Where do I start? This is by far the best burrito restaurant in the United States of America. The ingredients are always fresh and the selection of dark and light chicken meat is an amazing touch. The sauces are incredible and are very well made. They have service down to a science. If there's ever a long line it doesn't last long. They are bonafide professionals. Okay Mexican food for a decent price. Starting off with the pros, the service was quick. Plus for college students, if you show them your ID, you get a discount. Their chips and queso are also really good! Highly recommend...I could eat a whole bowl of just their chips and queso. Now the downside and the reason why I'm rating a 2/5. I ordered the street taco combo with a steak taco and a ground pork taco. Taste wise, they were great, but when I looked closer, I found hair on one of my lettuce toppers. We walked in at about 5:30pm on a Friday and it was not busy yet. The lady behind the counter was so friendly and told us what to do. We found a table and looked at the menu and she quickly came to take our drink order. We had fried pickles which were good but I have to talk about the hot roast beef po-boy. This sandwich was so good! I have NEVER had po-boy bread so fresh! I want to go back just for the bread. The service was great, atmosphere was pleasant and the sweet man that checked us out was so funny and we got out right when they started getting busy. I'm not sure if Louis was just having a bad day today but his attitude was uncalled for. My friend and I ordered beers and he made a couple comments along the lines of "I guess it's 4pm somewhere" and it was judgy and rude. Like sir it's 1pm and you work in college town why are you so mad I ordered a corona? When he came out from the back the workers were timid and seemed on edge. He was slamming things down and sighing and giving off the impression that he just did not want to be there. I must admit I am never happy with service here. There is all but one person who seems like a chicken with their head cut off. I order the same thing whenever I come and every time it seems to baffle them. If you ask for extra meat u will get it but only after them asking you twice and the person not understanding exactly how you want this to be done. I usually order a quesadilla with double steak rice on the side. This seems to baffle them when writing it down. They don't make any terrible mistakes but when I go here ordering seems sooo draining and tedious. The food here is amazing. For fast food it's great. It's got the feel of a chipotle except the theme is crime. I guess the food is so good it's illegal. Well whatever the idea they have successfully poached me from chipotle. This gets about 3.5 stars. Only because sometimes it's not as clean in the restaurant as it should be. Trays have been left on tables, sometimes the drink machine is sticky, stuff like that. However, the food, I've never had a problem with. I order quesadillas consistently. They'll definitely stuff them to the brim and for the price you pay, you want it that way. I normally do a wheat wrap with black beans, grilled chicken (or beef), guacamole, pico, cheese, mushrooms, and grilled onions. They sometimes make it extra toasty to get things nice and heated in there. I always want queso too, and they definitely pull through on that. I love that this location has a margarita machine. At Chipotle and Moes you probably aren't going to get that so that's a little extra perk. The cookies are good. read more

Considering this is pretty much a fast food Mexican place, it's pretty good! I got the build your own quesadilla which was really good and super filling. I love how they have a wide variety of options to fill your quesadillas or burritos or bowls or whatever you order! A lot of sit down Mexican places only offer quesadillas with meat and cheese which is why I loved being able to customize my quesadilla with lots of toppings. I will say that filling it with a lot of things did make it soggy and a little messy to eat, but that was on me for ordering so much lol. The quality of their ingredients is pretty fresh and delicious. I also found out that at this location, it's 10% off meals for students on Tuesday with your student ID which I fully took advantage of. It was also great that they if you made it a meal, it came with a drink, chips, and either salsa, quac, or queso. What I loved was that they didn't charge you extra if you picked either the queso or guac which most places do. I will definitely be back to this location! read more

