by the cost at first because we had no idea of the cost of tile installation, but after three other estimates. SC Flooring was our choice. They estimate was right on the money and they were the most professional. We had to change our tile color and went back to see Gary who was able again to help us get a better deal on the tile we wanted. We ordered our tile and the project started within a week. Javier, who installed the tile was great. He was so professional. He had to work around our installation of kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets which he did flawlessly. Javier always answer my phone calls and text messages, as did everyone at SC Flooring. Our tile installation looks great! I would use SC Flooring. They are very professional and very good at what they do. After all the work was completed, we had noticed that we did not receive a refund on tile that was not used in our shower. I called and talked to Janessa in the office. She was able to talk with Javier, who confirmed that the tile was not used, and she issued us a refund right away. They are so professional. We worked with Robert on choosing our laminate - he was knowledgeable and found a product that had stair treads. Janessa coordinated our installation and happily answered my many questions - a dream to work with. She even arranged for us to get the base boards ahead of installation so we could paint them.Ed did the remeasure and was the most thorough of the 4 estimates we received (one even said it could not be done)- and also the best price! He said we would need a custom molding piece in wood for the top of our curved staircase. Jose the head of the installation team made the template - the color match was dead on - and also lead the work. He is a perfectionist! We wanted to replace our living room/dining room carpet with wood flooring. A friend referred us to Tom at State College Distributors. After talking to Tom for a few minutes, he pulled out a sample of the flooring he thought would be just right for us. It turned out the flooring Tom recommended was perfect for our space, so Tom connected us with Ed at SC Flooring Services to give us an estimate on installation. Ed arrived on time and worked with Tom while on site, so Ed was able to give us the complete cost including the wood, glue and installation right then. The cost was what I expected, so we scheduled the installation. Jose, the installer came on time and quickly went to work. As he was preparing the floor, he noticed one patch of the slab was darker and had more moisture than the rest of the slab. It turns out we had some moisture from ground water in that part of the slab. We were thankful that he stopped work and pointed it out instead of just proceeding as the wood very possibly would have buckled from the moisture at some point in the future. We worked with Ed and Janessa to determine the best way to seal the slab and reschedule the installation. Jose came back, sealed the slab and installed the wood. He did a really nice job and the floors look great. I highly recommend SC Flooring Services. read more

We recently had SC Flooring install ceramic planks at our house. We scheduled an appointment with Ed, the project manager, who was very knowledgeable about the process and provided us with an estimate for installation of tile, waterproofing for the floor, and installation of base board throughout. We are very pleased with the work they did, and it was completed ahead of schedule. The project included removal of existing tile and marble, which was done with minimal dust and cleaned up after the project was completed. I highly recommend this company. read more

Sc flooring just posted pictures of my refinished floor job. We needed to add new flooring in kitchen that would match existing 30 year old oak flooring in dining area and hallways. After going through 4 other companies that said they would have a hard time matching the existing floor, SC came through for us. I give SC Flooring 5 stars for three reasons; (1) quality of workmanship; (2) fair price and (3) point person (Janessa) for communication. I used SC Flooring in 2017 to pull out my tile in the downstairs and replace it with tan/grey wide plank french oak hardwood flooring. In June, 2020, during COVID, I decided to replace by upstairs carpet with the same wood flooring downstairs. I am very happy with the quality, and I truly appreciated that when thinks came up, as they always do w/construction project, I had a professional 'point person' to communicate with who could contact the workers and communicate issues, scheduling and changes. That was extremely important to me. Finally, the price was to be fair. SC is not the cheapest, because they have quality workers. When I made changes, I did negotiate the price and they listened and were fair and reasonable! I would use them again, but they have now installed wood floor in my entire house!! The key is good communication both ways to meet expectations. read more

Not sure how they got five stars. This is the worst tile stall I've had and I've been through three with different installer. I went with SC because I trusted they would do a good job with what they charge. Mind you they are double what other place charge. The first complaint was the measurements. There measurement was higher than a previous install and They did come down after I complained that they weren't correct. Second they broke the toilet paper holder right out of the drywall and tried to glue it back with putty...how irresponsible. Now after the install is done the floor is so sandy and chucks of grout coming out. Ed the project manager is telling me this is normal. Really???? Just google it...that is not at all normal. The grout install was improperly installed. I wish I had gone to Lowes instead of using these over priced guys. At least they guarantee their work so they don't have to come back. Now I have to call them back for the second time and I'm sure there will be a third. So disappointed. I wish the owner will call me so I can let him know what I'm experiencing with his workers. The owner did call me and the issue with the grout was fixed and now it looks beautiful. I gave it a four star for this issue but would have given a five if the grout issue didn't happen. read more
