Went there on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy, but a party of four walked out because they never got drinks or chips & salsa. Prices do not reflect the dishes. The caldo de pescado was good. The fried fish which looked more like a piranha, is not seasoned at all! They just give you a large side of garlic in butter to add it yourself. There are definitely better seafood places than this. We were looking for a place to have a late lunch to celebrate my birthday. We showed up - a party of 11. We felt welcomed immediately as they took no time to seat us. We could tell we overwhelmed our waitress but she did well overall. The food was really tasty with the exception of the tortillas and salsa. The tortillas tasted like cheap store bought ones. The salsa was too hot - it was a condiment salsa not a chip dip salsa. read more

The wife and I have been on a taqueria tear recently. Granted, this place is not a taqueria per se, but we decided to give it try on a Saturday for lunch anyway. We chose from the lunch special menu that is offered also on Saturdays. The price was $5.95 for a very large portion of all the standard TEx-Mex plates, plus a soft drink. Good value. They offered soft tacos but I got fajitas and the wife got chile relleno. The service was warm and friendly--the waitress gave us a cup of the bean soup for free and it was very good. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was not. The portions are extremely large but that does not compensate for the complete lack of flavor. The wife's relleno tasted of old oil and she did not like it at all. My fajitas were average at best. There just was nothing going on there, not even with the pico. The place touts itself as a seafood restaurant so it is entirely possible that we did not place to their strength, or maybe we got the wrong cook. Who knows? But with all the really tasty and cheap taquerias in our neighborhood, we really are not in a hurry to return. Other people may have a different experience. When we went there were a few other people but not a lot, so maybe that means something, maybe not. read more

My parents recently discovered this place and took my sister and me here when we were in town recently. I'm always down for some Mexican seafood, so I was like, "Bring it on." The atmosphere was pleasant enough: clean and comfortable. It was not particularly bumping on a Saturday night. Hopefully they're doing better during lunch. The server came by quickly to take our drink orders while we leafed through the very large menu. As I mentioned already, there are tons of seafood dishes but some meat based stuff (and all your usual Tex-Mex). My mom got a big shrimp cocktail, my sister got one of the seafood soups, my father got the fried snapper, and I got the octopus in chipotle sauce. We started off with some nachos, which were excellent. Flavor was great, and the toppings were evenly distributed (often overlooked in the art of nacho). They brought out the well advertised charro beans at this point, which were delightful. Entrees came out shortly thereafter. Well, except for mine. The server had misunderstood me and brought out the wrong thing (even though I pointed out what I wanted on the menu). Not so many gringos ordering octopus, I suppose. At any rate, my proper entree came out soon after. In the meantime, I had beer to drink so it was all good. I'd say everything was solid. The octopus in my dish was cut up into extremely small pieces and I think the dish would have shined with some larger chunks of octopus. The sauce was very good, though. My sister said her soup was good but a little on the bland side. My parents both enjoyed their dishes very much. I tried a bit of my dad's snapper and I'd say it was probably the best thing on the table. Overall, I enjoyed myself and may bring the rating up with a few visits. It's just that the service was more awkward than you'd expect in a place like this and some of the entrees just need a little more to bring them over the top. read more

Ixtapa Bay Mariscos... To start off the place wasn't difficult to find. Parking is on their lot and spacious. My boyfriend, and three friends of mine went on a Monday, it was everyones first time. The place wasn't crowded at all. We entered and we were the only customers their, it took a while until someone came to sit us down but no biggie. We all ordered our drinks and the drinks came out pretty fast, we had chips and salsa to snack on while we waited for our food. I ordered a small shrimp cocktail that cost $8.49 and my boyfriend ordered a chimichanga plate for $7.95. (We all agreed our food tasted good) All in all the the customer service was good and the place was nice and clean. read more

Luis likes this place. I could skip it. He likes their shrimp cocktail. I order the fajita tacos. Yesterday I ordered the flameado fajita tacos. I was not impressed. The veggies were tasteless so I trashed them with the guacamole. I do not enjoy the groundmeat tacos here. We went to Keller's Hamburger after this and had a great burger. Business is not as booming as it was in the better economy so staff told me that weekend traffic is not like it used to be. The bathroom is always very clean when I go there. read more

Oh no...... this food gives you a stomach ache. Its a nice Mexican restaurant with the decor and friendly staff. I ordered the 'camarones a la diabla' and its shrimp in very hot sauce. Its a plate with a good portion of shrimp and a side of rice and salad. Everything was going great until I turn to my left hand side and I noticed a few cockroaches on the floor running around (makes you think whats really going on in the kitchen). Honestly, if I would have not even given it a start at all! I ordered the "parillada" and it was such a disappointment. The serving was absolutely unacceptable, I had about 3 small pieces of chicken, beef and 2 sorry shrimp that didn't even taste like shrimp-it's was more of chewing on smoked plastic. To top it off they added water to the sizzling plate loosing flavor and making the food cold and tasteless. They also included the tip themselves! I'm all about a deal. So I love this place. Get this. For their lunch special this is everything what you get for 5.95. For less than SIX dollars, in order: - A large soft drink with unlimited refills. None of that one-can-with-no-refills crap. - A an order of chips and salsa AND queso. - A cup of "frijoles charros." A sort of peasant bean stew with ranchero beans, bacon, and cut up hotdogs. - A not stingy order of fajitas (I order beef and chicken, no extra charge) with the usual fixin's, ie guac, sour cream, pico, mixed grilled veggies. - Rice and beans. - Three or tortillas of your choice. The food is solid, striking a good balance between white-people Mexican food and Mexican-people Mexican food. Did I mention I pay 6 dollars for all that? read more

Do not recommend at all, fish filet was as thin as paper. We had to wait more than 45 minutes for our food, not even the horchata was good. This is hands down the worst seafood place I've ever been to. Me and 5 of my family members happened to stop by for a late dinner and were greatly disappointed. Do not, Do not, DO NOTTTT get their "parrillada" it is the most miserable pathetic excuse of a plate I've ever seen. They charged me $16 plus tax and tip for half an onion, 2 lousy small shrimps, and 2 pieces of chicken. I have never felt so ripped off in my life. The shrimp cocktail was so scarce with shrimp I felt like I was fishing for them in the glass. I could go on and on but feel that with what I've said should suffice for you to make a decision. This place has been in business for 10+- years but has never been very popular. Our waiters was very good! But the sister of owner (manager) seems to be more interested in tv and her phone at dinner time thengrilling the customers. It seemed almost like we were disturbing her to try her brothers restaurant. the prices were way off what the area will bare especially since all the food was obviously straight out of the freezer. I feel the cook could deliver a good product if given "fresh ingrediants" to prepare the menue with. It will be hard for this cafe to make a turn around given its history. But I would recommend removing the sister (maybe off site book keeper etc...). A fresh look insideand out. Fresh ingrediance. Reduce price to $5.50 - $9.50. Then advertise the change. Also hide storage clutter of prep are from dinning erea. The complementary bean soup, quest, salsa, and chips should stay, that is your hook. The White Rock Lake area needs a good mid range fish cafe and Mexican flair is in. Dont mis your opportunity to join in the areas new trend. We just got back. Second time this week. The bowl of beans is the very best homemade around. Chunks of ham , franks, onions, chilies and just the right spices to let both your noes and taste buds understand that you are in a Mexican restaurant. Made me want to come home and cook beans for tomorrow. Can't beat $6.42 including tax for lunch. Lots of working people there for lunch and a Corona. read more
