I'd read good reviews but was somewhat apprehensive just because it wasn't crowed on a Friday night. That was okay. The salsa was tasty, somewhat spicy, but not overly so. Chips were PERFECTLY seasoned, I didn't need to add any salt! The appetizers were INCREDIBLE! They blew my mind. Mami's Egg-rolls made me forget Chili's ever did a southwest egg roll. Who are they? And the Birria Fries...BURSTING with flavor. They were fantastic. I'm reminiscing as I write this and I'm so sad I don't have any. Perfect amount of cheese, birria was tender and FULL of flavor, served over deliciously seasoned fries and garnished with red onions. 10/10 My chile relleno was perfection. My friend ordered a chimichanga, if you're a meat lover, this is for you. She complained there was too much meat. My husband got the happy plate. His order was messed up and they replaced it very fast with many apologies. It was lacking some flavor but I chalk it up to the rush to fix his order. Overall the service was 10/10. The food was 9/10. And the ambiance of the place was very very cute. I loved the art and the feel of the place!

Small menu. My biggest disappointment is the portion of steak I was originally served. If you want to serve 2oz portions of meat then put the meat actually in the enchiladas. But seriously yall the sautéed onions weighed more than my steak that was an additional $4.50. Honestly if you already live in Denham you'll probably end up here have a had reading this review or not. Everyone knows somebody here.

They brought us the complimentary chips and salsa and drinks. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the chips were. They are homemade, warm, lightly salted and very thin. My favorite kind! The salsa was also very good. That was a good sign. There was a shift change issue, so they were delayed taking our meal order, so they offered us a free appetizer. Awesome! They brought us the queso, while we waited for our meal. I got the tamales plate and my husband got a combination meal. All was good and tasty and the prices are very reasonable. Don't pass this one by, stop and give them a try! (hey...that rhymes...lol)

Now I am going to have to give a 2 star review and that's being generous. The food has gone down dramatically and the service has too. One of the things my family and friends enjoy is having a margarita with our Mexican food. Maria's does not have a liquor license now so no margaritas (or even a beer) with our meal. I could eat very good food without a margarita but the food now is not that good. We find it bland, cold & tasteless. I really miss Maria's when it was owned by herself and then by her son. It is just a sad place now with bad food. .

Everything looked great, but the flavor just didn't quite match up. Overall, it wasn't a bad visit--just kind of middle-of-the-road. I'd give it a 3 out of 5.