I eat at izzos at least once a week. Sunday mornings are my favorite. The manager on Sunday mornings, Mason, is incredibly nice, helpful and personable! There were a lot of employees behind the counter this evening, but only one was making food for the 8 customers inside. It took at least 30 minutes to start getting my order taken. They left off 4 things in one of the burrito bowls I got (I was getting two bowls and a burrito so I didn't notice until my roommate told me her bowl only had rice, beans, jalapeños, and salsa in it). Are you kidding me? Izzo's: I miss you. I think these people are just stuck on their red beans and rice and etouffee. I grew up in California, live in Nevada now, and lived in Louisiana last year. I have friends I still visit in Louisiana, and when I heard of Izzo's I automatically thought, "Can't be better than Chipotle, which is also overrated anyway." I've spent so much time in the Southwest that it seemed impossible to find a decent burrito place anywhere else. Izzo's has NICE workers. They also had facepainting while I was there, and the employees all got their faces painted. I got an awesome burrito, which to my surprise beat Chipotle to the ground, and a turbodog. Makes for a good meal. They don't give you a little bit of anything, they give you a lot of everything, just tell them what you want. The cilantro sauce kicks ass. I'm back in Nevada and Izzo-less. My friend calls me while he's ordering here and it makes my mouth water. The only burrito place I've had that rivals Izzo's is in NOLA on Magazine at Juan's Flying Burrito. Spectacular stop for our family lunch today. We love a well stuffed burrito and left with stuffed tummies AND leftovers. If you are from TX then you might find similarities between Izzo's and a certain TX burrito joint named after a popular Lynard Skynard freedom rock tune. Stop here for lunch and you'll be impressed with fresh ingredients, individualized lunch choices, generous portions. Don't skip the roasted corn or fresh jalapeño. I loved my salad, my nine year old got the kids meal with steak and could only finish half, the taco meal combo was good for my growing teen girl and my boys both gobbled a regular misdemeanor burrito and were totally satisfied. At first glance I was unsure about getting a bite to eat here. It just seemed to fast food commerical mexican food from the outside. I am glad I was proven wrong. It is a roll your own tell them what to put in your burrito kind of place. Which is fine with me, because everything is made right in front of you. The burrito was warm and fresh as well as wrapped in a foil to preserve the heat. I accompanied my regular burrito with a beer which made the perfect combo. The largest sized burrito there is called the "ILLEGAL", then down sized to a supreme, followed by a regular. I was here after the LSU vs. Georgia game and the place was filled with LSU students. I usually don't go to many 'build your own' places, but this one really surprised me! the quality of the ingredients was great, the size of your burrito was massive for the price, and the staff was really friendly. I was nervous talking with the burrito builder since I was unfamiliar with the process, but he explained everything to me and made sure that I got everything I needed. Waited in line with my mask fully covering my nose then a worker named SABRINA asked me to pull my mask up. I didn't understand what she was saying because my mask was fully covering my face but I readjusted anyway. I got up to pay with my boyfriend and she again told me to pull my mask up.. I used to eat here after the gym. The food is good. The employees are miserable and it shows. I can only assume it's bad management / ownership. I went there sometime last week. Another gentleman and I walked in around the same time and did the, 'No you go first routine.' One of the four of five employees slowly made their way over to assist this guy. I waited patiently because I wasn't in a rush. The employees "looked busy" but I have no idea what they were doing as the place always has remnants of the last 50 burritos all over the tables and floor. I walked up after him and was simply ignored. About 5 minutes later a women walked in a waited along side of me in line. Again, one of the employees slowly walked over to take her order even though I had been waiting. I said something like, "Hey man.. can I get my order in?" The guy looked at me, looked away and then continued to take her order. I didn't argue I just walked out. It was an irritating experience. And while the employee was the object of my irritation... in my experience it's always bad management that creates that type of atmosphere. The food is NOT good. So it's better than taco bell, big woop dee doo. Look at how you're being ripped off. The tons of rice, cheese, lettuce, beans, and flour pretty much costs them nothing. Then you get a big whopping half to 3/4 scoop of meat to your burrito and you get charged a whole dollar extra for guacamole and avocado and other ingredients. Your burrito comes out to be AT LEAST 8 dollars. It's a total ripoff. The workers there are ASSES and you get the impression that they feel that you're obligated to tip them. All they do is slap on the rice, beans, cheese, and splatter the sauces and lettuce all over and there you go. Your meal is made. A pile of crap amateurishly made by mixing it all together like mush and you're actually paying a lot for it. How the hell is Izzo's still in business? I have not eaten at Izzo's for over a year and I'm quite happy with my decision. The people that gave this place a five star rating just never really get to eat any good place and eats crap all the time anyway. Best build-a-burrito place I've ever been to. They have good quality ingredients, and they don't fuck you over on the portions. I eat here at least a couple times per month, and I've never had a bad burrito. I usually go with the super size. Illegal is entirely too big unless you rolled through 13 bong hits before heading there. The tortilla types are wheat, flour, cayenne, and spinach, and they all taste exactly the same, so it's irrelevant which one you get. Then they've got a large array of options to fill it with, including some superb sauces. read more

I definitely enjoy visiting this location of Izzo's. The staff is always friendly, and the ingredients seem to be fresh. If you do go around lunch time, especially when LSU is in session, be prepared for a long line; however, the line moves pretty quickly. There might be a few dirty-ish tables here or there because they just need a wipe-down, but that is not frequent. If you want to bite into something yummy, get the cayenne tortilla with carnitas, black beans, corn, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, red tomatillo sauce (or salsa? - don't remember what they call it), southwest Caesar sauce, sour cream, and guacamole! MMMmmm! Also, they have those fancy drink machines that add flavors to just about any soda/drink you can think of. I'm a big fan of the Coke Zero with cherry and vanilla. Their prices are a little higher than one might expect, but I don't mind paying them since the quality is high - definitely worth many repeat visits. read more
